A couple of weeks ago, I stopped in a little too early to catch the latest band to play here so I ordered some appetizers. Â The appetizer menu is quite extensive, and includes some unique items such as beef toasted ravioli, fried pickles, baked stuffed clamps and bacon wrapped shrimp skewers.
Being that this was an "Irish" pub, I wanted to try something more ethnic, so I ordered the Irish Nachos and Reuben Rolls to share with a friend. Â It took a little extra time to come out so I ordered a $2 pint of Yuengling which I thought was a great deal! Â
The Irish Nachos consisted of home fried potato chips with shredded corned beef, green onions, cheddar cheese and horseradish sauce. Â It looked so good, I had to take a picture! Â It was definitely something to share as I would not have been able to finish it myself. Â My only caution is that the horseradish sauce was so overpowering, that I could not taste the other ingredients. Â If I ever order it again, it will be with sauce to dip the chips rather than coat them.
The Reuben Rolls came highly recommended by our friendly server. Â They look like egg-rolls cut diagonally across and were quite unique in texture. Who ever thought of mixing sauerkraut, corned beef, and Swiss cheese? Â I felt that the corned beef really got lost in the mix so it tasted more like cheesy sauerkraut in a crispy outer later than anything else. Â I did enjoy alternating between the two dipping sauces - thousand island and "bistro" sauce, not knowing which one I liked better.
By the way, the band playing that night was called "Mr. Nice Guy" and I hope they come back soon because they were great!
Overall, I did enjoy trying something new as I always do and I can't wait to come back again and indulge in some of the other unique appetizers offered at this friendly neighborhood pub.
First time here was pretty good. Â Â Great reuben roll appetizers, though a little heavy on the cheese inside--would have like a little more corned beef and 'kraut. Â Husband had the bangers and mash, which would have been good, except for the way-overcooked cabbage. Â My seafood basket was great, even the clam strips which were meaty and not shriveled up as can be the case in other places. Â Fries are homemade and tasty, and the batter on the seafood was nice and crispy. Â The shrimp were especially outstanding. Â Drinks were affordable, service wast fine, and food came out hot. Â We'll be back.
