You definitely get your money's worth and then some. Good size portions. This is a very small old neighborhood bar. You go there to eat and drink. You definitely don't go there for the ambience. The owners and bartenders are very personable and friendly. They are very well known for their Friday fish fry. This little bar gets slammed on Friday.
Review Source:First of all - this place does NOT take credit cards!! Â Leave your plastic at home and bring your cash. Â This is not stated on the menus nor the front door so be warned here!
We went on a Saturday night on recommendation from my husband's coworker. Â Had a wonderful meal and great service. Â My husband got the rib dinner for $11.50, I got a half fried chicken dinner for $9. Â We shared our meals and honestly, they were both absolutely off the charts yummy. Â He had a beer, I had a couple of cocktails, and our bill was only $33. Â Unbelievable value.
The building and interior are not anything fancy - remind me of a resort town bar in Wisconsin. Â Lots of beer signs and simple decor. Â I won't even suggest it needs updating because it is what it is and the decor is very bar-like.
Our server was incredibly sweet and apologetic about the cash thing (no, we didn't know, and tried to pay with a credit card) ... she told us where the closest ATM was. Â Told her we'd be back next weekend so she gave us a take out menu and explained the menu very thoroughly to us. Â She told us that the Mexican Pepper Steak, when served, is so popular that people call ahead of time and "reserve" it. Â Some people reserve extras to take home and freeze!
