Jose's Mexican Bar & Grill

I was a bit concerned that we arrived on a Saturday night only to find two other couples (who were finished and left shortly after, leaving Husby and I in the place solo) but I was pleasantly surprised.  Chips/salsa were great, and so was the cheese enchillada I ordered.  Spanish rice/beans equally as good.  Husby ordered the chicken chimichanga and also approved.  We live in Maryland so I was dying for some west coast Mexican food, and was very happy.  Our waiter was cool and a couple mispellings on the menu were cute.  I saw a few locals come in and order food to go and I always find that to be a sign, too.  Next time we're in Monterey, we'd return.

While on a two night getaway to Monterey, the hubby and I checked out Yelp and decided to give Jose's a try.  Food was great (crab enchiladas and chicken enchiladas).  Service was a little slow considering it was a Monday night, but the food made up for it.  Next time we will try the margaritas. They were highly recommended by our server.

This is a cute little Mexican spot. Our server was extremely nice she went above and beyond. Couldn't decide between the crab enchilada and the fish taco so she created a "special" combo so that I could have both. The chips and salsa were very good and authentic. The dinner was just ok, hence the four stars.
