Ok So The Last Shot In South Elgin Is not the Ambassador East. It is however one of the most entertaining places I have ever been. True the Last Shot ran into some Hard times with money but that has changed and they will be reopening soon.
As far as the atmosphere of the place. There are truck drivers sitting with business men- Bikers with sales managers Coiwboys with writers and most of all the fantastic singers and musicians that drop in to be appreciated and to give the crowd the best free shows next to Chicago. The bar tenders are always personable and funny and at times the show in themselves. Â I personally am sick of the YUPPIE bars with their
dumb ass Paradise by the Dashboard music and their designer beers. Give me the
real thing. Hooray for the Last Shot. Looking forward to reopening day and seeing all those wonderful crazy people that make this bar the unique experience that it is,

Very drab and rundown bar....my band was supposed to play the New Year's show here. Got screwed out of that, but I'll get to that later...the place was an absolute shithole in the middle of nowhere, dirty as hell, the lights didn't work in the bathrooms and the only source of light we had in there was one little candle on top of the urinal.. The free buffet wasn't much of a buffet at all and what they did have was cold..drinks were way overpriced ($3.75 for a 12oz bottle of MGD?!?! WTF?!?!) Hardly any space, the room simply is not suited for live music. It was WAY too loud and harsh in there. Also they did the New Year's countown 18 minutes too early!!! Did they not even have a working clock in there?? Now here's the cherry on the big fucking ice cream sundae, are you ready?! The bar owner did NOT renew their motherfucking liquor license for 2013 when they had a HUGE New Year's bash planned that night that has been planned since MID NOVEMBER!!!!! My band kept getting details changed on us, there were no solid details until the day of. We went from going on at 11pm to not going on until 2 in the motherfucking morning! And since the bar owner decided not to renew their license, the cops came and shut everything down and we didn't even get to play. Ended up having to drive all the way back. We came all the way out from Joliet, by the way. Not exactly a close drive. Never again. I will never book another show here, or come here ever again for that matter, and I'd strongly suggest anyone who is passionate about music and/or drinking does the same! Shut this place down while you're behind...
Review Source:Quite the little hangout. Â It was an interesting night to say the least, but much fun was had and bartenders Mary and Ashley are fantastic!! I'll go back just because of them.
They just need to ditch whatever that rap/lip-sync performance thing was. This is a rock and roll bar.
Hi Ashley! :-)
