Review Source:We had dinner here the other evening. First we were kept waiting 20 minutes for our reservation without any concern of the owner. It was obvious that we were not regulars by the way others were treated in the restaurant. He then sat down for his own dinner with a group of people without ever checking in on how the dinning experience was. At the end of the meal, all tables around us were offered an after dinner drink, except us. Sorry, too many excellent restaurants in the area!
Review Source:It's tricky thing, running an Italian restaurant on Long Island. So much competition. So many places to get halfway-decent upscale Italian food. Il VIllagio is one of those places. If it were located in the middle of Kansas, it would probably be a standout destination, serving the best and most authentic Italian food in the area. In Malverne, New York, however, it stands simply as a competent one among many, with nothing particularly special to single it out.
My entree was indicative of the whole experience: Chilean Sea Bass, Marechaira-style, with shrimp, clams, and light tomato broth. Clams were over, Sea Bass was just a tad under, but generally decent. Not great, but competent. If you frequent restaurants such as these, you can probably taste it in your mouth right now, and it's pretty much exactly what you would expect.
I will say the service was quite pleasant and efficient throughout, and that's a plus, but the reality is that there is tons of competition located within a few miles of this place. If you're seeing a movie at the Cinema 4, and you need a nice place to eat close by, this is certainly a good pick. Otherwise, I can't find a reason to recommend it as a destination for foodies.
Attended a wedding here 2 weeks ago, sorry for the delayed review. Â The service was great. Â The place is pretty, they dim the lights too much during the cocktail hour. Â During cocktails there was not enough seating for everyone. Â They need to hire an architect and a real party planner to work on the flow of the rooms. Â They are way too tight for 190 or bigger.
The food is just OK. Â This is the area they need to work on. Â Also the next day my husband and I were both sick. Â The day of the wedding we both only had bagels, and at the wedding we only had a small amount of alcohol, so we did not drink too much, we are having stomach problems.
They never served the wedding cake and when you asked for a piece at the  Viennese room, they gave you a hunk, but not before the wiped off the knife in a really dirty pitcher if water.  Then wiped off the icing, who does that.  Then cut a slab from the top layer, that was a huge piece, that it hung off the plate.
The Viennese was not good, they really need to work on this, the food has to be good.
Came here for my anniversary on a recommendation of a friend. Â The food was good, but for the price, eh.... They could have done a little bit better. Â It is a small upscale restaurant with tiny portions. The complementary starter on the table (cheese & olives) was delicious. The fried calamari $9 was light and buttery it was my favorite part of the meal. I got the shrimp scampi $26 which was in a light brown sauce (tasted good but not what I was expecting) it came with 6 average sized shrimp and about 5 bites of pasta. My fiance got pasta il villagio $18- fresh pasta with shrimp, clams, mushrooms & tomatoes. Â I should have really splurged and gotten the zuppa di pesce $35 which my friend recommended, but instead I went the cheaper route.
This little place was definitely good, and worth coming back to, but I will have to save up before returning. Â I believe a lot of locals in the area come here because it seemed like the staff knew a lot of the customers, chatting with them etc. Â One day I will make my way back.
My favorite restaurant. Have been there a few times the past couple of weeks w my husband. Â I can't get enough of their specials - always so creative. The food is top quality with good service. It's a place that makes you feel like you're at home. We were just there last night - had delicious stuffed veal and homemade napolean for dessert.
Review Source:Il Villagio is truly my favorite place to dine! Â I've been to Il Villagio many times with family, friends. and even dined by myself when I want to treat myself to something wonderful! Â The place is small, intimate and has charming bar service. Â Food is just so delicious and never skimpy. Â I particularly am stuck on the Bolognese pasta and the veal Osso Bucco! Â Â I've had the pleasure of getting to know one of the owners; Marco He is genuinely nice and takes pride in his restaurant. Â We are always treated to after dinner drinks which are a nice touch. Â I live in Rockville Centre which is "restaurant heaven", but hate the crowds and can never get a parking space. Â I can honestly say I enjoy going to Malverne where they appreciate their customers.
