I arrived at this local "Italian" eatery in hopes of home cooked Italian food that I was raised on.. Definitely not. Â First off, we arrived during lunch, and there was no lunch menu or prices. Â Ok, I could deal with that had the food actually tasted good. Â Well, that's when it took a turn for the worse. Â No free garlic rolls or bread?! Eh! Then, what was supposed to be baked clams was just a big clam w/pure bread crumbs and no flavor. Â I ordered stuffed shells as I hadn't had those in years, and it was just covered in a very standard tomato sauce, that looked straight from a jar. Â The ricotta inside was just a big pile of mush and just not appetizing at all.
Review Source:I came La FAmiglia for the first time and am craving to go back .The food, service, and price were all on point.I ate the steak risotto in brown sauce slowly because I didn't want to finish! Garlic rolls were delicious and my lady friend loved her tilapia dish. One suggestion: have a pepper mill and cheese grater for customers, not just shakers. The only down side is that you shouldn't expect an extravagant salad to be served with your meal, but it wasn't bad enough forme to downgrade them one star.
Next time: DESSERT!
An actual Italian restaurant, with Italian waitresses, with Italian people cooking the food...so there is a god.
I have been here many times, and they treat us very well. All of the following dishes are delicious:
Fried Calamari
Bruschetta
Linguine and Clams
Pizza
Garlic Rolls
Salad
Spaghetti
Baked Ziti
Chicken Marsala
Zuppa di pesce
Antipasto
Chicken Parmesan
Did I mention i'm morbidly obese?
I used to eat NY style pizza at place called Antonio's when I was younger and it was awesome. Well I moved from that area of course but was very excited to find out that La Famiglia is owned by the same people. It's down the street from my house and there pizza is great! I haven't been adventurous and tried any of the other dishes but the pizza does it for me!
Review Source:This is a great place to bring a family.  Decor is pleasant and theme appropriate - ambiance is casual but you don't feel like a fast food  or even really fast casual place.  Things were okay - service not great but pleasant.  Food is probably a three and a half to four stars.  The overall experience was killed by the up-charges. To get soup instead of salad with the meal was $1.50 more - I can handle that.  But then to get Romaine lettuce in my salad instead of mixed was a $2 up-charge (which happened to be almost 30% of the whole salad cost which was $6.50)!  I happen to know that Romaine doesn't cost that much more than iceberg and there wasn't even $2 worth of lettuce in the bowl.  Dinner for three adults and a child (11 years old) was $58 plus tip and it didn't even include alcohol and only one soft drink (we are water drinkers).  Again, the food was pretty good but the overall experience was lacking.
Review Source:Since moving to Miami we have not been able to find an "authentic" Italian Restaurant..La Famiglia is fabulous!! I know Italian food, growing up Italian, with many family members owning Italian eateries, also spent a lot of time in Italy.
The service is very friendly, run by an Italian family. Â This reasonably priced fare is the real thing. It is a bit tricky to find, but hang in there, worth finding for sure! Â The first time we went we had their phone # and had to call them to find it...have their phone # handy.
Wow, it scares me that this is the best italian according to some yelp reviews. Â I'd been here several times during some recent trips to Florida. Â I wasn't a fan of the pastas, either they hurt my tummy or were just bland. Â The garlic rolls that come with the pasta are amazing. Â Be prepared to down a bunch of mints though as the garlic is strong. Â
It's a bummer they don't have their menu online. Â I wanted to order takeout pizza a few times but couldn't find the menu.
Best Italian food in the South Florida area! They are always willing to accommodate special request! Â Everything is delish, from bread to dessert! Â I just cannot leave without having some Cannoli's!!! Â
The Chicken Florentine should be a regular menu item, and I must say Kudos the Chef for always accommodating my request for it!
I mostly give this place 5 stars because of their service. It's a family run establishment and it shows. The servers are friendly and enjoy a good laugh with you. My wife is big fan of their Chicken Florentine and even though they have since removed it from their menu, the chef custom prepares it for her every time she asks for it. Got to love that. They also bring extra plates and box up the left overs for you. Â
As far as the food is concerned, for the prices, you would think it would be sub par, on the contrary, it's all top quality, flavorful and fresh every time. I never asked, but I doubt the pasta is home made, regardless, it tastes fresh and perfectly al dente. Their house red sauce has a hint of sweetness but not too sweet, just right. Their arrabiata sauce has an comfortable heat level and tastes great. The pizza is authentic NY style with a thin crispy crust. Their gourmet style pie has fresh and crisp green peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepperonis and sausage with a ton of cheese that keeps me going back at least once a month.
Excellent service and very tasty, generous sized Italian dishes that are reasonably priced. Â Eggplant Parmesan was fabulous as was the broccoli soup. Â My wife really enjoyed her special as well. Â Could not finish the food. Â Look forward to ordering the pizza on our next visit. Â We will be back!
Review Source:So, I decided to check out this restaurant for lunch for the first time ever with my wife. Â We were not really in the mood for Italian but we were around the area and kind if in a hurry. Â WOW!! thank god we made this choice! Â The lunch menu was not all that so I decided to go with the 2 slices of pizza and a coke. Â My wife on the other hand ordered the Mussels Marinara which when it arrived to our table we were like WHAT!! wow. Â Big Plate with Big Mussels on it. Â Overall, great experience, our waitress was great never once did I have to ask for a refill on my beverage. Â Will come back for SURE!!!
Review Source:Very casual, open restaurant. Â Service VERY friendly. Â Shrimp parmigian, Gnocchi, and seafood combo over linguini were all very good with very large portions. Â They use very large, meaty shrimp. Â If you're a salad lover, upgrade from the house to the organic salad with your meal. Its a big plate of very fresh greens (plus tomatoes and other things) with a homemade vinaigrette.
Review Source:Service was great. Nice little restaurant. Only complaint was that the bright white lights makes the ambiance very cold.
What I loved most was the very kind service. My hubby and I shared the chicken parm dinner and they split it up for us and brought it out on two different plates. So nice! And it was definitely enough for two.
Garlic rolls: very garlicky.
Cesar salad: yummy yummy.
Chicken Parmesan dinner: ok. sauce tasted a little bit like chef boyardee.
Definitely want to come back and try their pizza and heros.
Pricing is very good!
After opening for just a week, this fabulous restaurant is located in the Miramar Town Center. Â
The food, service and atmosphere were superb.
Brought to you by the owners of Antonio's on the east side of the city, the menus only share the similarity of pizza. Â The rest of this menu is new and will rival other fancy italian restaurants. Â You could say that the food should cost a lot more, however keeping the prices low will allow more people to enjoy the restaurant, and keep them coming back.
After ordering the chicken parmesan with spaghetti, I was quickly brought a fresh salad with creamy italian dressing. Â It was accompanied by some of the best garlic rolls I have had since Little Italy in NYC. Â After the salad, the entree was quickly brought out, and it was heaven. Â The chicken was plump and juicy, and the taste was so good, I didn't try the spaghetti until after the chicken was completely finished.
After completing the meal, the desert came out, and the gelato was brought to the table. Â I highly recommend the vanilla flavor.
I will be visiting this establishment again, and I encourage you to give it a try.
