We celebrated my niece's UCLA graduation at the xbar. We had a reserved room with appetizers and open bar for 2 hours. Most of us were also guests at the hotel.
*great waitress! (Telilah I think her name was)
*the appetizers tasted really good
*the dj was so rude but the manager, Nicholas, responded professionally and adequately by informing the dj to honor all requests and following up with us
*the private room was hot and needs some tlc (very stained carpet)
*unfortunately there's not a great dance area
*the tv projected on the wall outside was local news, all night, quite disappointing
*the outside patio is awesome, except for the local news that was projected onto the wall...
All in all, it was a great party place for a reasonable price.
Went there after a screening for drinks and bar food. Food was good (a little pricey) service was good. What threw me off was that they automatically add an 18% tip and charge tax on top of it. As far as I'm concerned tips are NOT mandatory and although I always tip at least 20% I was taken aback because had I not looked at my check before I signed the CC Slip I would've tipped an extra 20 on top of what they automatically added!!!
I know most of the patrons that have a few drinks in them are not going to scrutinize their check before they sign! The CC slips were on top of the check and there was the usual tip line for one to add the tip! I just think it's antics like these that just take away from a place. it's despicable. Public Service Announcement: Make sure to ALWAYS look over your bill!!!
