If I can give a negative star I would. Their website was never updated, and the place is now serving "Boiling Crab" style food. The website looks like a nice, quiet, and white linen place to dine, but that quickly changed with the DJ and unexpected feel. We did not expect this, but gave them a chance. They sold out on everything we asked (King crab, Dungeness crab, calamari, popcorn shrimp, & even steamed rice!). We asked what they had left, and was told mainly frog legs. Settled on fries, snow crabs and sausages (What was left over). After a long wait for our food, they finally brought it to our table. Â The food was very cold, bland and uneventful. They sell by the pound, but apparently do not know how much a pound weights. Also, their Thai iced tea was watered down and horrible.
Note: Noticed a table next to us was just served fried rice, asked our server if we can get that, she went to the kitchen then later came back and said, "The kitchen is too hectic to make the fried rice we requested."
We were courteous and not once did we complain about anything (because we did not want spit in our food), our server felt sorry for us and did not charge for the crab. She is the only reason why we tipped her generously.
Heed this warning and stay away...
Sooo we just found out that this place finally re-opened as la lune imperial. I would have given it 5 stars but the service was slow n when we asked for more bread to go with the noodle soup it didn't come. We had to wait till someone else came to reorder it again. The chick who previously took the order was so lost n not to me took impatient. Â But overall food is good. Service not so much. Hopefully next time we go the service will be better.
Review Source:Took my parents here for Sunday brunch since we were looking for a new spot to try. Â We've heard from many friends that La Lune Palace and moved in here right next to the airport.
We arrived near 11AM and were the first customers in the place, we were seated outside and greeted to a gorgeous view of the airport runway.
My wife went ahead and ordered their Phnom Penh noodles, Me Ke Thang, and Beef Sticks.
Of the three I was most enamored by the beef sticks, not as good as my mother in laws recipe but darn near close to that. Â The Me Ke Thang was average and nothing to write home about.
La Lune is mostly a wedding venue and they serve in the mornings for the regular patrons. Â I hope I get to try their wedding catering to see how they stack up one day.
A few coworkers, who are also fellow world travelers found out that their home country is on my list of places to see - so they invited me out to introduce me to their country's cuisine. I know it won't be the same as if I were physically there, but I gots to eat!
So, the restaurant is up on the third floor and there's patio seating which provides view of the airport - not the commercial hangars or planes, but the more interesting personal or vintage crafts that mostly were landing and taxiing.
And the food - I've had Cambodian at restaurants on Anaheim in Long Beach so I just let my friends order so I could see what the locals would want to eat. There was nothing exoctic but I did enjoy the dishes as they were all pretty full of flavor and good sized portions.
Service was pretty good though it could be attributed to their not being very busy as the indoor seating was closed off in preparation for a wedding later in the day. Nevertheless, they were pretty attentive and cordial even as we just sat and talked for a few hours.
I had a good experience. Good friends. Good food. Good times.
They have a great morning special for noodles which is 3.95, the down side is that the portions aren't that big but if you order some chak quai (chinese bread) on the side to go with your noodle you'll definitely get full! My visit here was great, while I was there I ordered a to-go Thai boat noodle for my boyfriend and when he opened the box they forgot the meat ! There was basically just the soup, noodle and veggies! I don't recommend getting any to go order after that incident. ALSO, sitting outside maybe nice with the view BUT becareful. They tend to forget about you. This has happened to me more then once, I had to wait about 30 minutes until they finally checked up on my table.
Review Source:I have been wanting to visit this place ever since it first opened, but whenever I make an effort to visit, they are either closed from operating hours or they have a special event going on. I should have taken all these "precautions" as signs.
3/29/13 was my first real encounter at La Lune Palace. It was close to 6 p.m. on a Friday when I arrived.
When I walked into the lobby I was "greeted" by a sign acknowledging when La Lune Palace is open for business. Wow, I was surprised that they are only open all day on the WEEKENDS and are closed between 2:30 - 5 p.m./M-W-TH-F.
At this rate, customers would definitely want to dine elsewhere, especially after finding out this place just isn't worth keeping up with its sporadic schedule. To add to the disappointment, this place is nothing close to a palace at all. This place looks a bit run down, which is very surprising considering it only opened up for a couple of years. Perhaps I should give them the benefit of the doubt, since I was still the lobby area after all.
I made my way to the Third Floor, which was where La Lune Palace was stationed. My instincts did not fail me; the traces of a run-down appearance followed me from the lobby. The chairs and tables looked cheap and dirty. I was baffled, especially when I thought so highly of this place.
There was absolutely no other customers when my boyfriend and I arrived; very surprising for a Friday night (plus we arrived an hour after its initial opening time for dinner). The only upsides to this place is the view of the airport and the gorgeous ceiling.
Okay, let's get to the FOOD: There were two entrees that I decided on getting: lok lak (diced French style steak with slices of tomatoes and lettuce leaves) and pleah sach ko (spicy/sour Cambodian beef salad). It was a hit or miss here.
The lok lac did not taste good at all, and the dipping sauce was just awful. On the contrary, the pleah sach ko was pretty good and marinated right.
TWO STARS: one goes to the attentive customer service and the other to the pleah.
Overall, because of the unkempt atmosphere of this place and one bad entree, I will not be returning to this location (I might consider coming back when the sporadic schedule discontinues). It's a shame though, because La Lune Place's sister restaurant Little La Lune, is a place that I still frequent: better good, great ambiance and superb customer service. If I were to compare the two, it'd be:
La Lune Place - hot chick with an ugly personality.
Little La Lune - okay-looking gal with a golden personality.
My partner and I went to La Lune Palace last night...we live pretty close and have always wanted to go there. Â We walked in at about 5:55pm. Â We were warmly greeted by the bartender, I assumed. Â We were shown to a very nice table by the window and offered drinks. Â I requested a Bombay Sapphire martini, up, dry, with two olives from the man who had greeted us. Â We also ordered spring rolls as an appetizer.
After about 20 minutes the appetizers still had not arrived. Â The wait person walked over with a martini glass with a blue liquid in it. Â I tried to explain that the drink I had ordered should not be blue in color and sent it back -- in addition there were also no olives in the glass.
We finally decided we were not going to wait any longer. Â We walked up to the bar and said we were leaving.
I was very disappointed; I really had wanted to experience the food.
Love it Love it, Love it. Noodles are $3,25 until the end of this Month. I love the Thai boat Noodle. The ambience is wonderful. Overlooking the Long Beach area and the Mountains. The Food is all that and a bag of Mango Chips hahahaha. Â
Oh, I forgot to mention, they have outside sitting and that would be a fun thing to do during the summer.
Very nice, elegant, and spacious dining area, with high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, view of airplane taxiing around the airport.
Had N.1 and N.2 (noodle 1 and 2) for dinner! Plus, long fried donut. I guess it is served with the tasty rice noodle soup, along with the usual accompaniments of bean sprouts and large pieces of fresh lime. The flavorful and light soups were served in medium sized bowls.
The price was great too! There must be a special going on, all for $8.17! That is like prices from 20 years ago!
Upon entering, I was impressed with the elegantly graceful, yet casual, ambiance. Â Our vantage point from the 2nd floor had a cool view of the airport. Â I felt very carefree due to the openness of this light and airy venue. Â The staff was wonderful. Our large party thoroughly enjoyed our Cambodian/Thai feast. Â The presentation of our food was very appealing. Â What a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a very delicious, authentic, fresh, and healthy meal with dear friends. Â I'm already planning to invite more close friends to this treasure trove!
Review Source:Amazing food and probably the best Pad-See Ew I've had in a while.
I know I know, going to a Cambodian restaurant and ordering Thai food, surely that it a sin. I really wanted noodles though, I'm sorry.
Everything I had here was absolutely delicious though and the wait staff could not have been more sweet. It was like someone dipped them all in condensed milk.
Also after I came to this restaurant, I told everyone about it's awesomeness.
I love that you can get boba in the Thai tea and that they have a dish that is basically just fried dough. Who doesn't love fried dough? Especially when it's super hot and fresh. YUM
This place has one of the coolest settings too because it's at the top of a building overlooking the runway of the airport. You can sit outside on the patio and watch the planes or even sit inside at one of the big banquet tables and listen to some interesting karaoke. I couldn't understand a word of it since all the songs were in Cambodian, but I'm sure they were singing about me.
I'll be back!
For anyone who has been to location in downtown Long Beach (near Poly) and to this new location on Spring.... this is a HUGE upgrade. Â The banquet hall is large and has a nice vibe. Â There's also a few tables on the terrace overlooking the airport . Â The breeze is nice but the view is just of runway and in my opinion kinda takes away from the pretty interior of La Lune.
The Phenom Phenh noodles are pretty good. Â Very similar to pho but the broth is more fisher. I also enjoyed the Beef Lok Lak because it was juicy and tender.
The two times I've been here the service has been kinda slow. Â Other than that La Lune is a decent place for a meal.
I love looking out over the airport. Â Great location! Â The lunch specials were great. Â For $6.95 Â I got soup, Mongolian beef and rice. Â My husband ordered the orange chicken. Â We both enjoyed our meals. Â Nice flavor on the sauces. Our server was nice but service was a bit slow.
Review Source:WOW did someone forget how to cook Cambodian food. Â LaLune was never this bland and tasteless. Â Went there for the first time at their new location and I was very disappointed. Â The food was never great, but it went from okay to NOWAY! Â Price is the same but they cut down on the serving size as well. Â
Honestly come on they have to know how bad the food is here. Â Not going back for another year or so, hopefully they hire new cooks by then.
RIght when you enter, you are taken to an elevator to the 3rd floor (very upscale and classy) and when you arrive to the restaurant, you see a beautiful venue and I love the decor and high ceiling! In addition, I chose to sit outside the patio so I can see the LB airport view and the breathtaking airplanes coming and going...We had a few helicopter wave to us as we were having lunch....so fancy and nice and the price were so cheap and affordable which is a steal for such a beautiful place like this my god! In addition, I had the lunch special that consist of Hawaiian Fried rice and a coconut milkshake that made my day....amazing and the staff were so nice and helpful...I would def. come here again...for a date, meetings, get together, a must I say! I The Cambodian Food here is spectacular...if you love asian food, this place is a must!
Review Source:The place used to be this beautiful upscale Italian restaurant. They probably tried clearing it out but still left the old decorations up, which makes it look really weird.
The view is still very beautiful though. You can watch planes land and take off if you sit outside.
I had the tom yum soup because I love this soup, but I didn't like it. It had so much basil that I was not pleasurable to eat. The server was great however. She was very accommodating and suggested I ate rice with my soup.
Overall, the food was so-so, the service was great, the prices were reasonable, the decor was... odd.
The decor is left over from e previous Italian restaurant , a little odd and ugly,. It was just dingy, food and dishes still on empty tables . We were seated under a speaker spewing loud music so asked to move . Then 'live' music started up , no escape.
Our first selections were not available and when we did receive our food it was dreadful , one taste and a hasty scrub of the toungue. We told the waiter that it was inedible and we were leaving , he laughed . Once we pointed out that it wasn't funny he got a Manager who was very civil and said that of course we shouldn't pay .
Terrible waste of space.
I really like this place for a couple of reasons: 1. Â The food was pretty good. Â We had the clams, sour soup, stir fry veggies and papaya salad. Â Wasn't a big fan of the crispy pork with gai lan though. Â But, have never had that before so I couldn't say if it was good or bad compared to other places.. Â 2. Â Location - right off the 405 freeway, this is going to make it so much easier for those of us coming in from OC to not have to weave through downtown traffic. Â 3. Â Ambiance - it used to be an Italian restaurant and is on the 3rd floor of a hangar like building that overlooks the back of LB Airport. Â Great outside patio, nice high ceilings and pretty cool view. Â If I had to choose a Cambodian restaurant to attend a wedding, this would be the place. Â
A couple things I didn't like: Â 1. Â Hours - what is up with the hours? Â Who can eat dinner at this place if they close at 5pm? Â Really? Â It's not a noodle house or are they trying to draw them in like Trieu Chau restaurant? Â First, they're not open early enough to draw a breakfast crowd, so why would they avoid the dinner crowd? Â Does this mean they don't do wedding receptions? 2. Â Bathroom was already showing some lack of care. Â One of my most hated things about pretty much ALL Cambodian restaurants are the nasty, dirty, un-maintained bathrooms. Â I don't know what's so hard about paying someone to clean your bathroom regularly. Â 3. Â I hear they opened 6 months ago, and looks like they're not making any effort to market because we were the ONLY customers there. Â Hope they invest in some marketing, because I'd hate to see the place shut down.
Well, well, well you high class CAMBOS!! haha Me likes... we upgraded you guys! Look at that. Â I love to see that Cambodian people have switched over to the Bojie side. Â Very nice location, you can see the airplane strip (LB airport) you can see the planes lifting off or landing. Â It's very nice. Â The view is amazing and the restaurant itself is just gorgeous. Â You get a live band every weekend and you get great service. Â The dishes are fancy, but they are still your every day Cambodian food, with a hint of Thai fusion. Â The papaya salad here is pretty good, however you have to order it spicy to endure the taste that I encountered. Â Also, the shaking beef (loc Lac) BOMB! Â the pepper shrimp Delicious! The lychee smoothie Oh EM G! in your mouth!! that's right if you like Lychee than that damn smoothie will set your rockets soaring! oh so good!! I ordered two. Â I kind of had to share my last one. Â argh! but whatever. haha Me so greedy!! let's see I hear that the duck is delicious, so I'll be all over that duck soon enough! Â BTW this place is great for a wedding! Â like, really!! Affordable and gorgeous!! I would to attend to a wedding here.
Review Source:A mixture of Cambodian and Thai food. Yum. It's like a South East fusion of goodness. Located on the 3rd floor of the building, it has a magnificent view of the airport when seated outside. Clean and open area. There's also a live band that plays music all day inside the venue- but it might be too loud, for those who like to enjoy a quiet meal.
Food: Phonm Penh noodles were delicious. Soup is flavorful with the perfect amount of saltiness. My boyfriend got the congee - that was pretty good too. Â Our food took awhile to come out but the manager was very attentive and apologized for the wait.
Great place to try and love Cambodian food. Thumbs up!
It's a new location with a slight modification in their name. Â They've added the "Palace" to the place. Â The food is pretty standard and good as far as Cambodian food goes at a restaurant.
When compared to other Cambodian restaurants around Long Beach, I think this one has a more open layout with their high ceilings and big windows. Â It also has a nice view of the small Cessnas that lands at the Long Beach airport. Â Pretty cool!
The issues I have with this place are the loud music, which is present at all Cambodian restaurants, the poor details in the interior design, and the lack of a full bar...at the BAR! Â
However, I would come here again.
I was excited to try La Lune Palace after hearing about the launch months ago, but quickly found myself utterly dissapointed. I take major pride in being Cambodian and want nothing more than to see a successful Khmer fine dining establishment thrive, but there was just too much to gripe about.
1st, the decor. I imagined colossal stone and wooden Apsara dancers dancing off the walls, or at least paintings with some ties to Khmer culture, but there was none of the sort. There was nothing even remotely Cambodian in that restaurant. The corinthian and ionic columns reminescent from the former Da Vinci Restaurant really bothered me as it was so painfully western in origin. Come on, it's a Khmer restaurant, I'd love to see Khmer decor! You can't be La Lune PALACE with classical Greek columns as your main architectural attraction. An Italian restaurant can pull it off, but certainly not a Khmer one!
2nd, the food. Food was ok. I visited my parents in LB specifically so we could go out to try this restaurant. Consequently, we all got different dishes so we could sample each. Initially, we all ordered noodle soups, but were told they did not have any. It was 1 in the afternoon--the place opens at 11am, there should still be noodle at 1!--food gripe number one. Gripe number two is the lack of flavor in the dishes. Now, I don't know if the tastes have been dumbed down to suit American tastes, but as a Cambodian, the food could def use some work. The fried rice was plain...almost as if eating plain white rice with chinese sausage plain. The pad thai was pretty good...prob the best dishes of the three I tasted. My mi katang was a little plain, but quite good when hoisen sauce and a TON of siriacha, pepper flakes, and sate sauce was added, which leads to gripe number three: the spicy stuff wasn't spicy. I ate maybe a palm sized serving of my noodle for lunch and in that serving, I had to sprinkle three spoonfulls of the pepperflakes, a spoonful of sate, and two or three drenchings of the Siriacha. Maybe I just have a high heat tolerance, but all that just got it mildly spicy for me. O well.
Something a bit strange for me was the salad that was served prior to our meal--mi katang with a summer salad topped with an amazingly creamy and delicious ranch dressing and deep fried vermicelli? Don't get me wrong, the salad was good in itself, but it was just a weird combination as they did not compliment one another at all. Perhaps a salad with more traditional flavors would mesh a bit better here. Yes, I know Americans shrink in fear at the idea of fish sauce, but I'm sure you can figure out some sort of compromise here. I would not mind that salad with a more succint dish though. It was incredible.
3rd, the service. Service was great when we got it...that's Cambodian hospitality, some of the best I've had in a while...but it was intermittent at best. We had to flag a busboy down for Siriacha and later, for a check. After waiting an eternity for the check to get picked up, we finally just walked over to the counter to pay and get the hell out. No apologies for the absense in service, just a chuckle from the girl at the counter. Â Hmmm, yes, I want to laugh at your bad service too. Â Read my reviews and you'll know my biggest pet peeve is bad customer service. I don't care how good your food is...if service is bad, I don't come back and I Yelp all about it so the whole world knows!
Another thing that bothered me was the fact that La Lune Palace is marketed as Khmer fine dining, but there's nothing fine about it but perhaps the space itself. There was a huge lag in clean up. As I walked in, the first thing I noticed were the empty tables covered in dirty dishes from previous customers...an absolute eye sore and completely unrefined! Those tables were not cleared until half way through our meal! Unacceptable for a fine dining establishment! Here's my suggestion: Hire at least one more waitress so that more solid attention is given to customers, and as diners finish their meals, have the waitresses/waiters/busboys start taking dishes away so that we, the customers, don't have to deal with the disgusting eyesore. Bottomline: You can't run a fine dining restaurant the way you run a regular Khmer reestaurant. It just won't cut it.
I truely hope La Lune Palace cleans itself up and gets onto http://opentable.com soon. This place has A LOT of potential. I just hope it can live up to it, and when it does, I'll be back in full support.
P.S. Please do something about those condiment holders....they were ok for La Lune, but they're too ghetto for La Lune Palace. Â :p
This place sucks!!!! It said that it opened at a particular time- and when I went there they said they weren't open until an hour later. Â There were at least 10 employees on, but my family and I still had to ask for EVERYTHING... and i'm talking about EVERYTHING!!! That would be understandable if it was busy- but my family and I were literally the only people there!! Â I will never go here again and I have warned everyone I know to also not go here. Â If you want real Cambodian Food- this is NOT THE PLACE!!!
Review Source:WELCOME - La Lune Palace - to the airport neighborhood! Â Also, being so close to my work - cuz nothing else is around here. Â I haven't had La Lune since high school, and that was the location on Atlantic. Â When I discovered that they had built this inside the old DiVinci restaurant, I was thrilled.
Now, to the review!
I came to visit almost immediately after seeing it was built and discovered they had odd lunch only hours, presumably during their soft launch.
Food was tasty, but the restaurant itself was far from complete. Â Construction was still in full swing, wall panels were everywhere, and the restaurant felt like the ruins of an Italian Monastery. Â
I must say, the staff was EXTREMELY accommodating and friendly. Â Biggest way to success in my book is a great staff.
I'll return now that they have full hours and try some of their tasty Khmer and Thai dishes.
Saw a sign for this place opening up near the house and decided to try lunch there with the roommate -- we do love Thai food. We arrived shortly after noon and were seated in a table with a nice view of the airport after a few requests to that effect. The hostess gave us menus and then the waiting began. It took ten or fifteen minutes for our server to even notice us, during which we watched a few other tables get their orders taken and their drinks. Once she arrived, she took our drink orders (hot jasmine tea for the roommate, Thai iced coffee for me) and was about to wander off before we stopped her, since we had already had plenty of time to decide what we wanted. She took our lunch orders (beef lok lak and spring rolls for him, pineapple fried rice and ja-kwai bread for me), informed us only wonton soup was available, and disappeared, returning some minutes later with our drinks, one soup, and the bread appetizer we had ordered. I inquired regarding the presence of my soup and she seemed surprised that I wanted any, despite the fact that it is clearly included in the lunch special. She brought my soup several minutes later.
Our "wonton" soup, though delicious, was wonton-less; when we flagged another server down to get refills on our drinks and ask about the whereabouts of our food, they informed us it was tom yum soup. It was delicious, and frankly it's what I would have preferred to order, but it's still a bit irksome to be told something other than what they have.
After this came more waiting, during which we had to flag down another server to get a drink refill and order a Thai iced tea. This much, at least, our substitute server managed promptly, and the tea was utterly delicious. Which was good, since we had a lot of waiting to do! Our server eventually came by and explained that the kitchen had lost our order because the chef tended to throw out duplicates -- despite the menu being small and a full house necessitating a lot of them. She put our orders back in and told us they would hurry.
It was another ten or fifteen minutes before my dining companion got his entree; the beef lok lak was immensely tasty, flavorful and tender, but the spring rolls were conspicuously absent, as was my pineapple fried rice. We inquired as to their whereabouts; the server explained that she was waiting on them. She returned with the spring rolls several minutes later, though my rice was still AWOL. It wasn't until my dining companion was nearly finished with his meal (with my blessing!) that my rice finally arrived. I thought the description mentioned shrimp, but there were none in evidence; it was tasty, but we were largely out of time, so I got it boxed up.
They did comp us the drinks for our trouble, but a lunch that should have taken maybe an hour took upwards of two. The food was tasty, and the Thai iced tea was my favorite anywhere -- but if they don't get their service together, they're going to have a hard time attracting repeat customers, even with decent prices and good food. I'm willing to try it again, but I'm going to wait a bit and hope they get their service in order.

The place is a little confusing to get to. There is a small sign near the elevators indicating that the restaurant is on the third floor. The decor is very beautiful, but lacks traditional Cambodian decorations. It still appears to be an italian restaurant.
Service was ok, but they need a lot more training. The waiters confused our orders bringing us an extra chow fun instead of a Pad Thai and the food came out at different times. The waiters were arguing in front of the guests and their manager was training them at that moment. Although their manager was very polite, she kept apologizing and confirming our order, it was all very unprofessional.
The food was okay. It tasted more Chinese than Cambodian. The Pad Thai was actually better than most. It wasn't greasy or too sweet. It has delicious pieces of tofu and lots of eggs. I love that they gave some lime wedges on the side. The chow fun, however, lacked flavor but had a nice gravy-like sauce.
This place has potential but it needs work.
I would have given 4 stars... Beautiful place, non ghetto-ish, and a lot of parking. I brought my parents here for lunch today. They offer lunch specials that range from $6.95 and up. Only open from 11am to 2pm for now. Â
My mom had the pad see ew beef $6.95 (she was not impressed) but is very picky. Â My dad had the Beef Lok Lak and he said it was good the beef was tender $8.50. I had the Fried Pork Chitling it came with pickeled veggies and rice. Not bad but have had better. All lunch specials come with rice and a cup of soup (wonton shrimp or veggie). Â I also got the fried pork chop $6.95 no soup to go (or they did not offer me) for the hubby which he will have for dinner. There is outside seating are but way to dusty and windy for my baby to be outside. Â
They really need to work on their service. Our server was Ariana or Adriana very sweet girl. They seem young and unexperienced. Very nice kids but the floor mananger who is not paying too much on teaching or structurizing their staff. Hint...get a lil more organized. For having owned the original La Lune on Atlantic ave. and Cyclo Noodles on PCH you would think they have a handle on it. I'm just saying if they are trying to make La Lune Palace a more fine dining your customer demographic has expanded mainly to more Non Khmer customers. Anglos are not like Khmer customers. Tips should be better. lol Best of luck. Some fine tuning and this place will survive. I hope to book a banquet party there soon. Just a little worried about their banquet food. Lunch specials did not whoa me.
Lunch only being served right now. Nice indoor and outdoor dining. The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. The ice tea with Jasmine is good as well. $7.95 lunch , orange chicken with Jasmine rice and soup a great value.
They are still staffing up so they are getting the feel for the lunch crowd. Still very attentive. Nice to see. I recommend highly.
