Kahuna's Sports Bar & Grill

I have been here multiple times and I would have to say it is not a bad E club bar. Every night there is some sort of special and I would highly recommend taco Tuesday. There are chicken, beef, and pork tacos that cost 2 dollars each and they are fantastic, although the last time I went the pork was really dry. DO NOT even bother getting soft tacos. Lame. The crispy ones are the best tacos on the planet so I am not sure why anybody would have it any other way.

There also is pool, music videos (although I'm not quite sure where there music choices derive from... the last time I was there it was a series of JLO), and waiter service. they also do not charge a cover during fights or other pay per view events.

It was late one night, and we had no food in the lodge so we decided to mozie on over to Kahunas since nothing else in Kaheohe/Kailua is open past 2100!

Parking: that should never be an issue, plenty of parking!

Seating/decor: For a Friday night there was a lot of seating at the tables. the bar was populated but there were seats there too. The decor is a cross between really bad 90's/dive bar/ and trying too hard. There was obviously not a lot of thought put into it at all. It looks extremely tacky and I feel that if this is where all our single service members are hanging out, this needs to be fixed so it looks like a cool chill spot. We should call restaurant impossible or something!

Service: Our server was nice, and she did a good job with checking on us and refilling our water/drinks.

Food: Here is where my 2 star rating really comes into play.
We ordered the onion rings as our appetizer, and then I ordered the Mushroom and swiss burger while my hubby got the hangover burger.

Onion rings: good, 3 stars and i'd order them again. Didn't like the sauce that they came with, they were already seasoned enough that you didn't need it.

M&S burger: I'm NOT a fan of that super grilled taste, and that is all I tasted when I bit into this burger. The meat seemed over cooked and it was truly nothing special. The fries were even a little tooo salty for my taste and I love salt. I ended up not finishing my meal, which rarely happens.

Hang over burger: There was a sunny side up egg with runny yolk on my husbands burger and even though it looked good, he said it was nothing special. And it smelled like it had the same "uncleaned grill" patty going on. Husband who is a pretty good eater also did not finish the fries. Both portions were big, but that doesn't matter if the foods not that good.

Kahuna Brownie Sundae
Not sure if they're making the brownies in house but this was the highlight (if you can call it that) of my trip to Kahunas. The Brownie was topped with a giant scoop of vanilla and then drizzled with chocolate, oreos and rainbow sprinkles. Not the best dessert i've ever had but it was good.

Overall, i'd come back if someone REALLY wanted to go here, but i'd rather just drive off base to get some real food for the same price or even cheaper.

I would definitely say I am regular at Kahuna's. I come at least once a week for lunch and occasionally for dinner. What I really like about this place is the wide selection (menu was just revamped too!)  as well the daily specials. My favorite "special" days are Tuesdays for the Tacos and Thursdays with the $6, $7, and $8 combos.

Kahuna's is closed on Sundays but open the rest of the week for lunch, dinner, and semi-late night drinks (usually midnight but sometimes later). Its also usually open for ufc fights and other major sporting events with no cover charge. Just make sure you show up early enough to grab a good seat!
