Let me start by saying that I don't drink. Â I went there with my wife and friends for dinner, and I was blown away. Â The appetizers were phenominal , the pizza perfect, but my favorite part was the desert. Â The ice cream is homemade, and the flavors were different, yet unbelievable. Â The staff is great, the ambiance perfect, and I will definitely be going back.
Review Source:We've been there twice. Â The first time we went with a local Laguna Beach friend for their happy hour evening ... can't remember what night it was but she said they have a happy hour evening with reduced prices each month. Â We ordered a pizza and it was good and we both had a glass of happy hour Pinot Noir -- it was enjoyable. Â A radio station is located upstairs and they had a guitar players/singer performing -- he was okay but the music was so loud that you couldn't have a conversation and it makes your head ache to sit near the music.
We decided to give it another try one evening as we were passing through Laguna Beach. Â Again, another guitar/singer performing and this time the music was even louder! Â Seriously, why play the music so loud when it's a small venue. Â I literally had to stick my finger in my ear at one point because of the volume.
It would be a great place if they would either skip the live entertainment or at least turn down the equipment to be at volume that allows people sitting next to each other to have  conversation without having to yell to one another.
They seem to be popular and are pretty crowded. Their pizza is good. Â The wine by the glass selection is decent. Â It's a 3 star experience for me -- could be raised if I ever stop by when some live musical performer isn't blasting the volume.
Who said a tiger can't change their stripes? Well, this one goes out to all my loved ones who think I'm too stubborn to change my ways. But the truth is, I am updating my review to let those of you paying attention that I stand corrected. The Wine Gallery has made amends and I have become a fan. They have changed the hours, it is easier for me to be a patron now and although I have not been more than couple times, I like what I see. I admit, I tried the sliders and it was not very good, sort of a meatball between too much bread, but the other food looks appealing enough to go back and try more. The beers are great. I love that they have embraced craft/micro brews and have a flair for the locals. I like the wine options. My hubby was impressed by the wine taps that seem to be popping up all over the place. There was live music the night we went and I love the community tables. I admit my desire for more and hope to become more enamored with the food that looks great. I the mean time, I'll take another Cismontane Mesa!
Review Source:I love the wine gallery. I originally went to the CDM one which is quite a different feel from this one, and was excited to try the new location. Lots of fabulous wines and the food was super tasty!! The wine flights are a little pricey but the ambiance and tasty food almost make up for it. Definitely a cute spot for some wine tasting in Laguna!
Review Source:In addition to it's great selection of bottled wine, they have now opened a restaurant.
The restaurant is super cool and the food is amazing!!! The short rib tacos are my favorite. The pizza is also amazing. The decor is cool and welcoming. It's a great place to meet people, drink, and it great food! I will definitely be going back.
What a GREAT addition to Laguna Beach. Â Has a great vibe, it's casual and though you would think it is all about the wine...it is all about the food and the wine and the beer and the energy. Â Can't say enough about what this owner has added to Laguna's restaurant selection in the CASUAL and FUN and DELICIOUS department!
Review Source:I use yelp often but have never actually written a review. This week I hosted a private party at the Wine Gallery and it was so phenomenal, I had to take the plunge and write my first.
From making a reservation to deciding on a menu and wines, all while being 3,000 miles away, Matt made things very easy. I just set a budget and gave them a vague idea of what I wanted and left the rest up to the Wine Gallery. They were very accommodating of food allergies as we had a few in our group.
The food is absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. The fig & goat cheese bruschetta is a must try and was enjoyed by even the least adventurous eaters in our party. This is one of those places that you can tell the owner's heart and soul goes into the wine selection, so make sure to take advantage of that. Many unique and varied options for any taste. I highly recommend Chris's Pinot Noir.
The atmosphere and service was what really made the event special. The thoughtful, relaxed, wine-themed decor is beautiful without being overdone and the staff really made sure that everyone in our party was having an excellent meal.
First, let me say that this was the third time that I've been to this establishment. The first two times was right after opening and the experience was tainted by the typical things that even the very best restaurants endure when launching. This time I felt that it was long enough after my last visit and that the operation would be running as well as it ever would.
The name of the restaurant is the Wine Gallery. I started by ordering a bottle of wine. The wine was out of stock. OK not a problem. The bartender offered a couple of alternatives. Great! Can I have a taste of these alternatives. Sorry they're only available by the bottle. OK, again no problem. I'll just keep looking. Ah I see another bottle. So sorry we're out of it. 0 for 2. Wine Gallery! Really? Then I get a lame excuse about it being Saturday. Now I don't know where his distributors are located. Maybe in Outer Mongolia. But I've been in this business for years. Every reputable restaurant  operation will be well stocked for the weekend. Especially if wine is your thing.
OK it doesn't get any better. So we order food. A pizza to be exact. The special of the day. The pizza oven is roughly 12 feet from where we sat. How it came out cold boggles my mind. Your in a service business. You've just struck out with your customer on two bottles. By the way, did I mention that after all this I ordered a $95.00 bottle? So I think that I was reasonable. No apologies for the pizza just another lame BS excuse about the heat retention properties of pizza. I'm 50 years old and from New York. This guy knows wine and pizza. After the pizza was thrown back into the oven and served promptly it had no problem retaining heat.
Rarely does a patron give an establishment have an opportunity to have a second and third chance. I can tell say without reservation that there will not be a fourth.
Advice: Call ahead to see if they have wine at the Wine Gallery. You never know.
Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful owner behind the bar. Gave good suggestions. I stopped in for a gift certificate and stayed for a glass of wine. Next go round I will definitely indulge in some cheese.
This was a really really slow night, which I'm sure is unusual. This place has a good vibe and friendly staff (a lot of staff on this particular evening considering the guest to server ratio- better to be overstaffed than understaffed though.)
I'm excited to go back!
came here to meet a gf around 745 on a saturday night. i walked in and the place was packed. i was however quickly greeted and made aware that a couple of seats would be opening at the bar shortly.
the decor of the place makes you feel very comfortable and cozy, yet it is modern and wine inspired without being cheesy (think: lots of ways to use a cork) the U shaped bar is in the center of the restaurant, small two and four person tables scatter the left side and on the right, there is one large table to accommodate probably about 10. a couple tvs are around the bar and had the NFL playoffs on.
the menu has a good selection of wines by the half glass, full, bottle and carafe. they also carry about six craft beers. food consists of small plates as well as large and a handful of pizzas cooked before you in the wood fired oven. i wouldn't say anything on the menu was overly unique but it is like they have selected your favorite items off every other menu you've seen.
we had actually already eaten dinner so just went with a cheese platter: brie, salami and their fig and goat cheese bruschetta (phenomenal)
chris is the owner and was working behind the bar, he was helpful and friendly with all the customers, even thanking patrons for their support. try his pinot noir :)
i never went to the CDM location as it never really drew me in (seemed to focus more on retail sales than an actual wine bar), but the environment here is perfect for date night or catching up with girlfriends. i will definitely be back, and this time save my appetite.
Nice addition to Laguna. Â The wine was very good. Â Particularly liked the carafes of wine from the kegs. Â These were very tasty and a bit more cost effective. Â The pizza was wonderful. Â It occurs to me that you could think of this as a wine bar or an upscale pizza place, and both would work well.
Review Source:Wine selection was nice.. over priced but what you would expect from a coastal laguna wine bar. Â Decor was nice and I could.have done without the tvs but I know some people won't go out unless there is a tv. What I didn't expect was the incredible number of crying coughing children. Although it was dinner time on a Sunday night and they apparently have good pizzas and ice cream, I prefer a certain calm, adult atmosphere in a wine bar and that is not the experience we had here. We even witnessed a tiny girl who had been watching Dora the explorer on an iPad the entire time we were there fall to the floor from the tall (not intended for children) bar stool. Cool place but I prefer less whine with my wine.
Review Source:Love the bruschetta, sausage pizza, frites with truffle ketchup, and homemade sorbets. Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Â Cozy yet stylish vibe... This place has it nailed for a perfect casual date spot AND meet-up with friends. Service is laid-back but attentive. Â Great spot in Laguna- highly recommend.
Review Source:Love, love, love this new addition to Laguna Beach. Â Great ambiance - warm, inviting decor and vibe. Â The food is creative and the menu offers plenty of options but is not overwhelming. Â Love every single wood fired pizza on the menu! Â The grilled vegetable platter is outstanding and the beet and burrata salad is incredible. Â The steak and fries are enhanced by the Wine Gallery's many great wines by the glass. Â Staff is super friendly and helpful. Â Most live locally, which is a nice touch. Â Perfect for a date or just a night out with a group of friends. Â Easy to dine solo at the bar, too!
Review Source:This place is exactly what south of town need! What an amazing spot! The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect! The surf and turf pizza might be the best pizza ever! The wood fired pizza oven really makes the difference! Great bar area too. Can't wait to go back next week - or maybe sooner!
Review Source:not bad as an option in the limited pool of Laguna Mod dining experiences... recommend the burrata and beets, the fungi pizza and of course the great wine selection. lacking some finess but overall a good experience for Sunday night light dinner (missing fresh grated parmesan (for salads and pizza), cracked red pepper (would have been nice at the table for the pizza), and salsa for the fish tacos)
Review Source:Where have you been all my life. This place combines two of my loves good pizza and good wine. We tried the cheese plate and the fig bruschetta  and both were delicious. The big surprise of the night were the scallops which were out of this world. The wine list is truly remarkable and reasonably priced.  The pizza is a winner also. We had the spicy salami pizza and it was very good. They are not kidding about the spice as it singed our taste-buds and dazzled them at the same time. Needless to say we will be back
Review Source:Everything about Laguna Beach Wine Gallery is INCREDIBLE!! All the food was great! My favorites were the mussels, which had the most amazing sauce, and the surf and turf pizza, which was an awesome combination of proscuitto, clams and garlic.
The wine selection is very large and they have expanded their beer selection at this location. All the staff is very knowledgable! You can tell they take pride in their jobs because they go out of their way to make sure you love your glass of wine.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very cool! There is a bar in the middle that faces the pizza oven, which would be great for an appetizer and a glass of wine. There are also various sized tables surrounding the bar for a great dinner either for two or a group.
Overall, this place is a definite MUST! If a restaurant is amazing during their soft opening, you know it is going to be a huge hit!!
The new Wine Gallery location is awesome. Â Not only do they have great wine, but they have now added 5 craft beers on tap, along with a few wines on tap! Â Their menu is also delicious. Â The wood fire pizza oven puts out some amazing pizzas, you have to try the seafood one!
The ambiance sets the mood for a great glass and a great night. Â I definitely recommend.
This a brand new location. The 2nd sister location to CDM Wine Gallery in Corona Del Mar. This location has it dialed, more tables, more seats, bigger wine/ bar tasting area. They still have the flat screen TV and a large shared table. Lots of new tasty food items on the menu- come hungry. IF you live in Newport- take a cab home!
