I went here with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Â The atmosphere is upscale. Â Very nice, high-end decor with interesting glass wine rack with corks scattered on the floor (in the case). Â This place feels like you are downtown, even though you are in the middle of the suburbs. Â They have a nice patio with great sunset view, which we were able to see from our table inside. Â The staff was professional and friendly.
This place only gets 3 stars for a few reasons: the food was good - not spectacular, my filet was seriously undercooked, and they were missing ingredients for a cocktail I ordered off of their cocktail menu. Â
We started off with 2 appetizers.  The stroganoff meatballs tasted very peppery - I would not recommend.  The other was the bruschetta which I thought was very good.  I ordered the filet cooked medium.  It came to the table extremely rare.  The waitress and kitchen staff put it back on the grill and brought it back cooked just right.  The way the guy told me he fixed it right up for me sounded a little like Ryan Reynold's character in the movie 'Waiting', but I was polite about it, so I'm sure they didn't do anything unsavory.  They also brought back the same steak that I had originally instead of replacing it with a new one, which you might expect from a higher end place like this.  My wife had the chicken caprese which was pretty good.  And the steak (once cooked properly) was pretty good as well - excellent mashed potatoes and asparagus.  We also had the Creme Brûlée (which was free for checking in on Yelp!) which was decent.  I was also disappointed that they could not make the cocktail I ordered.
This place is pretty neat. Â Beautiful, large patio with lots of tables and couches and a nice view of the mountains. Â Their happy hour specials are great - ordered a blue long island iced tea for $5 - very tasty and strong. Â I also ordered the pork tostadas which were awesome. Â If you're in the Highlands Ranch area or just down south, I would definitely recommend stopping in here.
Review Source:Came here May 31st- Disappointed in Groupon deal- it was called the "Tapas Quatrro Plate and a Bottle of Wine for Two"; they valued it at $59! Â My issue is that when the quattro plate arrived with the described tapas: bruschetta, roasted-garlic meatballs, grilled spanish sausage, and sashimi-grade ahi-tuna tartar, it was truly TINY portions; I'm talking a bite or two for each of us of each item (their tapas orders from the menu were what I was expecting- size wise). Â When I added up the value of each of those 4 tapas (average $10 each had we ordered from the menu) plus the bottle of wine, which they only had 3 choices and so told me they valued it at $15 to apply toward any other bottle, well that's where they got the $59 value- VERY MISLEADING! Â I paid $29 expecting $59 of value- call me cheap but I love trying new places using deals, that's why they are out there. Â Instead I was lured in by misleading value.
We ended up ordering more from the menu, including the tuna/avocado from the quattro plate, and the portion size of the tapas from the menu for the price was great! Â Had I received the menu sized portions of the tapas (which is obviously what they used to value the deal), plus my $15 value bottle of wine, then I would have said it was a properly valued deal and would be giving this 5 stars. Â But, instead I feel like they over-inflated the value of the Groupon to get people in the door. Â
The other items we ordered from the menu after our quattro "one-bite" plate were all great- the food was all quite good. Â I can't speak to the wine list as we just tried the Cabernet that was offered with the Groupon deal.
The decor was described perfectly by another Yelper- something along the lines of 2000 era decor trying too hard to be trendy in the suburbs, but it was mostly quiet and overall nice.
Finally, the greeting when I entered was strange.  There was the bartender and 2 servers standing and chatting at the bar in line of sight to the host stand where I was waiting for someone to acknowledge me; it was at least 3 minutes which is a long and awkward time to be ignored at a restaurant waiting to be acknowledged  with staff right there.  The bartender caught my eye once or twice but couldn't be bothered to say anything to me, so I finally asked "Should I wait for someone to seat me?".  At which point, she finally acknowledged me and said "Oh, someone will be right there" and turned to resume her conversation as the hostess finally walked in from the back.  I felt like I was inconveniencing them by interrupting their conversation or something!  And I watched those 3 continue to have multiple extended conversations throughout my time there- very unprofessional in my opinion.
Highlands Ranch isn't exactly the culinary center of Denver, but I was impressed with Indulge! I had purchased a Groupon a while back, so we tried it out for pre-Valentine's Day dinner. Â The strip mall location isn't too exciting, but the interior feels classy and modern, and the glass wall on the west provides a beautiful view of the mountains. Â Our server got swamped toward the end, but was friendly and helpful the whole night, and didn't even bat an eye when I mentioned the Groupon on arrival.
We had:
--a bottle of house prosecco: while not the best sparkling wine I've ever had, it was crisp and refreshing, and only a little sweet.
--bruschetta: this came with the bottle of prosecco as part of the Groupon, and had a traditional tomato slice, a roasted red pepper slice, and a filet mignon slice. Â I think the peppers were my favorite, but all three were nice-- the beef came with blue cheese and a sweet balsamic reduction.
--antipasto board: this had an impressive combination of chorizo, ham, artichokes, mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, sport peppers, and bread. It was good, but by far the priciest thing on the tapas menu. We agreed that next time, we'd order a few other things instead.
--shrimp cocktail: served with a medium salsa instead of cocktail sauce. Plenty of shrimp cooked perfectly, as well as avocado slices and lots of chips for the salsa; I was too full to eat them but they looked good.
--BBQ meatballs: soft poached meatballs in a delicious mustard-based barbecue sauce, with a generous portion of eight meatballs. I would definitely order these again.
The wine list wasn't too creative or long, but they had several nice options. The entrees were on the pricey side, but the tapas were very reasonable, with not-very-small small plates. Â The happy hour menu seemed great and the patio looked very inviting. I'm sure we'll be back for more wine and tapas!
Patio with the fire pits are definitely a plus. Closest best place to hang out to my home...but my latest visit was extremely disappointing.
I had a Groupon for a special appetizer plate and a bottle of wine (priced and advertised for "two"), but after selecting the only sparkling wine that was available to choose from, it was a bottle we had in the fridge at home for which we paid only $5.99 for it from the liquor store. Â Wow, was I bummed to find out I spent $29 for a "deal" for which ended up not really being that great of a deal. I would think businesses offering Groupons would really do their best to provide excellent options for a great price...to get repeat visits from new customers. Unfortunately I found this not to be the case here.
I likely will still go back, but not with a Groupon in hand. :(
Great place! Â Went for a glass of wine and ended up having their special....Mahi Mahi and chips. Â The food was delicious and not greasy at all. Â The waiter gave us the bottle of wine on the house as we had to go find a waiter to take our order. Â We did order the Strawberry pound cake for desert. Â Would have been good other then the fact that it was burned on the edges. Â Still tasted good as long as you skipped the burnt parts. Â Would have given the place 5 stars if not for the desert. Â Great atmosphere for a quiet and romantic glass of wine or just to enjoy wine and great company !
Review Source:I am a total wino. Seriously, I love love love wine bars. However, I came here and had a vodka soda! Whyyyyyyy?? Hubs and I came here for happy hour on Saturday. We sat on the patio- which sports an AMAZING view. Love that. We both started with the $4 hh red wine and it was terrible (not even a "hey, this is $4 so I can choke it down" kind of terrible) and a teeny tiny pour. You know, I get that it's hh and you're not going to just freely pour Stag's Leap in my glass but you are a WINE BAR! There are plenty of cheapo red wines out there that are good. Hence the vodka soda for $4 which was a much better deal. The well is Svedka which is actually pretty good.
Anyhoos- onto the food! We had the Soprano flatbread which is $8 on hh. It was good. It has some tasty mushrooms and supposedly sausage too however, I did not come across any in my probably 40% share of the dish. I'd say this pizza is worth $8 so I would not order it outside of hh.
We then ordered the filet sliders. At $5, it comes with 3 pretty decent sized sliders. The buns are like those sweet hawaiian onces that come in packages of 12 at the supermarket. Love those. Anyway, they were ok.
I think if you want to go one night with a friend, split a bottle of wine, and maybe have some dessert- it could be ok. But otherwise it's pretty over-priced for what it is.
They definitely have a sweet spot in the Ranch though and if you're not down with driving downtown or uptown or to any other town for some vino, it's nice for a little meet up.
We've been coming here since it opened. Â So it's time to Yelp! it.
This visit was with the recent Groupon that gave you a three course Italian dinner for two with a wine flight. Â The dinner was caesar salad, potato-gnocchi entrees with chicken and mushrooms, and sicilian cannolis. Â The flight was a glass of Pinot Grigio, a Vini Menhir Primo, and a Chianti. Â Normal cost is $98 for two.
The meal was disappointing. Â The caesar salad was overdressed in the bottom. Â The gnocchi seemed 'heavy' and the chicken - well just get a chicken breast and some Kroger breading and voila, that's what we had. Â The cannolis tasted sour. Â I thought the wine pours for a flight were a bit skimpy - sure I don't expect a full pour, but for $15 per person it could've been a bit more generous. Â We then bought a 12 oz pour of wine each. Â So...without the groupon, that's a $140 dinner! Â Not worth it at all.
The saving grace was the service. Â The waiter figured out we had a problem with the cannolis and replaced them with a delish creme brulee and a rum cake slice, which was super delish.
This visit aside, I've been here enough to conclude the following. Â If you are looking for a meal, go elsewhere. Â However, if you want to come here for a glass or flight of wine with a tapa (or just skip the tapas and go to the dessert), you'll be fine, although I'd argue Cru has a better by-the-glass selection.
As others have said, the vibe/decor is cool, and the outdoor patio is nice (well, except during the height of the summer since it gets blasted with the sun).
I decided to try Indulge for lunch on a Friday; felt like being leisurely and something yummy. I accomplished both! After perusing the menu I chose the Gyro with sweet potato fries with a side of ranch to dip the fries in. When it arrived it looked and smelled delicious! Did not disappoint; I liked the combo of tzatziki with hummus along with a panini pressed pita with gyro meat, tomato and cucumber as well. I wish there was more gyro meat however! The fries were salted nicely and crisp with the ranch. Friendly laid back service as well. I enjoyed my Friday lunch and will go back to try dinner!
Review Source:Tried this place after buying a Groupon several months ago. It's not close to me and a tad pricey, so I likely would never have gone in without the Groupon.
My husband and I had items from the prix fixe menu and added a bottle of wine. The wine was a tad pricey at $45 for the bottle (and this was one of the cheaper bottles) but the waiter was knowledgeable and gave plenty of recommendations based on the entrees we ordered. Plus, the selection is vast!
We started our meal with a roasted red pepper bisque that was delicious! It had just the right amount of spice in it and I loved that they bring out small slices of baguette rather than a giant loaf of bread. The salad was a greek salad with kalamata olives, feta, and a tzatziki dressing. We were both pleased with it. For our entrees, my husband ordered the New York strip and fries while I ordered the wild salmon with a mixed berry BBQ glaze. We both enjoyed our meals, but they weren't anything special. The dessert was absolutely delicious, though! We got the croissant bread pudding. So so good!
This place had a really great atmosphere. It was great for a romantic night out, but I probably won't ever go again. The normal price for the 4-course dinner is $80 for a couple. Add our bottle of wine and tip to that and without a Groupon we would have spent at least $150. Plus, it's a bit of a drive for us out in Highland's Ranch. For the price, I'd rather skip the wine and just spend the money on really amazing food! My final verdict is that this is a decent place to go on a special occasion (especially if you're in the Highland's Ranch area) and the staff is friendly, but it's not a place I would go out of the way for.
Like a fine wine, I think Indulge is improving over the years. Â While the vibe has always been cool, especially for the height of suburbia that is Highlands Ranch, I at first thought prices were too high. Â Enter happy hour to save the day! Â Glasses of wine for around $5. Â Incredibly yummy french fries (the thin crispy kind) for $3. Â And a plethora of delicious mini-meatballs for $5. Â Plus, we had attentive and friendly service. Â Add to that, a table with a view to watch the sunset and later the firepits on the patio, and you've got a winner. Â (And, in nice weather, the patio is the place to be.)
I have not been for actual dinner yet. Â (They have a price fixe menu as well as individual entrees.) Â But, I think I may need to more regularly avail myself to their happy hour. Â Cin cin!
I purchased a Groupon believing that it was for Indulge in Highlands NW Denver on 38th Avenue. Wrong. It was for Highlands Ranch. Although it was a bit of a drive for us it was the best mistake I have ever made. For $20 per person we added the wine pairings. It was worth it. We started out with a bisque, Greek salad, I had the pesto gnocchi, and my husband had the scallops. The portion of gnocchi was so large half of it went home in a box. We followed it all up with the chocolate fondue. We had a great time the food was fabulous and decided that in the future we would make this a destination restaurant.
Review Source:I was here for a Yelp event (which was great!), but afterward we went into the dining room for dinner. Having already feasted on some appetizers during the event, we went for a light dinner of margarita flatbread and roasted red pepper hummus.
The flatbread was great - especially the crust which was nice and salty! The pitas that came with the hummus were tasty as well. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the hummus itself - it tasted a bit too processed, like store-bought products.
If you're here during the summer, you must eat outside on the patio! Spectacular views of the Rockies!
It's sufficient for a wine bar. The service was a bit slow on a night that was completely slow. I take that they have a lot of local and regulars that come to the area. I wouldn't say it stands out from anything and the prices are pretty fair. I saw opus one being sold for 200 which is a steal! I'm new to the area and it seems to be the only one within close range in the highlands ranch area vs going all the way to park meadows. I tried the Silver Palm wine and was satisfied. The price was a bit more marked up on the lower end bottle of wine than the expensive one's. I might come back and give it a second try.
Review Source:Bought a Groupon because one of my best friends lives across from Indulge. Â Thought this was a good idea for us to have a girl's night out...not so much.
The waitress stopped by to bring us menus and water. Â Having not looked at the wine list, we had no idea what we wanted to drink. Â No worries, we had plenty of time...wasn't sure the waitress was ever coming back. Â When she finally did, we ordered our wine and got it quickly. Â The wines seemed a bit overpriced, especially for Highlands Ranch.
So with the Groupon, we got the prix fixe menu. Â Started with a creamy tomato soup which was rather bland, and neither of us finished it, which went unnoticed by our waitress. Â Then there was a beet and blue cheese salad (normally a favorite of mine) which was average with overly sweet dressing, not enough beets (only 2 halves), and no nuts to balance the flavors. Â Once again, we did not finish, and there was no question as to how our food was or if we liked it.
On to the main course. Â We both got the sea bass which had no flavor and we both barely touched. Â Somewhere during our dinner, our waitress went home, and when the server from the table behind us took over, he seemed to want to be done with us. Â We hardly touched our food, and he wasn't interested. Â Just asked if he could bring our check. Â We pointed out to him that we were supposed to get dessert that we had pre-ordered. Â I had chosen not to get dessert because there were 3 sub-par choices. Â None of them contained any chocolate...WHAT? Â I think they do that on purpose on the prix fixe menu so you won't be tempted. Â My friend got creme brulee to go for her husband. Â Very disappointing.
What was also disappointing was that the restaurant was not crowded, yet we were seated right next to another table (of 4), and we could hear almost every word of their conversation they were that close. Â Also, the waitstaff kept bumping into me and knocking into my purse. Â It was uncomfortable.
So how did this place squeeze out 3 stars? Â Not based on the food or waitstaff service.
The highlight of the night was the bartender, Toni. Â Upon finishing our dinner, my friend and I decided to have another drink at the bar. Â The bartender and I recognized each other immediately from another establishment where she used to tend bar, and we ended up having a couple more drinks laughing and talking. Â I will definitely be back for DRINKS AT THE BAR when in Highlands Ranch on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday, the nights Toni said she works. Â You should go in on one of those nights as well...if you're a man you will find Toni pleasing to the eyes, and ladies will find her funny and a confidante. Â She also knows how to mix some great drinks, which when you are tired of the overpriced wine, is an asset!
I recently visited Indulge again and have decided to lower the rating. I went for happy hour and I had to ask if they still have happy hour. They said, yes, for another 30 mins. The food selection is so poor. I can't really find anything new to eat there. of course the usual stuff are still great, the steak sliders (that they don't even have on the regular menu anymore) and the flatbread, it used to be any flatbread for half price, now it's just today's special's flatbread.
on top of that, my service was pretty bad. the waiter refilled my drink only once (i had a lemonade) and disappeared. he brought out the food and disappeared. there was no thank you, no greeting of any kind. there were so many servers too. just walking around. how many do you need??? should just stick with a few that can do the job right! i would rather not give him any tip at all but knew that i needed to.
they aren't really hurting though, so not likely they are going to change. the place was packed with wine drinkers. i probably wouldn't go back there again. it's close to my house but next time i'll go find some place else for as good of wine and way nicer service.
so one day we decided to come here for girls night out, we where having such a great time, laughing and enjoying the good food, then our bill comes out and we noticed that we got charged a 20% gratuity but we where not a party of 6 or more..weird right!?!? So anyway one of us had a restaurant coupon and she handed it to our waiter and he goes and applies the coupon, when he returned the billed looked a little odd... we had a gratuity of 20% from the first time PLUS ADDITIONAL gratuity!!! wtf... I KNOW RIGHT... on my credit card i was charged 40 plus 12 for gratuity and THEN plus 8  for additional gratuity, meaning i was tipping $20 bucks on a 40 dollar  bill!!!! we spit the bill too so my cousin also was tipping 20 bucks on a 40 dollar bill. Also i spoke to a manager to ask the protocol gratuity and he told me 6 or more, but my cousin who had eaten there before a party of 2 was also charge 20% So basically BEWARE when you come to this restuarant they are shady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but yelpers don't you worry for me because i had everything fixed before leaving indulge...
This place had so much potential, but it just doesn't do it for me. I've been here twice, and that's enough for me. Their menu is heavy on flatbread-type items, and they don't have enough variety. While nothing is terrible, nothing is great. It's all just ok, which is not what I would expect from a tapas restaurant.
Review Source:Good food, decent wine selection, extremely overpriced.
A friend realized she had a Groupon that was about to expire, so we headed over to Indulge for lunch today. It was hella hot, so we opted for eating inside rather than outside. Even inside, there was a nice view of the mountains. The interior of the place is kind of club/lounge style. The patio had some cool, couch-type furniture.
There is one page for white wines by the glass and 2 pages of red wines by the glass. I got the Prosecco and my friend got the Riesling. We were both pleased with our choices.
I had the Forrest Gump Flatbread with alfredo sauce, spinach & rock shrimp. It was pretty fantastic. My friend had the greek salad with chicken that also looked quite good.
Then came the bill. $45 for 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine???? at lunchtime no less. Well, thank goodness we had a $25 Groupon. We paid and blew outta there.
This is a cool little spot, but if I'm going to blow some money, its gonna be on a slab of buffalo or sushi, not on a freakin flatbread. Next!
I like tapas, and I like wine. Â When I got a coupon in the mail for a free small plate at Indulge, I thought it might make for a fun place for dinner.
We liked the atmosphere at Indulge. Â It definitely has a cool wine bar vibe. Â There's a tall glass case with bottles of wine in the middle of the restaurant, and the booths are high-backed with dark wood. Â Service was solid, too.
We ordered a Pinot flight (all three wines were great) and a Snickers martini (yum!) for drinks - definite winners. Â For food we had the lettuce cup with pork, the bruschetta with steak and the gnocchi. Â All three were... well, disappointing. Â The lettuce cups were probably the least disappointing, as our expectations were low but they tasted pretty good. Â The bruschetta with steak was a big letdown - the steak seemed horribly overdone and tough. Â The gnocchi with mushrooms had a nice taste, but somehow the soft gnocchi texture combined with the soft mushroom texture was just too much squishiness. Â
One of the most disappointing things was dessert. Â Each of us has a strong sweet tooth, and usually we're lusting over the dessert options while we're figuring out what we want for our meal. Â There were about six different desserts listed on the menu, but none of them were even a little bit exciting to us. Â After the disappointing main dishes, we decided to forgo dessert.
I think Indulge has potential. Â Good location, good drinks, good service, good ambiance... mediocre food. Â That's a big problem for a restaurant, but I'm hoping they'll get it fixed.
My wife and I had 1.5 hours in Highlands Ranch during our daughter's soccer practice.
On impulse we popped into Indulge. Â We were seated in one of the comfy pit areas on the back patio. Â As it turned out, the weather was perfect and we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset...mother nature's treat, however Indulge still gets credit for creating the opportunity :-)
We ordered two wine flights (French and Italian) thinking we would get small samples of each wine. Â We were surprised to receive what I would consider almost full portions of each wine, and quickly had to go into "who's the designated driver" mode. Â The wines themselves were differentiated enough to be able to appreciate the subtle flavors.
Our food selections were the Spring Onion Tart, Cheese Platter, and Kobe sliders. Â Of the three, the first two were very good and latter only middle of the road. Â In general, Â good enough for tapas and at a reasonable price.
The service was actually quite good, despite being fairly busy. Â Our waiter was fast, friendly, engaging, and reasonably knowledgeable about the wines. Â
Overall 4 out of 5...we would definitely go back, and also recommend it to our friends.
cheese tray, kobe sliders
Ambience concept is really good, but for me, tables are to close to each other, so it feels kind of akward to be in a wine cellar bar but cramped inside.
Service was okay. We had some wines after dinner and desserts. Had the bread pudding which came with couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, but pudding itself was not very enticing, looked like a french baguette slice with spices in it.
Maybe it's because it was a Tuesday, but my experience was nothing like that of some of the other reviewers. I had a great time, and I've been to plenty of wine/tapas bars in LA...
It was quiet -- no cover bands, no music except the clink of wine glasses and dinner conversation. I sat at the bar and was able to converse with the bartender (side story -- they have a bottle of brandy sitting on their top shelf that has a whole pear in it. I asked her what it was, and she told me it was a German brandy. I guess the bottle is put over the pear before it's really started to grow and it stays there until they cut the branch off, then bottle the brandy around the fruit1)
I started with the Tour de France wine flight - it caught my eye because it didn't have Californian wine, and the bartender mentioned that it was her favorite. The flight included 2 reds and a white. The size of the pours was great! I've definitely seen that same size "tasting" sold as a full glass of wine in LA restaurants. The wine glasses were substantial, which I suppose they'd have to be so no one snaps the stems while standing at the bar!
I asked what food she recommended and was really impressed when she worked to pair the food with my wine choices. She suggested the spinach salad to go with the Vouviay and when she found out they didn't have any spinach she asked the chef if they could make the salad with another type of lettuce. I really felt like she was going the extra mile to make my dinner that much more enjoyable! I got the Steak Sliders to go with the reds - I'm a big fan of horseradish, so the red pepper horseradish cream caught my attention. The salad was delicious (there were spicy chopped nuts mixed into the salad, which was a great compliment to the fresh oranges) Â and the sliders were good (the steak was a bit chewy for my taste, but I definitely had to restrain myself from asking for more red pepper horseradish cream, so it evened out the plate)
It was a little strange that they had a couple of TVs above the bar (took a bit away from the ambience), and I'll agree that the location isn't the most trendy, but the wine selection was extensive and the tasting options were exactly what I wish more restaurants would offer. There were quite a few people who came in over the course of my dinner -- the tables overlooking the hill and the sunset were always full and a lot of people stopped at the bar to wait for a one to open up. There was a private dining room off of the entrance and the bartender was telling me about the Wine Dinners they have in there every month. I wish I lived closer - it seems like it would be a lot of fun to try one out.
4 stars - I definitely want to come back!
My experience at Indulge Wine Bar was exactly meh. From the start, the hostesses were indifferent, we were seated toward the back of the restaurant, which boasts a decent view of the mountains, but was rather LOUD. I mean, it was hard to hear my date LOUD.
The server was friendly enough but not very knowledgeable about wines. I'm sorry, but, it's a Wine Bar.
The food tries to be tapas but doesn't quite get there. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the wine bars and small plates boutique eateries I've enjoyed in NY. That being said, each of our selections, the olives, the mac n' cheese, and the sliders were all underwhelming. Sub par, actually.
Indulge may also want to consider decanters to allow for red wine to breathe. I did like the red wine glasses. I didn't like the minimal and mediocre dessert selections. If this is supposed to be indulgent you've got to get yourself a pastry chef.
I can't see a good reason to go back. Caveau wine bar in Denver was a far superior wine bar experience and quite a bit less expensive (our tab at indulge was 120 for a half bottle of wine, olives and two small plates of food).
I don't mind paying for an indulgent evening as long as its worth it...This INDULGEnce was not.
Let's face it, Highlands Ranch is in NEED of more restaurants and night life for the locals.
Perhaps Indulge is attempting to fill some of that void, but it feels like it's trying too hard, and also trying to get away with something in the process. It feels like, they are saying..."How long can we get away with this concept, before business starts dropping off??"
I usually hate reviews that knock a place based on the prices it charges, so be forewarned. This place costs a few bucks. And the food...marginal at best. I understand the concept of small plates. Totally get it. But, I've eaten here 3 times, and now am thoroughly convinced, its overpriced and sometimes overcooked.
The wine list is quite extensive, and has something for everyone...even glasses of wine in excess of $18. If premium vodka is more your style, go and order a nice glass of Charbay Ruby Red (grapefruit flavored) for $11 a glass. If you're ok with paying this kind of money in the suburbs...go for it, you'll love this place.
I honestly wished the food was better for the money. Sadly it's not. But this establishment will attract a vapid crowd that is there for more than the quality of the food, and value. So, we'll see.
Tapas = Small plates. I see other reviews on here and people are surprised about the size of the plates. This stands as testament to our severe lack of culture or sophistication in this part of the world.
Certainly, Indulge is a bit more cosmopolitan than anything else in the area, both in its ambiance and on its menu. The wine selection is good and the service that we received was wonderful. The flatware is delightfully original. There's fire pits on the patio. The decor is sophisticated.
However, as to be expected: Indulge is filled with the sheep of Highlands Ranch. There are yahoos galore - and it's only going to get worse. On a Friday night, the place is loud - so don't expect an intimate conversation, you'll be doing a lot of yelling. The bar area is small - on a weekend night you'll have to sit at a table, probably in the back. And the cover band that played the night we were there was surprisingly good for what they did - but really: a cover band at an upscale tapas, wine and dessert restaurant and bar? Oh my. A jazz band would have been much more appropriate.
So while everybody is surprised and delighted that such a place exists in the Ranch, shouldn't we have higher expectations than our standard restaurant chains?
I've been the Indulge two times now since they opened. Â The first time was the first week they opened , I went alone with my husband. Â The second time I went last week with a group of 8 women.
I had a great experience both times. Â As mentioned, wine and tapas are their specialty...... I would not recommend it for anyone looking for a big hearty meal, it is definitely drinks and things to nibble on. Â I appreciated the wine suggestions throughout the menu, and also was happy about their list of 30 different bottles of wines that are available for less than $30. Â
I chose both times to do a flight of wines that was paired with a flight of tapas. Â These were reasonable priced, between $15-20 to do this type of flight pairing. Â I was happy with the selection of vegetarian options given that the menu is just 2 pages long. Â For the meat-eaters, they did have some great options there too. Â They even had a version of sliders for those that want some comfort food.
When I came as a large group, we ordered the nuts, and the cheese board to share as a group, and then we each ordered our own tapa(s). Â That worked really well. Â I do think it would be a hard place to share bottles of wine, even though they have that awesome 30 bottles for under $30 thing, just because each tapa is so specifically meant to be paired with a certain wine. Â Everyone ordered such different things, we couldn't figure out a way to share any.
Another plus, when I came with the group of 8, we didn't ask her to do this, but out waitress split our check 8 ways for us, and gave us each our own bill. Â That was SO nice. Â
Up until now, The Old Blinking Light has been the only other non-chain restaurant in Highlands Ranch with decent food. Â I am so happy to see this new addition to the neighborhood. Â I'll be back! Â Soon I hope :)
I've been waiting for Indulge to open since the sign first went up months ago! Â I did some Google sleuthing and found their website to further pique my interest. Â Wine, Tapas (small plates for those that don't speak foodie), and Dessert. Â My three loves! Â I signed up for their newsletter on the spot. Â Delinda, one of the owners, even wrote to me and we've exchanged emails regarding my excitement for the new concept and the shameless plugs for my band to play in her space. Â :)
I got notice of their opening, but the night I drove through the newly developed strip mall lot, there was no parking and the place was packed. Â I knew I could wait for a better night. Â Finally, the boyfriend and I stopped in for a quick peek before a dinner party we had to attend. Â
The inside is Sa-wank-eee. Â That is to say, it's even better than just plain swanky. Â The darker colors and wood tones are offset by the wall of wine enclosed in glass and the artistic paintings on the ceiling. Â I especially loved the "chandelier" over the hostess station. Â Stars for atmosphere and decor!
We sat at the bar since we were just there for a brief intro. Â I had to scope out the menu and I can't wait to go back and order one of everything on there! Â The chef has a history with beef so I was happy to see some new cuts featured. Â We settled on Vouvray for me (yum!) and a nice Pinot Noir for him. Â We also got the daily cheese plate. Â The cheese/food pairings had been thought out and it was apparent that it wasn't just haphazardly put on the plate. Â It even came with a chocolate/hazelnut disk, which actually looked like hand cut salami. Â Nice play on presentation!
The servers were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Â I would have no fear of leaving my wine selection completely up to them to pair with my food. Â They also have a great selection of drinks--I hypothesize that you can tell a lot about a place by it's drink creations. Â
Keep this in mind, it's small plates--so don't come here expecting gigantic plates, heaping with piles of food. Â Not gonna find it. Â This is a place to come and enjoy your surroundings, enjoy the company you're with and enjoy the delicate tastes and beautiful presentation of the well-thought-out food.
I'll be back many times! Â It helps that I can walk there--yeah for cool stuff happening in Highlands Ranch!
