This is a review for a time before I knew of Yelp. I won tickets to see Rascal Flatts perform at this ultra secretive sound stage on the Fox property back in 2007 (or possibly even 2006). Someone has said about 300 people...and I could go with that. All I know is that it was a small enough environment that you could almost see nose-hairs, if you get me. I have seen this famous country group perform on several occasions, and this was my favorite. The best part was that they had to re-film the opening to a song...I think it was "What Hurts the Most" (or Sarabeth/Skin), and the intro was played SO INCREDIBLY beautifully....the radio would never play an intro that long, but oh my my how amazingly it was played!
I've never seen a concert that up close, since...and sadly, just because of tight finances, I think that was the last time I saw RF in person!

I had a lot of fun at a Live Sets gig I went to in '08.  It's totally bizarre and felt sketchy until I was actually in the venue -- you park near some shopping mall, catch a shuttle, check in, wait forever, and finally are allowed into this promo-ed out venue with all sorts of Nissan junk and Yahoo's logo over everything.  The actual concert is pretty good, assuming you like the band you're seeing (I saw my favorite band, so it was great).  It's a small, intimate venue, and at least when I was there, the lead singer had the question asker pick someone from the audience and then the person asked both his/her question and the other question.  It was way more intimate than LA concerts usually are, and a pretty special experience.  If you ever hear about one with your favorite bands, it's definitely worth trying for it.

Won a contest to see Moby here recently. BEST VENUE for a small concert ever. The only drawback is if you actually win one of these getting there two hours early and knowing that you will be on film. Otherwise, good times.

    Seriously, this was freaking awesome.
A free totally low-key Mars Volta show?!?!?!?!?!

Yea the sound sucked inside, yeah it was really corporate and staged...but whatever!!! It was a free show, and they played a really good set. They played an acoustic set first, including Televators! They haven't played that song in over like 6 years or something, aside from their new years event in San Francisco. So that was really cool!

But yea, the acoustics sounded sooo shitty. Not the band, but the sound in the room. It's horrible. But I definitely felt so VIP status when we got shuttled in to FOX studio,  basically got strip searched, went through some sketchy ass secret path, got our wristbands, and got in. ooohh man and we were on the videos broadcasted on yahoo! Oh and the Q&A part is hilarious. It's really gay that all the questions are assigned and the fans that are chosen just get to ask them.

These Nissan Live Sets are definitely really cool to check out for a free, really intimate show from pretty big names.

After the disappointment of the White Stripes canceling their World Tour, I had signed up for an exclusive invite-only show in LA for the Foo Fighters and actually got chosen!!!

Spent the day in LA and met at the "secret" pick-up location where we would be shuttled to the set. The show was being filmed for YAHOO and their series of online shows.

A lot of waiting in lines - waiting to be shuttled, waiting to be searched, waiting to go to the building, waiting to go into the set, waiting fro the band....

The stage set-up was great. The area fit about 300 people, including a ramp that wrapped the stage (people were to be standing behind the band when they played). It was mostly standing with some risers in the back, with couches and sitting areas. I was about 6 feet from the stage, including a walkway that the camera men would use for filming.

Sound was great, for both rocking and acoustic performance.
The lighting set up was awesome as well.

Overall a great experience. Would DEFINITELY see other shows there.

and BTW - the FF put on an awesome show!!!
