Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant

Is it possible to give negative infinity stars??? This place=sh!tballs. Garbage poop.

The 'sole' or whatever in their buffet tasted like a piece of old fish with ivory soap rubbed on it. I generally have a pretty high tolerance for "buffet-food" and this was worse than eating out of a dumpster. Do you want to hear the worst part? They couldn't even keep the damn thing stocked with food! Just some sad old pieces of unidentifiable former sea organisms floating in oily water.

I realize this isn't a very useful review because of the lack of details. YOU DON'T NEED ANY.

BUYER BEWARE.

I have been visiting Colonial Beach regularly my entire life and Wilkerson's has been the one constant as other places have come and gone.  It has a friendly staff, a great view of the Potomac River, and good food.  If you are looking for fancy seafood look elsewhere.  This place serves simple stuff.  If you stick with the crab cake and soft shell crab sandwiches, or the fried oysters, you will not be disappointed.  They bring hush puppies before the food and you have to be careful not to fill up on them.  They are very good.  The seafood buffet on the weekends is pricey but you get what you pay for.  If you are ready to eat a lot of food, go for it.  If not, you can order off the menu.  Every year they serve a buffet on Thanksgiving day that is a good value.

Overpriced for, as other reviewers have mentioned, a bunch of standard frozen-variety fried seafood that could just as easily have come out of a Tyson's package. Had high hopes given the location, the view, and the full parking lot, but was disappointed. A significant waste of money as far as I am concerned; even spoke to the owner about the experience. He seemed nice enough but was more interested in identifying the particular waitress involved with some slow service rather than addressing the overall morale of the employees (clearly low) or the quality of the food. Moreover, he didn't offer any kind of discount or hospitable gesture, which would, in my opinion, have at least mitigated my disappointment with Wilkerson's. Just a small sign that the owner cared - like, hey sorry, but do please come back. But no, not really.

On a pleasant note: the dining room is kind of cute-casual and the view is nice, but unless you're either starving or have remarkably low expectations for your visit to Colonial Beach, I highly recommend driving on, folks.
