Expecting some really good bar food, I left disappointed. The much raved about soft pretzels were just ok. The bechamel sauce was pretty good, but there was nothing really special about this app. Soft salty pretzels with a creamy sauce... The hummus and pita were just ok. I think Whole Foods sells better hummus, but I think my boyfriend enjoyed all the beers this place has to offer. If there's a next time, I hope the fried goat cheese will change my mind about this place.

After The Pub in Frisco closes, what are the half-drunken patrons to do?? Oh, I know! Amble across the street to Holy Grail Pub! They have really excellent beers on tap. The staff is composed of a motley crew of really cool cats and kittens. Love the Black Velvet. The soft pretzels are pro at soaking up excess alcohol, but their culinary amazingness only begins there. LOVE this spot.

All the food and all the beer is excellent. The burgers, fries, pie ... I am getting hungry just typing this ... you gotta go. Your gonna love it!

Not so great for brunch.  The bloody mary was the blandest i've ever had and the eggs benedict comes on buttermilk biscuits, which just tasted weird.

Great beer selection and ah-mah-zing mac and cheese.

Oh, the other food is really good, too (blue cheese and pear burger was a pleasant surprise!) but you want, you NEED that mach and cheese.

Mac and cheese and a cold, Texas beer.  Hell yeah.

The pretzels and fried goat cheese appetizers are excellent.  The beer selection is remarkable, prices are very reasonable, and service is top notch.  Food came out fast and was tasty.

Dark and loud, just like a pub.  GREAT beer selection, prices aren't bad either.  I will come back when I'm in town again.

Excellent food and best beer menu in Plano. The small bites, salads, and burgers are some of my favorites in this area, the sandwiches are ok.. Several nice large tables for groups, but get there early on weekends and game nights. Trivia night feels out of place here. Would def deserve 5 stars if not for inattentive service.

Not a good place for office parties, take that awkward mess to Chilis.

Good beer selection, and great service even during busy time. If you like to try something very spicy and very tasty at the same time, I'd highly recommend "Ghost Pepper Chili". As the name implies, it is made w/ Ghost Pepper, so it is pretty hot but unbelievably tasty.

I really like the bartenders here and they always give me great attention ~ great outdoor area and enjoyable time every single time I come here

Thank you Holy Grail for being so wonderful!

I wish I could comment on the food but I never got that far. Service sucked unless you are sitting at the bar (I think). The place was half empty but 3 guys felt it appropriate to drink by the door and block the entrance. And why not, nobody working at the pub ever thought it might be inconvenient for people trying to enter. So I stand by the door and the bartender says to sit anywhere we want and we did, just to be ignored by the servers. Mind you I could not even tell who the servers were because it seemed everyone was dressed the same. After about 10 minutes we decided to leave.  So there you have it, a shitty review for the shitty service. Maybe one day I might be able to review the food.

Great beer selection. Very knowledgable and friendly staff who know their beers. They have always recommended the perfect one based on what I am looking for. The hummus and pita bread is always a favorite as well. Nice pub atmosphere with different seating options whether you want a booth, small table, larger table for groups, and patio for when the weather calls for a drink outside.

A solid, legitimate pub through & through- inventive pub-grub menu, excellent craft beer selection.  You can always count on an interesting seasonal rotating tap & they give plenty (perhaps too much?) space on their wall to local Texas beer.  Table service can be hit-and-miss, but you can always flag someone down at the bar for help (and there seems to be no turnover here, familiar faces always behind the bar- a good sign that they take care of their people here).

The food here is okay but it's really about the atmosphere and drinks. Big selection on tap, larger selection of bottles. Price is kinda high but still decent

I have been coming here at least once a week.  They have a great beer selection and the food is very good to excellent.  Their service is excellent.

I really do like the hummus and pita selection.  The soft pretzels are good too.  With that being said, I have been trying to avoid carbs.

A lot of the beer is very strong and it only takes a couple of them to feel it.

For Frisco, this is an OK spot. Food is solid and the burger is more than solid. Their beer selection is pretty decent for the burbs.

Very good burgers- even the veggie burger was amazing.  Great beer selection as well as a 2 page list of Whiskeys!   Good ambiance, can have more TV's though!

also nice outdoor seating, covered from the elements

Great beer selection! The bar food is certainly above average.  I enjoy the casual atmosphere and freedom to stuff my face.  Stuff I've tried:

Fresh Cut Gravy Fries - Large plate of hand cut fries smothered in gravy and topped with gruyere cheese

Soft Pretzels - Home made fresh baked soft pretzel twists served with stone ground mustard and a truffle béchamel cheese sauce

Hummus Plate - A duo of roasted garlic and spicy pepper hummus with olives, feta cheese and pita bread for dipping

French Onion - Caramelized sweet red and yellow onions simmered in a whiskey beef stock and topped with bread and white cheddar cheese

Beer Cheese - Cheddar cheese soup blended with a touch of bock and served with toasted sourdough bread and bacon

Blue Cheese and Caramelized Pear Burger

Cali Burger - Avocado, fresh jalapeno, and Spanish manchego cheese

Pulled Pork Sandwich - Roasted pork shoulder piled on sourdough with cole slaw and sweet onions

Brisket Melt - House made beer braised beef brisket served on grilled sourdough with caramelized onions, white cheddar, and Russian dressing

Pub-Style Fish and Chips - Classic beer-battered Atlantic cod along with hand cut fries served with tartar sauce and malt vinegar

Beer Braised Pork Ribs - Beer braised short ribs slow cooked with a Shiner Bock demi-glaze piled on top of Boston-style baked beans and garnished with candied jalapenos

Beer Brats - Bratwurst braised in New Belgium beer and onions, grilled and served with braised cabbage and mashed potatoes

Steak Frites - Skirt steak cooked to order** seasoned with smoked sea salt and served with fried shallots, Cabernet jus sauce and house cut French fries -

Now that I sound like a glutten, let me say that everything has been SUPA good.  Nothing was a 10, but nothing has been less than 7 either.

I've been here four or five times and I'll keep going. The cheese platter and fried goat cheese were excellent! The hummus is perfect for sharing with friends. The atmosphere is great. I wish they had a better happy hour but that's really my only concern.

My wife and I went there for an early dinner. We ordered the deviled eggs to start - awesome. We followed that with burgers. They were also great. And the beer menu was long and thorough.

The service was also spot on. Our server named Bryan was there when we needed and away when we didn't, just right.

For the deviled eggs, two burgers, two beers and a wine our tab was around $52 which was worth the money.

They are like the better pubs in London that I enjoy. I recommend this place. We had a great time.

If you are looking for a nice bar to visit that has good food this is the stop for you.  The food menu is not only versatile but it is very good.  We brought a friend who is quite the bar hopper and they said it was very high quality pub food.  We had a pork sandwich,  a burger, and their bratwurst as well as their deviled eggs starter and were all pleased.

The interior is pretty dim but decorated with beautiful wood and has a British theme.  The music was very eclectic from metal to rock to alternative.  The staff was nice enough and pretty good with refills.

I could see how if you are not a beer drinker you can rack up quite a tab here.  They had tons of beers and a very very extensive scotch menu.  It was definitely something unique.  It is easy to pass up as it is in the center of a very new commercial area on Preston so you have to keep your eye open.  Check their website for pictures and look them up ahead of time on Google maps so you can spot them without missing it.

I'm from England so I'm oft critical of places claiming to be British style and serving British food but the holy grail hits the right buttons time after time
What I love most about this place is the ambience...the holy grail really does feel like a pub inside. When I first went and pulled into the strip mall it's located I was dubious but after opening the huge doors I stopped in my tracks.
Firstly it took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the dark which made it feel very British. On a hot Texas summer this place is perfect and if you really want sunlight they do have outdoor seating but inside it where the real magic is.
My hubby loves the scotch selection (and prices) here
The food has been consistently great though to start with I did avoid the "typical English" dishes for fear of disappointment. The fish and chips is actually pretty good even though when it arrived I looked at it and thought no wayyyyy this isn't good fish and chips. The flavor and texture was spot on though
My favorite dish here though is the steak and frites...the meat is cooked just perfect.
    This Brit will be returning

I really love the feel of this pub. Living in Plano, it is difficult to find a place which is different and not a generic bar owned by corporation. I love the decor, drink selection, food and vibe this place has. I have spent birthdays here, going away parties and many Friday/Saturday nights. The reason I am not giving this place more stars is because the service is regularly poor. While I have had some servers who have been phenomenal, they are far and few between. Perhaps they are understaffed or simply not great at hiring/keeping good people. If it weren't for the cool atmosphere, small old pub feel and poutine, I would not return.

Two visits (so far) and I am SOLD.  Typical pub feel, with lots of tables (both in and out) and TVs.  The service is friendly and accommodating.  Yes, they have lots of good beers of course.

The reason I am giving it five stars is the FOOD (isn't that what Yelp is about?!?)  My friend told me that they won an award for best pub food in Dallas, and I can see why.  They have many things I still want to try, but so far here is what I have enjoyed:
-Mac N Cheese.  Like Cookies and Milk or PB & J, Mac & Cheese goes perfect with beer IMHO.
-Sheppard's Pie.  This only gets four stars because it is not like any SP I have seen.  It is basically sliced beef mixed in with mashed potatoes and a small amount of cheese with gravy poured over top.  It was good, but sheppard's pie is supposed to be more PIE-like with the ground beef at the bottom, with potatoes and cheese baked on top.  Oh and peas/carrots are needed too..
-Fish N Chips.  I don't know what kind of fish it was, but it was delicious.  Normally it would be cod, but this was more like tilapia.  Oh course what makes the fish is the batter - and this was some of the best I have ever experienced - Crispy, flavorful, light!  The french fries were perfect - freshly cut and seasoned with garlic salt and truffle oil (I think).
-Cheeseburger.  I know there are a ton of places to get a burger, but it is nice when a bar can pull off a really good one.  It just goes to show that the chef is not "mailing it in" on anything.

I am a big fan of the Holy Grail Pub. I think it's very underrated at times considering many may not realize that this is actually a gastro pub. It boasts  a menu that compliments what they may have on cask/tap selection. I've had their beer brats and fish and chips and they were both pretty good. My husband tried their ghost pepper chili and it was very tasty. This is a good find for the North Dallasites that are too lazy to drive downtown for some good gastropub.

    A hidden pub!!!

First, I had no idea this place is so close to work and not far from my home! Happy Hour is to die for!

And fried goat, what? Fried Goat Cheese, that's it! Well, the sauce is more like an apple-tomato sauce which goes great with alcohol. Did I say alcohol? Well, I meant vodka. Perhaps, I am part Russian-NOT!

Anyhow, the appetizers were great and the prices cheap.

Come check out this place between 5-7 PM. You would be amazed at the crowd. This place is located on the corner of Headquarters and Preston close to Comerica Bank.

Excellent beer selection, good bar food (a bit better than bar food actually) and decent prices make this a great pub for the suburbs.
The service isn't always the fastest, so bring some time, but who goes to a pub when they're in a rush!?

Considering the lack of great pubs in the suburb, this is a real gem!

    This place is awesome!

The clientele and atmosphere are great. Everyone is friendly and talkative - even with strangers. The bar staff is even friendlier and help you make decisions on the endless beverage options you have at your disposal.

We ordered a cheese plate and were undecided on our third cheese choice. By recommendation of our bartender, Steven, we went with the red dragon and were thoroughly satisfied. We also ordered a plate of gravy fries. Being Canadian, I was super excited, as this was basically poutine. I even got Steven to call it poutine at one point in the night.

Overall, food is tasty. Staff and patrons are very friendly and drinks are reasonably priced and there is a huge variety.

We had the gravy fries and the pork sliders, which were phenomenal. We also ordered a cheese board, which was delicious and well-presented but could have used some honey or jam to sweeten it up a bit.

The pours were substantial and the beer was cold. Service was a little slow, but it was Labor Day Sunday--it's highly likely one of their waitresses called in sick so that she could go to a BBQ. It happens!

We'll be back to try the burgers, fried goat cheese, and Pork 'n Beans!

This place had a really cool vibe. We went late for some sandwiches and beers after work. There was a variety of people, old/young, dates, boys night out, etc.

My sandwich was pretty good! Not something I would have all the time, but I think it was just not my thing. I had the pork sandwich which came with the coleslaw on it. It was super sweet, which contrasted nicely with the pork. The fries were crispy and some of the better bar fries I've had!

They have some great beer selections, but what really blew me away was their collection of whiskey! I'm not big on whiskey, but if I ever want to take out someone who is, or feel like trying something new I'll definitely be back.

Went here one night not realizing that they were only serving Small bites and one other thing. I don't remember what my boyfriend had but I had the cheese board, extra grapes in lieu of olives. Had the Gruyere, Goat Cheese, and Red Dragon cheese. Only the Goat Cheese was any good in my opinion. But, their crackers were pretty good.

I want to come back and try the beer cheese soup. I was so sad that they didn't serve this late at night.

They do have outdoor seating, but it's a bit windy because of where it's located.
Indoor has darts and it had the typical pub feel to it.

I told myself I wouldnt make a Monty Python reference in this review...lol oops

So I went here for dinner. Its an interesting place since its in a somewhat typical strip mall..but once you walk in you feel as if you are in a little dark pub off by itself in a neighborhood. They did a great job on getting the feel right!

I started off with the fried goat cheese curds. Wow..I dont know why more places dont have this..its genius. Next up was the burger... best part about this is they have a great chese list to choose from. I went with the Welsh Red Dragon cheese. Absolutely amazing.

To top it off they have a great tap list of beers, the employees are very friendly, and did a great job.

I must've walked in just after the killer bunny cleared a couple of tables (Monty Python film, Holy Grail...anyone?): <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D99X8WDQWAKg&s=a0752b7a58cae4efbca84303ff901265509b39626c6e996c9cd6b239b1f35d27" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>

Great crowd, loud, great menu, tons of beautiful TV's, and oodles of draft brews (crafted and the regulars), and an AMAZING burger!  I ended up getting the Cali Burger (of course, I live in Cali!) -- with a "touch of pork" in the patty, Avocado, fresh jalapeno, and Spanish manchego cheese -- HOLY IS RIGHT!  When in TX, I have to get my favorite, Shiner Bock, and on draft...mmmmm mmmm...a beer mustache!

This was one terrific pub, and I can't wait to go back the next time I am in town.

The beer list is pretty good, but the Belgian list is "standard fair" which most customers know by name.  I know it's not a "Belgian bar" but it would be nice to see someone in DFW with a more unique list.  Thanks for the great price on the Sam Adams Infinium.

    Service was good.

Dinner was acceptable.  The pork belly sliders  were a good idea but slightly over cooked and rubbery.  I'd rather have the pork belly without the slider next time, and replace the slider protein with pulled pork.  I know that if Frisco sees that fat on the plate, not covered in a sauce they're going to freak out...but my opinion stands.  The tomato bisque was not a bisque with no discernible amount of cream and little salty, but a decent tomato soup.  I'm fine with that and I liked the grilled cheese on the side.  I also had the pretzels which were good with the mustard.  The dipping sauce had no taste, gruel maybe.  This place can do better on food.

Some friends of mine and are beginning to make a habit of coming out to The Holy Grail every Wednesday for their amazing trivia night; it's always a good time.

That aside, the pub itself is pretty sweet.  They have a great cheese board, and even though it is on the small side (and they put too many of those dry crackers for my taste), the cheese itself is always amazing.  Especially the Red Dragon - mmm!  The rest of the food they serve always looks delicious, and my friends speak highly of it, so I'm pretty sure it rocks.

They also have a great beer selection, if you're into it, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, which is always a bonus.
++ Edited note, that I'm not sure why I didn't add before - they also have a nice Scotch selection.  Perhaps not as vast as other pubs in the DFW area, but they do have a wide choice; lately I've been working through the Islays.  Mmm.

Not much else to input, but they are a great pub to check out if you are in the area!

Found a New Bad-ass Drink. The Holy Grail's version of the Mexican Martini.

This was suppose to be the second from last stop on our mini Houston Yelp UYE  In-N-Out Road Trip.  I wasn't in the mood for a beer or actually any drink that would make my tummy feel any more stuffed than it was from all the previous food and drinks I had all day. Still wanting to have a nice drink I decided on the Mexican Martini thinking that it would probably taste good and continue my drinking buzz nicely.

Well this drink is definitely made for the discriminating martini drinker.
Little did I know when I ordered it that it would wow my taste buds so much to rank this particular drink in my top 3 favorite drinks. This Mexican Martini is made with Asombroso Tequila (ultra premium tequila), Grand Marnier, lime and olive juice salted in a 'tini' glass. I ordered it with just a little crushed iced also.  (P.S. There is a secret ingredient not listed).

I'm so glad they listed the ingredients so I can make these at home because Plano is a bit far. I feel like I made a new friend on this trip finding this martini-so delish Umm!   Oh by the way I did make a real  friend also (so +2).

Anyway they're suppose to have 170 beers, extensive whiskey selection and about a dozen wines. Atmosphere was ok. The cheese platter was yummy a friend ordered.  Happy hour Mon-Fri 3-7pm.

Beer, Beer and more beer!!   I hope you like beer here.  Tons to chose from!

Luckily, if you are a wine drinker, this place is for you!  They have a full wine bar, including bottles and by the glass.

And what goes good with a nice glass of Cabernet?  yes:  Cheese!   they have a nice cheese platter with your choice of about 9 cheeses.  So enjoy!   I did!

Also, they have a dart area, which is easily avoidable after a few glasses of wine :)

Anyway, go here if you like beer, wine, darts and a place to relax.   it was awesome!

WAY overrated.  Overprocessed urban "pub"  for the soulless.

Ambience:  sterile, derivative of Saucer.  quasi-Gingerman for bizness droids.  Pub Lite for people who have no passport, have never seen or been in a pub or gasthaus.

    Clientele:  bizness droid automatons.

Food:  $12 fish/chips was way overpriced.  Should cod batter /really/ be spongey?  Fries were acceptable but not great.  This was a $8 fish/chips plate on a good day.  I think someone priced this at $12 on a dare.

Drink:  $7 for a Weihenstephaner weizen?  Really?  how much is your rent there?  On the upside, the glassware was spectacularly clean.  This is what beer folk call "beer clean";  no residue, no film, no dust, just perfect glassware that lets beer be the best it can be.  The glass pulled my grouchy ass up from two stars to three.

Staff:  two waitress poached each other for my table.  I didn't like the one that won.

wifi:  HolyGrail_G SSID, but WEP enabled and no key posted.  Could not connect, did not ask for password.

bathroom:  decent.  Very sturdy paper towels; nice and crunchy, like a line-dried towel.  Best thing about the visit.

Value:  Not going back unless someone else is buying.

Neighborhood sketch factor:  might get run over by a cellphone-talking, SUV-driving Millerite salesman.

30.06 status:  51%.  No carry zone.

I stopped in after getting a bite around the corner, but I quickly wished I had selected their pub fare instead.

Thursday night had two bartenders plus two other people walking around talking to patrons; they did a very good job of welcoming everyone into a friendly atmosphere with great ambient lighting. Most of the Thursday night crowd were dressed in athletic clothing, like they had just come from the gym or similar, so I would say this is a nice, casual place.

The drink menu was well put together and easy to follow. The bartender took extra care when pouring my Murphy's Stout, which made me smile. While they have Guinness on tap, they don't have Harp on tap; they only have Harp in bottles.

One thing that bothered me was the noise level. As 6 more people filtered into the pub, it quickly became very difficult to hear my friend sitting in the next bar-stool.

If you're looking for a good place to watch soccer, I would bet on this place.
