I simply love everything about this restaurant and I am frequent customer. Â I eat at khourys cuisine about every other week and try something new on the me menu each time and let me tell you nearly everything i have ordered on the menu is soooooo delicious. Â However it's hard for me to try other items on the menu bc the gyro special is just too good and I order it all the time. The gyro special comes with fries and these fries are the best tasting fries I've ever had. Â They are way better than any fries from a fast food restaurant by a landslide. Â Also the service is great and the place is very clean and neat. Â I highly recommend this place for Greek and American food such as the Amazing Philly cheesesteak along with delicious desserts too. Â This is probably my favorite restaurant in peoria next to avantis.
Review Source:Classic gyro joint on busy University St in Peoria. Â Dining room is clean and spacious. Â Service is fast and not overly friendly. Â Gyro combo will be plenty of tasty eats for the average eater for $7. Â Try the Super Duper Gyro if you're looking for a little more. Â Meat is of the Khronos brand--a popular gyro meat purveyor--well seasoned and sliced just right. Â Fries are crispy. Â There's a few non-Mediterranean items on the menu for your picky-ass coworkers: chicken fingers, wings, pork tenderloin sandwich, and hot dogs. Â Good lunchtime alternative to McDonald's or Burger King.
Review Source:We have been regulars at Khoury's and have enjoyed the food. Unfortunately we had a bad experience today that will influence our future decisions to eat there and/or recommend Khoury's to our friends. We had purchased a Voucher through HeartlandDailyDeals/PJ Star for $8 for $16 in food. We went to have lunch and were informed that we couldn't use it to get the Gyro Special when the voucher says may not be used with any other promotion ( we read this to mean no other coupons along with the offer). We were informed that we had to buy a gyro, fries and a drink separately which came to $2 more.
After we agreed to buy everything ala carte, she took the voucher and said "After all this talk, it's expired anyway". By 4 days. I explained I had surgery and we weren't able to get there before now, and that they had been paid the money, it wasn't like a regular coupon - we bought this offer for cash. She would not relent and honor the voucher.
Being in a business that deals with the public myself, I certainly would never treat a customer that way and knowing that we are regulars or were...they certainly lost more than todays lunch...we will never go back which will cost them close to $30 a month we spent at their establishment not to mention the friends we've taken there.
Too bad.
Finally! Â A quick and inexpensive place in Peoria that I will actually want to go to a second time. Â As far as Peoria fare goes, this place is awesome! Â I've already tried at least 2 other restaurants in the area that are known for gyros and they weren't good. Â Here, the gyros had a nice soft pita, plenty of meat, and a great tzatziki sauce. Â The fries were also tasty- fresh and very crispy. Â And don't forget the baklava for dessert...I really enjoyed it as it had more substance and wasn't sickly sweet as some others I've tried. Â The portion size is what you'd expect for gyros- you definitely won't be leaving hungry.
I'll be sure to come here again as it's the only place in Peoria that I recommend going to for gyros!
Good enough Greek/Mediterrenean food. Â I wasn't impressed by their menu, pretty standard food you would expect from this type of place. Â I got the falafel sandwich and it was good, I didn't like the bread it came in, next time I think I will request a pita. Â The humus was ok too, a little too dry for me. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was blah, the meat may have been cooked a little too much bc it was also a little dry and their wasn't enough cheese. Â
However, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Â I had questions about the desserts available and she stood there and answered all of my questions. Â Baklava was delicious! Â Very sweet, just how I like it! Â
I will give it another try because I want to like this place - I am all for supporting locally owned family businesses. Â Who knows, maybe I'll find something I will like!
This is a friendly, family-run place with DELICIOUS gyros! I have gone here for years with family. It's a clean, comfortable place to eat. If you have never tried a gyro, this would be the place to get a delicious, fresh first taste. If you are a gyro lover and have never been here, now is the time to try it! I have never heard any complaints about this place. It's just that good.
Review Source:I never had a tenderloin on a bun. It was so awesome I took a picture before eating it. Lol
This is how all things that come on a bun should look like and eating the meat then the bun is a +
I'm coming back here when I come back to visit family here in Peoria.
Its too bad we don't have this type of quality out here in L.A.
The staff is friendly too.
See you soon.
Do you guys deliver to Los Angeles??? Â Lol so good :)
I absolutely love this place. Â Maybe it's the fact that you can get traditional Mid-East food like falafel or grape leaves or go for fried mac & cheese. Â I usually get the falafel with french fries. Â
It's a small, casual restaurant and the parking can get rough, but if you're looking for a nice alternative to typical fast food, I suggest giving it a try.
