Not a bad place to get a drink and relax, enjoy the downtown area, stop in for a coffee with a friend and chit-chat, but this isn't the place to go if you're looking for a good breakfast.
I'd recently gone here as I've had ok experiences in the past, and thought to try out their breakfast. I got the 2 egg scramble, ordered over-medium eggs with country fried potatoes, some fruit, and just a Sprite.
The breakfast appeared good, but the eggs weren't good. In fact they had that slimy appearance. I understand they're not the easiest way to make eggs, but I do not enjoy them freely moving on their own when you can shake the plate and make it so. The sliver of cantaloupe was that, an almost paper thin sliver. The potatoes were good, and the toast too. A bit toasted unevenly, but ok.
The host was a bit odd too. I guess because of my cultural background he felt it ok to call me "home boy", which would have been funny, but it was not. I can understand why he's in the front and not working in the back.
All in all, there are much better places to eat in the downtown area. Course, it's usually around lunch time, but I have the knowledge now to avoid breakfast at Deva's or Deva's entirely as it has not changed at all - just a mediocre place.
There's no person that comes to your table to take your order (even if they say there coming to do that;() so you have to order at the register. We ordered eggs "roasted red potatoes" sausage links with toast. The eggs were cooked perfect!! but the potatoes were cold and mushy (I ordered extra crispy potatoes), the sausage links were cold and under cooked. So when she brought our plates she noticed that they weren't cooked and brought me some more. She explained that the chef soaks the potatoes before cooking so that's as crispy as they get. OK....got it. lol Ive ordered there waffles which are FAB!! Salad's FAB!! Sandwiches pretty good. . $28.00 for breakfast for two. I can now see why this place is not crowded in the mornings like it used to be:))
