"OOOOooooooo, I could be tellin' ya sum BLOD curdlin' stories, but I'm a wee bit parched!!!"
Nice havin' a place like this sandwiched tween King City and Summerfield. Â Gives the young'ns something to do besides mowing Grandma's lawn. Â And the food is WAYYyy good. Â Nice friendly spot (but far too many Duck fans) with about a GOzillion TVs everywhere you look..
I like to hop on my Yamaha "Zuma" scooter and buzz down for a Martini or two and safe back roads home at a slow speed. Â A hot summer day and a "Black n' Tan" fits the bill.. Â Lots on tap here along with every other type of frosty-cold libation... Â Bring a designated driver!
Work your way thru the Menu and you won't be sorry. Â Be careful though 'cause your girlfriend may want a tour of the Golf Course on the scooter.. Â
"God created Whiskey so the Oirish WOULDN'T rule the World"
See ya there!!
This pub has a great atmosphere and a really great happy hour. I have had the potato skins, the nachos, and the macaroni bites on the happy hour menu and they have all been really good and are really good deals.
Came in for a beer after work to watch Monday night football this week and was surprised to see that the entire bar was full of Philadelphia Eagles. Turns out it is a meet up spot for all the eagles fans. It was pretty fun watching the game with all of them.
One corner of the bar is full of tv screens playing the game and it is kind of a unique setup that I really enjoy watching. Would recommend this place for sure to watch sports and enjoy happy hour grub.
Service, attitudes and drink quality are spotty. No idea where the name came from; if I didn't know it and was asked, I'd say it was an 'Elmer's or Aunt B' but definitely a pit. Nevertheless, you can never go wrong with bottled beverage just watch out for stale ' lacking disinfection' draft beer
lines. The other good thing is the working team aways makes you feel like an outsider. Actually, this may be a good name for this 'stall'. The Outsiders!
I came in here about a year and half ago and the bartender was a PUNK!!! Â He was actually my bartender again tonight and let me tell you, he was FANTASTIC!!! Â The service at this place has drastically changed and I do plan on coming more often.
For the first time I tried the food... WOWOW! Â The nachos were excellent, the chips tasted fresh. Â Wings were crunchy, sauce came on the side but who actually needed the sauce because the wings were moist. Â Enchildas were better than most mexican places I have been to.
Do not skip this place if you are in King City, GREAT SERVICE and great food!
All those who hate this bar should not return.  Those of us that love return weekly - at least.  The food is great, the prices are good, staff super friendly, ample seating, drinks are fine.  There's multiple tvs  - I think the pool table is still here and friendly customers. Â
I haven't seen ANY of the negatives mentioned in a couple of the reviews and I go there frequently. Â The nay sayers should get themselves some eye glasses or just not return. Â It's a great place and nay sayers should look else where to complain. Â And no, I'm not the owner, just a regular customer.
I have been going to J.B. O'Briens for six years. Even though we are only there once a month, the staff always remembers us. I see people have complained about the "short staff" feel. I couldn't disagree more. I have never felt ignored and whether it's slow or they are slammed, they always check on us.
We go there for a beer with friends, breakfast on football Sundays, or a random Happy Hour. All have been great. I will continue to frequent them, even though I don't live in the area anymore.
They need to take the word Irish out of the name. Â There is nothing Irish besides the decorations. Â It is also FILTHY DIRTY GROSS. Â Every time I have been in there, they are bumping some crappy pop music. Â
The service also sucks, always surly, and never a smile. Â Seriously, it really is terrible. Â It is making me angry right now thinking about it. Â It is within walking distance from my house and silly me thought that the service couldn't still suck so hard, but it did. Â I went in, was rudely asked for my ID *but thanks for thinking I look young, then she threw it back at me. Â So, I gathered my id and my friends up and we made a hasty retreat. Â
In a word BLOWS.
We went around 11:30 or so on a Saturday morning. There were about 4 people at the bar and another two parties at tables nearby- not crowded at all. There's no mistake, it is a bar and the sports banners hanging from the ceiling and dozen T.V.s shout it, but has a more inviting, cleaner feel than others. I ordered a hot tea and my boyfriend ordered a coffee. When I asked what he thought of the coffee he said it was good and liked the flavor. We were there for breakfast, so I tried the Red Neck Benedict that was a halved biscuit, sausage patties, an egg on each half all smothered with country gravy. It comes with hash browns or country potatoes on the side, I opted for the latter. Overall it was good! A little more gravy than I was expecting so the egg was lost, but the biscuit was pretty fluffy and the sausage didn't have that "bathed in grease" taste. My handsome companion had the Breakfast Burrito, whose size was something to behold and we could tell it would be a challenge. The contents include corn, beans, potatoes, egg, sausage, and onions. There was a cheesy, ranchy sauce drizzled on top and sour cream and salsa on the side.
When it comes to the service, there seemed to be one waitress who also wore the hat of the bartender. She seemed to be juggling a few things at once, but I never found myself waiting for her to refill my cup or come by for anything, she was on it.  She wasn't overly friendly as some waitstaff can be and was to the point and efficient.
In a nutshell, the food was better than what I was expecting a bar to produce and the prices were what you would find anywhere else. I can't say I would be a regular, but I am both happy enough and curious enough to see what else they have to offer on the menu :)
What a hole. Ive been here numerous times and have never enjoyed myself. Â Nothing about it is "Irish Pub" The place has a few locals hovering around the bar and poker machines. Throwing up a couple shamrocks and Guiness signs dosnt church up what the place is......a dive. Service is lousy. There more friendly with the PBR drinking daily barfly then the customers ordering meals. Which isnt Irish either. Go a mile east and enjoy JB Obrien's.
Review Source:Less of an Irish Pub and more of a dive or local bar. Â Most of the patrons are older, lottery playing folk, probably because J.B.'s is across the street from King City. Â I, personally, have been to enough phony Irish bars that I don't really care if their fare is authentic, but this bar really has no redeeming qualities.
The food is your average bar food: it won't immediately kill you but you would think twice about feeding it to your dog.
The staff says, "What can I get for you?" but little else and seemed to be content acting like the typical tough bar bitch. Â Like any bar they have their regulars and favorite customers but make it all too obvious to the rest of us. Â Sure, Gramps over there probably tips you an extra dollar because he wants to bang you after Wheel of Fortune, but could I trouble you for another Guinness sometime in the next 20 minutes?
The music is your average mind-numbing pop music, the bar itself is clean enough to pass inspection, but unless you are paralyzed in the parking lot and can't make it down the street to a better bar, I'd say avoid J.B.'s and save yourself the disappointment.
8-20-11 Â Â I AM SO SORRY!!! Â I said I would never go here again... and 3 years later, we did! Â We have friends from out of town who wanted to grab a beer and something to eat - they suggested O'Brien's . Â I protested, but we went anyway.
Nothing's changed; still dirty, the music is still loud and now they have speakers outside, so you can't even sit outside and have a conversation. After a few minutes, we had to walk up to the bar and break up the gabfest of the 2 waitresses and 1 bartender to ask for service.  With waiting on the 8 other people in the bar, I understand the pressure of providing good service.  We weren't rude, we just asked if we should  order from the bar or would we get table service. The bartender came to our table and was visually pissed off.  Later, a waitress was equally rude.
So, it looks like O'Briens has actually added something else: bad attitude, poor service.
12-19-08 UPDATE Ok, we tried this place again - it's not any better - although the music wasn't as loud. Â It's still the dirtiest place - it is absolutely skanky - there were cobwebs in the bathroom. I advise people to buy only bottled beer there because for sure the glasses are covered with germs. Â We're giving up on O'Briens....not going again.
Earlier from 9-12-08  LOUD MUSIC DOES NOT MEAN WE"RE HAVING FUN!! Ewwww......dirty, stinky.  Floor tiles applied with duct tape - cleanliness and general maintenance is totally lacking.  What's in the kitchen?  This place is smokey, dirty and too damned loud. The staff must be deaf, cause the music is so loud you can't carry  a conversation.  We couldn't wait to leave.
Best burgers in town! Â I don't know if it's the fake cheese on the Cork Burger or just the name of the sandwich, "The Hot Sister" but the menu is damn good. Â
Decent beer selection on tap, great food, big screen TV with sports on all the time and darts; what more do you need? Â
The only downside of this place in my opinion is that it does get pretty smokey in there.
I don't get it. Â I went on a Friday night and the only thing Irish in the place was me.
It's way smokey and they were playing Snoop Dogg and Fergie for about an hour straight. Â I like Fergie and the D-O-Double G, but not at a pub you know...
Yes they have Guiness on tap, and yes they have Boddingtons on tap, but the staff, the patrons, and the food cries out "Local Bar."
I was looking for some curry and chips, Irish music, and decor that didn't look like another sports bar - I didn't find it here :(
Maybe I didn't go on Irish Night.
Irish pub serves up authentic fare
Irish pubs are always a lot of fun, and this one is no exception. If you like Irish food, you can get an authentic Shepherd's Pie or Bangers and Mash here. For us Yanks, bangers and mash are sage sausages over sauteed onions and garlic mashed potatoes. Yes, they're very garlicky and very good. It's the only Irish dish that I really like, and this place makes a great version. If you're into typical pub fare, they have a good variety of burgers and several meaty entrees, which will remind you of what your mom used to make for Sunday dinners. You can wash it all down with a good variety of imported beers that are hard to find anywhere else.
This place has a fun, welcoming vibe where everyone seems to be chatty, which reminded me very much of the pubs in Ireland. They also have live music on the weekends, which adds to the already fun atmosphere.
Tip: Hit their happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. when appetizers are just $1.95.
