A little torn on how to review this place--while the food is always at least decent, and often very good, the service is extremely inconsistent.
House salad is super yummy--love the berry vinaigrette (or whatever it is). Entrees are usually tasty, portions plentiful, but sometimes overpriced. The pizza is usually really good, although usually with a strangely greasy crust. It's yummy, if you don't think about it too much!
Service is all over the place--we've never had anyone treat us particularly rudely, but on any given day be anything between indifferent and painfully slow to extremely friendly and well timed. It doesn't seem to matter how many other people are in the restaurant, or what time of day you go.
Pretty decent pizza, and what a bargain at $5 for a large cheese pie - okay, really $7 because they make you buy a 20oz soda, but still a great deal.
The pizza is very thin, which I suppose is necessary to maintain a profitable margin when you're only charging $5 a pie, but I actually appreciate this because a normal slice of New York Pizza has about 400 calories per slice, whereas I doubt these slices have more than 320 calories per slice. Â That's perfect for me since I like to guard my girlish figure.
Their $4 meatball, chicken parmigiana, or eggplant subs (~$6 after mandatory soda purchase) are also very tasty and make for a good "lazy lunch" when you dont feel like making something.
Bless this place and the values it holds for a culture that has a lost appreciation for traditional fine dining, service, ambience, and of course the food. I am not going to comment on the food or write a page long review because there is nothing to say everything at this restaurant speaks for itself. Everything is of top quality seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service that is at your beckon call to answer questions or make suggestions. Â Get in your car bring a friend, family member or partner and get in here for lunch. The Chefs knowledge of cuisine extends far beyond the traditional mediterranean story book menu. Call ahead plan a party there is few if any places left like this who put such a high importance on being accommodating
Review Source:Went there on Valentine's Day. Â The place was covered in balloons - nice touch. Â They seated us "downstairs". Â Whenever the door opened, the cold air rushed in - not fun. Â The waitress was very nice. Â The food was kind of slow to come out, and I was starving (ate light all day to save my belly for dinner). Â Everyone had to order from a Valentine's menu which was not advertised on the website and no one told my husband about it when he made reservations. Â Not a problem for us, but for my 11 year old. Â The chef let my daughter order a pizza instead, thank you. Â We were served two glasses of champagne, nice. Â The casear salad was yummy - it was the best part of the meal. Â Waited over 20 minutes for the check (actually more, if you count the 12 minutes after the dessert plate was cleared and my husband got up to ask the hostess for the check - our waitress was running around and maybe forgot about us?). Â The hostess gave both myself and my daughter a rose with the check, which was also nice. Â I noticed that the couple next to us who arrived 45 minutes after we did got their check before we did. Â Interesting.
Review Source:I have been to this place a handful of times for pizza and sandwiches but I would like to try them out for entrees.
As for the pizza - The plain cheese pizza has been good and bad... I have had it several times where the dough tasted off and there wasn't enough sauce. Other times it has been pretty good. So of the 6 times I have been there, Â I would say 2 of them were bad to the point of no one wanting the pizza.
Subs - The chicken parm sub there is the best one they have, The eggplant was ok but rather bland, it needed more sauce. btw if you as for a side of sauce its $3-4 for the 1/4 pound plastic containers.. btw their sauce you pay for which is what they use in their entrees is really good. Its not the same as the pizza sauce out of a can they use when they put a little sauce on the subs.
Entrees- I have seen some nice entrees come out, one especially when the owner was making his daughter a chicken dish... It wasn't on the menu but from the looks of it, I would guess to say their entrees should be pretty reasonable.
For now they are running pizza specials of $5 for a large plain pie and $4 for their chicken, meatball or egglplant subs which are great values. On the flip side when I want a really good meatball or eggplant parm, I goto another place that make them 100 times better.
If you are in the area, I would say try out this mom/pop style restaurant.
Eaten here via take out a few times. Â I found this place as NJ Magazine rated this place as having the best pizza in NJ a few years back. Â
I've tried a few of their items but my last order was the Broccoli Rabe pizza. This is topped with sautéed broccoli rabe, spicy Italian sausage, hot cherry peppers, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. It's pretty good but there is something off about the crust....slightly oily which I found odd. Â
I really want to like this place but their service is pretty bad. Â The last time I phone ordered, I was asked to hold. Â 5 minutes later no one picks up.....so while on my land-line, I call them with my cell....another person answers. Â I kindly tell them I am waiting on the other line.....and that I would most likely not be ordering from them in the future due to poor service. Â
Would rate higher but the staff needs an overhaul.
My favorite restaurant of all time. The food is fabulous - always! We eat here at least once a week. We order take-out pizza with a house salad - love the raspberry vinaigrette house dressing!! Or, we'll go with a bottle of wine for date night. We all have our favorite dishes - I love the salmon special and my boyfriend loves the stuffed pork. My kids always get pasta - but it really doesn't matter what you order. Every dish is delicious!
Review Source:I went last night for an anniversary with my boyfriend. Everything was beautiful. We sat down to a table drizzled with petals and were immediately greeted by our waiter Fermin. He was kind and attentive, always helpful, and his suggestions were spot on! The restaurant was BYOB but Fermin was able to steer us towards what would go well with the wine we brought. The food was absolutely fabulous! We had the calamari fiorentina to start and I had the Veal di Paris while my boyfriend had the duck over sweet onion orzo in a sweet demiglaze. Everything was cooked to perfection. Dessert was death by chocolate, the perfect amount of decadence to end the meal and not make us feel completely stuffed. We both agreed we would visit again soon. Absolutely wonderful!
Review Source:My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. I ordered the Rigatoni Vodka which was delicious and my husband got the veal tortellini's which he loved. The house salad was ok and the caesar salad was very good (it is more a cheesy caesar dressing than an anchovy caesar dressing). Our waitress was attentive, but the food is slow to come out. If your in a rush I would skip this place, but otherwise go and enjoy
Review Source:We live in town so this place is very convenient. Â They have been doing a pizza and sub special for quite some time now and my husband and I have taken advantage a couple times. Â Pizza is delicious. Â Its thin crust and the sauce is awesome! Â Also have had the meatball parm and chicken parm subs. Â They use great bread and again the sauce is amazing. Â We have also gone there for dinner and had their "pastabilities" special. Â Great value and location.
Review Source:We ate here twice in 2 days. Â It's the best italian restaurant in the area. Â I find the servers very friendly. Â The kitchen can get a little backed up but the food is worth the wait. Â The pizzas are awesome - you can't go wrong with any of them. Â My wife and I each had a veal dish in a cream sauce and it was great (I forget the name of the one I had but it is named after the chef so ask for it). Â The apps are awesome and my son had their clam chowder which he ate two days in a row.
Go and enjoy.
I have been here many times. Overall it is very good. Some stand outs and some disappoinments. The service, when you have someone good, is very attentive, although in general I agree servers are aloof.
Everything is made to order, so there can be a wait, but often it is well worth it. I recommend the pasta dishes, especially seafood. People love the brick oven pizza, I've never had it myself.
BYOB.
I am surprised that there aren't more reviews as this place has been a popular restaurant for at least 15 years. There are 2 dining rooms and 2 separate menus- one for La Casa Bianca and one for Giasuppe's Pizzeria. My husband and I enjoyed dining here last Tuesday. We first shared an appetizer pizza that was written up in the NJ Monthly Magazine when this place was selected as one of the top ten pizza places in New Jersey. It was the Wild Mushroom Pizza, which has plum tomato sauce, portabella, shitake, domestic, and porcini mushrooms with fresh rosemary and garlic. It was good and the mushrooms had a wonderful savory flavor. Then we enjoyed our salads that come with entrees we ordered. I had a fluffy salad of mixed greens that was very good and my husband enjoyed the Caesar salad. We ended taking home most of our delicious entrees as the small pizza and salad were quite satisfying. I had the surf and turf special and my husband had a huge pork chop, which he said was delicious. I suspect that there may have been a good bit of butter in the tasty sauce as it tasted rich. The owner chef prepares and plates all of the dishes. My only suggestion to the chef would be to include more lower-fat dinners on the menu with nutritional information. The staff and owner/chef are very charming and took good care of us. We really enjoyed our evening there. There's free parking and a second entrance in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant is BYOB and closed on Mondays. Menus are available on the Website at http://www.lacasabianca.…. Reservations are suggested.
Review Source:My wife and I are very picky about Italian places, but this one gets my vote. Â I suppose the first issue is why anyone ends up in Whitehouse Station to begin with, but it is a short detour off of Route 22. Â Not worth a journey but OK if you are in the area.
Entrance is via the rear parking lot, you enter past the coffee bar (this is BYOB). Â There is casual seating for the pizzeria section and to the left a white tablecloth dining area for the full menu.
Service here is very attentive but some of the staff is young and it shows in small ways. Â The food is very good but not outstanding. Â I tried the linguini with white clam sauce which had tons of clams and a very nice sauce with the pasta aldente as it should be. Â My wife had a grilled chicken dish which was good as well. Â House salads were fine. Â I tried the fried mozz appetizer which was tasty if a bit heavy.
It is slightly out of the way for us, but I expect to be back to sample more of the menu. Â I met "Chef Paul" on the way out, who impressed me as a nice guy and very proud of his menu, which is as it should be.
I just moved to the area and was a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to find another go-to Italian restaurant to put into the dining out rotation, but I surely found delicious Italian food here. Upon finding out it was our first time, the waitress assured us that everything, repeat everything, on the menu was good. She couldn't single out any 'signature' dish just because everything is so good, and she was right. We got some gorgonzola sauce pasta with mushrooms, some squid ink pasta and something with shrimp, scallops and maybe pasta... Sorry, my memory is failing me, but I just know it was a Friday during lent and there was no meat involved, though they have a lot of yummy looking meaty things on the menu. Needless to say, all the sauces were divine, especially the gorgonzola. They have a house red and white wine, but it's also BYO so that's probably your best bet.
