The food and wine make this place a must on ones  journey for tasting a bit of paradise, in the wake of a hard week! A go to for those in the need of a short but tasty get away.

Love this place! Love the atmosphere, the experience, the food options, the service. Everything! except maybe parking. But there is valet down the street.

I strongly recommend the wine tasting with food pairing. Super fun and interactive.

I also loved the art and the live music.

    Can't wait to come back!

    Love Love Love this place!!!

Perfect for date night and great for small groups! Live Jazz music playing in the background def added to the relaxed atmosphere!

The wine & food pairing is a must to start with! Four glasses of wine & five pieces of appetizers for $28 per person. This is such a fun experience and if your group ordered the same wine flight, it is a great conversation starter! Perfect for people who may be on a first date :)

The food is amazing!!! All of the appetizers in the food pairing tasted amazing!! We are had lots of wine left from the pairing so we ordered some small plates and then later some entrees to share, all delicious!!!  The melted Brie small bite was amazing!! It is served warm! So yummy!! The gratinee of mushroom and toasted baguette with salmon gravlax are also very delicious and great choices!!! We also tried the Roasted Chicken with mushrooms and the grilled New York steak entrees, both were cooked to perfection!

The service was outstanding! Toby really took care of us! He was very welcoming and funny!  Food service was fast and the staff was really nice!

We found parking on the street around the corner and there wasn't a wait, which is nice for Friday night.

    Can't wait to return!!

I won't bore you with a lengthy review.

    Service - 5 stars
    Atmosphere - 5 stars
And most importantly food - 5 stars

A gem in the sea of mediocre Marina Del Rey restaurants. I will be returning and often.

Everything a great meal should be, and then some!

Just returned from a wonderful evening at Le Cellier.  Wine flight with appetizer plates (one Rhône, one Pinot Noir), 2 main courses (chicken & bbq ribs with lemongrass - YUM on both!), more wine, and an astonishing dessert with ... you guessed it... more (dessert) wine, and Hubby and I are as happy as can be.

I found the restaurant via Yelp, so it's only fair I give back.  Le Cellier is everything I hoped it would be:  unpretentious, stylish, classy; with outstanding food (we just moved here from NYC.  We're food snobs.), with prompt and friendly service.  Not cheap but worth every penny.  We will certainly come back and already thought of a couple of friends we want to take here.

Merci beaucoup, Le Cellier, pour une soirée extraordinaire!

Recently discovered this place. It's easy to pass by, but it's really sweet inside. Perfect date place with dim lighting and food to share.

Gratinee of Mushroom - bacon makes most things better, right? The tiny chunks of bacon made this dish. It's a hearty small plate.

French Onion Soup - the most disappointing dish. Supposedly with gratinee coutons, but far from the traditional french onion. It was watery, and the "croutons" ended up being soggy bits of bread - not the browned cheesy crust that melts into the soup. For a place that touts itself as part French, it was unappetizing.

Bison Meat Balls in Vung Tau Pernod Tomato Sauce - my favorite of the evening. Despite its name, far from licorice tasting. The rich tomato sauce smothered gamey morsels.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp - another good small plate/appetizer. You definitely taste the lemongrass with a touch of char.

Charcuterie, with rillette, jambon de bourgogne,  terrine de pate de campagne au poivre and saucisson sec

Sautéed Red River "Mekong Delta" Fish in Turmeric - I have never heard of this fish. I still have no idea where one can obtain this fish. In fact, a google search while dining on it turned up little information about this fish. Regardless, it was delicious. Swimming in a turmeric-based tomato sauce and onions. It typically comes with bacon, but I had it without (points for their accommodating nature). My only hiccup is it comes on a platter, one bowl with the fish separated from a bowl of cold rice noodles. Disproportionate amount of dry noodles compared to the delicious bowl of the tender flaky fish. I could have done without the noodles. p

Speaking of accommodating, we were curious as to whether they had head cheese. (Too much Bourdain/Zimmerman for us). And they did! And brought out.

The bartender is nice and conversational. He created the different wine tastings with pre-printed forms on which one can place each different wine, make notes and take home.

It's quaint, cute and dishes out some hit dishes. A place to relax, have a few bites and wine, and enjoy good company.

    Vietnamese French restaurant? Yes!

As a Vietnamese person - didn't think this was possible.  I am also suspicious of high end Vietnamese bc usually the food sucks and it is a scam.

This place blew me away.  The husband and I (both Viet) came one night and were blown away by how a person can honestly make a place including a menu and drinks authentic Vietnamese French cuisine.

I had the beef bourguignon, which was the best I have had and we are serious foodies who will travel over an hour for food.  The flavors were exceptional, rich and deep. High recommendation on this dish

My husband had the chef's version of Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef), I think it is on the menu as steak.  It was definitely an artistic and tasty version of the original dish that we certainly enjoyed.

Bernard was knowledgeable about the wines and we enjoyed every sip.  The chef and owner was very warm and welcoming!

We are definitely coming back and highly recommend this authentic Vietnamese French restaurant to those looking for an authentic experience that acknowledges the history of French colonization in Vietnam.

I can't say enough about how great this place is!  I celebrated my birthday here a few weeks ago.  I emailed the place a couple of weeks in advance to set it up.  The place did an amazing job accommodating all 20 guests.  The food was tasteful.  They were attentive, polite and made my birthday celebration fantastic.  I cannot wait to go back!!!

    I really like this place.

It is a cozy little spot that features French fusion food.  The smell of fresh baked bread fills the room upon entrance.

The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions.

For lunch, there is a $15 special that includes a sandwich, beer or wine, and dessert.  I have had the ratatouille and the steak tartine.  The steak sandwich was fantastic.  The bread is deliciously fresh baked.  The herbs are refreshing.  I did not like the mustard--far too overwhelming for the delicate herbs.  The fruit was sweet and a perfect ending.

The ratatouille with eggs was also very good.  The vegetables were perfectly cooked in a careful sauce.  The eggs were delightfully runny.  The bread was the perfect flavor mop.

    I will definitely return.

Empty on a Wed night at 7.30. Pleasant space with light house music playing to give it a hip feel.
Wine flights were well thought out and no doubt the owner knows his wines. Cheese plate was disappointing, "Soft Cheese, Hard Cheese" are no descriptions for a cheese plate given the potential range. Turned out that hard cheese was an average cheddar that tasted like Kerry gold, but soft cheese was Brie
Appetisers that accompanied the flight had a nice Gravadlax, too creamy a cheese, a classic small slice of salami on a toasted French bread, and a tasty mushroom gratin.
    Not bad, not great
Wok-cooked pork was salty, and lemon grass dressing was a bit overpowering with the rice. But better than a take-out for sure
Ribs were dull: sauce/rub needed spicing up. The fries were nice and hot.
Apple turnover was store bought (or tasted like it) and served with what tasted like Eddy's ice cream; not at all good
Go here for wine and beer and, if it's busy, atmosphere..

Le Cellier is a small and unassuming wine bar with delicious food full of great flavor. Everything my group ordered was awesome including the meatball appetizer, french onion soup and the pork loin. The wine and beer list was substantial and also reasonably priced - score! The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

    Love this place!

    Lemongrass pork rib was great.
    Cheese and charcuterie was great.
    Curry was great.
    Bun cha ca great.

They also have Chimay beer, which is my favorite beer ever.

Classy without being pretentious. A great place to bring a date, friends or family. They sometimes feature live music, which is a bonus.

Went here for a friend's birthday celebration. We had a large group, but the service was very attentive. We ordered a selection of appetizers and then we each ordered an entree. I tried the river fish (excellent!) and the pork loin with plum sauce. I'm not a wine expert, but I liked the ones that they recommended. I found the decor cute, but the chairs aren't the most comfortable.

Fantastic neighborhood spot that I suggest to every friend in L.A. A neighbor recommended this to me and I now go back at least twice a month. Its a rare occasion when the owner doesn't stop to chat and the service is fantastic. The beef bourguignon is my favorite dish and the wine selection is excellent.

My friend found this place on yelp and it was such a great find! When you first walk in, you are filled with the aromatic smell of freshly baked bread.  Cute decor and definitely a feel of a cozy gastropub.  Wines line the shelves on the wall as well as behind the bar.  There's also a small and quaint corner with a cozy couch; perfect comfy place to wait and chit chat.

There is a great lunch special: $15 for a wine/beer/coke/iced tea, w/ your choice of any of their sandwiches, and a dessert of either vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit.  For the sandwich, I had the flame broiled minced loin of lamb tartine.  You get a fresh baked bread, stuffed with arugula and tender slices of lamb.  The lamb was tender and well flavored w/ a hint of smokiness from the grill.  It was served alongside seasoned steak fries.  Awesome combo!

My friend had the ratatouille with sunny side eggs and a baguette.  The baguette served as a great sponge for the ratatouille.  The eggplant was very tender.  It was more like a stew because there was a lot of sauce to the dish.  And of course, anything with an egg on top is delicious.

The fresh fruits at the end was the perfectly light ending to the meal.  The fruits were fresh and very light.  I was so full, but could not resist eating all of the fruits.

Definitely need to come back and try some of the tapas they have as well as the french onion soup.  It's made w/ veal stock, the traditional way.  Can't wait to try more delicious food!

Very nice, cozy place in Marina Del Rey. Good quality food for the price, considering it is "west side"... Happy hours! The best part is a wine tasting and owners knowledge and his involvement with the wine growers he is showcasing. He is promoting wineries that grow their own fruit to make it's wine, no fruit outsourcing. Love this concept, wine, atmosphere, food. Will be back.

I hate to see small businesses fail, seriously, I do. But this place was AWFUL. Honestly, throughout the meal I felt like I was eating pre-made food from Costco, which is fine if I was actually paying wholesale. THEN our dessert came out and we were literally served  dessert that I had bought FROM COSTCO a week before (except they added a scoop of vanilla ice cream & gave it a fancy french name). Overall the food was overpriced & bland. I would have enjoyed the atmosphere, the place is kinda cute inside, if it wasn't so empty & the service wasn't so awful. So many better places to spend your money.

    Loved it!

For me, French-Vietnamese restaurants have been very sub par every time I've been to one. Usually the food is good but nothing to really be excited about.

Came to Le Cellier for a holiday lunch for work and loved everything they served. I had the ratatouille, which is a favorite dish of mine (and yes, it's mostly because of the Pixar movie) and it was really, really good. Had some pretty good wine with my dish too.

We were served all kinds of appetizers -- the gratinee with mushroom and bacon was my favorite. Soooooo good! I could just sit there with a glass of wine and eat that all night.

I also recommend the hazelnut chocolate cake, one of the best desserts I've had in a restaurant in awhile. :)

Food was good, if you have all night to wait.

We walked into a nearly empty resturaunt where the host insisted everything was reserved - after 2 hours all the tables were still empty but that's not the annoying part. The attitude is stereotypically French which is no sense of urgency and keeping everyone waiting. Waiting 25 minutes for a glass of wine while watching the French bartender (assuming the owner) drink wine chatting up other customers. Finally I had to go to the back and ask of I could please order which surprised  them like it was a special request. Keep in mind - the resturaunt is still nearly empty. This went on for 2 hours like pushing a car uphill. The unfortunate thing is - the food was really great but it's not worth the "when I feel like getting to it" attitude displayed by management.  You are going to have to do way better than that of you expect to stay in business in venice and stop pretending you are all booked its not fooling anyone. Instead pamper those who do come in, over deliver service and people will naturally fill the place up - assuming you don't let the bald french manger play bartender ever again - people will just walk out.

My review is for a private party.  If you're considering have a holiday party (or any other kind) here, you will be in good hands.

We worked with both Hiep and Bernard to come up with a food menu as well as wines that complimented our food choices.  They met with us several times as we tweaked it to come up with a combination that worked with our budget.  Bernard even let us sample some of the wines and champagnes during our meetings so we knew we were getting excellent products.

We got the name of their saxophonist and hired him as well.  He was great.  He brought someone to play the keyboard so we had nice background music during our party.  They played a couple of prearranged special songs.

The day of the party we arrived early to decorate and go over last minute details.  It was very important to Hiep that we were happy with everything.  She kept track of what appetizers the guests liked and adjusted quantities accordingly, checking with me before doing anything that might exceed our original proposal.  The food was delicious.

We had a special drink that we wanted to serve and custom glasses for serving them, and they accommodated us with this.  The welcome drinks were a little slow to get in guests' hands but I think that was more due to the perfectionist in Bernard who wanted to serve everyone at once, which is not an easy feat with a frozen drink and sixty guests.

All of the staff worked very hard to make things wonderful for us.  Bernard taped the entertainment portion of the show and they sent us a little movie clip of the footage.  That was a very nice touch.

There were a couple of things that came up as the night was going along, but all items were resolved when I talked to the staff.

We came in under budget which was nice too.

Our guests had a great time and I'm sure Le Cellier will have some new customers from our guests.  We were really happy with our experience!

One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in LA, and anywhere!!! Tasty food, though not amazing (esp lame appetizers) and awful awful service! I don't tend to rate restaurants on service much, since I'm there for the food, unless the service is really horrible. Which it is here.

First my company had paid for valet service for our event, but there was none. Calling the restaurant, the first person who answered didn't know what I was talking about and the girl he handed the phone to next kept claiming the valet guy was right outside, to drive by.  I told her I drove by and he wasn't there and invited her to go check herself. She did and said "Oh yeah, I guess he's not here. Should have been here. Park on the street then."

We got seated but our order wasn't taken for a long time. The server was friendly but lousy - our table kept running out of water (they serve it in bottles) which was never refilled. When we asked we'd get only one bottle at a time when it was clear it wasn't enough for 8 people.

The appetizers were not very tasty. We had the lamb fingers, egg rolls, brie bites, and eggplant caviar. Only the eggplant was tasty, the rest we did not care for. The main course was tasty - we had the chicken and mushrooms and the red river fish.

I was kind of full by then and expecting to also have desert (chocolate cake which tasted more like tiramissu and was tasty) so I hardly touched my main course. I asked to have it boxed. My box never arrived and so I finally had to ask. I was told someone had accidentally THROWN IT AWAY!! I asked if I could have another portion and was told to wait. But news never came back so when I asked again I was told "they didn't make any extra". But then 10 minutes later a couple walked in and we saw them order and soon receive the exact same order. So they had "extra".

So then I asked to be given some extra chicken to take home and was told to wait. Again nothing happened so 10 mins later I asked what happend and was told some elaborate lie about how the girl on my table was now claiming the chicken they were making for me as compensation. Ridiculous!!!! The least they could do is offer me a desert for free or something like that, I've never seen a more unapologetic place. We just left at that point.

Perhaps this all seems petty or spoiled but I honestly wasn't being a pain. I just think that when a place makes the mistake of throwing away your very expensive and almost untouched food the should show a bit more regret and desire to compensate and make it up to you as best as they can. Instead I was ignored, lied to my face, and otherwise made to feel like I didn't matter whatsoever.

If the food was to die food perhaps I'd have given them 2 stars despite the awful service but it really wasn't that amazing. Tasty main course and desert but not amazing, esp. for the price.

Disappointed and never going back, ever.

been here a couple times and both experiences were great!

visit 1: late dinner, not much appetite between my man and me. i ordered the seafood soup and eggplant/mushroom appetizer. he got the tenderloin medallions and we both enjoyed our meal. had a few glasses of wine and they were all pretty good.

the french guy there was extremely friendly and took his time with us. he opened a new bottle of wine for us to try. at the end of the meal, we declined dessert/coffee (as we weren't hungry to begin with), but the french guy surprised us with a complimentary cup of espresso (he told us it was superrr amazing but we still said no). but now i say YES! great espresso with a cute dollop of whipped cream on top.

visit 2: i got the seafood soup again (it's pho-like and i was drinking all day so this really hit the spot for me) with the red river fish. the fish was good but the noodles that came with it needed a little more flavor/sauce/spice/something. ordered a bottle of white. service was IMPECCABLE. our waiter was "tobi-wan" on the receipt (i'm guessing it's just tobi but he's a total service jedi). his timing was perfect, we never felt like we had to wait too long, nor did we felt rushed.

jazz band was great and we left them a tip but there wasn't a tip jar.

this place is underrated (it's never quite full) and we'll be returning. i simply love the service there, which is hard to find in LA. some places take forever to serve you even though there are 5 people in the restaurant. i'm pretty surprised by the bad reviews they got but it's gonna be our new go-to place!

A safe place for dinner, that is all.
This French/Vietnamese fusion wine bar, is great for dinner if you have no other choices or enjoy overpaying for food. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating but apparently that was not enough to bring the clientele. It was 7:30pm and there were only 3 tables sitting for service in the entire place. It is a wine bar as well, and I am guessing that is how they make their profits-either that or by overcharging people. I had the Paella and my friend had a chicken fusion. We had the cheese platter as an appetizer and it was not really worth the 14 since they were meager slices. The food was ok, nothing really great. The tables uncomfortable and the place very exposed, not making it an enjoyable service, would come only if I couldn't get reservations somewhere else. Will unfortunately have to come back many times because i am too lazy to drive to the good places and I know I will never had to wait to sit here.

    Wine tasting - do it.

If this was in any other city, the place would be packed.   Live jazz on Weekend nights.   Fabulous happy hour prices and food quality.  Wide variety of French wines.  Fantastic, relaxing night for food and wine, even dancing if you prefer.

we came in for a quick glass of wine and happy hour appetizers ($4 each) and ended up staying here for over 3 hours.  Knowledgeable French chef loves his wines - his name is Bernard -  and I suggest you talk to him and get to know him more.  It was a treat to hear his wine pairing philosophy - which opened our eyes completely.

We had some excellent wines i ve never tasted before.  Solid Vietnamese food in addition to traditional and modern French bistro-type food were surprisingly high quality at reasonable price for solid quality French food.

But  the wine tasting was FANTASTIC and EYE OPENING.  I've done hundreds of wine tasting - and this was one of the most educational experience wine tasting.  Just try the wine tasting paired with food - it will open your eyes.

Bernard the chef-owner from South of France has experience in France, Tokyo, and LA French restaurants - some of the places are top of the top French establishment.
He even consulted for JAL food for intl flights, which used to offer one of the best western airline food for business and first class in the Pacific.  The best of all, he welcomed me with sincere gestures and attention to detailed.  I loved hearing his philosophy on wines - and I was surprised by the whole tasting experience.  When I questioned the taste of one of the wines, he opened a new bottle to check the quality of the first one - and he didn't have to do that.

I wish I had lived closer to here - but then again, I'd be here too often and too drunk.

My husband and I will not be returning.

We went after receiving a gifted Groupon (or Amazon Local or some other deal site) certificate for their wine and chocolate tasting. We decided to have dinner there first.

The food was mediocre to bad. The $9 grilled marinated shrimp consisted of three extremely overcooked small shrimp that were like chewing on rubber balls. They were absolutely disgusting.

I made a mistake and ordered the salmon which was too simple. I should have known better than to order something that I could have made myself with little effort.

When it was time for wine tasting, we found out that it's actually a Champagne tasting. Neither of us are much interested in that and were really disappointed. The chocolates were good, but alas they buy them from another shop.

The service was lacking. The staff were kind of eery. They seemed a bit zombie like and were totally disorganized. I ended up telling them several times that we BOTH would be having the wine tasting, but for some reason, they had a hard time grasping the concept. When the bill came, they didn't apply the certificate. Ten minutes later when we were finally able to flag them down, they took the bill back to fix it. They brought it back with the correct price, so I gave my credit card. They ended up charging my card the original full price though. When I finally was able to explain them, he took the bill back again and fought with the computer for several minutes to fix it.

Best part of the evening: When we finally got out of there.

I was in LA for a conference at the Marriott nearby. Another attendee and I wanted to grab a snack/drinks before having dinner with some of my friends. We were wandering around when we decided to see what this place was about.

    Good choice.

We were welcomed warmly and seated at the bar. As we discussed what wine to get, the French guy offered to let us try something. It was very a very yummy French red that was surprisingly affordable (very good because the expense account doesn't cover booze). We decided to split a bottle, ordered snacks, and chatted - both with each other and with the French guy (who kept popping up to discuss food politics and wine).

When my friends arrived, we moved to a table. There was a lot of talking and catching up, but the wait staff was patient and brought us more glasses to finish the bottle. Eventually we ordered, I had the seafood soup. It was delicious and light, and had great flavors. I would have loved some good bread for the broth, but the meal was very good.

Overall, the service was wonderful. If I lived nearby, I'd come in often to try new wines.

This place was a real treat! Having travelled to Vietnam and loved the food, I wanted to try this fusion restaurant  which I'd heard so much about, I was oh-so-very pleasantly surprised.

Arriving for dinner we were greeted promptly with big smiles and introduced to an ample and pleasing wine menu (i do love wine!). The room was lovely and spacious so you feel like you can enjoy your privacy unlike some places where they like you to touch elbows with your neighbor. A relaxed ambiance and simple elegant decor to enjoy your meal and company.

We started with the La Lot fingers with ginger sauce - such a wonderful combination of succulent meat and ginger, divine, i was certainly left wanting more. For mains we enjoyed the Mekong fish with turmeric - so delicately flavored, I'm a huge fish fan and this pairing really complemented the fish without over powering it's delicacy. We also tried the wok fried pork loin in plum wine sauce - interesting flavors all sitting together in happy marriage of aromatic spices. It was an interesting mix of the French and Vietnamese, not your run-of-the-mill menu, tout simplement délicieux.

The wine connoisseur was particularly charismatic! I loved that he was so energetic and passionate about the wine, helping us selected a great bottle with our meal, he said they also do wine flights, quite different from most places and something i would definitely come back and try.

Service was very attentive and i thought it was well sized (French Style) portions and reasonably priced too.

It was a shame it was quiet when we visited but i do very much looking forward to coming back and trying some new offerings.

    Real rating: 4.5S

    Food: 5S
    Service: 4S
    Ambiance: 4.5S

The food is really good. I actually came once when they first opened and wasn't as impressed. The place seems to have ironed out the kinks and my mouth watered...we, my sister and her kids, had the tumeric chicken wings for appetizer, duck sandwich, the sauteed red river fish and wok fried pork dish. We had some it before...3 mohths ago and we all agree it's better now.

I did enjoy the selection in beers and wines.  I like that they have Hue beer...but the big thing for me is Malbec wine...my favorite since visiting Mendoza.

The place is very nice but a bit empty.  I guess that's part of an openly new restaurant. I wish it success because we look forward to coming back.

Hell yes I am loving this place.  We had a great dinner (wok pork) along with some great wine.  I just had a glass of cab and the hubby ordered a tasting which was a lot of fun.  The meal was perfect and the service was fantastic.  Our server (Ben) was super helpful, as it was our first time trying this restaurant out.  We also tried a dessert wine that I had never hear of before and it was super delicious.  I forget the name but it was a white wine that tasted like a port....really unusual.

We mostly came here for dinner but one of the upsides of this being a wine bar too was that there were no kids in the restaurant. Nothing against kids--but I want an adult meal sometimes.  Just a nice, relaxing atmosphere.

We will be visiting this place again soon!

It never ceases to amaze me how folks can raise the funds to open a restaurant and go through the hassle of the entire process of starting a new business and then open their doors to something like this. It would make sense if they were laundering money- but when we ventured to this neighborhood place, not one other person was there! Which, as you can imagine, takes a whole lotta balls and hunger to continue to venture into when, at prime eating time the rest of the west side is packed.

Food-eehh, could be more flavorful/ spicy. Take a few items off the menu-

All in all, I have to give it to the staff. They were attentive if not strange and probably wondering why we were there.  When we entered there was this strange X Files feeling like at any moment the staff was going to rip off their heads. We also got the feeling that the staff were secretly being held up and we were just waiting for the gun men to appear.

We would have been so lucky... Please, please owners of Hinano and China Beach. Take a look at the lighting. Nobody wants to feel like formaldehyde frogs from middle school who are about to get their intestines flung across the room. Change the lighting if that's all you can manage.

But my husband is still complaining about the migraine he developed going there three weeks ago. Jeez even writing this is giving me flashbacks.

The other reviews on their horrific service was not a joke. They are awful. Unorganized. Completely have no idea what is going on.

I asked for lemons five times. and when i got anything finally I got limes.

It was unclear who my waiter was... there were what seemed like three waiters and they all had no idea what was happening and when my dishes were coming out.

The food is tasty, but I had the Valentine's Day set menu (forced to do that and when it was time to order t 8:30 they had already run out of one of the options) so I didn't get to try as many items as I'd like to.

You really need to wait a little before going here unless you are ready to deal with horrendously unorganized service.

I don't like to write negative reviews.  Really, I rarely ever do it, but in this case, I feel compelled to explain why my first visit to Le Cellier will be my last. I hope that the owners read this, because there is potential. I actually really enjoyed my meal. I had beef loin that was cooked with onions and watercress with a delicious broth and a lime sauce. Food-wise, everyone at my table of seven was pretty satisfied (it seemed that I liked my dish the most, but again, everyone was pleased). That said, why would I only rate 2 stars???

The negative rating is all about management. Our server was fine. He wasn't memorable, but he was fine. His support staff REALLY hung him out to dry. We sat at 7:30pm. We received our dinners after 9:15pm. I wish that I was exaggerating that. While we waited, our server apologized several times as the manager (or owner...not sure) looked on nervously. On a busy night, I may excuse this, but there was one other large table and some bar patrons...not exactly slammed. Not only was the food painfully slow, it did not come out together. The mussels took about 5-10 minutes longer than the other food. One of our group was completely finished by the time any other food hit the table. Hm.

The real clincher though was how the staff handled the obvious blunder. We fully expected some kind of address from the owner/manager, and we hoped that they would restore faith in the place by offering to cover a bottle of our wine or maybe toss in some free dessert....nope. Dessertless and tired, we just asked for the check...but after 10 minutes, we still didn't have it. We asked the server what was up, and he said that the boss wanted to talk with us first. That sounded good...I was hoping to be able to leave feeling like they cared about the impression that they made on us....

So what did he say to us??? Nothing. He changed his mind, and the server brought us our check (no discount or removed items) instead. Unreal. The owner/manager gave us a very amateurish "thanks for coming!" and we all left feeling very disappointed that the boss decided that pretending that everything went great was the best way to get us to come back. Sorry, bud. On to the next!

We ordered take-out from this place a few weeks ago and LOVED everything!   We returned and ate at the restaurant and I agree with some of the reviewers that they are still working out some kinks, and even the owners will tell you it's still a soft launch.  But come on people - let's be a bit more supportive of innovative and affordable places like these coming to the neighborhood!

We brought a bottle of wine (corkage of $20) and they were kind of enough to decant it, bring over 2 glasses each for us, and recommended that we try it before and after it had been decanted which was kinda fun!  The owner came over to check in with us twice to see how things were going, she's so sweet and it's clear that they've put so much thought into the menu and they really care want customer feeback.  When the bill came, I told our waitress that the last time we ordered takeout, they had forgotten a dish, and could we have the price of that dish deducted from our bill.  She looked a bit confused (English isn't her first language so that probably had something to do with it) but she came back a revised bill - no questions asked.  Exactly how it should be!

Overall, we are huge fans of Cellier and really hope it takes off!  Can't wait to go back and try some more dishes!  We actually missed the Vietnamese apps on the front of the menu so next time we may only order apps...

Banh Mi w/ Duck Rillette - a 10!  crispy bread, deeelish tartine and the carmelized fennel/relish, absolutely loved this modern take on a traditional vietnamese sandwich

Roast Pork Loin with Plum Wine Sauce & Beef Tenderloin (2 different dishes) - incredibly fresh, strong flavor without being too overpowering, would definitely order this again

Medley of Sauteed Mushrooms over Grilled Eggplant - hands down my favorite dish, so unique and delicious, a great combo of sweet & savory (also came with sweet potatoes and shallot chips YUM)

Crab w/ Garlic Noodles / Cheese plate / Charcuterie - these were just ok....
