all of my co-workers hyped this place to me , maybe that is why it was such a let down. the pizza was not good. the prices for other menu items were too high . seriously a box of pasta is $1.50 i can make this stuff at home. the quality lacks, the portion size stinks, the pizza sucks. the service was okay.

I just read Carl P's review (5/28/2013) and have some additional comments to make.
I've been a loyal customer at Jo-Jo's for probably the past 20+ years.  I have a condo nearby and It's my go to Italian Restaurant during the spring and summer months.
My wife and I were there this past Friday night.

She always orders just Pasta with marinara sauce.  The price is still $10, but the portion was about half the size and no soup or salad was included.
The bread was cold, hard, and lousy.
I had trouble finding something to order on the new menu.  MY first choice was Chicken Parm., but it came with some vegetable like squash and NO SUBSTITUTES WERE ALLOWED.  I wanted to order pasta with eggplant added-----waitress told us that Chef will not change anything on the menu.  Now we know the waitress, and she's been there for years and is very nice and pleasant.
It was made clear that nothing on the menu can be changed.
I had to settle for a deep fried chicken Panini since they took the Grilled chicken Panini off the menu.  I was disappointed with the bread used in the Panini sandwich.

There was a large party of 10-12 seated and left shortly after looking over the menu.
When we finished the meal and went outside, there were customers complaining about the menu, portions, and elimination of soup/salad.

We won't be going back here again.  I honestly don't think that the new Management has a clue about how to run a restaurant.

    NO SUBSTITUTES----Are you kidding me????
If you want to add a side of pasta to your meal, they will charge you $8.00
    I just don't get it.
It's a shame cause they remodeled this place during the spring, and now they are going to lose most of their loyal customers that stuck with them during all these years.

Without a doubt one of the best places in the entire Atlantic City area for lunch and dining. They have daily lunch specials and the waitress Joann is the very best around. We were there for dinner a few days ago and they even had a violin player and singer. The owner was there and he to is a wonderful host. No better value for your money the service and food are great.

Chicken like cardboard. It had a funky taste. The pasta was overlooked. Reminded me of Chef Boyardee. Just plain nasty.

    Main complaint was LOUSY service.
If you don't like people then why would you be  waitress?

Lips was with. Today he was dripping in his Diamonds,, He had his 6 Ct one. Add the Gucci belt and shoes  well again people recognized him! We just wave to the crowds. The paparazzi though is getting more and more but it comes with being Fatty.

Lips started with a clam dish in red sauce. The sauce was banging, not tart a tad sweet. One problem, the clams were so so small.

Lips went for his more manly meal. The Prime Rib. 25 bucks for this classic is a bit high as there is no atmosphere and the service sucks,

Lips got his Prime Rib and the server states my Margarita Pizza is coming right out. I asked Lips to eat his so it would not be cold. He eats and eats. No Pizza, where is my freaken pizza? The server lied it wasn't coming right away, and I was getting more and more upset. The evening was just wasting away.

Finally the pizza comes, I want to toss the pie into her face for lying. I hate rushing through my dinner because it was served so late. I have a slice, it was just eh, ok. Should have had much more basil on it which would have made this choice a winner.

Lips reported his Prime Rib was good. For the money I think it would have come with more than a Potato which Lips reported was not good.

I hated Jo Jo's not so much because of the food but the service sucked. Typical NJ Seashore town. They throw food at ya, over charge and the customer takes it like he is being tea bagged!

I will never understand the crap that constitutes pizza south of New York. This place blows and is super expensive. I'm not sure we have found a good pizza place right in Ventnor, but there sure are some great spots on the AC boardwalk that i'd much rather drive to, grab a pizza, and drive back up atlantic ave.

The pizza here is thick and spongy, and just disgusting. The cheesesteaks have no meat on them and they come with provolone without even asking for it which isn't ideal for us. the fries are soggy.. just a waste of space.

2.5 Honestly. Every time I go I feel like it gets worse. It's one of the only decent pizzas on the island. it's not that good. It's not special, whatsover. It's very pricey for average food. The location is probably the sole reason it's done as well as it has after that fire.

Without the typical Jersey Shore boardwalk, Ventnor has limited options for grabbing food after a day on the beach.

Jo Jo's thankfully has lots of seating, air conditioning, good solid food, and is BYOB.  At least I think it is.  They confirmed that they don't serve alcohol, which we presumed meant we were welcome to BYOB.  Our waitress was really nice, and didn't rush us while we finished our bottle of wine.   Note, there is a liquor store conveniently across the street.

Perfectly serviceable casual down-the-shore Italian restaurant.

On a previous trip, we had strombolis, salads, etc. delivered to the house, and on this trip, we decided to stop in. The previous experience with the stromboli was so good, that I went for the calzone this time. The calzone was massive and made for several meals - though I was a tad disappointed that the prosciutto made such a minor appearance.

Service was cheerful and attentive. Jo Jo's is a family place, friendly for kids and grandparents and everything in between. Looking around at the other tables, it was clear that all the patrons were enjoying their meals.

Jo Jo's is a BYO, with a liquor store across the street, if you want to step it up a notch.

Great place! Before going to Atlantic City, my family always stops in. The pizza is perfect while their other dishes are equally delicious. If I am ever taking the AC bus to/from NYC, I prefer this place to the casino establishments for a decent meal. Gamble away your money on shady prospects, but Jo Jo's is a solid bet for food!

I have hit up Jo Jo's probably once or twice a summer for the last several years.  We usually go for dinner and are seated in the larger dining room.  This most recent time, only the side door was open, and we sat in the smaller, slightly more casual side for lunch.

My mom and I shared the individual-sized bianco pizza and a chicken florentine panini.  They were both pretty good, though the panini was a little dry.  The waitress brought a remekin of marinara on my request, and that turned out to be just what the sandwich needed.

I always enjoy my meal at Jo Jo's.  It will continue to be a staple for my summer trips to Ventnor.
