Burger was very good... I had the Hickory Burger, which was delicious. Perfectly cooked with a nice crunchy caramelized crust on the outside which made the burger. Sweet potato fries were good and the regular fries were real homemade fries, just the way we like them. Not too shabby for a hometown burger place, this place had no complaints from us. Service was very attentive too!, We like to golf and ski in this area, we will be back.

Both the food and service were awful!

The food is good and standard for an Irish Pub.  What stands out is the service.  The servers are extremely passionate about what they do and really care about your experience.

Very casual/ relaxed bar...Carhartts are comfortable here. Great Guinness beef stew and friendly wait staff.

Been there a 1/2 dozen times over the past couple of years. We go to the near by Crystal Springs resort. We usually have other friends with us, & the Irish Cottage always seems to be able to cater to larger groups. It is your standard Irish pub. They are a dime a dozen in and around the city. For what it is, it is done well. Good atmosphere, lots of tv's,  good beer selection & decent pub grub! If its fine dining you're looking for, look elsewhere. If it's fair food, at a fair price, the cottage is the place.

Went there today as we were passing by and I remembered been here in the past-Sat down in the rear restaurant and gave drink orders to waitress-Had a wait while she took care of another table that was seated after us-We were given drinks and waited for a bread tray but only bread plates and no bread-Very confusing-The food came after waiting some time and 2 people in out party was very disappointed with their food-The BBQ sandwich was sauced with what looked like ketchup and the Prime Rib was on the chewy side-The only meal that was acceptable was the Shephards Pie -The dessert menu was a joke at 6.99 for a piece of frozen cake.We declined dessert to take our chances on the way home to find something better.I don't think we will be back as I don't think there is anything special about the Irish Cottage Inn

I will never go back. We went as a party of five and our bill was completely wrong. I figured it was a mistake. Our same party of five returned one week later and the same errors from a different waitress were reflected on the bill. We went on a night where they had beer specials. Seems they like to charge regular price rather than the advertised price if your not looking. We brought this to the attention of the manager and his response was that he will discount us a cup of coffee, that someone in our party had. Don't go to this place unless your are prepared to go over your bill with a fine toothed comb. Plus their food is no different than any other Irish pub that serves the same type of food.  I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I met my wife here almost 3 years ago so this place is special to the both of us.  We decided to go there tonight but what a mistake.  As an appetizer we ordered an Irish sausage wrapped in a pastry puff and it was inedible, it had a bitter taste that no amount of beer could take away.  When we told the waitress that there was something wrong with it and she should let the cook know, she took it back and came back out and told us the cook said it must have been the mustard.  I don't think it was the mustard seeing how I took a piece with none on it.  My wife had the prime rib for dinner, which she said was not hot, and I had the corned beef reuben.  What a bad choice on my part.  The corned beef was overcooked and just did not taste right and when we told the waitress that I was not happy with my meal, she said that it was hard to believe because everyone that has the corned beef loves it.  I have had corned beef at real Irish restaurants in NYC and this is by far the worst I have ever had.  To add insult to injury, our waitress was not attentive and kept us waiting for our bill and to take payment.  The only way we will come back here is if I see a giant sign saying "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND NEW KITCHEN STAFF".

If you like Beer and fried bar food you would like it.
The more beer the better it gets.
    So,drink up ,than eat.
I would drink at least four beers.
    Than order and who cares?
    and let her drive home.

This place is okay but nothing special.  I had a burger the last time i was there and it was tasteless. In the past I had the beef stew and it was okay.

The restaurant itself is nice with a great atmosphere and plenty of beer to help you forget about the mediocre food.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area.  Every time I go there I am not disappointed.  The food is good, and the staff is always accommodating and friendly.  I love the atmosphere (except when there is a game...then it gets awfully loud) but otherwise the place is nice and the food is good.  I always recommend this place to friends.

Irish Cottage is more bar than it is a restaurant, but having said that, the food is usually pretty decent. 5 for being the only form of decent nightlife in Sussex County and a 3 for the grub. :)

My review is for the restaurant not the bar portion of this business. We have given this restaurant several tries as you want it to be good because of the authentic look and feel of the building. The food is mediocre at best and very expensive compared to the quality. I would put the food on par with decent decent diner food at twice the price. Wish it wasn't true but it is.

I love that I can get some great Irish themed food here.  The atmosphere is awesome, there are plenty of drinks to be had, and the people are friendly. My boyfriend and I ordered the Sheppard's Pie and it probably changed my life.

If you are from around the area you pretty much know this is the closest (and only) place to go for some nightlife. This meaning, that it is probably guaranteed that you will see someone you know there. From what I can remember, the food is good. The atmosphere is more of a sports bar..

Great beer selection.  Food is good and also there is a lot to chose from.  There is little competition in Franklin so this place is a very safe bet.  When leaving if you follow the road you will come to a traffic light.  This will make your life easier getting on 23 North.

So, a  friend of ours told us to try this place out. The minute I walked in I thought it was a cozy and friendly place right away. The menu was sooo awesome! I love that they had so many different choices than other restaurants. We started with a delicious creamy basalmic dressing with romaine, omg very good.  Upon our friends suggestion we decided to go with the Fried Fish dinner. YUMMMMMMMO the fish melted in my mouth! The portion was huge. The waitress we had was over the top friendly and I was so impressed. We of course were too full for dessert.  The waitress mentioned Carrot cake and apple pie with caramel topping, we officially were pigs and took it home! I can't wait to go back and back and back. LOL

18 draft beers including Dogfish head and Magic Hat. The wait staff are great, the menu is huge and the space is big enough that if you want to be on your own or around people either way you are set.

    Great food and atmosphere.

The irish menu is top notch and the cottage seems to be the place to be especially in the winter months when the surrounding ski resorts empty out. We've been going here a long time and plan to cotinue.

also Kev O is the raddest bartender in the area

We found this place after a snowshoe hike at high point state park. we stopped on our way home for dinner and were pleasantly surprised at the restaurant's atmosphere and quality of food. their winter specialty drinks were really good. i had the rum apple cider drink to warm me up! Their salad with fried goat cheese was fantastic, and the portions were huge, but i wasn't too impressed with the beef stew. it was ok, just average. their fish and chips were really good. overall, this place is a very cozy irish restaurant with average to good food.
