To say that Kips is out of the way is an understatement. To say that it's worth the effort to find is also an understatement. I tried the Irish spring rolls as an appetizer. They were incredible. I moved on to the bangers and mash. It was truly delightful. The food was high quality and really a bargain.
We sat outside to enjoy the patio, which was ample. The hostess told me that they make a point to put the smokers at one end of the patio and the non-smokers at the other end. Smart!
The staff was especially friendly and responsive. There were no mistakes and we didn't get forgotten about. We had a great time!
It's early morning Sunday, aka all day happy hour, and we're ready to enjoy our night. Kip's comes in to ensure that will NOT happen. First, we call Kip's to ask about the "Wooden Nickel," which according to the website, will give you a free second drink after 9 PM (trust me it was definitely after 9 PM). Hostess had no idea what a "Wooden Nickel" was. She should've checked the website. We arrive skeptically, and are quarantined to an area of books which are glued down so we can't read them (we graduated college, so we can read at this point... even with the alcohol). From there we order our drinks (which come in Halloween glasses; because nothing says June like tiny screen printed black bats), while also inquiring about the Sunday happy hour, which we find out apparently doesn't start on Sunday. We unnecessarily buy needlessly expensive drinks... this is most frustrating because there were just as many people outside of Fruit and Fish (yes, this is a real establishment nearby) as at this bar. Moral of the story, if you are looking for a place with reasonably priced beers and a fun atmosphere with at least 10 people, just say no to Kip. Seriously.
Review Source:Lets not forget that a 3-Star review is a solid review. to me a 3-Star means the place met expectations, it just didn't BLOW me away with some really unique twist and this describes Kips. Its a nice place to hang out, a decent selection of draft beers, a decent menu - all Irish, but prepared well.
I was in the area for a meeting with a new client and stayed at the Marriott where this restaurant is located. The place is a typical Irish Pub, clean and well decorated. The staff is friendly and very attentive to the guests.
I had the beer of the month "Rolle Bolle", it was recommended and it was good.
I sampled the white bean hummus, very tasty. The homemade Tomato Soup, chunky style, also tasty and the potato's and cabbage, nice with a little salt, pepper and butter.
All in all a good experience.
