I have to say I really didn't have any expectations going in here.  I ordered a local brew and the Irish Nachos... as they say in the South, "Oh lawd!" it was awesome.  Will definitely go here again.

Humphrey's is one of the first bars I went to in Huntsville, and I have to admit I do have a soft spot for it.  This is a good place to go and meet friends, have a drink and hang out and talk....that as long as its nice enough outside that the band is playing out in the alley instead of inside.  If the band has to play inside (when its raining or super cold) you can barely hear the person standing in front of you.  I like live music, but when I'm also there to hang out with my friends, I prefer it as more of background noise.

Otherwise I really like going here.  The drinks are a good price and they have lots of tables and chairs around the bar so you can usually find somewhere to sit if you want to.  They have servers walking around the tables to take drink orders instead of making you go up to the bar, which is always a big plus for me.  And as I mentioned earlier, they do have a lot of live music if you like to check local bands/musicians.  I've only ever tried their appetizers, but the food has always been good (nothing to write home about, but good).

Great draft and bottle selection. Great waitress. An easy time in Huntsville. Just sit at the bar!

I come to Huntsville for business a few times a year. Gotta say that I always stop at this joint while I'm here. The food is decent, the prices are good, the live bands are fantastic. Always a great time. If you're in town, stop in...you won't be disappointed.

Probably the best bar in Huntsville thanks to the outdoor area in the back with live music. Bartenders are straight bitches though. Basically do nothing and expect to be tipped more than a dollar for popping the cap off a single $7 bud light.

What an awesome bar!   Visited from out of town. Everyone was so friendly. Havent felt that welcome in a long time. Plus the food was really good too!

Go there for drinks at the bar; don't go for the food.  Yuk!

Pleasant surprise. I expected a southern redneck bar and although it has a bit of that element it's more of a modern big college bar. The layout is pretty cool with a large outdoor courtyard where live music is played on a well tuned stage most nights. Last night I didn't hear one country song. Thank you Jesus. It's crowded. It's smokey. It' loud. The lines at the bar might piss you off enough to leave. In the end if you're not from the south this place will satisfy you. Although it might be more fun to walk a few blocks down to Kafeesomething and attempt a conversation wherein you might understand most of the words and pay $3 a drink.

I was in town on a business trip and Humphrey's was where my hosts took me for dinner. Classic bar food with a southern twist (grits as a side item option, shrimp & grits for a main course, etc.). The place is really cool to be in - indoors is a traditional bar, outdoors is a 2-level patio with a stage that boasts live music most days... go figure the day we were there was Open Mic Night... and the mic stayed open and untouched during our entire 2 hours there!

The drinks were appropriately priced and the food was decent... for me! I had the crawfish po'boy which was pretty decent, but the bread was obviously stale. My coworkers each had the muffalata and both disliked their meals. They said they had to force themselves to eat it and afterwards it left their stomach a little unsettled.

Service was sub-par, too, as I'm pretty sure they only had one waitress. She was very nice and tried to be as attentive as she could, but it was obvious after she forgot to bring silverware to us, didn't refill waters, and took far too long to get our 2nd round of beers that she was overwhelmed.

Overall I got 2 beers and an entree for $17 (before the tip) in a really nice atmosphere. Not my best bar experience, but definitely not my worst. I've heard it's the place to be on the weekends, so maybe the next time I'm in town I'll try to stay for a Friday night, too.

On our first Friday night in HSV, I ended up at Humphrey's Bar & Grill upon the recommendation of our shuttle driver. Went with about 5 army guys for drinks and atmosphere.

We immediately realized upon entering that there was no way we were going to be able to get anything to eat - it was way too packed- so we accepted our fate, drank our dinner, and enjoyed the people watching and the strong drinks throughout the night.

The crowd here couldn't be more eclectic- from cougar town to frat boy central and everything in between.

We stood all night near the bar- I was glad I left my coat at home- would've been stuck holding it all night and it would've been smoky for days.

If you don't like standing and vying for a spot at the bar, you won't love this place, but if you love people watching, good live music and a fun scene with friendly people I think you'll enjoy hanging at Humphrey's.

This place saved my life, seriously.

I was stuck at the Von Braun convention center down the street on Clinton for an Indian wedding reception, and about 5 hours into it and the worst vegetarian food possibly imagined (soaked in oil, texture of sand, tasted and smelled of perfume) we went for a walk down to Humphreys.  This place was everything I could hope in a bar and grill.  The live band rocked, the bartenders were very generous and attentive, and the burgers and hot wings were delicious.

Pretty much my "goto" spot for a drink and a cigar in Huntsville.  The prices are not bad and the food is good- for bar food.

The crowd still really isn't my thing, but I've gotten to know some of the employees and they're great. Plus when they've got the patio open, it's a whole different bar :)

Fish Tacos are good.  Good drink selection.  In the warm months the patio is awesome, especially upstairs.  In the colder months it's hard to escape the weirdo skeezers trying to pick up the young college girls.  Gives me the creeps.

While visiting friends and relatives in beautiful northern Alabama, we checked out this happening spot on Washington Square in downtown Huntsville.  There were three bands on the bill that evening, so dining on the patio was out of the question.  Service was a bit spotty, but the food was surprisingly tasty.  It has a little bit of a chain feel, but ultimately a fine place to have a burger and a beer.
