  Please tell me that not all Texas steaks are this awful!  My husband and I rolled through here during a recent cross country trip.  He always wanted to try a Texas steak as that is one of the many things Texas is known for.
  
  He ordered a rib eye, expecting something juicy and flavorful.  Instead what he got was a tasteless piece of shoe leather.  So disappointing!!!
  
  On the flip side, the beef stew I had was quite good.  The salad bar was basically adequate.  Service was "meh" - not rude but not friendly either.
  
  I am still trying to understand why this place was full.

  I've eaten here several times, but I have to say that the customer service on the phone is the worst. My fiancee wanted to hold our rehearsal dinner here, but they have yet to send us a menu so that we can choose some menu items. I would like to note that we requested them to send this to us well before Labor Day. When my future MIL contacted them again to say that we haven't received the fax, they informed her that it was "on the list and they would get to it." A fax takes literally less than 5 minutes. I have no idea what is so important in Childress, TX that they can't send a fax to us! Not impressed!

  A steakhouse with a great salad bar and consistent flavor.
  
  A favorite of the locals and travelers alike. They have a good selection of steaks that are cut in house (exception: T-Bone), The staff has been there for years so you can usually count on good service unless someone is just having a bad day. The salad "wagon" is always fresh and is replenished at the top of every hour.
  
  4 stars for Childress in the city it would probably be a 3 star.

  We did not eat here, and simply because the menu lacked anything that wasn't fried. The salad bar looked fresh, but the staff was rude and did not like the fact that we asked to look at the menu before we decided to eat there.
  
  I'd skip it if you are just driving through.

  we stopped through here going and coming back from kansas.  it was close to a "halfway" point between austin and where we were going.  
  
  i'm not a super picky person.  obviously, if we ate here twice on one trip. it was not bad by any measure.  
  
  the salad bar on the wagon seemed fresh.  my crew enjoyed the cucumber salad.  the 2nd time we went there though some of the same items that were there previously were missing.  
  
  our meal arrived before we ever finished our salad!  my steak was cooked just as i ordered it and it tasted really good.  everyone in my group seemed to like what they got as well.  
  
  we had the same server both times, and while she was kind of scripted and sing-songy in her approach, she was attentive and pleasant.  
  
  it's childress, so i'm not gonna give it 4 or 5 stars, but i would recommend it to anyone i knew i driving through there.  =)
  
  oh, they are closed on mondays i noticed.

  In Childress, our dining options are rather limited.  So I feel my rating of restaurants here is graded on a curve.  If I was elsewhere, I'd give this place a 2 star, but because we are in Childress, I give it an extra star.
  
  Food is mediocre at best.  Not a ton of variety.  Everything is fried.  When I order the only non-fried option - grilled chicken - it is void of flavor.  It often takes a lot of time to get my coke refills but perhaps that is due to them being super busy when I go.  Yet, most of my friends in town like this place so I'll keep coming back.
