Security was not very nice when they explained that they couldn't or wouldn't accommodate any type of recreational vehicle. Most of my senior friends enjoy casinos but avoid this one.
We pull a trailer and generally stop at a casino on the way to our Destination. There is NO RV parking at all.

The negative reviews here don't even seem to come from truly bad experiences, seems more like high expectations of snobs. Â I find the staff friendly, courteous and helpful.
If you like slots, you couldn't ask for more. Â Bandits as far as the eye can see. Â Lots of "new age" stuff too. Â I've enjoyed many good experiences and so have most all my friends. Â You win some, you lose some. Â They can't keep the lights on if everyone wins every time.
The food has been great, a little high priced at the initial viewing, but then a generous portion shows up and every dish has been deeelish. Â Something for the boys, something for the girls.
I have a Rewards card, and recommend it. Â Comps add up to a good sandwich with a good day of play. Â Download some free slot play from time to time. Â Some even better benefits for the higher roller.
Avoid "sour" looking dealers, I come to have fun. Â I've had a few "duds" with zero personality. Â Watch out for "Black Jack Nazis". Â 8 decks,...I say play the game the way you want. Â I do get a little tired of the "follow the card" zombies. Â I occasionally stray from the "BJ strategy guide" and have doing that...ya know...gambling. Â Had a great dealer yesterday that was genuine enough to say,..."well,...who do you think wrote the card and why do you think they not only allow it at the tables, but sell it in the gift shops?". Â He's right.
I've had a recent run of great luck on slots, and I'm not really a big slot player. Â If you have the money, I prefer the dollar slots. Â They can all be fun,...just make sure you take enough money to give yourself a chance.
BEST "looking" sports bar in Toledo. Â I wish they had the sound of either the Cleveland/Detroit/OSU/MICH games, but they don't pump out the sound of any of the games. Â The basic beers are $4 and the drinks are generous pours. Â Ask for a large cup and a "martini pour" for an extra dollar. Â Pop machines are free, so you can "add" to your drink. Â COKE products. Â Water is free.
Great covered parking, never a long wait at the elevators. Â Valet available, $5 until you get the higher ranking rewards cards.
I would love to see access for boaters,....right on the river? Â Right?
Lots of fun, A welcome addition to Toledo. Â Give it a try!
For those days I decide it's a good idea to gamble away my car payment in hopes of doubling it, I head to a casino. I've been to all three Detroit casinos, Fire Keepers, Four Winds, and the Hollywood casino in Aurora Illinois (I swear I'm fine), and I really enjoy Hollywood Toledo because it's nonsmoking.
I don't smoke and don't enjoy breathing in secondhand smoke, so the fact that I don't have to sit in a cloud of death while spinning my slot machine makes me mighty happy. Add the high amount of free credits they offer if you have a players card ($40-120 at a time) and I'm a happy camper. I've never purchased alcohol, but have eaten at the buffet and find it fine.
My only complaint is that I get carded multiple times by all kinds of staff. I realize I look young, but I'm closer to 30 than 21. Maybe give me a wristband or something next time.
From outside it looks like a church or a super movie theater... sitting on the Maumee River it's Ohio's answer to Detroit's three casino to keep their resident in Ohio and not send their money to Michigan :)
Okay, why I like this place... free COKE products (not a Pepsi fan), no smoking (they have separate smoking room) and very laid back. Â
I would go back, but if I'm to drive to Toledo from MI and take chance with OHP, I think I'll go to Detroit Casino.
If you want to have a seizure, sit in the bar area and watch all 95 tvs at once.
If you want to sponge waves of extreme disillusionment, walk through the slot machine area during the day and watch people who probably shouldn't be gambling gamble for hours with the same fixed expression on their face.
Free soda and oxygen piped in, though! Â YAAAY.
The casino is new this year. Easy off and on to I75. Â No, you don't need valet parking - just go to the second level that is covered, get out and walk to the doors - casino is all on one level. Â Really, some of you you think you need valet parking here?
There is a new slot "Big Buck" I think, it's so cool  You rake up points and then you pick what you would want to shoot, then comes picking random featured items (yours) that gives you how many shots you get.  Here is the cool part!  You pick up the plastic like rifle and shoot at the screen.....how cool!!!  We just loved this one.
Our friends go to Windsor quite a bit - they live up in MI - really don't like casinos in Detroit because of the smoke. Friends from MI plan to return and look forward to checking out the sister casino in Columbus - maybe over Thanksgiving. Â
We ate here twice - one at the buffet for late lunch on a Saturday. Â The price was reasonable. Â I believe $17 pp / not bad, evening price is slightly higher. Â Those that are talking $40 must be talking weekend and up-line which is an option on the weekends? Â Anyway the buffet food was pretty good - I don't even like buffet food. Â I would call it mid-line buffet food for the lunch - desserts are not made on site, I put OK - nothing special.
HOWEVER, if you want a really nice place to eat maybe for a special occasion or just because - check out the Final Cut. Â The Final Cut Steak House is only open in the evenings! Â NICE, very glam. Â The portions are huge and a la cate- I would suggest sharing or save up like we did all day just for that meal. Â The food was wonderful! Â Pricey, but wonderful. Â Staff VERY friendly coming into the restaurant and on point for everything we wanted. Â Can't say enough about this place. Â I am looking forward to go back. Â
Two of us had together: Â lobster bisque soup, spinach salad, new york bone in steak, lobster tail grilled, loaded baked potatoe, grilled asparagus, fresh press coffee....WISHED we had room for dessert. The house provided appetizer and high end white chocolates at the end of the meal - just a nice touch!
ok i know a number of people on here have destroyed this place, and yes i've never been to detroit/windsor, BUT this place isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Â this is coming from someone who's lost $550 in two nights here too. Â
first off, it's new so it's clean. the circular shape makes it easy to navigate. Â not too big, not too small. Â
$4 for a beer is not unreasonable. Â this isn't vegas people! Â i had consistent table side service while playing black jack. Â
speaking of table games, the dealers i had were professional and on top of their game.
as per the slots eating you alive, i did see some people winning on them.
wasn't here during buffet hours but there was food (deli type place) and the chicken club i ordered wasn't bad and reasonably priced, under $10. Â my buddy got the chicken salad croissant which was also good. Â
i understand they had some problems when they opened but whatever they were seemed to have subsided. all in all even with losing $$$ i still had a good time here.
Decided to take a trip to check out the new casino. Â Living less than a few hours away, I thought this was something that I would enjoy for a break from the weekly routine. Â Like others have said, parking is really easy. Â I think that they really should have added some form of protection from the weather on the top level. Â
Walking into the casino, I was very impressed with the look of the layout. Â I have been to Vegas a couple of times and they all seem dark and kind of dreary. Â This isn't that type of casino. Â Huge TVs, plenty of light, and no stale smoke in the air. Â Being a smoker myself, it was really nice not having a cloud to walk through. Â The outside smoking section is nice. Â They have seating and heaters, so I think on the normal Ohio winter it wouldn't be too bad.
The first thing I did was get a players card. Â It was easy to get through the line and get the card, but the "benefits" of the card may only be useful for those who are planning to spend a lot of money here. Â But it is new, so I guess time will tell.
The layout of the casino is kind of confusing. Â The slots aren't that easy to navigate through. Â I think this is done for a reason. Â If you are looking for the penny slots, they are scattered all around. Â But they throw quarter and dollar slot in the mix which could be confusing to some.
I spent about 2 hours on the floor and the only time I had anyone come up to me to take a drink order, I was setting at a table. Â I am sure if you called someone over they would show up, but should you really have to do that? Â There were plenty of girls on the floor, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get a drink. Â They do have a self serve soda machine, you can always go that route to get your own drink. Â Plus, no need to tip anyone.
Yes the slots are tight, but your not going to make money playing slots. Â Sorry to pop bubbles out there! Â The tables are the tables. Â Either your hot or your not. Â Didn't play anything other than a few slots and blackjack, so I can't say much for anything else. Â But I normally hear lowed cheers from the craps table, I didn't hardly hear much.
I didn't eat at the casino, but the smell made me hungry, for what it's worth. Â The prices seem high from looking at the menus, but that is how it normally is.
Visiting Toledo and went over the river to Rossford to the Casino. They have been trying to lobby for a Casino for many years in this area. Now this saves a ride to Detroit or Mount Pleasant.
First , this casino has excellent parking, easy in and out.
As for the Casino, it is just OK. Nothing that stands out, if you have been to Vegas or Monte Carlo you know what I mean. Saying that I do have to include that if you are a gambler or just need a little variety in your entertainment, give it a try.
The slots will eat you alive, that table games are more on a turn than usual, some High Stakes games.
The bar is easy to get to and always in view. Â The drinks are what you expect $$$. But it is a Casino, not free but you will pay for them. The bartender was saying that are going to have free drink night when playing slots. He did not say what evening that would be.
Have fun in gambling, just think you may be the lucky one, who knows.
Didn't spend much time here but definitely not bored. I entered the casino at 2 AM on a Saturday night (Sunday Morning) and it was pretty busy. There are maaaaany slot (shit) machines but I go to casinos for board games. The minimum bet was 15 and there was a separate area for high bets. Max bet on Roulette was 100 (too bad). Drinks are expensive so is water...?!&?Â¥! bazingaa, water was free. There is a sandwich shop, buffet and a lounge. Separate smoking zones.
Overall experience GOOD. I'm goin again.
TIP: Don't compare with Casinos in Vegas.
If we exclude the fact that after a few pushes of a slot machine button or a few rolls of the dice I could lose my whole paycheck, the Hollywood Casino is almost everything you could ask for in a fun night out! I understand many people are not into gambling/casino but for those who enjoy testing their luck, I found the Hollywood Casino one of the best options within 45 minutes of the Detroit Area. I have been to all three Detroit casinos, Caesar's Windsor and Firekeepers (Kalamazoo) and I have found them all to be average and less than noteworthy.
Elements I liked:
1. Non-smoking in the casino, although there are balcony areas on both sides for smoking.
2. Great atmosphere and elaborately decorated. I was very impressed with the decorating theme and festive feeling the casino promoted as soon as I walked in.
3. Large casino with a varied selection of slot machines and table games. I was there on a Friday night and they had two ( out of four) craps tables at a $5 minimum which always makes me happy.
4. A couple different dining options but if you want reasonably priced casual food in a unique/mesmerizing atmosphere you have to try Scene, the restaurant situated in the middle of the casino and surrounded by cascading, translucent TV screens.
Elements I liked less:
1. A $10 glass of red wine. I got there around 7pm and wanted a delicious glass of wine as I checked things out. Thank goodness I was informed by the bar tender that all of their reds are $10 a glass. Beer and other drinks are more reasonably priced.
A happy ending, I actually won some money at Hollywood Casino and celebrated with a $10 Malbec!
This casino is new and lovely. You can smoke, but not inside so you leave still smelling great. It is convenient to step outside to smoke if you like. The machines are new, and you can leave with your money or a little extra on a regular day. The dealers are friendly, and the atmosphere is great. There are three food options - the final cut which is expensive (didn't eat there but others raved about it), the buffet, and a deli area where you can get a hotdog or sandwich, coffee and pastries. It is not too large to be difficult to maneuver, but is still big enough to offer a variety of games. It is similar to Firekeepers in Battle Creek, MI but the slots are looser. We had a great time, and played for a long time with a small amount of money. The are it is in is not great, but it is right off the highway and very easy to get to. They provide free soda (but no coffee).
Review Source:This casino makes you feel like your in Vegas. It's big, spacious and well laid out. Â We only hit the slots and they had a huge variety. Everything from traditional slots to all the new ones were available. Â I watched the game table but couldn't find a Blackjack table for under $15. Â What a great addition to Toledo night life.
Review Source:Well, it was my day off today so I hopped in the car and headed for Toledo to check out the new Hollywood Casino.
Outside of the building is very nice, very upscale looking. Â Easy to get to off of I-75 at exit 199. Â Parking is pretty good. Â I parked on the top level in late afternoon and didn't have any trouble parking. Â Took the elevator down to the casino which is very nice. Â Open and airy with a classy look. Â It kinda put me in mind of Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas in some ways. Â
It's set up in a circular pattern which is easy to navigate. Â It's a big casino, but not too big. Â A little larger than Wheeling Island if that helps. Â Plenty of drink stations (self serve pop and water although coffee would have been nice to see also.) Â Restrooms are nicely spaced throughout the perimeter and are easy to find.
I saw there was a buffet and a prime steak house which looks very upscale. Â Took a peak inside, looks something like Mitchell's Steakhouse in Columbus.
Also had a sandwich type deli/cafe with some really delicious looking pastries.
Gift shop was small  with affordable, shirts, necklaces, earrings, and other  jewelry, candy and misc.  Just wish they had post cards!
Don't do table games, but did lose some money on the slots. Â Pretty decent mix of different titles, some I've seen before and quite a few that were new to me. Â They have everything from penny slots to $100's.
If you are a smoker, they have a couple doors where you may go outside on a balcony and get your nicotine fix.
I hope Columbus's casino is as nice!
The atmosphere at Scene was great! There are tv's all around, it would be a perfect spot to watch a game. The food on the other hand left me disappointed. The burger was so greasy that is soaked through the bottom bun which made it soggy. They changed the turkey burger that day, but the menu was not updated and it was not what was expected.
I would go back to watch a game and have a beer, but not to eat.
As someone who has visited many area casinos, including MGM Grand in Detroit, Greektown, Motor City and even a trip to Windsor, I can tell you safely that the Hollywood Casino was appalling.
The place is incredibly cold. Dress warmly.
The live tables are extraordinarily expensive compared to other casinos... On weekends it is 25 dollars per hand or round. That's outrageous compared to MGM casinos tables being routinely 5-10 for lower end wagers per hand. Hollywood Casino is really hiking up prices because they think most won't drive the 2 hours away to visit Detroits casinos... Show them wrong. What you will spend on gas to go to a real Casino rather than Ricky dink town Hollywood Casino, you will make up for in experience in Detroit or Windsor. Had high hopes for this but was disappointed beyond measure.
Another thing that disturbed me about this seemingly amateur run casino was the fact that they charge you for water and soda if you order it from a server or bar. It's only free if you get it from a self service station and wait in line. Now compare this to normal casinos - even Vegas!- and you find that soda and water is not just always free when requested by the players, but delivered to you. At normal casinos where you are spending you hard earned dollar on the entertainment, they want you to gamble, they aren't concerned over small details, they want you to to stay at the machine/table and play! Â Not Hollywood, even the valet costs money... Compared to better casinos where it is free.
Bottom line, if you want a genuine casino experience, go to Detroit or Windsor and bypass the inferior Hollywood Casino.
I like this new casino. It's clean and I can breathe in it. Now that I have an option nearby that doesn't mean going to Canada or going to the smoke-filled casinos in Detroit, I may gamble a little more.
I don't gamble much and don't do tables, so this review is coming from a pure slot-playing player who does it just for a kick once in a while. If you're in the same boat, you'll probably like this place. If you're a hardcore gambler, you might be better off at a more established casino.
As others have stated, I was excited at the prospects of this casino. It's not to far from Detroit, and a new casino with a little bit of class was going to be exciting. However, when we arrived there, it struck me more as "casino on a budget". Everything seemed cheap and under done, it was a very unimpressive design, building and overall appeal.
The majority of casino staff was unfriendly and never even said a hi or hello. The only exception was our waitress at the buffet, she was quite attentive, so much so I we left her an extra tip.
As for the gaming floor, it was pretty boring. I don't have to win to have a good time at a casino, but I would like to see someone else win. But that wasn't the case either, not one time did we see anyone get excited over a win during a three to four hour period, playing games just felt like a money grab, they could not take our cash fast enough.
I was also surprised that they didn't offer us anything for visiting the first time, just another un-friendly experience to get a player's card...
Overall, the Detroit casino's really have nothing to worry about. People might go here once (against my recommendation), but they most likely will not return! I know I won't!
I was lucky enough to be in town for the official grand opening on May 29th, and for the most part was glad I stopped in!
The aesthetics of the casino are great, the layout is easy to navigate, they have a couple smoking patios although kind of a downer to have to get up from a table to go smoke, and the tables (at least the blackjack tables) are comfortable and well designed. I was able to sit in the same seat at a blackjack table for about eight hours with limited breaks. Wasn't surprised that the table minimums were at fifteen dollars, and they didn't go up to twenty-five until about ten o'clock. I'm sure as the buzz wears off, the table minimums will go back down to five at some point.
The only drawbacks that I could really tell were...
-The staff had big time first day jitters and no one seemed to be on the same page about rules and policies. I couldn't see waiting in a line for a half hour to get a club card and decided to take my chances, have a seat and see if the pit boss could hook me up with one. Never had an issue with this at a casino until this time. There was nothing she could do for me, she said. Although two hours later, a different staff member asked a lady at my table if he could set her up for a card. Oh well, I just didn't like the inconsistency.
The waitresses, for the first couple hours they were at the table every ten minutes asking if anyone needed anything, but after that they were few and far between. The drinks tasted fine to me, although hard to screw up a vodka and tonic. Seemed like a heavy pour on the vodka so I didn't mind paying four bucks at all! The guy sitting next to me had a totally different experience though when he was ordering straight Chivas. The first double he ordered on the rocks looked like less than a shot and cost him seven dollars. The second one he ordered came out as a half full glass and was nine dollars! He was content the second time, but again, lack of consistency. Also on paying for drinks, the first three hours we weren't allowed to pay with chips, and then something changed and we were. Not sure why.
The dealers were so nervous I could clearly see their hands shaking! The dealers that were doing breaks for the others were on a totally different level though, personable, seemingly experienced, and very pleasant to have them at the table.
Restaurants - My only gripe here was that when we decided to eat dinner at 10pm, the Steakhouse said it was too late to be seated and the buffet worker said we would have to be done eating by 1030. So we didn't have a chance to try any of the food as we weren't in the mood for food from their grill.
So all in all this place could be great. I will look forward to my next visit to Toledo in a few months, and to this casino. I think that once they have all the bugs worked out, and they work on consistency in the casino experience, they will become a five star establishment!
Drove down from Sterling Heights, MI. Am glad I checked it out but will not be returning, even if I am in the area for some other reason. Â The casino is beautiful but that is all I have good to say. Â I considered it a rip off to charge $5.00 for valet parking. Â In Detroit, Valet is free at all the casino's. Â Also, I had to actually lean over the counter to get the attention of the lone woman that should have been manning the valet counter. Â
The slot machines are way more expensive than the ones in Detroit and the pay out was poor to average. Â There were 50% dollar machines where the max bet is $5.00, in Detroit the max bet averages $3.00 on the dollar machines. Â There were very few quarter machines and all the penny machines had high min/max bets as well. Â If you want to play dollar machines at $5.00 a pull this is the place for you. Â
I had to wait 30 minutes for a member card and they didn't offer ANY comps for new members. After spending $200.00 my member card offered me ZERO, ZIP, NADA! Â
I threw away my member card on my way out. Â
My last gripe is that they did not have coffee machines. Â I was there in the morning and really preferred coffee over soda but had to order it from a roaming server...no thanks.
Really terrific staff, beautiful building and the steak house was out of this world. Pay for the $5 valet parking and avoid the parking garage.
Toledo is lucky to have it's first casino be so high quality. They couldn't have done it better, and over time I'm sure they'll work out all of the kinks.
We're looking forward to coming back!
Aesthetics - B+ It's new. It's nice. It has a circular flow, so it's impossible to get lost. Not too big, but big enough.
Dealers - F- Yes, that's an F-minus. I know it's new and they're working out the kinks and all, but it's not like they built this casino overnight and recruited the dealers the day before...but that's what it feels like. Some of them cannot do the math required to pay out. Some of them cannot count to 21. And I had issues at the roulette table and the Big Sucker Money Wheel with not being given enough time to place my bets. One instance in particular...the dealer on the Big Sucker Money Wheel waved off the other side of the table then made me remove a bet that I was simultaneously placing on my side of the table. Literally a difference of less than a second and before he backed off of the table to spin the wheel. Of course that number hit (10:1) and I missed out on $80, so yes...I'm a little bitter.
Pit Bosses - D Either they're deaf or unaware of their surroundings. Every time someone drops $100 on the table to buy in, it takes 5 minutes to get the pit boss's attention to to get the game rolling again. I think every roulette table in the house averages about 5 spins an hour. No joke. More than one table I visited was dangerously low on chip count. One of the pit bosses actually asked us all to trade in our chips so that we could continue playing. Â Again, just unaware of the surroundings...the chip counts should never be THAT low...and it was not an isolated incident.
Incidental Expenses - F A bottle of Bud Light will set you back $4...more if you want to tip. Do NOT forget to bring all the cash you need or else you'll be bent over at the ATM with a $5.00 service fee. I did not want to compare this place to Detroit, but I'm going to. The drinks here are more expensive and the $5.00 ATM fee is ludicrous. In Detroit, it's $2.75 - no more than most gas stations. The casino is going to make money off of the gambling. They do not need to stick it to you in every other aspect as well.
The lines at the bill breaking machines, the cashier, and ATMs were ridiculous. Many of the machines did not work, or ran out of money. Â Now I know why they kept pushing the opening back - they weren't (and still aren't) ready to open. When you do something, do it right the first time because you only have one chance to make a first impression.
I was excited for the casino to open in Toledo and thought it would be good for the economy. Â The bitterness after my visit is going to make it hard for me to balance staying here or making the hour trek up 75 to Detroit...
Oh...and before you think I'm some bitter losing gambler, I did walk out with an extra $200 bucks last night - so yes...this is my impression after making money off the place.
