Tucked back down a side street is Ignite. My friend lives in the area, so luckily they knew where we were going. It was a beautiful night in the Queen City and all of the outside tables were taken, so we took a seat at a hightop in the bar.

Our server, Kelsea, was a friendly, attentive young woman. We started with vodka martinis and I elected to make mine "Ignite" which meant that it had jalapeno juice in it in lieu of olive juice. It was quite tasty - I might have to try that at home. Kelsea also put blue-cheese stuffed olives in it.

For dinner, I elected for the Chicken Picatta Ignite. No, not everything has "Ignite" in the name. "Ignite" means that the chef has taken a normal dish and add some spice/hotness to it. In this case, in addition to the normal chicken picatta over linguini, there were pepperoncinis (peppers). Fortunately, I am as much fond of spice as I am trying new places and Yelping about it.

Overall, it was a great meal. If I had been in town alone, I would have elected to sit at the bar and watch the action in the kitchen. The owner, Neville (spelling?), came over at one point and asked how we enjoyed it. He was consummate host and obviously knows what he is doing (he owns several other restaurants).

Went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. It was a bit difficult to fit our group of 5 around the table but with a chair pulled to the end we did manage. I think they said we could have also pulled a second table over.
Air conditioner was a bit cold on us as we were sitting in the back and it was blowing down on our group. The waiter attempted to change the direction of the air when asked.
My food was good and my drink okay. Will most likely go back again but when my party is a group of 2-4.

Went there mid week for dinner with another couple. The food was decent, the server himself was good but we got a hassle trying to use the cuptopia coupon by the manager who was actually pretty rude about it. Won't be returning there...

lunch recently.....we thought this place was great!!!....it has a sister restaurant next door and at least when we were there you could order from either menu, service pleasant and attentive, drinks very good, chicken stuffed pepper appetizers excellent, buffalo burger big and rare as ordered along with a very nice side salad, mahi mahi ruben excellent, what's not to like, smallish place (actually almost identical to hooked next door) and sitting at the bar you could watch the kitchen work, thought of giving it a 5 as it was great but just not that fancy,,,,,,we will be back or back to try hooked next door!!!!

We ended up at Ignite because after accepting the idea of pushing a couple of tables together next door at Hooked, the restaurant called our host the night before and said that we would have to go to Ignite, instead. Not too impressive.

The atmosphere at Ignite is pub style comfortable. Our party of 8 was able to communicate without yelling most of the time. Our waitress did a great job. She was never far away when we wanted her for something.

The appetizers were very good. We had bacon wrapped scallops, spinach/artichoke/cheese dip, muscles and escargot. Each one was tasty and there was plenty of food.

I had the seared Ahi. I have to say that it was far from what I expected. My plate contained two piles of salad ingredients (no dressing), each with 6-8 strips of Ahi in a wagon wheel pattern on top. While the Ahi was fine, the dish fell pretty flat. One other person and I ended up taking the Ahi off of the tops of the piles and asking for some salad dressing for the lettuce et. al.

My wife had a the Sea Scallops Casino. I thought that the taste was outstanding, but I only had a couple of bites. Apparently, eating the entire dish, the sauce got too heavy.

The wines that we had were very tasty and the prices are reasonable.

Overall, our group had a good time, but we could do that anywhere. I am not sure that where we were added anything...but it did not detract, either.

If it was convenient, I would not be afraid to go into Ignite again, but I would not go out of my way to go back.

Girlfriend I went to this place one night for a decent dinner. The food was very good and well priced. We'll go back.

Review revision! I honestly meant to leave one star off ... and Not to only give one star! My comments are an honest disappointment about the menu. But the food we ordered was delicious and we had a great bottle of wine. I will probably look somewhere else for a more interesting menu.

I said I was gunna do this...sorry guys! Fried pickles and an ostrich burger! Amazing... Well it used to be! Oh no , no more ostrich burger! Something unique... I guess not! They did try to send me to "sizzle" their sister restaurant by telling me it was in the menu there but ... an on line check says NOPE not there either.

Went to Ignite last night for dinner. Arrived at about 6:00 and was seated at 7:00. Grabbed a seat at the bar while waiting and had a glass of wine. We were seated next to a group of very loud women who were celebrating a birthday. The place is very small and they had no consideration for anyone around them. The night went downhill from there. My fish was overcooked and dry, the Asian Tips were tough and very spicy. My husband enjoyed the mussels with ziti. The service was decent but things came out of the kitchen slow. We couldn't even have a conversation because of the noise level. Had a nice dessert (signature tort) and a good cup of coffee and left with a headache.
Will I go back or recommend to a friend? NOT!! Very disappointing.

My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary last night, and it was really good!

Service- our server (Chris I believe) was good! He never kept us waiting, and checked in throughout the night!

Food- was good! We started off with the Fried Calamari, which was very good! The red pepper relish on it made it uniquely delicious (and spicy which I loved!)! As for entrees, I had the Chile Lime Talapia, which I loved! My boyfriend had the Roasted Garlic Chicken la Rosa which he loved!

Drinks- were good as well! My boyfriend just got a beer, but I had the Bite Mojito, which I thought didn't have any bite until I stood up at the end of the meal... and then realized that the bite had just been cleverly disguised... AND it wasn't very sugary, which I loved.

Overall, it was a good, relaxing night :-) Will definitely be back!

Not many people there for lunch on a Saturday, yet the service was slow. The pan seared Ahi tuna steak WAS A JOKE- it would not even feed a bird. When I asked the waitress if my Ahi tuna steak was the salad or the entree, she said, "That's the entree." I looked at her over the tops of my glasses in disbelief. The dessert tasted like it had been previously frozen in China and thawed out that morning. For the amount of food we got, it was expensive and didn't taste very good. Don't go there.

Food: Had the Milltown Mussels appetizer - large portion, great flavor, broth was fantastic and the bread was perfect for dipping.
The ManchVegas Salad - nice salad, I like the way it is served with a base salad and the veggies, chicken and shrimp on a seperate sizzling plate. The shrimp was bit overcooked, but overall a good choice.
Menu prices are reasonable.

Atmosphere is trendy and the ginger martini was great. It was bit overpriced for this area.

Definately worth checking out.

Wow this place is seriously expensive and also disappointing. I've come here for lunch once and dinner once and have trouble understanding the hype behind this, as I've been told by co-workers it is their favorite place. I tried the nest without chicken and I felt like it is something I could have recreated at home and made it better. It really did not seem worth the high prices and overall, was very disappointing.

Fair price, and good food, OK service. The only catch is nothing really memorable. I ate at Ignite a week ago and if I'm walking by ill stop in again but will not go out of my way. For some reason it seemed like the food was chain restaurant quality. I'm not saying anything was bad in fact all went well but nothing was above average.

Lunch was slightly disappointing. I had Ahi tuna which was cooked perfectly over a salad, but the greens were quite wilty. Not as fress as I would have liked. It was also a very small portion. My friend had a Mahi Mahi sandwich that was huge. She liked it very much and said it was delicous. That atmosphere was very nice. We sat a hi-top table and were able to see into the kitchen. The waitress, however, couldn't tell me what the dressings were that came with the salad, so she asked the cook. He thought he knew, but when I tasted one of the dressings that was suppose to be a ginger sesame dressing it tasted a lot more like a peanut sauce. The waitress also didn't split the bill correctly and all she had to do was split it down the middle.

Yummy and well priced! To be honest, we had wanted to try Hooked, which I believe is owned by the same people, but they had a 40 min wait so we went next door.

Sat at the bar, they were busy and you couldn't really tell who was our server, but that happens sometimes when you sit at the bar, so no biggie.

We got a beef sandwich and the shrimp mac and cheese. It was very reasonable considering the fish and large portions. The french fries and bread were very good.

I want to learn how to make the mac and cheese! They also had an entree called "the Nest" that sounded so yummy, I wrote down the ingredients to try making it at home. (TBD)

They also do a fun "gimic" of turning the lights down when they flash the fire in the kitchen, it makes it a little smoky afterwards but everyone seems to enjoy it.

Grabbed 3 hershey's tickets on the way out, what a great dessert!

A great place to eat.

The food was good and the price was fair. We were there with 8 people and the place was crowed. I could not hear a thing anyone was saying, that really killed the mood. You had to shout to be heard. They need carpet in the table area to control the sound. Other than that I would go again if it were less crowed.

I've only been here once but I have no complaints about it (food wise). I think it is a little pricey, but I think that it is also a little more upscale than your run of the mill chain restaurant.

It's a small restaurant with seats at the bar and not that many table in general. Not really good for big groups.

Nice atmosphere. Nice and friendly waitstaff.

For food we both had salads. Caesar Salad w/Blackened Salmon and the Fiesta Chicken Salad. The Caesar with Salman was thought to be "okay." The Fiesta Chicken salad was thought to be "awesome." It was pretty cheesy, but I love cheese so that was okay with me.

For dessert we had tiramisu and while it was better than most places it was not superb.

We will go back to the restaurant and have a regular entree to really try the place out. We were looking for a low key dinner and did not expect the high prices, hence why we went with the salads.

My girlfriend and I went to Ignite for the first time this past Saturday night and were quite impressed with just about everything about the experience. While we had to wait a little bit, it was fine as it was prime-time and we didn't have any reservations (not sure if they take them). The menu is diverse and we ordered the artichoke/crab/shrimp dip as well as crab cakes and a fish sandwich with salad. The food came quickly, surprising since it was very busy and the appetizers were incredible. The drinks were also very good and there are some good choices both for beer and martinis. We did not have any dessert because the food was filling enough.

If you like a place with quality of food over quantity, you will be impressed, and quite honestly you won't go home hungry. The only thing knocking this down from 5 stars was the price as some of the apps were about as much as the entrees and I would imagine that the portion would be bigger for the entrees.

Ignite is our go-to restaurant in Manchester. We typically dine there at least a couple of times per month for dinner. The menu has a little bit of everything -- from sandwiches to steaks. Everything is reasonably priced (nothing over $20). The combo platter (four of: chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, chicken pepperoncini, spring rolls, buffalo tenders, teriyaki tips) is a great appetizer to start of a meal. My favorite item on the menu is called The Nest - chicken with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, spinach, and feta over angel hair. The tilapia (monarchs style) and new york strip are also delicious. There are always unique specials (I even tried alligator once) that allow you to mix it up from time to time. Service is almost always excellent. The owner is always on hand to chat and deal with the occasional mishap. A must try if you are in downtown Manchester.

We stopped in for lunch but ended up just ordering appetizers because the server informed us we were there during "happy hour" and all appetizer's were buy one get one free, with all draft beer $1 off. The bayou wings weren't very good. You could tell they start with very low quality chicken and then add a rub/sauce concoction that's too salty and does not stick to the wings well enough. Definitely avoid. The spinach, shrimp and crab dip wasn't anything better than you'd get at Friday's or Applebee's either. If you do go, definitely get the Chicken Pepperoncini, it was the only thing we really enjoyed and was very very good.

Extra star is for the service - our waitress Brittany was very friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The atmosphere is nice but doesn't outweigh the food quality. Price wasn't too bad, 3 appetizers (1 free) and 2 beers for $27.

Oh yeah, one more thing - Ignite features the cleanest, best restroom I've seen in a long time.

2.5 stars, just because this was a bad first experience. I may give them a second chance and re-edit this review later. But for now, we continue on.

Seeing as how it is "Eats Week" in Manchester, my friend and I decided to venture out to Ignite during our hour lunch between classes. They had $5 lunches, including shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, tilapia, and a few other choices. My friend and I sat outside because the inside seemed kind of dark inside and it was such a nice day outside. We were only given a regular menu and the waitress seemed confused when we asked her about Eats Week, but she went to ask her manager and soon returned with the lunch menu we were looking for.

We ordered the artichoke, crab, and shrimp dip for $9.99 to share and I ordered the shepherd's pie (which is one of my favorite things to eat and try in various places), and my friend ordered the tilapia. The dip took longer than expected to get out, but it was so good. Hot, cheesy, gooey, big chunks of shrimp, not so obvious crab, and the cheesy crust on top, and crispy multi-colored tortilla chips. My friend and I wolfed it up because we were starving. Our waitress never came back to check on us nor refill our waters. We waited. And waited. And waited. Half an hour after our appetizer arrived, my friend went in to find someone to pack up our lunch and get our bill ready 'cuz we had to walk back to school before class started again.

Our waitress came out, apologizing profusely, saying next time, we ought to have told her we were in a hurry. We had an hour for lunch. We didn't think that was in that much of a hurry. I mean, lunch usually takes less than an hour in other places. Though she knew we were in a hurry, she dropped the bill off and our lunch in take-out boxes and left before we had a chance to take 10 seconds to drop our credit cards down. Our boxes had no bags, but we didn't want to wait any longer and we left our tip and left.

Their dip was promising and the menu looked good, which is why I am willing to give them a try again. It was probably just an off-day and I will forgive them for this one experience.

I guess after I came back and looked at their website, $5 lunches is on their regular menu. So I don't know what is special about their "Eats Week" as they had advertised on the In Town Manchester website.

The shepherd's pie is still in the refrigerator.

This restaurant has a "happening" vibe and when we arrived for dinner on Friday night the place was packed. It was bustling, people were happy and seemed to be having a good time. We were a little nervous about getting a table since we hadn't made a reservation, but the wait was only 15 minutes.

The restaurant is set up in two rooms a bar area with 12-15 seats and a restaurant area with 8-10 tables. It's colorful, warm, and incredibly loud. If there was music, you couldn't hear it.

We ordered drinks while we waited, I asked for a Hendrick's Martini and my girlfriend a Cosmopolitan. It turns out they were out of Hendrick's which wouldn't have necessarily bothered me, but they had 5 giant bottles of Hendrick's above the bar and it seems to me a little ridiculous that they would advertise it so heavily and not actually have any. They substituted a different gin and it was ok. The Cosmo on the other hand was a disaster, it tasted like cough syrup in the worst kind of way.

As for the food, meh, I've had better. It's eclectic, no real idea behind it except to say it's trendy. They have Italian dishes like the one my girlfriend ordered - pistachio chicken, Spinach pasta (it was regular pasta) and a cheesy, garlic white sauce (the cheese was forgettable, hense why I can't remember what it was - to things like nachos and fried pickles.

Everything was ok, but it could have been much better.

I'm not a restauranteur, I just watch Top Chef a lot, but I feel like with a little more thought and consideration, they could put a menu together that would make me want to come back.

As it stands though, I really don't think that I will.

I visited Ignite last night for the second time. It's a cool, trendy, casual restaurant. The service and the drinks were great! When I arrived one of my dining companions had ordered a plate of Nachos for the table. They were flavorful but didn't have any crunch....which I happen to like. In general, the food was good. I ordered the spinach salad with a side of chicken tenders. The salad was good, dressing flavorful. The chicken was a little over cooked but still tender and flavorful. One thing that I thought was very strange is the chicken was served with a side of catchup. Catchup?? Are you serious? Who over the age of 10 eats chicken tenders with catchup? For a restaurant of this quality I would expect a dipping sauce with a little more imagination. The menu is diverse with a variety of app's, burgers, sandwiches and dinner entrees.

The restaurant was abuzz with activity, probably many Palace Theater goers. It's worth the trip but don't forget to pay your meter...until 8!

For a short while after Ignite opened, my coworkers and I visited this place religiously for lunch. It was so good that I dragged my wife there and also business associates when they were in town. The biggest hit for us was their Tuscan Dip which we continue to compare to every other local restaurant that has some sort of French or Tuscan Dip sandwich. We haven't returned in the last few months however because the portions seem to have gotten much smaller. The Tuscan Dip seems to be half of the original sandwich! To be perfectly honest, I feel a little ripped off as I feel I was part of the customer base that helped them establish themselves after they opened. They may have pretty good food, but there are plenty of other established places in Manchester that don't screw around.

We decided to try Ignite a few weeks back. We went on a Friday night, with no reservations. The place was busy, but we got a table on the bar side without any wait.

The atmosphere is really nice, they did a great job on the place! The only minor complaint would be that it was a bit noisy, but I find this is often the case with restaurants whether you're in Manchester, Boston or New York City.

I liked the varied menu. The food was excellent! I ordered a veal special, and my wife tried the turkey burger which she said was great. The deserts were very good and the coffee was nice and fresh.

The owner, Neville, stopped by to chat for a few minutes. He's an interesting guy! I hope his latest endeavor is a success! I think it will be, because Manchester folks seem to enjoy casual restaurants like this.

We've recommended Ignite to our friends and family. Several have gone there since and they all said they liked Ignite very much. That's a good sign. I'm usually a bit hesitant when recommending restaurants, because people's tastes and experiences on any given night can vary. Ignite is a nice addition to the restaurant scene in Manchester.

This place is likely to be popular with the Palace Theater crowd. The management has experience running a successful restaurant and it shows: clean decor, well thought out mainstream menu, reasonable prices.

In the Union Leader, the owner noted that customers have to be wowed with good food and good service. As far as the food, it was good. I had the chicken pepperoncini app and the "Bruised Burger". The app was tasty and nicely plated. The burger was big and juicy.

As far as the service, we weren't so wowed. The server was young, pretty and perky, but she seemed to have little experience waiting tables. While this is a new restaurant, she didn't seem familiar with either the draft beer list (there's less than half a dozen) or the menu. It's hard to believe she was one of the hires out of the 250 applications submitted. To his credit, before the end of the meal, Neville, the owner, checked in to make sure everything was okay. Not to my credit, I didn't say the service was lacking.

I get the feeling that Neville has tried very hard to make Ignite mainstream, kind of like a TGI Fridays. I think he got the formula right. For me, that's not necessarily a good thing.

Ignite Bar & Grille officially opened on Friday August 7th in the former Zuruna and Benvenuto's. The owners have done a fantastic job of overhauling and renovating the place. Ignite looks like the new hot spot on Hanover Street.

Ignite had a soft grand opening (unadvertised) on Thursday (August 6th) which started at 4PM, a dry run of the restaurant and bar. The menu was complementary tonight, except for alcoholic beverages. The place was pretty busy around 8:10PM when I rolled up on a warm Thursday evening. The place is divided into two sections, the bar area to the left with flatscreen TVs and high top tables and a small dining section to the right. I was seated in the dining section since the bar area was really busy. The lighting was dim. A large party was seated next to me enjoying themselves. The food they ordered looked pretty good including the jumbo shrimp cocktail, sea scallops casino, Asian ribeye steak, and Tuscan dip sandwich with sweet potato fries.

The menu looks interesting offering appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, salads, and desserts at moderate prices. See the restaurant pictures and menu at http://www.ignitebng.com

Okay, I started off with the Chicken Pepperoncini, which were mild Italian peppers filled with chicken, pancetta, & Colby jack cheeses wrapped in juicy bacon and served with a cool ranch dipping sauce, very spicy and interesting!

I ordered my dinner when the appetizer arrived, but it took over 30 minutes for my entree to arrive. The waitress and the owner both apologized to me and informed me that the kitchen was backed up tonight. It was really no biggie for me since the place has been open for business for only a few hours and the food was free (no complaints about that).

For dinner, I had the Raspberry Pecan Chicken Breast served with choice of potato and vegetable, which was excellent. The 2 chicken breasts were breaded with pecans and pan fried and served in a raspberry butter sauce. The zucchini was nice and crunchy and the angel hair pasta was decent (I'd try the mashed potatoes next time).

After dinner, I decided on dessert and coffee. The Green Mountain Keurig Coffee was decent and the Triple Chocolate Threat Cake was sinfully very rich!

Overall, the food was a solid 4 stars and the service still needed work, but it was their first unofficial night. I am not giving a rating for the service in this review. The owner was overseeing the place and conversing with the diners and noting the kinks that needed to be worked out. My friendly waitress and other waitresses were checking up on me throughout the meal, asking me how the food was and making sure I was all set with drinks. I hope this place does very well. I will definitely be back here with my buddy.

NOTE: Reservations not taken, it's first come first served
