Nice little bar in a strip mall behind Polaris. Â The wait staff has been good the few times I've been there. The hot wings are actually hot. Â Hot enough to make me sweat a little.
Chris Logsdon plays there on Thursday evenings. Â If you are not familiar with Chris, you should be, he is a Columbus tradition. Â Acoustic guitar and all the popular songs you love to sing a long with from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
The place gets crowded after work on a Friday. There are a lot of Chase people in the area, so most places are packed after work on a Friday.
We went here before our movie at the Rave next door. I knew what to expect at this place but I was surprised to be the only one there for lunch... the two alcoholics at the bar chatting up the bartender/waitress (she was the only one working besides the cook) dont really count. She took our order quickly after we sat ourselves; I got the Po Boy shrimp wrap and my hubby got the rueben. We order some cheese fries (comes with bacon bits and pieces of jalepano's (mildest jal. ever! ...by the way) and a side of sour cream) and 2 Guiness ($5 for a small..kind of a rip off. We thought we were getting larger glasses..). The beer came right out....which was my first red flag. Anyone who knows Guiness would know that it needs to settle before you top it off again ....then it settles again and then you can drink it. She poured it the wrong way and brought it straight out to us. We let it settle and ...lets just say...she got really lucky since it was fresh. We've been to the factory over in Dublin (not Ohio...the real Dublin lol) and learned the whole shpeal about how to pour it...yada yada... turns out theirs this whole to-do about the right vs wrong way and bars are under strict rules if they sell it. This bar obviously doesnt take it seriously. It shows in the flavor...bitter = wrong.
Either way the fries were good dispite the bad beer.. I let it go since it was fresh right? The jalepanos on the fries were hard to come by and far from 'hot', which i guess to most people is a good thing...??? We were disapointed to say the least.
My husband didnt like his rueben. The horshradish sauce killed the taste...it tasted more like ....well...bland pasty sauce. Not a bright idea to dump it on his sandwhich without trying it first but either way...it bombed. The sandwich as a whole was ok. The kraut was "weird" he says. He really seemed to like the chips though; a house specialy. They looked rather over cooked to me.
My Po Boy was fantastic, with fresh tomatoes (not even a little gooey!) and shredded lettuce (thank goodess it was washed..and dried. It seems many places over look that basic foodie must) and the shrimp were lightly fried on a wonderfully fresh wrap. I was in num bliss..that is until I noticed the shrimp werent even cleaned properly. I wouldnt go so far as to calling myself a germaphobe...actually far from it. I have very fond memories as a child making mud pies in the backyard with my guy friends and then using dump trucks as hauling devices....clearly a tom boy, yes I'll proudly admit to my non-girly ways (I'm proud damit!!) But I have an issue with unclean food. That goes for things as simple as uncleans lettuce, mussels not being rinsed (who likes sandy mussels!?), and shrimp that wasnt de-veined. Now I know some people think that the black vien on top is "just a vein" and some just think it's normal, but its not. Beisdes making the shrimp gritty in taste it also its sanitary. Some lower end food places wont clean shrimp unless their of the larger sizes; they think theyre just too small for people to notice. Well.....I DID!
I would have given you 3 stars if this SIMPLE sanitation step wasnt over looked.
Im sad for you, I really am. I was ready to come back time & time again for this yummy wrap...if only you valued your customers taste bud enough to think we would notice gritty uncleaned shrimp. I dont like eating poop....case & point ...thank you very much
The Stone has been me and my bro's place to do weekly lunch at for the past year. I decided to hit them up for some lunch today and a lil March Madness sans my brother. The place was quickly filling up for lunch and I was glad to score a seat at the bar.
As usual I was quickly greeted and scored my drink and my Buzztime trivia box and was ready for some good eats. I gave the Nathans Slawdog a try, a big ol' beefy Nathans on a pretzle roll with plenty of tasty coleslaw, a big heaping mound of steak fries and a dill pickle spear. It was so messy but, oh so good and even with the lunchtime/madness crowd I got my order in less than 10 mins, SCORE!
With the good weather here early the patio is open now but offically opens this St. Pat's weekend and is a great place to score someting cold to drink before or after a moobie at the Rave. The ladies behind the bar here do a great job of making everyone feel welcome and pretty darn good pub grub.
Keystone is nothing really to write home about. It's a nice place, though. They offer good drinks and a comfortable atmosphere. You can hang out here while waiting for a movie time too as it's located right next to the Rave movie theater. I've been here a few times and done just that.
Keystone also supports Ohio State and shows games. The food's pretty good and nice for a snack or a meal. I like the chicken sandwich at Keystone. The bar is also fully-stocked with cold drafts and the bartenders are helpful. It's not too noisy, at least not when I've been there. It could be on game days, though. I usually don't stick around for those, I'm often at another venue.
We went here because we had a coupon from http://restaurant.com and found out it is the same owner and same menu as the Hamilton Pub in Gahanna which we had just been to at lunch. That already dampend the mood but we decided to give it a try. I had the pub salad which was good and the lil chicken which was a chicken burger with loads of yummy bacon and unfortunatly fake american cheese slices. The fries were way better at Hamilton pub, these were plain and salty. We had a Calzone which was very greasy and small for $10, no dough and the provolone cheese was also rather fake. Overall fine but nothing special, if they want to compete with the overfilled food options at Polaris they will have to step it up a notch to get noticed.
Review Source:This place has grown on me - Everytime I go up to CBus - I usually stop by and have a few drinks. Â
I enjoy the selections, drinks, atmosphere. Â They have a really large outdoor patio where you have the opportunity to watch all the movie goers pass by ... You know half the people wish they were at the Keystone Pub :-)
This pub is wonderful! Â Not only is the food fresh and creative, the beers are icy cold. Â Even the decor is cool- the actual bar is made with barrels from the Jim Beam distillery! Â Outside patio bar is great in the summer.
Thank God there is a place near Polaris that is not a run-of-the mill chain restaurant/bar. Â I give this 5 stars!
Nothing special - it's a bar next to the theatre. A mix of the older crowd in a dark room, where they all get drunk and left me be to witness. The food is nothing special, the beers are limited (and mostly domestic).
Not a bad joint, just not a place that screams "you want to be here."
