When you walk in, it doesn't look like much but we decided to stay based on reviews. And it was a GREAT choice. Not a huge beer selection but the burgers were great and fresh- no cheap frozen patty. And the homeade chipotle mayo was a great accent. I'd come again. Bartender was really nice too.
Review Source:DIve of all dives! I love Hosies, I love the bartenders.. so far Bre, Chloe and another sexy tall pin up style girl have been so sweet and killer behind the bar! To the point, beer or wine.. FREE pool on Mondays?! Thank you! and I love just hanging out with friends without worrying about lines, wait times and bad service. I get to dance, and enjoy time along with making new friends. Open minded? Go to hosies! Grab a burger while the grill is hot too!
Review Source:I really like Hosie's! Nice little dive bar on the 101 in downtown Oceanside. The bartender Shasta is a real sweet lady. She hooked me up with a 1/2 Lb cheeseburger
and a pint of some Saint Archer IPA. What an awesome burger! Everyone in there was real friendly. They have a great jukebox playing great tunes and some pool tables. It's a cool place to hang out on a Sunday morning/afternoon or anytime for that matter! I will be back.
We go to Hosies after a long day of riding the beach cruisers on the strand and it is always a unique & awesome experience. This a true dive bar and not for the sensitive type.
The HOSIES BURGER is hands down one of the best burgers in town.
The bartenders Brea, Shasta, & Chloe are super cool.
Place was a little quiet so I was suspect when we first arrived. Ordered a few cold barley pops, my favorite Racer V wasn't available on tap so we powered thru with Stone IPA & Avery Brown from a decent selection of local brews. Bartender Shasta was chatty and suggested we try burgers and fries for lunch. Decided on cheeseburger with basket o' fries and we have to give it up for this place. Menu limited and they get it right...juicy FRESH handmade burger with hot fries...great selection of sauces from odiesauce and habanero catchup. Worked bartender for special seasonings on burger and fries, she said we will have to come back and figure it out. Will definitely make it a point to catch you next time in SoCal.
Review Source:Ok.....so this place is a dive to the fullest definition of a dive bar. Hardley any seats past the bar and only enough room for a pool table. The establishment is run down and not very many t.v.s.
Now as far as the girl working, "Shasta" i believe, she did an amazing job and i would b a prick if i had anything negative to say about her. If it wasnt for her this place would have got one. She was super friendly and awesome server.
Other cool thing is it was $1 PBR Tuesdays so that made it worth it along with the company i was with also. Would never go here again other then to meet my friend who enjoys the place for some reason bless his heart
Had a great time hear last night. Â I went about 6:30 last night and had a very relaxing, fun time shooting pool. Â The service was great and my cheeseburger was excellent. Â You have to appreciate this place for being a solid, low-key dive bar experience. Â I will definitely be back.
Review Source:It's been a few months since I actually reviewed something IN San Diego (well, San Diego County), but once I found a place with only two options for dining:
-The burger
or
-The bigger burger
I knew I had to go.
(By the way, I ordered the burger).
Anyway, this place is awesome if you love:
(1) Dives
(2) Tattoos
(3) Light drug usage
(4) Day drinking
(5) Watching people make out
(6) Men with long hair
(7) Piercings
(8) Old beer smell
(9) The 80's
(10) Assuming food will not kill you
(11) Beating anyone who would choose Barrio Star's "ambiance" over Hosie's grittiness. Â This place was pretty hardcore while Barrio Star is a hipster's ironically upscale $10/taco suckfest.
I'm pretty sure Hosie's owner would (if hypothetically given the OPPORTUNITY*) basically kick the shit out of Barrio Star's owner every day of the week and twice on Sunday (BOOOOOOO BARRIO STAR. NEVER, EVER GO TO BARRIO STAR: http://www.yelp.com/biz/…).

The burger was splendidly messy, as my partners and I went through about twenty napkins a piece while eating.
My favorite moment, though, had to be while ordering lunch at the bar when another patron asked me if I knew how to spell "opportunities*." Â Luckily, I did. Â And (luckily for her), I told her the truth. Â She then went on to tell me about her mom, her last job application process, and the secret to Dark Matter. Â Sorry, she promised me not to tell.

I wouldn't go out of my way to drive to Oceanside...in fact, I try not to ever go to Oceanside unless court mandated...but if I were to return, I would try it again. Â What can I say...I just LOVE men with long hair.
Red Rooster, watch out! Â
Love this place. Â The music is fabulous, plenty of 80s metal . Â The burgers, this is a burger. Â
Nice and clean too. Â
The "kitchen" is more closet size. Â The selection is small, but do you really need anything on the menu more than a great cheeseburger? Â Habenero ketchup, so good. Â
Reasonable selection of beers on tap. Â
Yep, cash only. Â Believe there is an ATM inside if you run short. Â
This may become my favorite go-to place for burgers and a great time.
I love this place. It's one of the bars in Oceanside that does not descriminate against MC colors (we are a LE and Public Service club) Â and always has great deals. The owner will even roll up his sleeves and make some great burgers. The atmosphere is nice, the music is good, the pool is cheap and the beer is cheaper.
Review Source:I was craving a good burger, fries, and a cold beer, and looked up Yelp for some reviews. After reading them, I picked this place and gave it a go! Me and my sweets went down around 5:00 on a Friday nite. The place was a typical "dive" bar with 2 pool tables, and a jukebox.. John, the bartender, was a nice fella with the simple menu of hamburger, cheesebuger, and fries. Perfect!
2 huge yummy cheeseburgers, a basket of fries with some good seasoning (dip them babies in the chipolte mayo), and 2 cold Shock Tops later (with 6 good classic rock songs playing in the background) You got yourself one awesome meal!
You're welcome! :)
Excellent burgers. Reasonable drink prices, especially during happy hour (or on Tuesdays if you like PBR). Beer and wine only, including flavored rice wine masquerading as liquor. The bartenders are generally friendly, especially the one who's always there on Sunday nights. She's super cool and fun. The jukebox is too expensive, but overall this place rocks.
Review Source:Burger was really tasty even though it felt much like a home burger. The meat can be ordered 1/3 or 1/2 lb. and make sure to top it off with some of their chipotle sauce which I would say might even be better than In-N-Out's special sauce. Mondays they have free pool but it was too loud (music) so we didn't play.
Great price! About $5 for a burger.
Great burger and fries, the wednesday special cant be beat and he has PBR on tap! I am a fan! Cheap, clean, friendly, what more do you want in a beer bar?! The other yelpers nailed it, this is a great do-over from the crappy old joint that used to be there. Good work Hosie, I will be there every wednesday before bowling! Well done!
And the chipotle mayo is great on the burger and the fries hahaha!
You enter, greeted by a couple of friendly lady bartenders, take your seat at the bar, order only one item available on the menu which is your standard burger or with cheese, paired with your favorite beer, with jukebox music in the background, a loud cracking sound from a game of pool, and that's pretty much our experience for happy hour. Â It's ok but nothing exceptional.
Review Source:Nice place to grab a draft. The owner is pretty cool and trying to turn this place around from the dump that it was as The El Paso. If you are local, stop by for a beer and support another cool dive in downtown. They have some decent drafts including OAW Blonde and Fat Tire. Great place to roll in with a group of friends. You can own the place and have run of the two pool tables and internet jukebox. There are also 3 LCD tvs for sports.
Update! Â Hosie's now has cheeseburgers and fries... and dare I say it... Â they just may be better than Rooster Burgers! Â For reals. Â The key is a tasty homemade chipotle mayo! Â Hosie also uses all fresh high quality beef and veggies. Â Give it a try.
