Nom nom nom...that was me tonight at La Morenita!
Great food and wonderful, friendly service from Javier who recommended the right food and really knew the menu well.
Ordered the two combo meal of garlic shrimp burrito, tamale with rice and beans.
Everything was full of flavor. The beans had just the right amount of texture and spanish rice was moist and delicious.
Had a pomegranate margarita that was spectacular! They have three sizes to choose from, I believe: Regular, Grande and Grande Grande. I had the regular and it was still a full 12oz with a lime wedge and salted rim.
Definitely coming back!
This is a great family owned, local restaurant! Excellent Mexican food with excellent service ... Â
Few things on layout of the restaurant... Â The covered patio is real nice, but it would be nice if the side windows opened up somehow... Â A TV out there would be nice as well..
Bar area is very small.. Â But nothing you can do about that...
Overall great place!
I've been coming here forever and it seems like it's getting worse with each visit. I always order the same dish which is the Pollo Ranchero & love it lots of flavor & low cal:)
Last Sunday I went with my family and the waiter was awful he practically threw our chips at us. I had never seen him there before. I also ordered a Michelada & glass wan't even rimmed, bummer.
Used to love this place now your better off going to the Taco Trucks for way cheaper.
Very disappointed in their food and pricing recently. Have eaten here many times before and usually stick to ordering the wedding burrito. I ordered the same & it was great BUT my husband and a guest ordered burrito plates that were absolutely not edible! One plate was chicken burritos and I even tasted the meat..bad meat or really weird spice? Our guest's plate was rice & bean burritos and they were way too dry! Our pitcher of margaritas cost more than the food? We have too many local Mexican restaurants here to accept that so we will be going elsewhere from now on. Sad since we've chatted with the owner over years but it just isn't worth it anymore.
Review Source:I had a private party of about 35 people this past weekend, Javier the manager set up the heaters in advance so everyone was nice and warm when we got there, and the food was perfection, chips on the tables all ready. He was very accomodating to all my guests and not anything we needed but not overly solicating. Wonderful ambiance and decorated nice. I would definetely recomend this place to anyone having a small get together, or just a great family dinner. ect. GOOD job again Javier to you and your staff for making my brothers birthday memorable.
Review Source:Was driving through Modesto with friends and found this place through yelp to have dinner at. Â It is a little hard to find if you haven't been there before (No lit sign, or any other identifiable mark). Â Once there, we were seated promptly by the hostess. Â Our waitress was amazing. Â I go to restaurants in SF fairly often and the service at La Morenita was the best that any of us had had in a very long time. Â The food was good although nothing amazing and the atmosphere could use a little work but it is a great restaurant to stop in and grab a meal when passing through Central California. Â I'll likely return to this non-chain restaurant when in the area again.
Review Source:We sat at the bar for a quick lunch and long look at the soccer game on TV.
I enjoyed the chips and salsa, readily and regularly refilled by our waiter (who also handled the rest of the bar area and the bar itself with ease). Â My Bay Shrimp Tostada lunch was delicious. Â It reminded me of a super fresh ceviche tostada topped with crunchy cabbage. Â Recommended!
This Mexican Resturant has the best Green Enchiladas and everything is fresh and tasty. The only thing that I would say isn't very tasty is the Burgers they have because my Fiance has gotten one of their burgers and it wasn't the best but that's the reason why they are a Mexican Resturant and not a burger joint! They also have excellent Margaritas!
Review Source:Vegetarian burrito supreme with avocado, black beans, fajita vegetables, rice, and the sauce from the chile con carne burrito yes please. The chips and salsa aren't my favorite though but it's ok they refill my drink enough which is important because i drink a lot and very quickly. I'm dehydrated apparently.
