So I met a blind date here that I had met on http://Match.com. Â Was looking for a comfortable, clean, cool spot with complimentary lighting and good energy. Â I'm not from Westerville so I was going to chose between Jimmy V's and the Old Bag of Nails. Â It was a saturday night and I found a great spot at the copper top bar for me and my blind date. Â She showed up and was absolutely beautiful and quite engaging. Â We had a great time and there was a really good live band playing. Â Didn't catch their name but the base player had this crazy beard. Â We had a few drinks and went with a couple appetizers to munch on. Â Food was good, drinks were good, vibe was good, lighting was excellent and the cumulative affect was just enchanting for a first date. Â The only down side was the bar tender was so busy that he didn't give us much attention. Â I would have docked this place a star for slow service but the date went so well that I can't deduct. Â
A four star experience for drinks but the evening ended with a five-star kiss!
Thanks Jimmy V's for a great first date venue!
The calamari alone saved this from being a one star review. Â The Greek salad (this is a greek place, right?) was shockingly small for a $7 dinner salad, and there were only two lonely kalamata olives on it; it was a bit overdressed as well. Â I can get a better salad for $2 at Pasquale's across the street. Â I know this is a pub, but the swarthy-mouthed drunkards who were spewing profanity really didn't help my enjoyment. Â As I said, I know it's a bar, but I feel like management should have intervened on behalf of the many children who were present. Â To their credit the calamari was really wonderful and our server was on point. Â I left feeling like it wasn't worth the trouble though.
