Great place to catch a game or to have a party such as a birthday, or a team get together, or even the end of the season party. Good for groups of people!
They have a lot of seating but if you happen to go on the night of a big game be sure to get there early so you can get seats for everyone as they tend to get pretty crowded and it will be hard to find seating.
They have a few TVs around the walls and then they have 2 big screens, 1 by the bar and the other across the room.
When I go I usually order a pepperoni and sausage pizza with a bucket of buffalo wings. I don't have a problem with either of them as both the pizza and the wings are pretty good!
I have had a burger there a few times and those are also pretty good.
They also have healthy options such as salads, sandwiches, and veggie burgers.
Good atmosphere with good friends and good food and good beer, can't go wrong with that combination!
Their pizza is darn good here. Â I'm not one to indulge in pizza too often but had my fair share (and some) when we made our way in.
You can order one of their signature pizzas or create your own. Â We went with the signature menu and had the Gilroy Garlic and Golden Greek. Â I, personally, preferred the Gilroy Garlic over the Greek - although both were satisfying. Â Just my palate speaking. Â You know what they say, you can't fight the palate *sigh*
It's a total pizza parlor with booth seating, tv's with sports playing on each one and beer on tap. Â This is a great place to watch some sports while you get your grub and drink on.
Stop in here when you find yourself in the Willow Glen area. Â There's parking out front and additional parking in the rear in case they get packed.
(+)
- the veggie pizza, large ~$28
(-)
- pricey
- parking
Placed a pickup order here saturday for dinner. Got lucky and snagged a space in the small inefficiently built parking lot nearby.
I'm not a huge pizza fanatic but their veggie pizza was amazing! I loved the texture of the bread and the toppings were very fresh (loved the artichoke which I've never tried as a pizza topping). I typically dislike olives and this came with a TON, surprisingly I didn't mind them since the combo of ingredients all together tasted so delicious. If you have some handy, I'd highly recommend adding La Vic's orange sauce on top, SO. GOOD.
We got a large which total came out to be about $28, definitely pricey in my opinion but you get fresh ingredients and great taste. I was full after two slices and food coma full after 3. Definitely a place to check out in willow glen, I'll be back!
What a great place to enjoy pizza, wings and beer. Â I have been here multiple times, especially after a Friday night high school football game. Â It seems that this is the place to be to meet the other coaches.
Pizza is great and the wings are tasty. Â The staff is welcoming and buss the tables quickly on a crowded night. Â The only bummer is that the bathrooms can get pretty messy on a busy night.
What?! I haven't reviewed Jake's of Willow Glen yet? talk about fallin asleep at the wheel. Great food, service, fun place, good location, but by far and wide, the best pizza I have ever tried. Typically I enjoy Round Table pizza and High Five pizza is also very good. But since the day I tried the Gilroy Special from Jake's, there hasn't been a pie to top it. It's absolutely great stuff. Their pepperoni is also very, very good. Thanks Jake's.
Review Source:Not too happening on a game night and still could not hear the game.. Â Salad was wilted and some parts of it brown. Â Wrap was not fresh grilled chicken. Â Pizza had no sauce. The little one's meal came with potato chips thrown on the side where as most places would place a small sealed bag on the side. Â Best thing about the meal was the cherry tomatoes.
One hit wonder, and wonder no more:(
I've only been here twice, but those 2 times are all it takes for me to want to keep coming back here. The roomie and I wanted a change of scene from the usual pizzerias that we frequent. Since gourmet pizza was what we were craving, I remembered coming here once and loving the combo pizza the ex and I ordered. This time around the roomie and I ordered a small half Gilroy Garlic and half Chicken Supreme pizza. OHHH MYYY GOODNESS! This heavenly combination was the perfect creation of garlicky, creamy, cheesy goodness ever! From the crust to the fresh toppings and everything in between, our customized pie satisfied our pizza fiending. Overall, great service, beer selections, and pizza! I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the items on their menu and even catch a game on their huge TVs.
Review Source:Love, love, love the family pizza restaurant vibe here at Jake's. Feels wholesome and is delicious!
Walking in, I'm welcomed with the sight of a smiles and laughter -- it's all very inviting. I'm thinking, "Yup, I can get comfy here."
My friends and I ordered the wings, fries, mozzarella sticks, and a small Gilroy pizza.
The side wings, fries, and mozz' sticks are all really run of the mill, but they don't suck.
I had my doubts that a small would be enough, but lo and behold, the three of us couldn't finish the thing. Â The Gilroy pie was topped with fresh green onions and tomatoes once it got out of the oven. Hope your mouth is watering.
It's a kick ass pie. And, I hear the BBQ Chicken pizza is pretty stellar as well.
I left smiling. Nice.
Good pizza.. Maybe not great, but definitely good. Â Tons of topping opportunities to satisfy whatever cravings you may have. Â Gilroy Garlic looks and sounds fabulous, will definitely try that next time...And yes, there will be a next time!
We had a bucket of wings as well, which were pretty disappointing. Â They tasted almost exactly like KFC honey BBQ wings, which I did not like. Â Texture was off, sauce was off, and the wings might actually be smaller than BWW. Â Total letdown.
Last but not least, we also had a chop salad. Â Was hoping for lots of meat, instead got small pieces of meat, lots of fresh from a bag cheese, and lots and lots of lettuce. Â Everything tasted fairly fresh, which was good, and none of the lettuce was browned or bland, which was also good. Â Dressing was good too, albeit unforgettable.
Biggest pluses for this place are delivery (they included everything I needed), atmosphere at the place, tons of selection (huge menu!) and overall pretty decent food. Â Not really high quality, but I assume for the price its better than your other choices on Lincoln, and it definitely wasn't bad. We'll be back.
The pizza was good, but didn't wow me. The toppings are fresh, and they are generous with them, as everyone else noted--especially the cheese. However, the sauce was a bit spicy--I still added peppers, but my mom is really sensitive to heat, and turned bright red and downed tons of water while eating the veggie pizza. My dad got the Greek, and we all misread the sign that mentions peperoncinis--the way it's written on the board, it looked like pepperoni. He's also not a fan of heat, but took them off, and managed to get a good meal. He chose to leave the leftovers behind, though. (They did have the Giant's game on on every screen around the restaurant though, so I think he left satisfied.)
We also got beer and onion rings--the onion rings were good, cheap and a generous portion for the price, the beer was tasty and reasonably priced.
I wouldn't fight coming back if I was with a group who wanted to, but I probably won't choose it again myself.
I love the pizza here - the place is CLASSIC. Tonight we are getting the GILROY SPECIAL and the CHICKEN BBQ with a couple buckets of hot wings. (I think the chickens came from Gold's Gym because they are friggin' huge!)
The Gilroy special is one of my favorites - I also like the Greek Pizza. My friends like the sweetness in the Chicken BBQ. It is easier to go with a group of folks so you can get a lot of different dishes and try everything. It really is all good.
They have sandwiches here too - and onion rings. I never had the sandwiches but hear they are good - a friend ordered the onion rings once and I accidentally ate most of them =D
Best thing about this place is the size of their hot wings - effing ginormous. Decent beer selection, good view of tvs for almost all seats. Plays sports and espn - always local teams on. Wish they delivered more from their menu than just pizza. They are open later than most restaurants in the area, however, this doesn't mean their kitchen will be open. I've been caught a few times running there after work, to get an order in before closing time and the kitchen closed 30 to even 60 mins before they locked the doors. Most places I've gone to keep at least a few things on the menu available until actual closing time... sandwiches, sausages, anything would be better than being told that they shut the kitchen down already even though business hours say you're open for thirty+ more minutes...
Just seems a bit misleading.
And did I mention their deliveries? Pizza only. Even though they have every ability to make an order to go, they will only deliver pizza. Again, makes "we deliver" seem misleading. Most pizza only joints will deliver anything on their menu (sandwiches, sides, salads, drinks...) What's the point of delivering only *some* of your menu?
The two star rating is due mainly to the fact that they say one thing and in realty its something different. I'd be more inclined to rate three stars if they just changed their signs to say what is really going on:
OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT! (but we kill the kitchen when we damn well feel like it - so call ahead!)
DELIVERY! (if you want pizza ONLY - otherwise, tough shit. xoxo management)
This place has some BOMB pizza. They do not skimp on the toppings which is always a plus! Their pizzas are also reasonably prices and pretty big. My boyfriend and I split a small and we are pretty full on the way out.
They have a lot of TVs if you are looking for a spot to watch a game.
Minus one star for some not so awesome customer service. I have found that the people behind the register are not always nice or helpful. When I ask someone in the back, who is usually cooking the food, they are ALWAYS nice and accommodating. Maybe those guys should be up at the register instead of the girl with the tude! JMO. Â :)
It's a place I go to when I crave greasy food but don't know what to get. Â The menu is pretty large and covers items from chicken wings to pizza to to burgers to quesadilla to salad to sandwiches to fondue. Â There is never a time that I just couldn't find anything to eat from the menu. Â The food is decently priced and very delicious - I mean, it's the kind of comfort food that just hits the spot.
Their cheese quesadilla is huge, filled with gooey, melted cheese. Â But their chicken philly cheese steak is the bomb! Â The chicken wings are great, too, with the right amount of sauce that delivers the tangy, spiciness embedded in the tender meat. Â The only thing I would really skip would be the fondue... the cheese is never melty enough and the bread is not that great...
The staff has always been very friendly and nice. Â Service is quick and they put up with a lot on game nights. Â Speaking of game nights, several big screen TVs and a fully stocked bar makes Jake's a great place to hang out and watch me a Sharks game!
And the location is fantastic, located in Willow Glen, it is literally steps away from Goosetown for some post-party partying!
Pretty cool spot to hang out and drink until midnight with your friends. My friends and I walked here after having swirls at Aqui.
You can split a pizza or order a bunch of small appetizers to share. I tried just the regular cheese pizza, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and cheese quesdilla.
I think the onion rings were the best ha. I was more concerned about drinking my blue moon anyways.
Also, there's an arcade room so you can win small prizes from the claw. My friend won me a hippy pinky ring, and super tiny handcuffs. Literally, the handoffs are made for Barbies wrists ha there freaking small. But my friends got plastic bullet necklaces and gun necklaces which is pretty awesome.
I came here for the first time with my boyfriend and a bunch of his friends. This is a great place to go to enjoy a casual dining experience. They have seats for both smaller parties and larger parties, so you're able to enjoy a nice meal with whomever you choose. This place is kind of like a sports bar, with TVs all around. So it makes for a great place to go and enjoy good food and drinks while watching a sports game.
The food is pretty good also. I must say, there portions are quite large. A small pizza can definitely be fulfilling enough for two people and a large pizza can be filling enough for at least 4-6 people. They also have pitchers of beer, which is great when you go with a bunch of friends who like to drink!
I'm sort of torn about Jake's. Â I have had good experiences here, and I've had not so good... I won't complain about the pizza, my family and I enjoy it. Â The fondue is good too, that's a hit. Â It's the other menu items, like the sandwiches and soups that need help. Â Overall, with all visits considered, I'd give 2 and half stars.
I ordered a reuben, and it was almost like they ran out of meat or something, because it was the thinnest reuben I have ever seen! Â My wife and kids all had clam chowder, and my young son is the only one that ate it, but then again he likes mac and cheese from a box. Â My wife always complains about the cleanliness of the tables, which is why we usually just get pizza to go. Â Women! Â Just kidding, I agree with her. Â
I've heard the burgers are good, so I'll try one some time. Â I'm not ready to give up on Jake's because they have good pizza and the staff is friendly, but I hope my future experiences surpass my recent ones. Â I like that they have the big TV with sports always on, that's always a plus.
This place is nice inside, it's like a combination of a sports bar, your grandpa's living room, and a pizza joint. It's pretty dim which means if I get sauce on my shirt only my table can see it. ;)
The pizza was good. My problem with it is the cheese. I asked for my pizza to be well done, and the crust was pretty well cooked, but with the amount of cheese they put on it's impossible to get the rest of the pizza well done (enough). And the other problem with using that much cheese is now that I've refrigerated the leftovers it's completely white and solid. I hate it when the cheese is like that. Kind of unappetizing.
Otherwise, the service was good and friendly. Prices are mid-high range for the pizza, decent for everything else.
Can i say YUM?
well first off, I would like to say the wings are DELISH!!! I like the regular hot wings but sometimes i like to switch it up and get the bbq ones as well. Im sorry to say i've only tried two types of pizza from this place...BUT they were both really good. One of them was the bbq chicken? and the other was just ham and pineapple. The bbq pizza is so bomb, from the crust to the cheese. everything about this pizza is crazy good. the crust is so soft but crispy. You really need to go try for yourself to know what im talking about. I've also ate a couple of other things here which all come in really big portions. The chili cheese dog w/ fries is loaded with chili it came with cheese on the side, so you can add how ever much you like. Ive tried their salads but in my point of view its not so great, but hey it is a pizza place.
you can see im a regular so trust my judgement and GO! :)
I ate here with some Yelpers after the DYC at Second Harvest Food Bank and we were all hungry.
Ironically, I ate no pizza. It's the lactard in me. I did pick off a few toppings and I enjoyed that a lot.
They have a pretty big menu for being a pizza joint. I went with a half sandwich and soup combo.
For those who are new to Jake's, 2 things to keep in mind:
1. They don't really have servers so you get in line and pay, you get a beeper and you pick up your own food at 2 different counters.
2. They have refills on soda, but you have to get up and go to the counter and ask for a refill.
Best part is sitting around for a while and watching all the different people come in. Homeless people that smell like cat urine, tall cowgirls, little Catholic schoolgirls who swear, SJPD.
WHAT? Â I just realized what happened today. Â I went to a PIZZA place (well, primarily, right?) and didn't get pizza. Â I must be ill. Â WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Â Hmmm. Â I have to think about that.
Anyway, we showed up before 11:30. Â My friend ordered a mini pizza. Â Then I ordered a Chicken Ceasar (Salad) Wrap. Â
My order came up first. Â Chips were fresh and colorful, but my friend and I were a little shocked to see that the menu actually did mean fruit COCKTAIL just like it said. Â It was dumped out of a can and just as disgusting as fruit cocktail in a can is. Â But the wrap was good. Â The tortilla was green so I am thinking it was spinach (the menu said, but I forgot). Â It was soft and seemed pretty fresh (unlike the fruit cocktail), and lettuce seem fresh too. Â It was good. Â I liked it. Â
I actually have faith that there are better things on the menu . . . . at least more "Jake" kind of things, but I really wasn't in the mood to try anything like that. Â I was looking for light and somewhat healthy and I think the wrap fit the bill.
The gentleman taking the orders was nice. Â
Since it is right next to where I teach I am sure that I will be back. Â
I want to try the fondue . . . unless it is just melted Velveta. Â
Oh, and I am not sure the prices on the website are the same as in the restaurant. Â The mini pizza is not priced correctly on the site, not sure about everything else.
GARLIC. If you like it, get the Gilroy Special. Sure it arrives and looks like a regular ole pizza heavy on the sliced tomatoes, but it packs a fiesty garlicy punch.
The inside of this place is kitsch... divey but cute. I hear their burgers aren't bad either...but we went for the pizza. Oh their cesear dressing? Heavy on the garlic too. YES.
Oh Jake's, if it wasn't for you and my boyfriend's insistence to watch EVERY Shark's game there, I'd probably be much skinner. Now, that the players are cleaning out their lockers and fans are once again swimming in a sea of disappointment that is Bay Area sports, I'll still come back for your pizzas, beers on tap, and so-called wine list.
Pizza-- delicious! somewhere between a thick crust and a really thick crust, it's always crunching on top and chewy in the middle. They always put enough sauce to compliment the cheese. I love the regular pepperoni at this place, but their combos are always great too. And if you plan not to make out with anyone for the next week, the Garlic Chicken is great, too.
Chicken Wings and tenders-- I like the tenders, not the best I've had, but still good nevertheless. I think I just feel guilty eating them, so it never resonate with good memories.
Beer-- they have Anchor Steam and Newcastle on tap, yay!
Wine-- EH! Â I'm a wine snob, so my complaint here is not really reasonable for a beer and pizza place.
The place is usually cracking when there is a big game on esp. during hockey season. There always seem to be enough space and chairs to fit everyone and arcade games for the little ones. Overall, great food, great place!
One of my favorite places to slop down a greasy meal and take in a ball game. Their pizza is extraordinary. Fantastic combination of crunchy, chewy crust, flavorful sauce, and thick gooey cheese. If you are a sausage lover, I highly recommend topping a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and linguica--quite a meaty trio treat.
The sandwiches are also a win-win decision. Philly Cheesesteak is oh so delish; and mixed with curly fries and a trough of ranch is where you'll find yourself entranced in a beefy Babylonian bliss.
In the immortal words of Dick Vitale, "He's a ptper baby--a PRIME TIME PLAYER!!
When I worked in Willow Glen, I would visit Jake's at least once a week. This was good for my taste buds, but was not so good for my waistline.
Anyway, I highly suggest the Jake's Deluxe Burger. It's a small burger, but very big on taste. It comes with a very healthy (as in large) side of fries. It is one of my favorite burgers in the Bay Area.
The pizza is delicious. My soccer team loves it. The BBQ chicken one is awesome. I have also had the chicken strips and the cheese fondue. Both were very good. My friends tell me the salads are good, but I don't come here for salads.
Also, this location also offers a good sized bar, TV screens with the game of the day, and stellar service. Check it out. But yeah, be sure to work out after.
Good Pizza with Good Friends. What more can you ask for.
Went recently when my friend was in town. we had a large pizza and a bucket of Chicken wings that we absolutely could not finish and I don't hang out with people that can't eat. The pizza was good as were the wings.
A great neighborhood pizza joint to hang out watch a game and talk story.
I have been wanting to try Jake's for years. Â I've driven by it a million times and just never went in. Â Tonight we went in! Â
If you are a fan of The Garret in Campbell, you will like Jake's. Â It's got very similar decor and TV's for great sports watching. Â We watched the end of the Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Â It was a tie game right up til the bottom of the 9th.....then Tampa Bay scroed and it was all over. Â BOO! Â Ah well....back to my review....
It's a family friendly place. Lot's of choices.......sandwiches, burgers, even cheese fondue and don't foget the pizza. Â This is good pizza, not New York style but good none the less. Â It's a thicker crust. My daughter loves pizza and she is a purest. Â Most of the time it's plain cheese for her. Â I will eat anything but I do love a good combination. Â Tonight we went for something different......1/2 cheese with black olives and 1/2 garlic chicken supreme. Â YUM!! Â My DD loved her pizza! Â I loved mine too....a nice white sause, chicken, mushrooms, red peppers and lots of garlic. Â No vampire will come near me for a few days at least! Â It was a nice change of pace. Â The crust was crispy on the bottom, even golden brown on the top. Â Delish!!
They have a nice bar and lots of beer on tap. Â This would be a place you could easliy go by yourself to have a cold one and watch a game. Â
I'm sure we will be back once hockey season starts. Â GO SHARKS!!!!
If you have never been to this strip mallish place in Willow Glen then you might not understand when I say that it is like a bizarre Twlight Zone gathering of people. Â You have Jake's, Puerto Azul Mexican food, Goosetown and Kragen's.....so in true Kragen parking lot fashion we parked our bikes and were viciously barked at by a bad ass pit bull in a ghetto ass delapidated mini van - probably just guarding the dope in the baby seat.
Anyhewww, it was my suggestion to come here - I am bored with the usual, Aquis, Willow Street, Pizza My Heart combo.....and I am glad I did. But seriously, Im a tard for never coming here before. As a member of the damn proud to live in Willow Glen cougar in training program, you think I would have been here before.....
And, if I had read the reviews prior I would not have said (upon walking in the door) "This place reminds me of The Garrett in Campbell." Double tardism.
Was I so impressed with the chefs salad I was doing backflips? No. Was it a shitload of meat and cheese and creamy Italian dressing? Yes. Were the chicken strips tasty and not greasy? yesmmmm. Oh and was the Fat Tire one of the largest beers I have wrapped my paws around, ever? Hell Yes!
The best part? A small bar with beer and wine and TV's for all the good sports - oh and a dude driving into the lot with a slammed Pontiac GrandAm with spinner rims he just picked up next door. What more could a little Kitty ask for?
The pizza here is excellent! From the golden bottom crisp crust to the sauce, cheese, toppings...I love it all! One of their specialty pizzas is a favorite of mine: The Gilroy Special. The sauce they use for this pie is Ranch and topped with garlic, chives, green onion, pepperoni, Italian Sausage, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and Monterey jack cheese.
In the mood for a sandwich? Well, their burgers are really good. I love their Philly Cheesesteaks and French Dip Sandwiches. Buffalo wings (mild or hot) are on the menu and they are pretty darn good. Their fries and onion rings are good and their salads are exceptional! I tried a small Chef's salad tonight and I was impressed...and I don't impress easily! In this small salad that seemed to feed enough for 2 or three people, they had bits of ham and turkey along with a little mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top. It really made this salad pop! I'm not much of a salad person either!
The prices here are just right. You'll notice that their small pizzas are really medium, mediums are large, etc. Just for comparison, you can get a small combination pizza for about $14 and you can get a Philly Cheesesteak with fries for almost $8.
I have been going to Jakes for years. They have friendly staff and the customer service is good. The atmosphere is a sports bar feel; a good place to watch the Sharks games or other sporting events on the big screen and going to the bar to have a pitcher or two of Hefe' on tap with the guys while you inhale a pizza.
It could get crowded at times with the families and their children running around, which means the wait may be a little long, but trust me, the wait is well worth it! Â The parking situation is very limited to a small parking lot and parking along the street, but I've always managed to find parking.
