Who know how good or bad this restaurant is? Â We arrived at 8:29. Â Their advertised closing time is 9:00. Â We were not seated. Â The bartender/hostess/amazon at the door was totally unapologetic. Â We did, however, take advantage of the restrooms since we arrived by boat. Â Restrooms were unremarkable, thereby not salvaging the experience.
Review Source:The only two reasons to stop in here for a bite to eat are the views and the service (which saved this place from receiving a 1 star review). Â We had read the reviews and opted to stay away from the seafood. Because there is absolutely nothing else in this little town, we decided to play it safe by ordering the burgers.
Holy crap it took them FOREVER to bring the burgers out to us. They meat was okay albeit a bit too dry for my liking and definitely not worth the $60 bill (for three burgers and one brew). Â The menu described the accompanying fries as "hand cut", but they tasted and looked like frozen soggy fries.
Honestly, I really wished I had just left this town and hit the local McDonalds. Â The quality would've been surprisingly better and we wouldn't have wasted 1.5 hours on mediocre overpriced food.
If you do go there, here's my advice on what to do:
1) Â Order a brew (the "high end" brew choice is limited to Yuengling. All brews are domestics like Bud and Miller)
2) Â Enjoy the nice water views. Â
3) Â Stay away from the food
----------UPDATED-------------------
Adding the following in light of this establishment's jerkfaced comments:
I guess I should have clarified. We ordered THREE "specialty" burgers (about $13 each), two juices and two beers. Â The price of three burgers, two beers, tax and a 20% tip came to $60. Â Let's do the math:
$36: 3x sub-par BBQ burgers with soggy fries @ $13 each
$10: 2x domestic beers at $5 each
$3: 2x juices
VA TAX (4%): $1.96
SUBTOTAL: $50.96
TIP: $10
TOTAL: $60.96
Even though the food was down right shitty crap, we are still generous tippers.
Thanks to your note, we'll make it a point never to return your establishment and will definitely let our large network of friends, family and coworkers know about your very unprofessional response to our review.
Rather than criticize, you should use this review to help your restaurant. Improve the quality of your food and ask your staff "why did it take 1.5 hours for the kitchen to make three burgers"?? Â Review such as this are valuable resources for improving your business. Â Changing my review to 1-star.
Found this restaurant from my family trip to Westmoreland State Park in VA. Well, the tourist brochure says all the good stuff... I regret that we chose this restaurant for our dinner. The dozen crab "special" has too much salty powder. The seafood soup is extremely salty and the soup base felt "watery", not rich at all. The restaurant does not serve bread. Overpriced. We are definitely not coming back. Find some place else. Very very disappointed...
Review Source:Lighthouse is beginning to become our go-to place for seafood in town. Â Over the last several visits, we've had excellent meals. Â The fried scallops, oysters, and flounder have been hits each time. Â Yesterday I had steamed crabs at the end-of-the-season low price of $20/dozen. Â Service is always friendly, and drinks are kept filled, and the manager checked on us multiple times to make sure we were taken care of. Â My only two complaints are 1) sometimes the hushpuppies are a little underdone (easy fix) and occasionally the kitchen seems a little slow getting food out. Â Other than that, we've been real happy and are glad to see this restaurant doing well.

Lovely atmosphere and view of Monroe Bay. Â We ordered crabs, were told they had Number 1 in. Â They came to the table, warm; the meat was very condensed and dry. Â I asked the waitress if they'd been reheated, she politely left and asked the 'Chef'...She came back and shared with us that yes they had been reheated. Â The manager came over and shared with us that this is common practice and that everyone does it. Â I shared with him that this is a great way to share food born illnesses with your patrons. He asked if I wanted to talk to the chef. Â
Both the manager and chef should be removed.
