I always get their terriyaki chicken sandwich.  I LOVE this sandwich on a wheat bun.  Their fries are awesome....crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.  And they have their own seasoned salt you can put on it.  Also, the fries are unlimited!!

The drinks are good, too.  I've been here quite a few times over the years and only had one bad experience (it happens) and the manager made up for it by comping our appetizer (the problem was that it never came out when we got our meal, then the waitress brought it out as we were eating our meal).

As I said, only one "problem" I had, if you want to call it that. My husband LOVES their burgers too....and he's a picky burger eater.  :)

    Will come back.

Warning - The last four times I ate here I got massive, painful indigestion and worse (I will spare you the gross details.) Although I love the people and the food, I kept going back because (a) I forgot, not being there frequently, and (b) when I remembered, I thought maybe I was coming down with something. But yesterday I talked to another local who had had a similar experience: She was sick and in pain for two days after eating here.

This place needs to have a good going over by the Board of Health as this has been going on for six months or so.

I'm sorry to have to report this, as I like the place overall, but thought people should know.

I've been coming to Islands Restaurant for almost 25 years now. My first taste was in Marina Del Rey. Oh how excited I was when they finally built the Roseville location!
They have the world's best onion rings! I find myself craving them and can't wait to get my fix. I also love their China Coast Asian Chicken Salad! Mmmm!!!

If you like bad service, frozen burger patties with no flavor, extremely salty salads, and over priced food this is the place for you. I would not recommend going here.
When I went here with my boyfriend, it was not busy there were only three other tables in out area with people in them. We got seated right away, and got our order taken in a timely fashion. But after that everything was downhill.

We ordered chips and salsa, the chips had obviously been sitting for a long time they were not fresh, and the salsa (if you can even call it that) tasted like tomato sauce. I ordered a Greek salad, which was so salty I could barely eat it. I understand that the olives in the salad make it salty, but the dressing should contain little to no salt to compensate for the olives saltiness. Also, the plate my salad came on was hot, which made my salad warm, gross.

My boyfriend ordered a hamburger with french fries. The burger was obviously a frozen patty that had no flavor to it. The fries were stone cold when they arrived to our table, which means that his food has been sitting for a while. I mean how hard is it to make fresh fries to put with an order? Not at all.

The meal was just not good. I do not understand how restaurants like this are packed every weekend.  There was one plus to this meal. I did speak to our waiter (who was very kind), and he spoke to his manager and took the salad off our bill. But still, don't bother going here.

I used to come here regularly but then the recession hit and and I hadn't been here for well over a year.  We decided  to come here as a change of pace as we normally go to Red Robin if we want a burger.   Back in the day the burgers and fries were priced separately and I would call ahead and order take out and get fires that came for instructions on what to do with left overs as they gave a ton of them.  Now the fires come with  the meal but they charge $11 for the burger we got and $2.75 for the soda. For Two people that came to $28 with tax which is a little pricy for lunch.
We both are vegetarians and you can substitute a veggie or turkey burger for any burger on the menu.  We both got the Hula which is mushroom, lettuce and tomato and cheese on white or wheat bun.
What a disappointment, as I use to love the food here.  The bun was too large for the burger, there were not that many mushrooms or lettuce.  The never ending fries were not a we were never asked if we wanted more. The fries tasted a lot like "in-and-Out" fires but were thicker.  They just seem a bit more dried out that was plus I must have gotten the end of the fry basket because most of my fries were an inch long and cold.  They did refill the drinks quickly and the service was friendly.  Maybe it was just the chef had an off day?
The price and the OK, not great food had me longing for Red Robin where the service is always fast and friendly and the mushrooms overflowing.  I don't think we will go back.

Can't believe it took me this long to write a review! I've been going here for a while now, and this is by far the best place to get a burger and fries if you're in the area and want to sit down and relax.

My favorite is the Kilauea, if you like things a little spicy. Not usually a fan of onions, but the Island Reds they top the burger with are so good, you could eat them alone. Jalapenos are cooked into the burger patty, which is DELICIOUS. Sauce is perfect. Roll your sleeves, take jewelry off, and don't bother with napkins until you're done eating, things can get extremely messy. But only in the best way.

The all-you-can-eat fries are just as good as the burger. We've tried the onion rings and they are very tasty as well. Bottom line, just go eat here. Might be the best burger you've tried.

The best teriyaki burgers around, and they now include fries with the burgers. They have a very reasonable Happy Hr too.

We had lunch there today and our server (Karl J) seemed to be annoyed each time we asked for service.  He also rang up our final bill incorrectly. (Boooo!) Poor service does not remind me of visitng the Hawaiian Islands.  More like being sentenced to Alcatraz Island because I could not wait to leave and vowed never to return.

Got minimal help-- We were at the bar. We were never acknowledged by ANYONE. We had to ask someone to grab us drinks (which took forever.) We ended up leaving and going somewhere else for dinner.

The one star up above is for the service at this particular Islands. Pretty bad service. Where do I start...took forever to take our order, took forever to get our food, and messed up our order. Don't get me wrong, I love Islands. Would frequently eat at Islands in So Cal,. Bottom line: This service at this Islands needs a makeover.

I have fond memories of going to Islands in Westwood back when I was an undergrad at UCLA, having a burger and fries and bottomless glass of lemonade to cure a hangover.

Flash forward to me being a semi-respectible adult with children, and Islands still delivers.  I only get one thing: the Maui burger on wheat.  The burger is always cooked perfectly and is served with guacamole and Islands Fries on the side.  The North Shore tacos are also a good go-to option, that my wife usually gets.  The kids love the burgers, too.

We stop here on our way back and forth to Lake Tahoe.  The service is fast and friendly, so we're able to get in and out of here in about 30-40 minutes

Islands is a classic burger chain. Their burgers are large, but not inappropriately large. I like how now they actually include fries with the burger. I don't know what took them so long.

Anyway, it's a decent location not too far from the freeway nor the Galleria.

One of the great things about Islands is their consistency. Every time I come here, the experience is always the same - great! The service is always friendly and efficient.

My usual is the Toucan with a wheat bun. The quality is great and the value for the money is outstanding.

    You can't go wrong here!

Awesome happy hour. Sliders are delish as are the margaritas (and large).
The bartender was charming and efficient. We ordered two margaritas before the 7pm happy hour cut off time, but the gem didn't even make our 2nd drink until after we finished the first. Much appreciated! The bar food was served super quick and tasty for the cost!

Definite recommend...especially if you're headed to a cheap Tuesday night movie :)

    The Pros-

The burger I had tasted pretty decent and I bet would have tasted way better if it was served warmer.

the place has a pretty quiet atmosphere, which is enjoyable when you don't want to hear a lot of chatter and noise other than whats at your own table.

    the cons-

The weather report said it was going to be warm so they had a ton of fans and the AC blasted really high. It was freezing inside. Which more than likely part of the reason our food cooled down so fast.

After I ate the burger I felt pretty queasy for the rest of the day. It didn't really agree with my  system, I suppose, though I have a pretty resilient digestive.

Ultimately this place really isn't 10$ burger worthy. 6$ Burger maybe but definitely not 10$ burger. You'll have a better burger at The Habit or In-N-Out.

I went here for the first time years ago, and the only thing I remember is disappointment. The burgers were expensive and were a la carte so the bill was ridiculous IMO.
This time the burgers were yummy and came with endless fries. Upgrade. I had a Maverick burger with BBQ sauce, fried red onion straws, lettuce, tomato, pickle. I like the pickles- thin but crunchy. If I had thought ahead I would have ordered mega extra pickles.
I am not a fan of the fries, however. My kids thought the extra crispy fries were great. To me, the fries are so overcooked, they no longer resemble potatoes, so no thank you.

I really liked this place food was good I had the fish tacos and endless Fries. I'm not too picky but nothing I had I didn't like. I will say the fries where really hard though I think they cooked longer than normal. My mom loves the tortilla soup though it's really popular.

The atmosphere was great too on the TV's they were showing surfing and snowboarding programs.

    Good Job Islands!

Ummmm, you had me at, "All you can eat fries!"

This place is pretty damn good.  They have a good selection of burgers and their bacon is really good.  I went with my Mom and she got a BLT.  No BS, I almost traded her my burger for her sandwich.  There was so much bacon on that thing I literally felt giddy.

I will be back for sure but forget the burger, I am going BLT baby!!!!!  Yeah, the place is clean and the servers friendly but don't get me side tracked cus I am day dreaming of that delicious bacon again.

    GO to this place!

One of the best burgers I've ever had! The patty was perfectly cooked, which left a bit of pink in the middle and the components that made it the Kilauea were equally delicious. Crispy onion string and roasted jalapenos. Can I tell you about their endless fries? Crazy good. I was too busy schkoffing down the fries that I almost forgot about the huge burger. If I were to describe them I would say they were like in-n-out fries except bigger. Yes, I asked for more fries.

Don't come here if you're worried about calories. Come here if you want to enjoy a good burger with a little Aloha spirit so leave your rabbit-like diet at the door.

PROS: decent service, well decorated, cool surf videos playing on the flat screens, strong drinks

CONS: burger was WAY too greasy, fries were WAY too salty, nothing on the menu is under 1200 calories other than the small "healthy" section including appetizers.

OVERALL: as i mentioned in the above statements, there were few good things to say about this place and the few that were, had really nothing to do with the food. the food was extremely greasy; so much in fact that i couldn't finish my burger due to the bun being soggy with grease at the end. definitely do not go here for anything other than happy hour.

Thought I'd check out Islands since it was right by my hotel. I ordered a veggie kaluea burger. It was delish. Couldn't eat it all so I took half back to my hotel. Ususally when I go to Islands my burger bun is dripping with butter. This time everything was perfect!

Great waitstaff. I would definitely go back when I find myself in Roseville!

Definitely DON'T GO as a large group!

Inside, there's only two tables that can seat 4 or more. You could probably fit 6 comfortably but our group of 10 was pushing it. Later on at that night, they put another group of 10 comfortably out on their patio by rearranging tables. Why didn't they put us their in the first place? Discrimination? (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/r5CqaUJBqheW1WFLT6OQ3w?select=vy4gkuTcyuz6H4HspF_YcQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)

All the island kitsch from the surfing videos, wooden parrots, etc made me feel like I was in a Hawaiian Applebees on crack. So forced and so chain-y.

The food is equally cheesy and bad. The most exotic item on their menu, the Hawaiian burger ($11), came with pineapple and teriyaki sauce that you could hardly taste since it comes with a metric ton of fresh onions which overpower EVERYTHING. In-n-out has a better burger patty than this one. The fries were soggy and burnt. My wife had the fish tacos ($12), more like the fish stick tacos that I would make as a broke college student. The fresh onions from my burger overpowered her dish as well! Not good at all.  (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/r5CqaUJBqheW1WFLT6OQ3w?select=bMgz46-XLevXYJ7U2EJZZA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>

You're soo better off going to In-n-Out or Red Robin for a burger. I couldn't believe how crowded this place got?

    2 star place if you're a group of 4,
    1 star if you're a group more than 4.

    Islands Burgers & Drinks,  Roseville

This is the perfect spot for families. Decor is island theme, music it's a fun mix and there is cool surfing videos to watch throughout.

    Tuesday Night kids eat free!!!
Buy 1 get 2 FREE! (2 kids meals with the purchase of 1 adult)

I like the Big Wave burger and I substitute beef for a turkey patty to save 400-500 calories 8.95 for my burger, 2 kids meals 5.09 ea - savings of $10.18!!!

One more time... I received 19.13 in food and service for 3 people and only paid 8.95!!! It gets better... Bottomless fries too!!! (See my pic for a copy of my receipt)

Server Will H. was great, very attentive and polite.

You will have to patient because the place is busy and crawling with families. If you have a problem with a little wait for a table and a little wait for your food, feel free to contact me and I will personally give you a swift kick in the rear end!!! It is completely understandable considering that they are giving away the farm on Tuesday nights.

Note: These servers are working their tail off. DO NOT forget to TIP them on the full amount, not the discounted amount.

For the adults, there is a full bar too..

    Yay! I'm a fan.

Stopping at Islands on the way to Reno makes me a very happy camper. Islands is a chain in southern California, and I was super excited to see that they had this Roseville location and Folsom. It's not too close to me, but hey, at least it's in NorCal. This place brings me back to my college days for sure.

Islands is decorated in a Hawaiian theme and has burgers similar to Red Robin. My favorite is the Kilauea: spicy peppercorn burger with onion strings and peperjack cheese. The fries are crispy and come with the burgers (a new addition and was ala cart before) and can be topped with a secret salt. Prices are reasonable and service is good.

Been a good fan of Island's and hadn't really had it for a very long time. (Doesn't help when you don't live very close to one.. and the closest is over an hour drive away)

Coupled with a friend of mine who never ate at one before, we chose to come here since it was literally a walk across the parking lot from the Fairfield Inn we were staying at.

We both had the tortilla soup and she also had a China Coast salad where I had the Macaw (a chicken sandwich with guacamole, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, swiss, and mayo).

All-in-all it was a great dining experience with an attentive and friendly waitress as well as delicious food.

My husband is a huge fan, but I am just A-OK. I still prefer to get my burgers at In & Out or even Red Robin's.

This time around, I ordered a turkey bleunami on a white roll. I wasn't really impressed with the quality of the ingredients. First, they used WAY too much mayo (check out my pic). When I cut into my burger, all I saw was white sauce dripping everywhere. The turkey burgers didn't hold their shape well. As a result, our sandwiches fell apart very easily. It's rare that I pick and pull my sandwich. I left a pretty good amount of bread and drenched veggies on my plate. I wasn't really impressed.

Also, I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken fingers my son had. I don't think he was either becuase he didn't even finish his plate. I can really pinpoint what I don't like. It could be that it lacked a crispy crunch that most chicken tenders have or that it tasted like whatever other foods they put in their deep fryer. Not that great.

I will say that I LOVED their French fries. Islands provides a great garlic salt seasoning that makes the fries extra yummy. My husband and I also enjoyed their buffalo wings. They were crispy wings that stayed crisp underneath all the buffalo sauce. YAY for the super nice waitress that remembered to bring us ranch instead of blue cheese dressing.

I am diametrically opposed to giving many "chain restaurants" anything above a 2-3 star rating.  Why you ask???  Well, what an astute question.  i don't because most chain's are not very spectacular, in fact, they are usually quite bland and lacking in culinary creativity while mired in the absence of ambiance.

    ^^^  probably an unnecessary intro.

    :)

Interesting "island-like" atmosphere with fake bamboo/tiki hut motiff.  Had a Cobb salad one day, the Kilauea burger another day (joint is right next to the Marriott where we were staying - repeat biz explanation).   Food was real good, the staff very attentive.

    Good grub all around!

Time to downgrade this place.  Not sure if service or kitchen is to blame.   Had a very upbeat and lively server (the tude-dude) who said all the right things etc etc but just couldn't deliver the goods he was so good at hyping.

We asked him to 'skip the initial cold fries and just bring the hot ones".  "Oh sure thing" he said understandably.   Also, I ordered no mustard on my burger.  Well, I got mustard and cold fries.   So I asked again for the hot fries I initially requested.  Quick talking tude-dude says "Oh we're cooking up a batch for you right now".  Yeah right.   When they came...we were about done eating.  Then I had a nice big hair in the fries.  The quick talking tude-dude waiter said is wasn't hair, but rather from the fibers of potato sack the potatoes come shipped in.  Yeah, right.  I would expect fibers to crisp up or disappear from the frying experience.  Looked more like a post-fry add-on.  At least it wasn't a pube

As a wrap up, the tude-dude scarfs up my friends special pen, and then he reports it's mysteriously lost.  Yeah, right.    Here's an Island I wont be vistiing anymore.

Islands is alright, for a chain restaurant.  I am normally not a fan at all of chain restaurants (unless its mikuni)  everything normally seems to be generic looking and he food is typical.  However, I would have to say that this place is different.  I love their hamburgers, I think it is a great place to chill out on a total casual dinner night and have burgers and fries.  There fries are amazing too, they are served family style in a basket and can easily feed about 3-4 people, and I guarantee you still won't finish them or finish your burger either.
I know the island decor is cheesey, but I really like it!  haha I like the mood inside and I would like to hangout at the bar because they have some good islandy type drinks, but I haven't got to try any yet !

I thought I would hate this place (I dont eat hamburgers) but I didn't! It was actually pretty good. Good atmosphere, good service and good eats.
I had the tortilla soup ($5) (but with no sour cream...why would I put sour cream on soup?) and the fries ($3).
When I ordered the waitress asked me if I had seen the fries before.
    I said no.
She said, Oh, well you get 2 pounds of fries.
    I thought she was lying.
    She wasn't.
They were good, but please- I think 2 pounds of fries for two people is a little overboard.
At least I know where to go next time I am broke and need to feed lots of people french fries.
