The Keys

The Keys, in my estimation has the best vibe of any bar in NEPA. They always have an impeccably clean barroom, it's non smoking, and is run by one of the kindest,most generous people I've ever met. It is also a place that is a great friend to the live music scene. As a musician & a patron I couldn't give Jenn & the rest of the staff higher praise. Keep up the good work!

The best bang for the buck in NEPA

The Keys is an eclectic local bar with friendly atmosphere and a splash of that warm weather feeling that lasts all year. From burgers to tacos, they serve very simple fair with great attention to quality and value. Located at 244 Penn Avenue in, Scranton PA it is the biggest bang for your buck in NEPA

Jen the owner, the bartender and chief bottle washer extraordinaire is a gracious friendly host who will always greet you with a smile and a run down of the daily specials. There are a variety of beer choices on tap that changes regularly and reflect Jen's passion for delicious quality brew at reasonable prices. There is always a special that is sure to please. And yes her recommendations are all from first hand knowledge and spot on.

On my most recent visit I was encouraged to try their signature stuffed hamburger. Jen describe the process for their burger as such: "We prepare fresh lightly season ground beef, roll them into balls and keep them chilled patiently waiting for the customers' order. The customer chooses their order by circling their choice on little menu cards." "Choose between turkey, beef or veggie, then stuff it with your choice of bacon, cheese (American, Swiss, Blue Cheese, or Cheddar), onions, jalapenos or mushrooms, top it off with mustard, mayo, ketchup, BBQ, lettuce or tomato. We then pack the ingredients between two patties and cook to order and serve with chips and a pickle!"

The expression OMG just does not do the burger justice. The explosion of flavor from the first bite is over the top. Delicious ingredients suspended in molten cheese between two patties, it is so good it is almost indescribable. DO NOT wolf this down even if you are starving, savor every bite and enjoy the taste as long as possible. At $5.00 it is the best deal going. Forget fast food or any other burger joint, life is too short to waste on overpriced mediocre food. Do not ask for fries because "they don't do fries."

The best bar in Scranton. Great mix of people who frequent it and great live bands. Drinks are cheap, the bouncers are not dicks, and the bartenders (especially Jenn) are the best in Scranton.
