i consider killarneys a home-away-from-home... i've frequented the bar countless times over the last few years- various times of day, days of the week, etc. always pleasant bouncers and bartenders. the owners make everyone feel welcome, and it's hard to avoid becoming a regular.
the drinks are good and fairly priced- always something new to try, too. this is one of the few bars i've come across that has spicebox (my fave)! there are daily food, beer and shot specials, and there are a variety of beers on tap.
food-wise, it's typical irish-pub-bar-food... but it's consistently yummy. the burgers are spot-on (they've even won the burger mania cookoff a few times), and the cajun chicken nachos are amazing. the wings are good too, with a variety of sauces you can play around with. my other fave is the steak qusadilla- never a disappointment. i also love that they've added edamame to the appetizer menu- finally a healthier alternative to snack on!
kills is a great place to hang out and watch a game (or 3)... they have a bunch of tvs, and beer towers at great prices. it tends to get crowded on thurs, fri, and sat nights- live music and beverage promos too. weekends in the summer tend to be a little slower because so many people go down the shore... but it's hands down the best hang-out bar in the hamilton area.
overall, killarneys wouldn't be my number one pick for a classy dinner date or fine dining experience but if i'm needing a night to hang out with some good people, some good drinks, and delicious bar food, then you can find me there.
ps- they've recently built and opened an outdoor seating area out back!
I have never eaten here, this review is strictly for the "nightlife". I have come on a few Friday and Saturday nights and it's your typical Irish bar. This is a place where a lot of locals come to hang out. I have seen a band here on occasion. They have drink cheap drink specials so if I don't want to go out and spend a lot of money I'll come here. The parking lot is always full so there are obviously people that enjoy this place.
Review Source:I went on a date and we decided to have a late lunch/ early dinner at Killarney's. When we arrived the pub was empty aside from a few scattered tables near the bar. I had never been to Killarney's even though I had watched it come up years and years ago and witness their parking lot fill up to capacity every thursday and friday night.
My date told me that their food is pretty good and it's nice but that sometimes their food is a big hit or miss. Our waitress was extremely friendly and sweet and worked her butt off so I was compelled to leave her a $30 tip. About 20 minutes into our date, a large party for some charity trickled in and immediately filled up the tiny space with a lot of noise (bag pipes and singing and just chatter). We went from having a nice and quiet meal with decent conversation into just staring at the festivities and trying to talk over loudspeakers. Don't order their mixed drinks, they are kind of expensive and watered down. They have a decent beer selection. Despite how crowded he pub got our waitress never looked overly flustered and never disappeared and left us unattended and in need. I ordered the Shrimp platter and it was delicious even though the buffalo shrimp was slightly overcooked. It consisted of Buffalo Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Beer battered shrimp and shoestring potato wrapped shrimp. Ask for a lot of the sweet and sour sauce they give you. I don't know if I will be going back as I don't really think their menu suits me or that the establishment is really my vibe but I would recommend to anyone who likes Pseudo- Irish pubs.
I love this place! Everytime i visit from out of town i go to killarneys. They have great irish food and good beers. i really like the fish and chips a ton. The prices are totally fair and the service is good. If you are looking for gourmet food  and fine dining then this isnt your place. But if you want a fun casual friendly environment with yummy irish food and just kick back with friends and hang out then this is your place. they always recognize me when i go in are always friendly and greet you with a smile. it also makes me happy to know i'm supporting a local small business. Happy eating!
Review Source:I've been to this bar several times now and I really can't find much nice to say about this place. The food is substandard (you'd be better off at Applebee's or something... yeah it's that bad). The beer selection is mediocre at best. The bands are way too loud for the space, and it doesn't at all seem like a place you should or would be rocking out to cover bands... but still preferable to the jukebox unless hearing 10 Rihanna songs in a row is your cup of tea. The service has been decent, which is one of the few plus sides (and the drink prices aren't bad at all... but comparable to other bars in the area so that isn't saying much). As for the crowd, apparently this place is the local police hangout... and the local cops that go there are apparently tools... so you'll be surrounded by a bunch of guys in their mid-20s with an undeserved air of superiority + lots of other groups who are there generally "douching up the place" south jersey style. No thanks. Do yourself a favor and go to Dublin Square in Bordentown for an irish bar experience in this neck of the woods. Superior food, drink selection, and atmosphere.
Review Source:Best Wings Ever!!!!!!!! I have to tell you that these were the best wings I've ever had in my life. They were crisp, exactly as spicy as I wanted them to be, and juicy. you have to try them. My mouth is watering just thinking about them now lol.
Honey garlic parmesan cajun wings try them....
Killarney's Publik House is a crowd friendly and family friendly bar with excellent service to match a great menu. Killarney's possesses the ability to take a standard item such as a hamburger and transform it into, The One Tasty Burger, a specialty item that happens to be the 4 time winner of the public vote contest at BurgerMania. It's the originality of their non-traditional menu items such as the Irish Breakfast and the Irish Curry chicken wings that separates Killarney's from your typical local pub. They obviously are able to pour the 119.5 seconds perfect pint of Guinness that most of us come to enjoy but their wide variety of shots deserve compliments as well if you are looking to turn happy hour into an epic night. I don't ever come to Killarney's without the highest expectations of great time and I have yet to be disappointed. If you want a Sheppard's pie and a cold stout or a night out with a couple friends looking for a good time, Killarney's is my pub of choice.
Review Source:I've been there several times. Â I still keep going back for more. Â The One Tasty Burger and the Guiness (of course) are delicious. Â Try the Cajun Chicken Tacos too, they're really good! Â Their new menu really has something for everyone. Â On our last experience, Sara was our server, and she was really attentive and made the suggestion for the Cajun Chicken Tacos. Â Thanks for the suggestion Sara! Â The owner was really polite on our last visit he 'table touched'. Â They made sure the food, drink and service was all good... and of course, it was! Â
I recommend going here even on the off-hours, as a good experience is sure to be had.
Being a native of Hamilton, I'm well aware of the dearth of bars to hang out. in. This has become the default for me and my group of friends. It's a basic pub, they've got decent food (just tried the cajun chicken nachos - surprisingly good!, garlic spuds are yummy) but nothing really to write home about. I generally go on weekends, before 11pm - by the time I leave, the younger crowd has started to filter in.
The service is, unfortunately, hit or miss. I've had evenings where the service was excellent - there's a huge difference between being a nuisance, being a good server and being negligent. In the past 3 times I've been there, it's been 2 not so great and 1 great server. The last time I was there, just over a week ago, I got prison town roadhouse service - totally off-putting. The employees seem to turnover pretty quickly - familiar faces are rare.
All in all, a standard neighborhood bar, but nothing spectacular.
Also, note to the owners if you read this: The sign under the open window is not deterring smokers from standing there.... perhaps someone should try to enforce that?
It's supposed to be an Irish pub and thats just what it is. Â Its pub fare, a few items of which are very Irish. Â The beer selection is sparse but is sure to include some stout and red. Â We were a party of two and had our sides mixed up by the waitress, but to make it up to us she gave us a free coors t-shirt and cap, so I bumped them up from a 3 to a 4 star.
Review Source:This place is a confusion. Â The service depends on the day of the week, and I need consistency to recommend a place. Â During the week it's not so bad. Â The place has a nice amount of people in it, and okay service. Â Food is just typical bar food, nothing is good, just stuff to soak up the booze. Â On the weekends I'd rather sit home then go there. Â It gets uncomfortably packed with no where to sit, and the service is horrible! Â I had a table with some friends and still waited an hour just to get our drinks ordered. Â The waitresses and bartenders do not work in a timely fashion at all. Â If you want to go after work for a happy hour or a night during the week, it's just a regular pub, cool place, but the weekends are just ridiculous, definitly not worth my time.
Review Source:We're always looking for someplace to go around here (Mercer County, Lawrenceville) that is a decent place to get a burger and a draught beer. Believe it or not, it's a rather tall order in this neck of the woods.
Killarney's seems to fit the bill. It is a bit off the beaten path on Whitehorse-Mercer road, along a somewhat deserted-feeling patch. But once you're inside, it seems as though this older (1950s-60s?) bar has been recently cleaned up and redecorated with care.
There is plenty of table seating, which we headed for (plenty of folks at the bar, though, having a funny back-and-forth with the women who were bartending). We showed up on a Monday night around 7PM and things were very mellow. Prompt, friendly service at the tables.
Pint of Smithwicks and Jameson on the rocks for me, Magic Hat for the wife. They have a nice draught selection, and serve Jameson in nifty tall glasses that I hadn't seen before.
Started with the wings, set to mild. Too mild for my taste, I'd do hot next time - but they were tasty and not soggy or rubbery (a frequent complaint of mine about wings). I had the chopped steak special, which was tasty and nicely cooked. It made me want to try a burger the next time.
Wife's food was the real star, and I think the way to go here; a reuben sandwich that had *beautifullly* thin-sliced corned beed and perfectly toasted bread. The onion rings are fantastic, with a delicious horseradish dipping sauce served aside. This is a solid place for a sandwich.
This is a fine pub that is going to serve the area well. Suggestions? Maybe a pub quiz. Maybe some live Irish music one night a week. Maybe some games you could take to tables to play while you nurse pints with your friends (something you see more in Europe and I wish you saw in the US more frequently). Stuff to do that doesn't involve watching the TVs (which run with the volume down, thankfully).
If they find the right 'hook' at this nice pub, I think they're on to something. Worth checking out, for sure.
