    Winner winner chicken dinner!

Bloomington has it good in the KFC department. Not one but two wonderfully appointed (read: recently remodeled) KFC restaurants to choose from.

I went to this one and had a pot pie and 5 "hot wings"... and then they sold me a chocolate cake for like $4. Fantastic. It's a little odd to see the Colonel's face on "everything but the floor" as my kids put it, but hey....the man's a legend with the secret spices and what not.

The staff here was really nice to us and they did not seem to be short handed during our visit. I will probably be back for another delicious pot pie but I have a feeling it is loaded with sodium or something else that will slow-kill me since it tastes great.

Kind of wish they served alcohol. As it is you have to bring your own in a flask or something. ;)

I generally don't write reviews for fast-food places because who has high expectations for fast food? Certainly not I. Yet some places suck so hard it must be documented. Now, unlike the previous reviewer, I realize I'm in Southern Indiana and that all types and classes of people live in Southern Indiana and I'm cool with that. What I have in common with the previous reviewer, however, is that I wholeheartedly believe the Health Department really should check this place out.

I came here yesterday with my parents (who chose the restaurant, as I have not elected of my own volition to enter a KFC since the chain was still officially called Kentucky Fried Chicken), and everything about our experience was awful.

First, the place appeared to be understaffed. It wasn't even busy and we waited maybe 8 minutes to get our food, which in fast-food time is like an hour. The worst part is that we saw the worker put our food on a tray and walk away, so those 8 minutes were spent watching our food sit on an unreachable counter and get cold.

And, oh, how cold it was! The sides were disgustingly congealed by the time we got them and the chicken was barely at room temperature. I ordered a sandwich and the bun was freezing, stale and hard as a rock. I realized this before I even put it in my mouth and I'd imagine that the person assembling the sandwich could have as well, if he or she gave a damn.

I returned to the counter with my full sandwich so that I could complain and perhaps order another (or something else). I stood there for about 6 minutes and none of the few workers there acknowledged me in any way. Frustrated, I returned to the table, removed the top bun, and ate the "sandwich" against my better judgment. It was pretty nasty.

I did get a chance to mention these slights to the manager, who was a tiny gal who looked no more than 13 years old. To her credit, she threw out the stale buns and did offer me another meal, but having seen/tasted the food there, I was not interested in eating anything else prepared there.

That we escaped with no evidence of food poisoning seems miraculous.
