From the martinis, to the house salad, to the entrees, a solid 5. Best dining experience in Palmyra in three years. Quirky martinis were a great starter (lake breeze, the blues) the house salad was fresh and had reasonable ingredients, both entrees had scallops which are tricky, and both were near perfect. My medium-rare steak was actually medium-rare. Service was attentive just up to the point of  too much attention.
Review Source:I am never quite sure how soon to visit a new restaurant after opening. Â It usually takes a bit to work out the kinks, but Lake Bistro did a fine job.
DH and I met some friends there for dinner, excited about having a new dining option out in the wilds of Fluvanna County. Â The space, which was formerly occupied by the old Lakeside Grill, has been given a bit of a facelift. Â
The menu seems to have a number of nice offerings but seems to concentrate on having key favorites instead of trying to be all things to all people. Â Â All 4 of us opted for the Surf-and-Turf special - a 4oz filet wrapped in bacon and a small lobster tail - for $16.95. Â As my meal came with wild rice and sauteed vegetables, I skipped the side salad that one could add. Â The food came promptly with everyone's filet correctly cooked to order. Â Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal and the professionalism of our server.
For dessert, we opted for the Lemon Berry Mascapone Cake, which was the real star
of the evening. Â Sweet, creamy but with a hint of tartness from the lemon and blueberries. Â So be sure to save room for this when you go!
