Love how I don't have to rush to get a decent seat. Reserving my seat is so convenient and the regular seats are very roomy. Food is pretty good too, although crazy pricey like all movie theaters. If you do plan to order food from there, plan to go a little early since there could be a line and the food takes a while since they make it to order.
Review Source:Hands down the best theater there is....
Super comfortable chairs (leather lounge chairs -$12.50 (member price, sign up is free)
Plush reclining chairs, pillow, blanket, free popcorn $18.50 (member price)
Swanky lounge atmosphere in the lobby with gas fireplaces, pool tables, great cocktails.
Theaters are small (50-80 people max) and very limited amount of kids, it's mostly young couples and older crowd that don't spend the whole time texting and talking like annoying teenagers at AMC theaters.
Drinks, popcorn, candy etc are a little bit on the expensive side but i would much rather pay some higher prices on that to have a nice quiet, comfortable movie night. Another nice part is that you can buy tix online and pick your seats..no need to come early and wait in line to get a good seat.
Go to a normal movie theater and it's mostly 17-20 year olds working there who don't give a crap about the customer....I went to the Iron man 3 premier the other week and halfway through the movie i had to use the bathroom and get a refill on my Coke. I walk out of the theater and a guy asks me "SIR CAN I REFILL YOUR DRINK?" I was totally blown away. That's some A+ service!!!
Seriously don't waste your time at other theaters, go to IPIC and be happy.
The place is beautiful. The lounge area is great. The drinks are great. The food is delicious. However, the service is lacking. I used to come here a lot when it was Gold Class Cinema. Back then all of the seating was premium plus. Now it is more casual. This was my first time visiting since it turned in to iPic. One thing I noticed was the amount of children, I remember it used to be 21 and over. But, I was able to get past the group of children screaming over the pool table. I went with the premium plus seating, which is still extremely comfortable and comes with a nice, warm blanket and a comfortable pillow. However, there used to be a button you could press whenever you needed service or wanted to order another drink- that is gone. My biggest problem here is with the service. If it was not for that, I would have been completely happy. Everything was great until we entered the actual theater. We sat in our seats, got comfortable, and then the server came to take our order. Ah, where do I begin? First of all, we wanted to order lots of things. Our plan was to order the flatbread pizza, sweet potatoe fries, wings, nachos, and fish sandwich. Yes, I know it sounds like a lot, but we still wanted to try all of it. As I am ordering, I said to hang on as I wanted to finish reading through the menu to see if there was anything else I wanted. The waitress said "oh that's a lot of food" and took the menu. Then, someone else came to check on us and I had to tell him that I wanted more food and he had to go grab her. This is all during the previews of the movie. The plan was also to keep drinking throughout the movie. But, the waitress brought us the check 20 minutes in to the movie. 1) I did not ask for the check yet. I wanted to keep drinking, especially since there were 2 more hours left of the movie. 2) It was rude. Then, she kept coming back asking if she could take the bill back yet. Since I felt rushed, I gave her my card so she could leave us alone. Then, she comes back with a flashlight so I can sign the bill. REALLY?!?! Way to interrupt the movie. It was beyond annoying. Why could she not wait until the end of the movie? So, after she took the check, I did not see her again. I did not get to order any more drinks. And I could not even get water when I was thirsty. They should have just left the buttons there to avoid this problem. This whole incident ruined the entire experience. It was sooooo much better when it was Gold Class. Considering I spent $250 at a movie theater, I would expect better service than that. Also, I would have spent much more if she would have not been rushing me and would have came back so we could keep drinking. It was ridiculous.
Review Source:I tried this place last night. I like the layout of the movie theaters but I didn't care for the food or service. I think a person paying that much for the movies should have their food bought to them. I spent almost $100 in that place. And we got the premium seats, which means the "cheaper ones" with nice chairs. The order takers are expecting tips??? I can see the bartender but not everyone in the place. I would love to tip a server that brings my food and drinks while I'm watching a movie. I think it's wayyy too expensive and not worth the drive.
Review Source:I do not think there is a darn thing I do not like about this place:
Great drink selection
Awesome food choices (some of my favorite dishes in the world are here)
Impresses friends (and the ladies ....)
Comfy seats
Awesome staff
Clean and comfortable lounge areas and facilities
Free pool ...yay
Overall just a wonderfully luxurious experience. Â Obviously this is at the top rung of movie going experiences in the area, and they do it well. Â Since there is literally nothing else in the area that comes close, I have no point of reference ...but, there is Hollywood and Studio movie grill, which try to offer this level, but fall well short.
Tips:
If you are running within 10-20 minutes of showtime ...just order food and drink from your seats. Â Otherwise ....just get there about an hour beforehand to grab a great bite, and a couple drinks before the show ...you will not be disappointed.
I went to the ipic theaters because I usually go to muvico and wanted to see how ipic was in regard to muvico. Â They are the same price for the VIP only at ipic you get comfy chairs that recline and a pillow and blanket so I wanted to see if this was worth it. Â I would say that it is definitely worth the extra drive just for the experience. Â Parking was absolutely no problem at all. Â my grandma had brought her handicapped sign because she was worried we wouldnt get a good spot, but this was no problem in their big lovely parking lot.
Walking in the theater it was just so beautiful and such a romantically setting. Â Everyone working there was so nice. Â The fireplace was gorgeous and I could really see myself spending hours there. Â Then we walked in to our movie and there were three staff there just waiting to help us. Â They helped us find out seat and we had noticed out complimentary popcorn had spilled on the seat so they cleaned it up for us and in return we got another popcorn and a coke for free. Â They were so nice about it and so accommodating. Â At one point in the movie I even told my grandma how I had felt at home. Â The seats were so comfortable and you couldn't hear others in the movie. Â It was a great movie going experience and I will definitely have to bring my husband there next time.
I hate to do this, b/c most places I review get 5 stars. Â Yesterday my husband and I went here to hang out for a few hours. Â When you are spending $40 for 2 "VIP" tickets, $15 per drink and $15 per entree you definitely have certain expectations. Â Of course there are a few drinks and items slightly under this price.
I think the decorations are nice and the restaurant looks pretty, but the food is horrible. Â We ordered the fish and chips and I had to stop eating it b/c it was making us both sick. Â The fish just fell out of the breading each time you took a bite and it was greasy. Â the presentation was nice, but again the taste wasn't good. Â I had to make my husband and I lemon water at the table to cut the grease, ughh. Â So the chef was nice enough to replace one of the meals with the angus burgers. Â Please don't let me get started on those, OMG... can we say just go to white castles, seriously $15 for 3 mini burgers with no seasoning and no fries, come on. Â
I will stick to Muvico, the VIP section there is actually VIP and seperate from other groups and there food is good. Â
This is a nice place for people that don't want to go to AMC. Â Not a good place for people that are used to something nicer.
I will say their service is 5 stars and their staff is nice and respectuful so you should not have a problem there.
I like this theater because of the comfy seats (premium section) and the fact that you won't have people kicking the back of your chair like at AMC. Also, not many obnoxious teenagers can afford to come here so you can watch your movie in peace. Reserving your seats online is also a nice touch.
However, the food is not worth the price. Selection is also limited. Popcorn is decent.
I was contacted by iPic Theaters for my glowing review and was offered an exclusive invitation with one guest, to the theater.
I was thrilled to be invited, and figured what better opportunity to use for a date night with my husband.
My husband had never been to the theater before, and he was floored when he walked thru the doors. We were treated like royalty. We ordered our food & drinks, and when the food was ready, we were shown to our seats with our food.
The food was delicious (and seriously - they have tater tots - who DOESN'T love tater tots?) and I still get such a kick out of reclining and covering up with a blanket while I watch the movie. I swear, you don't want the movie to end because you are so comfy and snuggly in the chair.
So, once again -- I give them 5 stars. For the ambiance, the cleanliness, the good food, and the STELLAR service!!!!!
iPic Theaters takes the movie theater experience to a whole new level.
This has definitely become my new favorite theater. Â Their seats are amazing: plush, real arm rests with drink holders that won't leak out the bottom, and nice, cushy backs. Â Comfort-wise, I'd say it's even better than what I have at home! Â Each seat even comes with its own swing-out side table where you can rest your food. Â iPic also offers "premium plus" seating that includes a foot rest, blankets, pillows, and a waiter who will bring you food up until the movie begins for just $5 more.
Another notable difference with this theater is their food. Â No icees, stale nachos, or hot dogs here. Â Everything is way more fancy. Â Instead, they have truffle fries, mini burgers, flatbreads and paninis. Â Heck, you could eat your dinner while you watch a movie! Â My only gripe is that their popcorn doesn't compare with classic movie theater popcorn. Â They use real butter, and the taste just doesn't quite cut it for me.
When you purchase tickets, you choose where you want to sit (either online beforehand, or at the kiosks in the theater), so there's no risk of having to split up because the theater is sold out. Â Best of all? Â Sign up for their free membership program, and you'll get discounted rates! Â For their basic seats, you'll pay the same price that you'd pay at AMC -- and what you get for that price is ten times better!
However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a date or a big group -- the seats are bigger and better and thus farther apart so you can feel a little disconnected from those you came with. Â But if you want to see the latest new-release that you've been counting down the days for, iPic is the place to go. Â The movie viewing experience just doesn't compare anywhere else.
This place really is very fun, the food is good, and it all makes movie going into a major experience, but I simply can't reason away the price. Â You can easily drop $200+ dollars for one or two people, at any ticket tier, and with or without their discount program. Â Now that might be fun for holidays, birthdays and major event movies (the kind people see at midnight), but I can't imagine going here on a regular weekend to see the latest "Mudane Comedy Movie" starring Jane Bland and Joe Unoffensive. Â It's just not worth making this a regular weekend kind of place for entertainment that is so disposable. Â We;ve been here for my birthday and for Valentines and it was a fun experience but it could never more more common than that for me.
Review Source:This place...woah. I've been to nice theaters before...and I've been to theaters that had a restaurant as well. But iPic really surpasses them all.
First off, you walk into this place, and it's like a hotel. They have a whole lounge area with a fireplace that you can sit in while you wait for your theater to open up. They have a front desk where you get your tickets. And they have an entire bar/restaurant that you can get a drink or eat at before or after your movie. Fancy!
A few recommendations - sign up for a free membership and get discounted prices, and treat yourself at least once to the Premium Plus Seating. All of the seats are very nice, but the Premium seating doesn't give you any of the awesome perks. We upgraded, which comes with huge, fully reclinable - yes RECLINING - chairs, a small bag of popcorn, a pillow and blanket, and waiter service. Totally worth the upgrade.
The service was great. They can take your order up until the previews are over, but you can order dessert or other items to be brought out later. They are very good about not coming around too much so your movie isn't interrupted. Â The menu has something for everyone. We got the Angus Burger Trio, Truffle Fries, and the Death By Chocolate. Everything tasted amazing. It was a little hard to eat in the dark, but you figure it out.
My only beefs with this place are the prices and the cleanliness. I didn't feel that our three tiny burgers were worth $15. The pillow was little, as well as the popcorn. It's definitely a place you come to as a treat. There were some crusties on the blanket and chairs, and a bunch of popcorn in between the seats. Otherwise, this place surpasses all other theaters!
I'm a true believer in you get what you pay for, and this place is well worth the few extra bucks!!!! First off you get an assigned seat. So no more waiting an hour outside the theater to get the good seats. The big one for me is there is plenty of space between the rows so no one is kicking the back of your seat.... THIS IS HUGE!!!!! Another big plus here is there is NO extra charge for 3D movies! They have nice comfy leather seats in the non premium plus. The premium plus is where you want to be for those 3 hour flicks. You get to put you feet up as these chairs recline, a blanket and pillow is provided. Â For the 1st 20 minutes you have food service in your seats. They have a pretty good variety of food and drinks on the menu. Â You really can't go wrong with anything you get! Fun place with a friendly staff. Well worth the extra few $$$$!
Review Source:You have not experienced the ultimate in movie watching until you experience an iPic. Â Â The only thing that would have made this more comfortable is if I could watch the movie in my underwear (on a side note --- I may have actually tried this until the people next to me threatened to call the police!)
So my gal and I went to see Django Unchained tonight (GREAT movie, by the way!!)  We walked in and had not made reservations, but being a weekday they still had seating available in the "extra fancy" section.   Cheapskates Beware!!!   Not the cheapest movie tickets.  $37 for 2 tickets!!   But it buys you reclining chairs, pillows, blankets, and a whole, "it's like being at home without the kids interrupting you to spit shine their Strawberry Shortcake DVD so it stops skipping in the other room" experience.
We arrived pretty close to start time, so we didn't get to lounge at the bar at all.   It's a pretty nice place.  Bar.  Pool table.  TV's.   It's a very cool pre-movie experience if you have the time.
I've been here previously when someone showed us to our seats, but this time we were on our own.  Since we were not first timers, we confidently went by ourselves to locate our seats.   Unfortunately, our confidence diminished a bit when we went to the upper seating to discover that our seats were not there AND we were trapped in a barred off area.   After we shook off that nagging "dumb-A" feeling and convinced ourselves that the people who were already seated there were looking at their menu's and not shaking their heads at our ridiculousness, we backtracked and went to find our real seats.
When we found them our pillow and blanket were sitting there waiting for a little snuggle time which we quickly rewarded them with.  A waiter came by (YES --- they serve food and take orders throughout the previews.)   We ordered a couple drinks.  She ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and I ordered a Stella.   After being told they were out of Stella, I ordered a Blue Moon.   After being told they were out of Blue Moon (REALLY!!!  REALLY!!!) I finally settled on a Fat Tire and the Beer Fairy finally granted me 23 ounces of deliciousness.  Â
My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque and I ordered some Sweet Chili Wings and Tater Tots with a Coconut Thai Shrimp appetizer.    The Coconut Shrimp were pretty good, the wings were yummy, and the Tater Tots were Fantastic!  My lady said her meal was just "alright" (although she had gotten this the last time we were here and she LOVED it).
As far as the movie ---- the picture was good, the sound was good, and it was soooooooo very, very comfortable.   I'd highly recommend this place.   Overall, we dropped about $120 between the movie, drinks, and food, so if you're looking for a cheap date, you'll want to avoid this.
I would also like to leave you with the Bob Taco Tip of the Day.   If you drink two 23 oz beers and a water, GO to a movie that you won't enjoy OR one that is NOT 2 hrs and 45 minutes long.   My legs actually went numb because of how bad I had to pee by the end of the flick.
WOW. WOW.WOW.
Did I mention - WOW..?! I think I've died and gone to movie heaven. This place is amazing. I am a total movie junkie. I go at least twice a month. I just recently heard about this place and had to check it out. Now, I'd heard it was nice and all, but I guess I just didn't expect it to be THIS NICE. The whole thing is a full movie-going "experience" Â I would say.
It starts from the moment you walk in the doors. Upon entering, there is a kiosk where employees greet you. Here is where you either purchase tickets or pick-up tickets already purchased online. Now, I'd gone to the website the night before and selected our movie, time, and SEATS! Yes, you heard right, you can pick your seats online! Which means you don't have to get there a half-hour early to find decent seats.
From the front desk, you see a lounge area, a billiards area, and a fireplace/couches/hang-out area. They've got these beautiful different "areas" to choose from. They have the actual theatre rooms hidden in the back.
Now, time-wise we were cuttin' it close. We only had about 5 minutes till our movie started. They'd asked if we'd been there before and we said "no", so they gave us the 30-second rundown of where to go and what to do. We found our movie theatre and went in, and an employee confirmed which seats were ours.
This is where my personal enjoyment came in: Beautiful, soft, leather, reclining seats. With tables! And a personal blankie and pillow, and popcorn sitting there waiting for us. (OH EM GEE. HEAVEN.) We sat down and got comfy, and a waiter came around to get our drink (and any other food we'd like) orders. They provide wait-service for the first 20 minutes or so of the movie.
The waiter was nice enough. The seats were A-mazing. The popcorn was delicious.
I just can't say enough to express what a wonderful experience this was!! We saw 'The Hobbit', which was a three hour movie, and we were so comfortable the entire time!! No more sore back and not enough room to adjust around, etc.. We were so comfy we didn't want to  get up once the movie was over! We wanted to sit and chat.
I will ABSOLUTELY be back. SOON. I don't know that I'll ever be able to look at a regular theatre the same way. They'll all be junk after this! Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford to come here all the time. It is a wee-bit expensive. It was just under $20 per ticket. Plus then you have to pay for any additional food and tip the waiter. But for special movies or nights, maybe once a month or so, this could totally be worth it.
They do have cheaper seats (like $13??) that also looked very nice. I've heard they're very comfortable as well. But no-way. Now that I've been spoiled I will forever want that super-duper-fancy-schmancy reclining seat. Oh yeah. Come to Mama.
I can definitely recommend this place. No. Wait. I don't want to recommend this place now that I think of it. Because the more people that know about it the busier it will get and you fools will take my seats...!! LOL. Yes, I would definitely suggest buying tickets in advance. We were originally looking to see an evening film but the good seats were sold-out, so we opted for an early afternoon movie instead.
EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE. A must-try for any movie lover.
Went here last night with my best friend. She bought the tickets online so instead of waiting in line we printed our tickets at the little kiosks they have to the side. We didn't know what to do from that point so we walked to the theaters and there wasn't anyone in there so we walked back to the front desk and we were helped by a nice guy who told us how it works.
You print your tickets, then you have the option to wait at the bar (salt room) or in what I call the common area by the fireplace. He said they would announce when they were going to start seating for our movie, and we'd be directed to our seats. We waited in the common area and it was really nice. The decor they have is awesome and the salt room has pool tables and a full bar to entertain you while you wait.
You have the option to order from the menu while you wait and you can bring your food into the theater with you. Since we had premium plus seating, we decided to wait since we would have a waitress come to us inside the theater.
It was getting closer to show time and we didn't hear anything announced so we decided to just walk back to the theater and everyone was in their seats. So they didn't really announce anything at all. Also, the movie we saw was in 3D so when you print your tickets from the express kiosk you have to go to the front desk to ask for the 3D glasses.
The theater is very nice and spacious. The premium plus chairs are very comfy and big so I had enough room to have my huge purse and coat by me without feeling uncomfortable. They provide you with a small pillow and blanket, which is nice since I'm always cold. However, my pillow had some odd booger-type stain on it and it creeped me out so I threw it to the side and didn't use it. The blanket passed my inspection so I used it.
Once you're seated the waitress comes and takes your order. The menu is small but has some yummy looking stuff on it. We both ordered appetizers. I had the nachos and my BFF had the baked potato chips along with 2 diet cokes and the small popcorn that comes with the price of your ticket. They bring your check out right away since they don't bother you at all during the movie. We paid $37 for 2 drinks and 2 appetizers so it is a little pricey but the food was good. After they drop off all your stuff they leave you alone, which is nice so it isn't bothersome.
Overall this is a nice theater to come to for either really long movies or once in a while. It's a little expensive and the oddly stained pillow freaked me out which is why I gave it a solid A-ok rating. Other than that I have no other complaints about this nicely decorated, comfy theater.
Totally awesome! We went for a date night and saw This is 40. It was our first time so we went all out and got the fancy seats that recline and a server takes care of you the first 20 minutes of the show.
We started out in the bar and got some drinks while we waited for our theater to open up. Once we sat down we were handed a menu and the server could tell we were new so she explained everything like how the seats work to how long she will be serving us.
We ate the loaded potato fries and beer battered chicken. Both were awesome. Next time we see a movie we will be coming here!
Word of advise, buy your tickets on line. You get to pick your seats and this also makes sure you have a spot. The premium seats have limited availability!! Oh and sign up for their club membership. Its free and knocks off money per ticket and they send you a free ticket for your birthday!!
After going to the movies here, it's hard for me to go back to a standard cinema! Â With the prices skyrocketing at other places, paying a few extra bucks here is well worth it. Â Whenever possible, we try to get the premium plus seating with the complimentary bag of popcorn, but even their standard seating is great.
I love being able to reserve our seats ahead of time so that we don't have to get there early to find a good seat. Â No matter where we sit it's always comfortable and spacious.
It's also a great location in the Arboretum with a wide selection of restaurants to pick from to round out the evening.
Awesome ambiance, drinks were good, place is well set up and the staff were super friendly. Great customer service!
Had the Chicken Kabobs. One problem one of them was under cooked so I had to spit it out, I mean it was rare rubbery. Last thing i want is food poising.
Besides that, the place rocks I will be back and make sure to order something else.
Saw Django, great movie, love the seats and the screen.
Look forward to going back very soon and being more particular about the food. I still need to tell them  about what happened, but the movie and theater was so good I didnt even bother.
I will bring it up next time I go back.
Dear Manager, please take a road trip to iPic Theater in Redmond, WA to see how it's done. Â My husband and I love iPic in Redmond. Â When we flew home to Chicago for the holidays, we couldn't wait to introduce my mom to this experience. Â Forget it-she'll never go back. Â We received zero service - zero. Â We paid for premium plus seats, arrived before the theater doors opened, took our seats - yet through 20 full minutes of previews, nobody ever came to take our order. Â After the movie started and everyone around me already had food and drink, I had to walk out into the lobby to find someone to take my order!
Review Source:Updates, updates, updates!
The marketing manager contacted me again and provided us with a couple tickets so we could give them another chance.  Very glad he did!  We went on a Wednesday this time and it was so much better.  Quiet, comfortable, and calming!  Our waitress  in the theater was super friendly, and our bartender took very good care of us.  I never realized this before, but they have an espresso machine behind the bar and can make lattes and such.  Very nice!  It was broken that night but the bartender was really apologetic and offered us free drip coffee and soda to make up for it.  Wonderful service!  We enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed after the movie was over, kept warm in front of the fireplace, played some pool, and had a few more drinks.  Overall, a very good evening!
This is like the Midwest Cinepolis! LOVE IT!
I visited the Glendale (MKE) location awhile back and it sucked major butt, so I was hesitant about coming here. But after researching and reviewing, I thought I would give it a try.
Before you even get to the theater, there are self-serve wine bars that allow you to sample wines or actually fill up a full glass (for a price of course).
Then in the theater, (premium plus of course!) you get served beverage and food before the movie begins. You sit in these reclining suede seats with pillows/blankets. Tak about top notch! The food was okay...but it's theater food so I wasn't expecting too much, although I did like the truffle fries and the portobello sliders were pretty good. And alcohol?!? Yes please! All while enjoying a movie with good picture and sound system.
All in all a place to go for dates or if you just wanna splurge on a night out to the movies. Only complaint is, why do you have to be so far out! In the middle of nowhere! Suburbia...seriously?!? If you're an iPic exec reading, PLEASE upgrade the one in MKE! No service/reclining seats suck!
TIP: sign up for membership. It's free and you save money on tickets immediately! I think we saved $7/person for our movie.
New Management can mess up a good concept!
I had the opportunity  to visit iPic Theater some time ago when they were originally know as Gold Class Cinema.  The original concept was perfect:
- Â Large leather seats spread throughout the theater
- Â Superior service available through out the movie at the push of a button
- Â Adult base atmosphere
- Â Clean environment
Once the company was sold to iPic, the new owners come up with the dumb idea to add "regular" theater seats to the property and dispensing with the large reclining concept throughout as well as dispensing with the other amenities (stated above) that drove us there in the first place.
Now you compete with seeing the screen as the premium seats are in the back of the theatre and the regular seats (which should have never been placed) have prime locations...and they are ALWAYS empty. Â Service takes your order, asks you to pay, delivers your food before the movie starts and NEVER comes back. Â We sat through a 2 1/2 hour movie with left overs on our plate. Â
I will say they added to the lobby area with billiards and a nice bar atmosphere but I use to visit this location twice a month and not it is twice a year.
New management really messed this place up...
For new patrons, they may like the concept...I find it a poor management move!
I was ready to hate just because of the name.
iPIC??????
Or that it seemed "gimmicky."
Well, the gimmicks worked, for me atleast.
At first, it was kind of confusing. My boyfriend and I were awkwardly walking around after buying tickets figuring out where to order. If you picked the regular ticket, you buy food in the dining area and take it inside to your seats. You can order food at the "Express" area where you line up cafeteria style, or order from the bigger menu which takes longer while you sit at one of the tables or the bar. If you ordered the premium ticket, you can go straight inside to your theater seats and order food from there.
The seats were comfortable and luxe (did I really just use that word?) unlike those cheapo office seats at Hollywood Boulevard. There was an actual DJ in the bar, which was pretty excessive (but appreciated). The lounge area was decorated like it belonged in one of those new, hip casinos in Vegas.
The food was expensive, but tasted decent (I -was- really hungry though).
My boyfriend and I viewed a late night showing and were the last customers left at 1:30 in the morning. The attendant who had to wait for us was not grouchy at all and gave us a sleepy smile as we walked to the exit.
Do not be intimidated by its "trendy" appearance, a memorable movie night awaits!
I loved this theater! I don't want to go anywhere else now. You pay a few more bucks to get a nice, comfortable seat and clean, cool atmosphere. Totally worth it. The only reason I'm taking a star away is because one of the workers was rude to us and acted like we shouldn't be there....Pretty odd. But overall, we will def be going back. Hopefully we won't run into her.
Review Source:WOW!!! Just WOW!!! The only problem that I have writing this review is that more people will find out about this place and it will get too crowded. I've slowly been losing my love of going to the movies because of loud teenagers, crappy food options and terrible service. My friend bought me a gift card to iPic and I will now never go to another theater. When you first walk in, it looks like a very upscale bar and restaurant with large fireplaces and comfy couches all over. We enjoyed just sitting in one of the large lounge areas ordering martini's and watching the Olympics on one of their large flat screen TVs while we waited for our movie to start. We even played a few games of free pool on one of their pool tables.
When the movie was about to begin, we were escorted to our seats. They were these incredible huge lounge chairs with a pillow and blanket. It felt like you were watching a movie at home. Then the waiter came and we ordered some more drinks and some deserts since we had stopped for dinner before. So here I am watching The Dark Knight in full recline with a pillow and blanket eating chocolate cake and drinking a cappuccino. They also supplied popcorn and my SnoCaps came in a Martini glass instead of a candy box.
The parking is great with a ton of great restaurants all surrounding the theater. We parked and walked to Coopers Hawk for dinner and then walked right into the theater. There are about 6 restaurants all within a 1-2 minute walk from the theater ranging from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse to a pizza pub.
The one tip that I will tell everybody is to sign up online for a free membership to get discounted tickets. Also, you can order and pick your seats online up to a week before you go. This way there is no rush to get there early to pick the best seats.
This place really made me fall in love with going to the movies again.
Love this place! Just saw the new batman movie here last night & I was comfortable during the entire movie! My fiance is 6'5" tall, and sometimes he has a hard time fiting into other movie theater chairs. with such long legs his knees are always up against the seats in front of us. In both premium & premium plus, the chairs eliminate that problem- plenty of leg space!
It's totally worth spending the extra few bucks for premium seating, you get a pillow, blanket & popcorn! The fountain drinks are a little pricey.. $4.50 for a pop!.. yikes. But the cheesecake made up for it- raspberry &white chocolate, YUM!
What? I get an oversized recline, a pillow, a blanket, food and alcohol during my movie? All for only $4 more a seat than a regular uncomfortable movie theater? Yea, this is pretty much the only theater I go to if I can help it.
There is a bar area you can sit in prior to your movie to hang out and grab a few drinks, and then when you sit down in the theater waiters take your drink/food order during the previews. You used to be able to order all throughout the movie but unfortunately after iPic bought Gold Class and took over they limited it to the previews. Â You can still get up and go to the bar during the movie if you want a drink, but obviously you will miss part of your movie. I definitely do miss the option to simply press the button and order when it was still Gold Class.
Their food is pretty good (try the tuna wontons!), but it is definitely pricy for what it is. Â Same for drinks. 2/3 of the time the waiter in the theater fails to bring something I ordered, or charges me for something I didn't order, so check your bill carefully.
This is a really nice place to see a movie though. Â We just saw Dark Knight last night and the three hours went by like nothing! Though that was partially because I enjoyed the movie, I know if I was in a regular theater I would have been squirming in the seat!
When I first heard that we were going to see The Dark Knight Rises at iPic Theaters in Barrington, I thought to myself "it must be some dump because Barrington already has an awesome AMC Theater." Â Boy, was I right! Â I mean wrong!!! Boy, was I WRONG!
The Arboretum of South Barrington has awesome restaurants, cool shops, and easily the best movie theater I have ever been to. Â For about the same price as regular AMC theaters, you get a huge leather chair to sink into while watching a movie on a crystal clear screen.
I think there was waiter service too, but we sat in the section where you have to get your own food/drink. Â The people sitting next to us got up about 6 times to get more martinis, but other than that, it was awesome. Â If only The Dark Knight Rises lived up to the hype...
I'm a big movie goer so I do enjoy going to the movie theaters quite frequently to see the newest releases. I was given a gift card to IPic for Christmas so I decided the best way to use it was for Dark Knight Rises.
Before I start my review, I would just like to point out that you should sign up as a member on their website. Tickets are cheaper which is why I'm actually not quite sure anyone would not sign up but there are two types of seating. Premium and Premium Plus. The descriptions are listed on the IPic website but basically premium plus has the upgraded reclining chair with a blanket, pillow, popcorn, and 20 minute waiter service included in the price. It's about 13 dollars for premium (if you sign up to be a member so do that!) and premium plus is 18.50. (Also note, there is limited seating for premium plus so they may get booked out first for bigger movies that everyone want to see)
As far as ordering tickets goes, if you order online, you get to choose where you would like to sit which is a great feature in my opinion. Â I'm sure you have the same option of choosing if you ordered at the theater itself. The theater is located in the middle of The Arboretum in South Barrington which is saying it's in a great shopping area with a lot of stores/restaurants around it.. When my girlfriend and I entered the building, we went through a smooth process of getting our tickets. There was still about 30 minutes before the movie started so the theater wasn't ready yet (usually done 15 minutes before) so we just walked around admiring the place.
Someone mentioned before that the interior décor reminded them of a high-end restaurant and a high-end hotel lobby which is how I would describe it. There are a lot of couches to lounge around and relax before seeing a movie. I did not get a mixed drink or anything but the bar did look impressive to me. There is a section with wine dispensers, which another reviewer mentions and I won't go too deep in since I did not use it but I had never seen anything like it before but it was definitely fascinating. There are also two pool tables, a bunch of TVs placed everywhere (even inside the counter top tables), and a place to order food which makes this theater more like  trendy hang out spot just to grab a drink, catch a game, or eat some food.
There are two different entrances between premium and premium plus seating in the back (I think). I got premium plus seating because I figured I might as well live it up if I am going to experience what higher standards of theater viewing are all about. I sat in premium plus seating in the back so there was a lot of room to move around which is a plus. I wasn't quite sure if the blanket and pillow were clean which I am sure they are but a more hygienic person would probably hate it. The theater is dark so it's hard to read the menu. This may be a solo incident but for some reason my waiter just kept overlooking us so I had to flag down one of the waitresses to finally get an order in which is something I didn't like too much.
I ordered the Crispy Calamari Steak and Braised Short Rib flatbread while my girlfriend got the Turkey Burger Trio with a side of sweet potato fries. Overall I thought the food was pretty good. The only flaw I saw was that the table on the side of the chair is kind of small so after fitting any drinks you may have and popcorn, the table can only really fit one more dish. In that case, I had to hold my dish on my lap since there wasn't enough room. Â Also, you have to pay your bill during the movie which can get a little annoying because the movie is going on and you can't really see the bill. Â
Anyways this review is getting kind of long so to speed it up, I thought the recliner seat was nice and it was cool to kick your legs up and relax during the movie but for the most part, you aren't going to be lying there the whole time because it gets uncomfortable to watch and eat. The popcorn was a bit stale but it was a nice touch. Personally I though 18.50 was a bit steep for the premium plus seating but again I'm pretty cheap so others may disagree. I'd gladly pay 13 dollars for the regular premium seating and bring my food into the theater but again that's just a personal preference. I certainly think anyone should experience IPic movie viewing at least once because it's truly a different experience and it certainly beats those who hate the "normal" movie experience.
This place was formerly "Gold Class Cinemas" and everything I said about that place pretty much applies to the new iPic Theater incarnation. Â The service & menu are slightly different but still a great time and the quality of the food is FANTASTIC. Â Yes the food is pricey but it's food you would get at a nice trendy restaurant, not the crap a regular theater would serve. Â
AND the price of tickets has been lowered compared to when it was "Gold Class Cinemas". Â If you sign up as a member* on their website you'll be able to buy advance tickets to popular upcoming movies along with some freebies throughout the year. Â $13 for a standard comfy seat with a small table...when the AMC down the road is charging $10 for their regular seat & sticky floors - I'll stick to iPic! Â Plus iPic doesn't charge extra for 3D movies either like other theaters do. Â You can pay about $5 to upgrade to a premium seat which gets you an even bigger, plusher recliner seat, bigger table, a cubby for your coat, purse, etc., pillow, blanket, free bag of popcorn and food & beverage service at your seat. Â Sweet!
This place spoiled me rotten to the point that I don't think I can go back to a standard movie theater again. Â Getting their early is the best as you can grab a drink, do a wine tasting, and/or shoot some pool. Â
The decor is very modern, and some of the bar tables have televisions built into the table. Â
I would highly recommend this location for a date as it offers the right ambiance for a romantic evening and a movie. Â
*Tip* Splurge on the recliners! Â Popcorn, pillow, blanket, recliner, and wait service to get a refill on the drinks!
I have been to this iPic three times all together and have enjoyed my experience every time. Â Last night my wife and I chose to have dinner and a movie for our anniversary at iPic instead of splitting between a restaurant and movie theater. Â This is my second time dining while enjoying a movie and I have not been disappointed in any of my choices. Â The food is delicious in everything I have tried so far. Â
I like paying the little extra for the upgraded seats so I can have the reclining seats with blanket, pillow, and waiter service for the first twenty minutes of the movie. Â I do wish the waiter service lasted longer throughout the movie though. And when it is all said and done, you spend about the same as you would if you went to a restaurant, ate dinner, then went to a movie theater, bought popcorn (which is complimentary in the upgraded seats by the way), and drinks. Â Oh, and they have a full bar that will keep you plenty occupied.
I really dont think I can go to another movie theatre after this one.
I paid extra for the VIP seats which was awesome. Reclineing chairs, a blanket and pillow and for the first 20 mins food service. We went on a monday at about 12 and we were the only people in our movie! Score! We started off with some wine followed that withe the tri of dips, followed by mini burgers and sweet potato fries. The food was actually good! My only gripe is the waiter wanted us to pay the bill right after service...which was about 45 mins into the movie...um cant it wait? or take the card before the movie...
also outside the theatre is a bar/lounge/pool tables. So you can hang out before or after the movie. This is a MUST!
Basically it's a cool, comfortable, convenient and tasty new way to do dinner and a movie, for the same price as the way you used to do it. If you're an adult, once you go here you'll likely be hooked.
Big comfy chairs, delicious food, alcohol -- and because they have created an adult environment everyone seems to behave like one. We ordered sweet potato fries and a mini hamburger trio and split - with a cocktail and other drinks our food bill was about $40. Not bad at all.
I'm not a social person, but I love the social experience of going to a movie theater. What I don't like are the noisy patrons who interrupt the movie, the uncomfortable seats and poor screen views. I was very happy with the staff and the service -- it was the most relaxing and romantic movie experience we've had out since, well, ever. After the movie we found a comfy couch and finished our drinks and just chatted.
I'll be taking my wife here more often. And when we have to go see a kids movie, we'll take them to any other theater. This one is for us.
I was introduced to iPic while visiting a friend in Chicago. Â Although it's a very nice theater and dinner menu, it's just not what I am used to with dinner and a movie. Â I am from Kansas City, the home of AMC, and would much rather have the AMC experience again. Â I don't know if they offer their "Fork and Screen" or "Cinema Suites" at Chicago AMC theaters but if they do, go there instead. Â I'll cross compare for you...
They both allow you to pick two seating tiers. Â iPic is in one room. Â AMC is seperated by theater. Â The lower tier at iPic is also lined up so if you have to pee or get out for any reason, it's a HUGE pain. Â AMC has space to move and several rows up the theater.
About the same menu for both.. just depends on what you are looking for. Â Full bars are offered at both with lounges.
iPic makes you order the food in the lounge and carry it into your seat for the lower tier pricing. Â The plates are also extremely heavy on their own and become even worse with food, a purse, your tickets and drinks. Â AMC has waiters in the theater regardless of the seating choice. Â They also come clear your plates instead of them sitting in front of you for the whole movie and refill your drinks. Â iPic doesn't clear or refill.
iPic seats are very comfortable as are AMC's. Â AMC lower tier are more like regular theater seats but leather and the upper tier are huge and comfortable, much like iPic.
iPic swing tray for the food is a little too low. Â I am 6' tall and it was sloppy to get to my food and brushed my leg when it moved. Â AMC has more of a bar style that you lean forward comfortably.
Overall... I obviously prefer AMC (and they are WAY cheaper for their ticket price) but iPic isn't bad if that is all you have in your area.
