Came here for the Yelp Event last week, it felt like a mini vacay away from the typical, commercialized Island. Once you get past the roundabouts in Riverhead you're on your way to the gem that is Jedediah. What's the saying, getting there is half the fun? It certainly felt like it when passing by the farms, vineyards, and ma and pa stores on 25. It was very easy to forget that this was still New York, I can see why people say the North Fork has that New England touch to it.

The property itself is a sight to see especially when coming in on the driveway. A fountain in the front, a pond on the side, and their own fresh grown herbs and vegetables in the back. The house is much bigger than I expected, all the rooms are decorated with things I never knew existed. I didn't know the walls could be made so smooth (lawlz). Food was awesome, dinner we had a seared tuna which was made right in front of us by Chef Lia Fallon. It was also the first time I was in a kitchen of a restaurant; well kept, well organized, and clean from one corner to the other. The best part was dessert, they had fresh macaroon's that melted in your mouth as well as chocolate mousse.

Come here for the food, the scenery, and a escape from the craziness that lies West of Jamesport.

The Jedediah Hawkins Inn is nothing short of spectacular, and I say this having experienced the last 4 chefs. The best part is, just when you think they're the tops they just keep improving!

We went to brunch last sunday as part 2 of my husband's birthday celebration and we were bowled over once again. The menu was great, the service was great, and the drinks were double plus great. I had the blood orange mimosa since we were going wine tasting after, and the substitution of blood orange gave the drink a nice bright lift. My husband had the bloody mary and HOLY HECK was it good. Perfect flavor, the right amount of spice, and also the right amount of booze. Yes. Then along came a basket of fresh bread and butter. Normally I forgo the bread or even send it back so it's not wasted, but this time I knew I had to try it and I'm glad I did because it was just perfect. For the meal, I had the crab and avocado frittata and my husband had the croissant BLT with avocado and chiplotle lime mayo. Both were sublime. The service was fantastic and you were encouraged to relax and take your time, which we did before strolling the grounds. We were seated in the solarium with a fantastic view of the chef's garden, pergola, and barn.

Let me say the solarium is a very welcome upgrade to the covered porch they used to have, and I know this because we were married there four years ago! It rained like armageddon was coming and the old porch roof leaked here and there, but we still had a great time. The solarium is much snazzier. It's a beautiful room. We were happy to note the other rooms were largely unchanged. If you are considering staying for the night, definitely go for it. Each room is comfy, cozy and quirky. And if you get the chance to stay in the suite, do not hesitate! We rented the whole place for family for the wedding and it was so worth it. Everyone loved it. Even during a highly volatile time for the Inn they pulled out all the stops and gave us an incredible wedding we and our family and friends will never forget.

All the improvements they've been making are fantastic and so far Chef Lia is continuing the trend of the Inn getting better and better as time goes on. We can't wait to return to try dinner.

Gorgeous grounds, amazing rooms (the suite is a MUST stay once in your life), and of course delicious food..the Jedediah Hawkins Inn provides a relaxing retreat hidden on the North Fork of Long Island. Their macaroons are little gems from heaven, you will  dream of them and the strawberry rhubarb lemon curd parfait was like nothing I have ever tasted before. It has made me rethink my twenty year hatred of rhubarb and questioned everything I ever knew about parfait. Of course the actual food is delicious as well. I sampled the duck spring rolls and it was just perfection. This is a must stop while wine tasting out on the North Fork and I promise you will not be disappointed. Even if it is for a John Daly (with fresh lemon balm from their herb garden fyi) on their porch you just MUST MUST MUST stop by Jedediah Hawkins Inn!

Went here for an event, learned the history of the house, and got a chefs tour of the on site garden. This place is uniquely unique. The food was thoughtfully prepared fresh straight from their garden or with locally acquired ingredients. So stop in for a night, or dinner, or a drink and enjoy this hidden gem of the north shore.

we were here for Easter dinner and then again yesterday for Mother's Day. The new chef Lia Fallon is WONDERFUL and we all had a great meal and lovely afternoon. This place keeps getting better and better. Our waiter Vinny yesterday was fun and professional, and took great care of us all. Made me look good in front of my guests!!!

We were a dinner party of 3.We took an 87 year old woman with us to make the occasion special for her. It was not.

It took the server 20 minutes to even ask if we wanted a drink.

    Appetizers: three (?) shrimp.

Meal: The dinner arrived very late. One of the two filets was not medium rare, but blasted.

Service: We were the second table in the dining room at the seating yet we were ignored.

    Restaurant owner: MIA.

Food. Service. Commitment to the diner. It is as simple as that.  One does not require "status" to post a review

Went for Restaurant Week on Friday.  Everything was delicious, but what really stood out to us was the service - so wonderful!  It's so nice to go out to a restaurant and be served amazing food and treated like gold.  The manager stopped by our table twice during the meal to check in. They really put their best food forward and we can't wait to return.
For the first course we got the duck rolls served with a spicy orange marmalade (I think), goat cheese salad and baked clams.  Baked clams were my favorite. Really delicious with light, yet crisp crumb. Loved them. Duck rolls were good too, but a little greasy for my taste. I was told the salad was excellent but didn't try it.
For our main courses we got duck breast served with sweet potato puree, salmon with coconut couscous, and hanger steak with little potatoes.  Everyone loved their meal. The salmon was cooked to perfection.  The skin was perfectly crisp.  My favorite was the duck.
For dessert we had the chocolate marquise, ice cream trio, and apricot buckle.  We didn't do much sharing of our desserts, but everyone raved about the flavors.  I loved my apricot buckle.  I did wish it could have been warmer, but I was caught chatting for a bit while it was served, so that might have been my own fault.  Overall, loved!  We all had a lovely evening out.  And for $27 (or something, I forget exactly) per person it was well worth it.

Now that Luce and Hawkins has officially been closed down for several weeks, it's time to welcome Long Island's own celebrity (and my personal favorite) chef from Amarelle, Lia Fallon.

I've been to Jedediah Hawkins Inn several times now after Lia has taken it over and here's my thoughts:

+ Service: I liked JHI's serivce prior but I like it even more now - I welcome Lia's refreshed menu and it's a welcome surprise to see some her best serving staff (Diane, & Jessica) from Amarelle, now serving at JHI. Amazing. The service was always top notch at JHI but the personal service that Diane and Jessica give you, is unsurpassed on the NoFo.

+ Food: Apparently there have been 1-2 folks on here who are continuing to write reviews on their horrible food experiences and according to their Yelp status, don't have much credibility to be writing what they are. I've tried almost EVERY item on Lia's menu here at JHI including being in the kitchen a few times (which by the way I have to admit is almost freakishly clean for such a huge/busy kitchen), and am REALLY happy to see that she's taken her several years of experience from Amarelle and kicked it up a notch at JHI! Congrats Lia!!! Thanks for keeping us as happy as you have been!

+ Ambience: JHI is a place unlike any other - it's a beautiful house and inn set back from the road and has a VERY dramatic appeal...you won't be disappointed. It always gives me some chills looking at it as it's kinda' spooky, yet classic and country at the same time....love it, JHI folks - don't change the way the place looks, keep maintaining it. LOVE what you guys keep doing here decor wise...

+ Speakeasy: How many restaurants do you know that have a speakeasy in the basement?! On the NoFo of LI? Yeah. Go and visit it, have a cocktail downstairs in the speakeasy that most people don't know about...we'll keep this our little secret.

In Summary? Lia Fallon continues to maintain her amazing reputation in the NYC area and keeps me a proud fan favorite of her's for the past few years and the next several years to come.

GO to JHI, and tell Lia I sent you!!!! You will not be disappointed folks...check out her refreshed options at JHI and you'll instantly fall in love if you already haven't from your amazing experiences at Amarelle or other private events that she's done!

We heard great things about the restaurant at the Jedediah Hawkins Inn-- it was recommended to us by so many people that we had to try it. Everyone raved about the new chef. They were all right! We had a delicious meal with friendly, attentive service. We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu, which was a steal. Every course was amazing-- we especially liked the coconut flan! We will definitely return the next time we are on Long Island!

We made reservations for restaurant week, Friday, early evening. The table was immediately available and the staff attentive. The historic home where the restaurant and Inn are located is beautiful and easy to find, right off rt 25. The menu was generous although I detest the upcharges that so many restaurants add on for many dishes. If you participate in restaurant week, then participate at the advertised cost. Don't add $8 to half the entrees or $4 or $2 to the apps and desserts. That being said, my friends liked their duck breast, short ribs and I liked my lamb. The duck rolls (app) were excellent, the rest good, but not head turning.Presentation  A-, dishes were hot, executed well but I felt, somewhat underseasoned. They did LOVE the goat cheese salad. Overall a pleasant meal, lovely atmosphere (except the battery tea lights, ugh, on the tables), no major faults, but nothing outstanding.

I've been to your restaurant two delightful times, the last being on Easter Sunday.  The atmosphere is charming, food excellent and the staff very accommodating.  I was made to feel very welcomed from the moment I entered into the building to the time I left, while in between enjoying a delicious dinner.  I certainly will recommend Jedediah Hawkins to my friends as I look forward to returning real soon.  Ann D.

We usually stay home for Easter, but after trying the new chefs food last week we decided to head out for our holiday dinner. The only thing to complain about was the obnoxious table across the room complaining about who knows what. In my opinion they were probably looking for something for free. The cheese and charcuterie plate was great it was loaded with 3 meats and 5 types of cheese. I had the duck rolls and my wife had the shrimp cocktail which were both fabulous, the shrimp were the biggest shrimp I have ever seen. My filet was moist and cooked perfectly and she had the ham which she couldn't finish after the shrimp and cheese. Desserts were excellent, the sorbets and crime brûlée were both great. I think that this place is back on the map and we will definitely be back.

This place is incredible. We arrived there at 6pm after sunset and the back drop and some snow in the lawn and it was lighted up like a castle in a fairy tale. Very cozy inside with divided small rooms and fireplaces. Very well decorated. Also displayed many local artist paintings.
Food was great!!! I had the set menu with a salad, Filet Mignon, blue velvet cupcakes for dessert and a glass of local LI wine. Worth every penny of $35. My date had the seafood Croquettes and grilled Branzino. Both were delicious! We were able to taste a few of the local LI wines which were excellent!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal in a cozy, friendly  warm setting.  First had a drink downstairs in the speakeasy.  The whole staff was attentive and friendly.  Went upstairs and loved our meal with the fireplace on during a cold Feb night.  The main courses and deserts were fantastic.  Overall a top meal at a charming Inn.
Will recommend and next time hope to enjoy a night over !

If I could give this a "0" star rating, I would.
My boyfriend, Eric, wanted to surprise me with a lovely post Valentine's day dinner and picked the Jedediah Hawkins Inn to do so. We arrived and I was immediately taken with the quirky charm, I even began day dreaming of a wedding taking place here. We were seated by a fireplace and settled in for what I had hoped would be a great meal. Unfortunately we sat, and sat, and sat until someone finally greeted us. To say we had to coach our waitress through service would be an understatement. We had to coax the specials out of her, ask for more water, some bread...I felt a bit like Jean Valjean having to steal bread for his hungry sister.
We ordered our starters, the NoFo duck wings and the lobster & shrimp meatballs and waited. We waited, and waited, and waited. Our appetizers were served by a busboy who dropped the dishes and ran like his pants were on fire. The NoFo duck wings were phenominal, the meat fell off the bone, the sauce was sweet and tangy, absolutely delicious. The lobster & shrimp meatballs were divine. At first I was expecting some kind of arancini & seafood mixture but once the initial shock wore off, we enjoyed them thoroughly.
After we finished our appetizers we sat and waited, waited and sat - sensing a theme here? Our server had a perfect opportunity to up her tip by offering to refresh our drinks or even get us more water, but she didn't. Our bread and appetizer plates sat on the table collecting conversation until Eric finally flagged someone down to clear the dirty dishes. At this point, I kind of sensed this would not be a meal that ended well but I stuck it out and waiting...and waited.
Our entrees finally arrived and to say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. Eric ordered the lobster risotto...I would estimate there was at most 1/2 cup risotto on the plate. I understand lobster is expensive and in February it will be even more expensive but Aborio rice (if that was the grain used) is on average $4 a pound (obviously this is for the average consumer, I would assume a restaurant can purchase it for much less via J. Kings or a Restaurant Depot). To be frank, it was alright. The lobster was sweet, the risotto was creamy....it was good, not $30-something a plate good but palatable. Now onto my disappointment, the hearth roasted branzino. I'm a fish person, as a toddler my dad couldn't shuck clams fast enough to keep me quiet, I will always choose fish if it's on the menu. Tasteless and mushy best describes this dish. I've had branzino and it has always been a favorite of mine but this was just a fish shoved into an oven and served without care. Would it have killed the chef to use salt, pepper, rosemary, parsley, lemon juice or butter? I was actually sad looking at this dish, the artichokes that were served with it were...eh, no doubt canned, rinsed and thrown around the fish. And it was just a fish, nothing else. Maybe seasoning the artichoke hearts and tossing them with some capers for a little Mediterranean style "salad". I barely at the entree as frankly it wasn't worth the time and effort of pulling the flesh off the bone.
The server came to clear our plates and asked how everything was, not one to sugar coat anything I said "disappointing, to be honest" - her response "ok, dessert?", not "oh, I'm so sorry" or "what was wrong?" Just a blank "ok". At that point Eric shot me the "we will not be staying for dessert" look, one that had been given only one other time when we thought I had food poisoning. We paid the check and headed for the car.
Realizing we just had $150 worth of mediocre appetizers, we stopped for pizza on the way home - best $10 we ever spent. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I don't usually write negative restaurant reviews online but this was special, I'm even considering writing the owner.

Service is as rude as can be. Have been coming here for years and have never been treated so poorly. I heard the management turned hands and didn't believe it could be that bad but it is. We waited over 40 minutes for our table and when we finally asked for the manager he was appalling. There are many other great restaurants in the area so I would recommend going there.

This place is amazing. I have been out there many times and have to say the service is impeccable. From ordering appetizers or a dinner or lunch, you are treated like you are the only one there. I have had the pleasure of seeing all the rooms upstairs and had drinks in the cozy, romantic speakeasy.  I recommend this place to anyone going out for a north fork trip. I have brought numerous people out and of course the duck wings are always the big hit.  Everytime I have been there Chef Luce always comes to our table to speak with us about our dinners or drinks. Amazing place.

Went to Luce and Hawkins for Long Island Restaurant Week for the $25 three-course dinner.  The solarium was heated and cozy.  We got to try out a few brews on tap before indulging ourselves with decadent food.  I ordered the "autumn squash soup" appetizer with maple-sherry drizzle and  brioche croutons.  So warm, savory and comforting: would love to curl up with this soup in front of a blazing fire. My husband, not a salad guy absolutely loved the "chopped chicken, apple, bacon, gorgonzola salad". For the entree I ordered the pork stew (hearty, savory, rich) and he the wagyu skirt steak: comfort food with a modern take, the perfect late fall menu for such a fantastic price.  Thank you L&H for participating in LIRW and making your food available to everybody.

I have been a fan of this establishment since it was the Hampton's Designer Showcase house years ago. First off, the renovation to yesteryear( I  made up the word,OK ) is really cool. Looks like it did in the 1800's when it was a real captains home. The food is ever changing with the seasons. My favorite time of the year is the summer. Incredible vegetables and herb gardens in the back off the kitchen, Salads are amazing, Freshness is second to none. Once and a while the wait staff is not 100% on what's in a new dish on the menu. This is the key to fine dining, a knowledgeable staff. Food is always great. Had some duck wings recently that were melt in your mouth fantastic.I highly recommend going to this wonderful dining experience and it's also has some gorgeous guest rooms to bring you back in time. Very romantic captain's suite. "Ahoy matey".

For most people, the vineyards are an excuse to head to the North Fork. My excuse is the Luce-Hawkins Restaurant. One of the best restaurants on Long Island. I've been there three times. Each time was amazing. Refined dishes that you would't expect on Long Island. Beautiful, romantic setting. Try Luce's chenin blanc. Highly recommend. Afterwards, head downstairs to the speakeasy and enjoy another glass of wine. Great, knowledgable staff.

If you are going to do the wine thing, find a way to head to Luce-Hawkins.

I have wanted to go to Jedediah Hawkins Inn for years as the use of locally grown ingredients, the fine ambience, inn exterior and all peaked my interest.  My husband and I were fortunate to have been lended a house on the water for the weekend, so to complete the experience we made a reservation.....

I am always extremely disappointed when the "front of the house" doesn't match the "back of the house".  The SERVICE was SUBPAR.  We ordered drinks (good) and shared an appetizer.  Finished drinks, sat for a while (no clearing, would you like something else?  another cocktail, wine with dinner, perhaps?).  Our dinner was served by a runner/busboy who put down the plates and stepped away.  We asked him to clear the drinks and appetizer plate!? (That's what you do in a fine restaurant, right?)   We asked if we could get wine with dinner.  He got the waitress; we ordered a glass of wine (didn't want to be sitting there having to finish a whole bottle of wine when we had already gotten our food.  But perhaps, we would have ordered a bottle of wine if someone had asked us long ago).  Instead of the waitress going to the bar to get our glasses of wine as she clearly saw that we had our entrees, she went to the table of 6 next to us to take their order?!  Can you believe?  We kept on waiting for our wine.  Halfway thru the meal I stopped eating - I actually wanted to enjoy the pinot noir with the duck breast ?, and asked that we get our wine.  Finally it came as my husband was on the last bite of his meal.  The waitress apologized saying they were backed up which was a lousy excuse as she, as I said, went to the next table to take their order.  And if she were really apologetic citing that they were backed up, et al, she should have perhaps removed the glasses or wine from the bill or provided another satisfactory alternative.  As I was chewing my last bite, another busboy came by and removed our plates - they were clearly empty but an observant waitperson would have seen that I was till chewing and as such I had no choice but to leave an unchewable piece on the side of the salt dish (ugh, I know).  We reclined to the waiting area to finish our wine - we were clearly done with the dining room.  If I were the chef, I would be steaming mad.  Given the DR experience, we would not return.  Too bad, cos it is such a beautiful well maintained place with lovely ambience.

what cozy friendly place, not to mention the food is AMAZING.

My friend and I decided to go out around the North Fork for the day, we did some fresh fruit and vegetable picking, then went wine tasting and ended up at this cute little place. The staff are super friendly and the interior had an awesome vibe. We had our table right next to the fire place and I really felt like I was in my grandma's living room. I understood why people raved about this place.

Since I'm a vegetarian, we had the watermelon appetizer. Then the super friendly waiter suggested for me to try the pasta without the anchovies, WOW. Possibly the best pasta I have ever had. I usually don't even eat pasta because I'm very conscious of what I eat and tend to stay away from carbs. But I couldn't resist and finished my plate :x My cowarker had the duck which she kept on tempting me  to try because she said it was seriously amazing. We also had the fries on the side which we also devoured.

The whole atmosphere of this place is super cozy and intimate. We felt like we lived there and should be going up to our rooms after dinner, too bad we had to head home. I would definitely come back again during winter. I can already imaging myself sitting by the fireplace and looking out at the snow falling from the sky.

The BEST place to stay in the North Fork. Hands down.

Jedediah Hawkins Inn has a special place in my heart, and I consider this the best thing I've ever found solely through Yelp and Google searching. A year ago, I got married at a vineyard in the North Fork. My family and wedding party booked up all of the rooms (6) in the Inn for the weekend, and we had our rehearsal dinner downstairs in the restaurant, Luce & Hawkins.

The Manager at the time (Michael) was amazingly hospitable and accommodating, and helped make it a great experience. We returned for the weekend on our 1-year anniversary, to find out there is new management now. I admit I was a little bummed about that, but the new manager seemed nice, and we didn't run into any issues during our stay.

Chef Luce is great, and any foodies would be pleased. The dinner was delightful, but the best thing ever was actually the BREAKFAST. All guests staying at the Inn get a special multi-course breakfast every morning that is just heavenly (and I never use that word). My croissant was so fresh that it was not only perfectly crisp and light, but it was also still warm inside....and I believe a good croissant is a good indicator. The other dishes were all seasonal, local, and delicious. I've never been a morning person OR a breakfast person, but I woke up at 9am on a Saturday and Sunday morning for this. And it was SO worth it. Can I start every day like this?!?

Let me give you a perfect weekend plan:
    - Saturday afternoon vineyard-hopping and sightseeing
    - Saturday evening dinner at Luce & Hawkins
    - Book 1 night at Jedediah Hawkins in the Cider or the Cocoa room
    - Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    - Sunday morning 7-course breakfast at Jedediah Hawkins Inn

    THE END. You're welcome!

Had a bunch of small plates down in the "speak easy" downstairs and each dish was super tasty.

Only suggestion: duck wings were so tasty but lacked a bit of meat...need to get some meatier wings.

    Other than that, delicious.

We went to Luce Hawkins restaurant in Jedediah Hawkins Inn. To start, you pull up, and you are transformed back in time, almost feeling like you're in The Great Gatsby. It has a very regal look and feel to it, but my boyfriend and I were looking for a more casual feel, so we decided to eat in the "speakeasy". It had an awesome vibe---stone walls, a fireplace, wooden bar, huge tv, and a hooka. we were the only ones down there til the end of our meal, so it was nice to have some privacy.

the food was delicious--we got all small plates so we could taste a bunch of different items. my favorite were the lobster and shrimp "meatballs" and the veggie summer rolls.

service was great. we always had plenty of attention from various staff members, which was especially impressive, considering how far we were away from the rest of the diners.

I can't believe that the best lunch I've had in New York was not in the city but rather in a small winery town in Long Island.

First of all, the grounds are immaculately kept.  The inn itself is charming and set stunningly against a background of pristine gardens and open fields.

We arrived late in the afternoon and were told that we could only order of the interim menu.  Despite the limited selection, everything we ordered (nofo duck wings, lobster roll, crab cakes, and farmhouse veggies) undoubtedly deserved a best-ever rating.  The combination of four best-ever dishes in one sitting was totally overwhelming.  Even the salad that came on the side of the lobster roll was out of this world.  I nearly fell over in my chair.

The service was attentive but not overbearing.  I also really loved their homemade butter and bread, served with flaky sea salt.  These people get me, and I get them.  In fact, I think I love them.

I'm planning a return trip to Jedediah Hawkins in two weeks.  If I could, I would eat there every day.

After a long day of vineyard hopping, this was the perfect place to wrap our day. The food here was delicious, the service was friendly and fast, and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat out in the greenhouse area which was beautiful.

    Appetizers:
    1) Nofo duck wings (cucumber-feta raita, chili-garlic sauce)
    2) Firecracker scallops (wasabi, tempura & egg crumbs, smoked steelhead caviar)
    3) Shrimp & Lobster "Meatballs" smoked chili-lime mayo

    Entrees:
    1) Fish of the day (tuna) on sardinian cous cous & tomato
    2) Crescent Duck Breat (duckling chili & dried cherry tamale)

    - loved everything that we ordered. The tuna was cooked perfectly to my request and they gave a decent amount of food.

This was quite possibly the most amazing experience I've had since we moved back to the USA 7 months ago...

The inn itself is stunning.  it's not one of those gross American Victorian pastiches.  Instead, it is a well though-out lovely inn where every need is catered for...  The rooms are tastefully and thoughtfully decorated, the public spaces are both grand and cozy and the gardens are beautiful, especially the kitchen garden out the back.

Sarah and co + Keith Luce were hugely hospitable and charming.  I felt like I had landed in an old friend's house rather than an inn that I found on Table hotels.  They were awesome, inviting and just plain nice.  I would go back any time and will recommend this place to all my friends.

The food was absolutely amazing -- we ate two dinners and two breakfasts there.  I will review Luce + Hawkin on their yelp page but seriously...  it is totally worth the trip just for that.  Seriously.  So good.  I won't go on about it, but everything about the food was fantastic.  I can't wait to go back in a different season to see what Mr. Luce will come up with.

I cannot rave enough about Jebediah Hawkins Inn... the food, the service, the property, absolutely wonderful.  Down to the very small details, everything was flawless.  Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a weekend getaway into Long Island's wine country or Hamptons (although it's a bit far).

Michael, the inn's manager can teach a course in hospitality because he is simply amazing.  Remembers everyone's names, comfortably warm, and has a sick... sick mp3 playlist :)

I would definitely return here again...

I agree with the recent reviews - Wow! To clarify, the inn is Jedediah Hawkins, but the restaurant is Luce + Hawkins (Executive Chef Keith Luce). This new chef has created a great environment where you can enjoy fabulous food and drink.

I have always thought the inn and it's grounds are just beautiful and now I think (finally) the restaurant is worthy of this lovely location. Great options on a menu that focuses on locally produced and sustainable ingredients including wine from the nearby vineyards.

Dining at Luce + Hawkins is a sublime experience. Executive Chef Keith Luce is a master of art culinaire. Using locally-produced sustainable ingredients is a cornerstone of Luce's strategy. The New Year's Eve 2010 menu included 6 courses paired with wines produced on the North Fork of Long Island. Luce's time as the Executive Chef for President Clinton's White House helped to refine his exceptional culinary skills yet he presents food at Luce + Hawkins in a very approachable format, letting the main ingredients dominate the flavor.

For our dinner, we started with an amuse bouche of cured salmon followed by oysters & caviar. Next, a scallops crudo preceded crispy veal sweetbreads. The fourth course included venison loin served with seared foie gras. After a cheese course, we finished the evening with a gelled tropical fruit dessert. The wine pairings were well-selected.

If you venture out to the North Fork for a weekend of wine-tasting, be certain to finish the experience with a dinner prepared by Keith Luce. You will not be disappointed!!

I enjoyed the food at Luce & Hawkins, but I think it was really the combination of amazing ambiance while dining in the green house and slightly above average cuisine that warrants my good review.

The setting of the inn and restaurant is just fantastic, a great place to end the day after wine tastings. I enjoyed my cocktail, which was a brown butter infused rum topped with sparkling french cider and a dusting of fresh nutmeg. The entree (seared tuna) was extremely fresh and nicely prepared, but the heavy, spicy szechuan sauce that drenched the local green beans downplayed their freshness and seemed odd paired with the delicate tuna. Considering the green beans are also offered as a side, it also seemed like an afterthought.

In addition to the tuna, I tried the mussels and the fried chicken. The portion of mussels was small, but the strong taste of beer in the broth was really a turnoff and once again overpowered the flavor of good mussels.

The chicken was well cooked but the breading was just ok and the mustard in the accompanying potato salad was way too overwhelming.

Overall, the techniques behind their cuisine is spot on- everything was perfectly cooked and of the highest quality- but they need to work on creating a good balance between the protein and sides.

I think I would return if they re-vamp their menu.

So I'm giving this place a star for being really charming and pretty, and another star for having a really down to earth and sweet staff. One more star for a great bed and a lovely breakfast. Unfortunately,, that's where my compliments end. Let me say first of all- very sketchy wireless. It only works in a few spots of the inn, which is bad if you have work to get done. The dinner was decent, but not anything spectacular. Then... there was my room. At $250, I think I'm entitled to some basic requests- heat, a working television, and.... well, HEAT!!! I was freezing in my room. The heat switch in my room didn't work and there was cold air blowing into my room on a chilly night. The fix? I had to wait in the hallway while they covered my vents with folders to keep out the cold air. Huh??? Did I mention I paid $250? And that was their CHEAPEST room! To be fair, the TV worked, IF you went right up to the TV and pointed the remote at it from 2 inches away. A note to the owners- if you are going  to charge these sorts of prices, maintain your property. I am snobby enough that I'll usually pay some extra cash to stay at a nicer hotel. But NOTHING pisses me off more that dropping a few hundred dollars to have a low quality product. I may be a snob, but
now I'm wishing I'd paid $80 to stay in a Holiday Inn where they at least
    have heat.

A beautiful Bed and Breakfast Inn with a great restaurant in a gorgeous Victorian home. We were out on the tip of LI wine tasting and came here for dinner (although I also hear they have a great brunch). We made reservations and were seated at a quaint table in front of the fireplace... the ambiance was beautiful and the romance level was maxed out (this was a very belated bday dinner for me as DH was sick on my real bday and we never got a chance to make it up) anyhow the only thing that may be a big deal to some but was not for us since we aren't too wine snobby is that we had to order 3 bottles of wine before they had one we wanted.

The food was beyond delicious. For apps I had the trio of shrimp and DH had a soup that I don't remember what it was but do remember him loving it. For entrees DH had the filet mignon and I had the pork loin which came with a bacon risotto and we both thoroughly enjoyed because we ate everything on the plate!

For desert we had cappuccinos (which came with the sugar sticks) and the banana bread pudding which had just the right amount of banana flavor and a white chocolate sauce.

Overall it was a great meal and will come back for a special occasion if we are out this way but it was pretty expensive.

I would even recommend looking into staying in a room here because the place looked super cute.

I have to say, I love the Restaurant Week phenomenon that is taking over the world. Students like me can pretend we actually have money and enjoy great restaurant experiences at obscenely low prices. This was how I got the chance to sample Jedediah Hawkins, a beautiful Victorian Inn on the North Fork that has recently been declared a historic monument.

The reason for 4 stars (and not 5) is that the food was good, but not great. Perhaps I've been to too many top restaurants in NYC, but the sophistication in the preparation and the subtle yet surprising flavors weren't there. The service was lovely, and the setting downstairs was beautiful (although the cheesy renditions of "Nights in White Satin" performed by the Elevator Music Orchestra could have been toned down.)

A MUST visit for a romantic, important date. Just needed to throw that in.

Gorgeous setting in an old Victorian home - the restaurant is incredible in almost every detail.

Beautiful parlor when you first walk in, the help is top notch and the food is out of this world.

Pricey, but not really when you taste what they have to offer.

Fine dining, well-executed with top service has come to the North Fork. They also feature many of the local wines.

It's conveniently located in Jamesport, which means all the snoody people from the Hamptons can come up for a great unpretentious meal sampling the greatness of the North Fork, and thankfully turn around and go home.
