This is a review for a time before I knew of Yelp. I won tickets to see Rascal Flatts perform at this ultra secretive sound stage on the Fox property back in 2007 (or possibly even 2006). Someone has said about 300 people...and I could go with that. All I know is that it was a small enough environment that you could almost see nose-hairs, if you get me. I have seen this famous country group perform on several occasions, and this was my favorite. The best part was that they had to re-film the opening to a song...I think it was "What Hurts the Most" (or Sarabeth/Skin), and the intro was played SO INCREDIBLY beautifully....the radio would never play an intro that long, but oh my my how amazingly it was played!
I've never seen a concert that up close, since...and sadly, just because of tight finances, I think that was the last time I saw RF in person!
I had a lot of fun at a Live Sets gig I went to in '08. Â It's totally bizarre and felt sketchy until I was actually in the venue -- you park near some shopping mall, catch a shuttle, check in, wait forever, and finally are allowed into this promo-ed out venue with all sorts of Nissan junk and Yahoo's logo over everything. Â The actual concert is pretty good, assuming you like the band you're seeing (I saw my favorite band, so it was great). Â It's a small, intimate venue, and at least when I was there, the lead singer had the question asker pick someone from the audience and then the person asked both his/her question and the other question. Â It was way more intimate than LA concerts usually are, and a pretty special experience. Â If you ever hear about one with your favorite bands, it's definitely worth trying for it.
