This place was nice. Nice, clean place with tv surrounding the place. Walked in, got a table in front of the patio and the bigger tv. The patio looked nice. Maybe if I could stand the mugginess Houston had to offer that day, then I'd prob be out there. I got a burger and it was pretty huge but mediocre. Good, but noting fantastic. Good beer selection, crowd is..older than me. ahah. Chill place. I'd come back to chill in the patio and the beer.
Review Source:This place lived up to my expectations from reading the reviews. Â Yes, it's a pub with an older crowd (30's and up, maybe?), and they have a delicious menu.
I got the cajun chicken pasta and was so impressed. Â It had andouille sausage, chicken, scallions, tomatoes, white wine, etc. Â They sold me on "scallions and white wine"...those ingredients told me this wouldn't be a sloppy bar dish, but rather, sophisticated. Â I enjoyed every bite, and used the toasty garlic bread to scrape up the sauce remnants.
My husband had the fish and chips, and they were really good too. Â If you want something fried, that's the total package. Â The fries are seasoned well.
Our waiter was very friendly and memorized our names (even remembered them). Â The place was full, but service was pretty consistent. Â
It looks like it's just some bar in a strip mall out in the burbs, but it's a good place to sneak away to for a surprisingly delicious meal.
This is my favorite place near home. It isnt a sports bar, it isnt restaurant, or a dance hall. It's a pub and a proper one at that. Great tap selection for the general population of the upper 20s-40 year olds that come here (craft fiends stay clear, unless you're willing to relax from your standards).
I initally laughed at the patio when I saw it, but after coming here over the last year, it is quant enough to forget your suburban surroundings. The food, I know I said it isnt a restaurant, is a on the salty side, but the cuban sandwich is respectable for a late dinner choice.
Out of everything in the Champions/Far NW Houston/Cypress corridor, this is my favorite chill spot. No bs, no idiots (except the acceptable sports fanatics), and a great staff you can chill out with.
Ask for Kelsey. She's the best.
I really love this place! Â Fridays and Saturdays carry a bit of a crowd - weekdays and Sundays are really chill
Pros:
Gorgeous interior
Wonderful food
Nice selection of beer and wine
Great patio
No smoking allowed inside (could be a con for you nasty smokers)
Live music on the weekend (JB Barnett is the absolute best!)
They have a nice little room up front that I'm sure could be reserved for parties
Cons:
If you don't sit at the bar, service could be a little slow because it's more of a cocktail waiter/waitress scenario - but just holler at 'em and they're more than happy to help you out!
Bonus points for carrying Fuller's ESB!
Good food and the only place I've found around North Houston that serves Harp Lager on tap...nectar of the Gods.
Seriously, this is an upscale grille and bar, located around Grant Rd and Louetta, in NW Houston.
More for the white-collar crowd but it can be fun for all groups.
Food is pretty good and they have a good selection of liquors to choose from.
They get 4 stars from me because of the aforementioned Harp Lager on tap
Interesting place. New bar/grill for the Cypress folk. It's a good change from BWW's.
But it's not a very large restaurant. And because it's not very big, it can get very loud on game nights (and when isn't a game on?!). I was literally yelling at my aunt and she was yelling at me just so we could hear each other speak.
The menu is not impressive. It's small, not much to choose from. Burgers, appetizers, chicken tenders, fish and chips, etc. Things like that, not much more. I had the chicken tenders (that didn't come with fries) and my aunt had the fish and chips. Both were very delicious and freshly made. I would definitely recommend either dish.
I don't know if I'll go back to Kilburn's but it is a fun atmosphere on game nights!
Our go-to place when we can't decide where else have dinner and drinks, or just drinks. Kilburn's has great nachos, burgers, steaks, fish and chips. Everything I have had here is delicious and fresh. I would like more vegetarian choices, however.
Middle to middle upper class grown up crowd but not snobby crowd. Â I've never seen trash here nor loud cursing patrons.
Large patio where you can fumar. Â Giant fans to keep you cool.
Small-ish pub, dark decor. Â
They have a giant Jenga on the patio. Live music on the weekends.
The constables are right down the block so don't even think about drinking too much and driving.
UPDATE:::
It pains me to say this, but the last few times we have been here, the waitresses act like they couldn't care less about us as diners. Â She was not friendly at all. Â She acted like she hated her job. Â When we finished our meal which was same always, (pretty good!), hubby and I were talking about getting another drink, and maybe even a dessert. Â The waitress came and practically threw our check at us.. after she left, Â I looked at my husband and said sarcastically "No thanks, I don't want another drink or a dessert". Â It bothered my husband so much he didn't want to go there last night for a drink....we went someplace else.
A really good neighborhood pub and eatery. Â Very nice insides, lots of dark wood which I like. Â
they have a nice outside patio so I plan to hit this place again in October and November.
This is a real pub and eatery. Â Not like a Benigans wanted to be at all. The food is top quality and everyone in our big party really like their food. Â I ate a few of the french fries from someone else's plate, and oh were they very, very good.
Several of the people got the fish and chips. Â Looked great, and was a ton of food.
Definately worth the try if you are in the area, and if you live in the area, no doubt you will continue to return.
The place was very packed when we were there on a Wednesday evening. Â Wait staff handled the tables very well.
Of all the bars in the Cypress area, this is one of the most grown up bars, by that token, it's also one of the most hoity-toity. I have negative and positive things say....
The first time I went here, there was hardly anyone here...it was stuffy inside and I felt like I was in some other town completely. The prices on wine weren't that great and I felt bored with the atmosphere.
The second time I went, it was Christmas Eve, Eve. It was jam packed. I could hardly make it from the front door the the back patio. There was live music playing which was way too loud. I was trying to talk to high school friends I haven't seen in 9 years, I ended up having to hang out on the back patio.
This is the redeeming quality of Kilburn's. That back patio is nice. Lots of places to sit, several heaters, a fire place, and a feeling like you've found a secret place. The bathrooms were clean, nice, and even though it was really crowded, no line.
Another plus? No smoking inside. I love bars that I can breathe in! Which is why I think they have two really cool patios. I'd come back here for sure. I'm sure if I try it again with friends on a night when it's not as crowded, I might find it's one of the better bars in the area, but as of right now, it's a 3 star bar.
Houston. Strange place. Land of the car and the strip mall.
Thankfully, mixed into some of said strip malls are places like Kilburn's Tavern and Grille which feature a decent array of beers for you to enjoy while hiding out in the air conditioning.
On the night we were here, a Houston singles group was having an event and I kept getting eyed by older-than-cougar-cougars who, I suspect, were looking to see if I had a name tag. Sorry, ladies. I'm just here for the brew.
The bar is comprised of dark woods, low lights and a few random TV screens around including one large projection screen at the far end of the bar. Below that is a stage where the local-flavor-acoustic-act of the given night will belt out John Mayer song after John Mayer song with nary the amount of technical proficiency as the originator. Not a bad spot for a beer, especially if you're way the hell out where it's located.
Had lunch with my dad here on a Friday around 3:00...service was REALLY slow and the food was good. Really not my kind of place since it revolves around the bar. It seemed there was only one waitress waiting on the couple of tables...she was too busy talking to people at the bar to see if our food came out ok. Â I had to walk past her and ask the bartender for what we needed. He was nice about it and the waitress didn't come back until it was time to bring the check. I had the chicdken sandwich and my dad had a Burger which they deem 'the best Burger in Houston.' Â My dad said it was good, but it wouldn't make him come back...I felt the same about my sandwich. Â This is definitely a placed geared toward being a bar...if you're looking to drink it's probably a place to try out.
Review Source:Very clean, comfortable "pubby" atmosphere. Good, not great, eclectic beer (draft and bottle) and wine selection, but it's a pub so you're probably ordering Guiness, right? The food was good. I had the crab cakes and my daughter the fish and chips, so I sampled. There were some other things on the menu I'd like to try. If I'm in the neighborhood again I'll return.
Review Source:their fish and chips here are to die for. Â Just like the real fish and chips in the UK. Â Nice, crunchy and flaky so delicious. Â
It doesn't taste like the fish have be been sitting in a bag frozen...
This stuff is good.. a great place to watch my races, thanks to
Dan, Brett, Carl and Dave!
Only have had appetizers here and I was not disappointed. The rest of the menu looks interesting and other patrons I have met there have nothing but good things to say. Cool hang out for a few casual beers. Good ambience/tavern feel, especially the lounge area. Service is good and friendly. Live bands play on weekends/events to keep it lively. Has a small patio in front with a larger one in the back. Has become one of my favorite hang outs.
