As it has been pointed out by several others before, this is one of the few places left in town where you can smoke inside. Â You can smoke at your tables when eating dinner. Â So, keep that in mind when you go there.
Personally, I don't smoke (anymore), but my husband likes to smoke while having a drink, so we come here from time to time.
The drinks are cheap and the beer selection is pretty broad.
The food is actually surprisingly tasty. Â When you first walk in, you'll get hit with a wave of old bar/smoke smell. Â You wouldn't expect the food to be even edible, but it's actually pretty good.
The wings are tasty and spicy. Â We got the medium and they definitely packed a punch. Â Their burgers are delicious and several of their sandwiches are worth coming back for, too. Â I like the fried chicken wrap.
They also have trivia night here, so all in all this is a fun place to come have a drink, grab a bite to eat and hang out with your local crowd.
Before I dive into my review of Laseter's Tavern... I'll note one important thing for you:
This is a smoky dive bar... period! Â Don't waste your time if you can't handle (a) smoky or (b) dive bars.
That out of the way, I'll hit what else you wanna know:
- Good standard bar grub
- Decent prices (especially for the area)
- Great beer selection with an up-to-date chalk board
- Cigar friendly
- Consistently attentive service
- Programmer has great taste in music
Not much else to add to that! Â We've been back, a few times now, and even sat in on their trivia night once (a good time). Â If the smokiness won't bug you (please -- seriously -- read up first and save us the review where you complain about it), stop in and grab a pint; you'll be back, again, if you do!
Lemon Pepper wings are my favorite and to date, Laseters are the very bestest in town. Â How do I explain this? Â Lemon Pepper wings should not be gooey or greasy - they should be dry, almost powdery. Â The lemon should almost make you pucker with the pepper kicking in with that spicy punch. Â Laseters reads my mind. Â YUM.
This was after a night of beer tasting and popcorn eating, so we needed some food and wings were mentioned and I was told by a reliable source that these were the best wings. Â Little did Heidi know that she and I had the same love for the Lemon Peppery goodness of non-Buffalo wings.
I also ordered some Fried Mozzarella. Â I love me some cheese, especially when fried and served with a yummy marinara sauce. Â But how do I explain this - these are the largest, almost obnoxiously so, mozzarella sticks. Â And they are delish. Â But be forewarned - you have to be careful when picking them up when they are hot as they will break right in half. Â They are also some of the gooiest cheese sticks around. Â So good.
I will say, this place is super smokey. I am not a fan of the smokey. No matter how good the wings are, I could not stay here for long. Â Next time I might opt for take out - I just hope the wings are as good when on the go.
