Judging by all the reviews I think I must have just caught them on an off day because I really wasn't impressed at all.
First, the guy that seated us was great. Â He was genuinely friendly and seemed to really enjoy people (I'm guessing an owner or manager).
Our waitress, on the other hand, acted tired/annoyed/standoffish. Â She wasn't rude so much as she just acted like she didn't want to be bothered. Â Kinda slow on drink refills etc.
Now on to the food. Â I had a Spanish Omelet (chorizo, onions, green peppers, etc) and it was kinda bland (did not expect that from anything with chorizo!). Â They give you a salsa to go with it which I'm guessing is supposed to supplement the taste and provide some spiciness. Â It did have a little spice to it but really didn't taste very good (like Pace salsa out of a jar or something). Â The hashbrowns were overcooked and chewy.
The pancakes were good... nice and fluffy and great flavor... but they don't offer anything but maple syrup (at a pancake house? Seriously?). Â And not even good maple syrup from the taste. Â I regretted putting it on my pancakes because they were better without it.
So there's the negatives. Â Positives... cheap, got the food fast, overall friendly environment (seemed to be lots of "regulars" there), good pancakes. Â
I always give places two shots before I write them off, but this first experience was a strike out. Â One more shot.
We were regular's at Sophia's before we discovered this place. It's another Green owned breakfast joint. I wish there were more authentic Greek food items on the menu, but what is there is good. It's very similar and almost identical to Sophia's. The families of Lincoln Square and Sophia's are related - irony. However, the staff and owners of Lincoln Square are far more personable and friendly.
Review Source:Everything I've ever ordered has come just as pictured on the menu, hot, and served before I'm ever ready for a beverage refill.
Pancakes, waffles, and omelets are equally fluffy, and filling. I'vve never had to ask for more syrup, butter or anything else; it's all there on the table or brought with the food.
I've enjoyed the Greek selections for lunch and dinner; very authentic, and for those who have never dared go beyond a GYRO this is the place to ask for some suggestions on what to try for the first time.
I especially appreciate the upbeat people there. They all keep it movin' but at your table it's the "all about you" service to be commended.
Having a rough day; take a drive on over and just consume a little happiness for your mind, body, and soul..
Family run restaurant. Â Quick service. Good food.
I am always looking for someplace that has killer pancakes, so I was extremely excited to try this place. Â I ordered a cream cheese omelette and it was spectacular! Â Of course it came with pancakes which were stellar! Â My hubby just ordered a tall stack of pancakes and he was filled. Â The pancakes are nice and fluffy. Â Great! Â I will go back and try something new. Â I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good breakfast food. Â It was busy and kind of loud but that is expected for this type of a family restaurant.
Had a chance to visit this location this past sunday 7/15 with dad and sister. Â Got there around 10:45am and had about a 15 minute wait which wasn't to bad. Â First thing we hear when we sit down is a hello from our waitress and that this is only her 4th day here...Well she did a grand job.
As for the meal, both mine and my dad's were great, he went with one of thier skillett meals and loved it I went with the chicken fryed steak, eggs and such and it was very good. Â My overally picky sister order her usual cheese omlet and did not like it cause it wasn't golden yellow. Â Taste was fine, just not all yellow. Â Overall food was very good, service was very good and a good value for 3 fillings meals. Â Will return down the road...
So after reading the Yelp reviews this morning and what my friends had to say about Lincoln Square Pancake House, I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised! It was very cute inside, the outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is decorated very nicely. The food was decent, I had and omelet, it came with toast (or pancakes) and hash browns. It was standard diner breakfast which is fine with me! I love a good omelet! My bill came to $9 and some change, which isn't bad for a big breakfast. The service was standard, but pleasant. It was busy on a Sunday at 11:30 am. I can say that I would love to go back and probably will! I want to try some of the Greek dishes! LOVE me some feta!
Review Source:I've been a southsider for 11 years now. I even considered myself a southsider when I lived downtown. And for those 11 years, I'd driven by Lincoln Square Pancake House a gazillion times. A friend convinced me it was amazing, and she wasn't lying. The portions are huge and the service has always been excellent. Â Don't pass it up.
Review Source:Stopped by for breakfast and ended up getting lunch instead. Â Very lively, friendly place -- the wait staff was extremely disorganized when we were there, but they were very good natured and funny about it. Â Service was reasonably fast, food was typical for this kind of place -- both in selection and preparation.
Review Source:I went for breakfast today and had a wonderful time. I had a new item, the Greek Pita Pizza. It was made with a pita base, included gyro meat, onions, tomatoes, feta, and eggs. It was a great item, perfect for a late breakfast. The dipping sauce was also great. It comes with a side of hash browns. For $6.99, the meal was large enough to feed me twice.
I always rate breakfast places by how well my coffee cup stays filled. The staff at Lincoln Square was very attentive and terrific. Thanks Lincoln Square!
What a great "diner" experience. Â Good prices, wide variety of both breakfast and lunch items. Â Not open for dinner. Â The meat lovers omlette was great and the included pancakes made it food overload. Â Tenderloin was great according to another guest. Â Daughter had kids burger - big, I ate half, was delish.
Review Source:OMG.. If one has to be up at ungodly hours of the morning, I can't think of a better way to spend it than dining at this place. Â Mounds of food.. quick service, reasonable prices, tons of seating and food is delish! Â
Thank you for making my mornings more pleasant and taming my nocturnal tendencies. Â Highly recommend anything with syrup.. pancakes, french toast.. eggs are .. well unusually fluffy and very tasty..
Get there and start your morning off right! :)
My husband and I stopped in here last Thursday morning after a doctor's appointment at St. Francis. We debated on a couple of places, but ultimately opted for Lincoln Square. We live nearby, and have often driven past, but have not stopped in. I'd say this is mostly because the building isn't very "shiny"... Â The whole area is kinda shady, in fact.
Despite all that, I ended up being very glad that we decided to eat there. The inside of the restaurant was very NJ diner... Â right down to a highly efficient, slightly rude waitress with a Sicilian accent. Â But UNLIKE NJ diners, the restaurant was incredibly clean. The paint was fresh, as was the decor. Granted, there was a good bit of gaudiness going on (ceramic angels, artificial flowers on the tables, etc.) but I don't really care so much about that.
Another huge point in my book: The tables weren't sticky with syrup (which seems like a huge feat for a restaurant that is famous for pancakes). Â Overall, it was a very nice environment for breakfast eating.
The menu was expansive and there were lots of good combo offerings. Â I had the "Pancake Platter," which came with two pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of sausage and two pieces of bacon. Â I also ordered a side of their hash browns. Â Additionally, she had no problem with me substituting a couple extra pieces of bacon for the sausage, as I am not a fan. Â My husband got the biscuits and gravy combo and ordered one mini waffle on the side for us to sample. Â
The food arrived at the table quickly and was well cooked and hot. Â It was all really good, especially the pancakes. Â All of the food seemed really fresh, and didn't have the processed flavor of a place like IHOP. Â We'll definitely be going back.
*The only downside... Â They are only open until like 4 p.m. Â I'd love for them to have extended hours for two reasons... Â First. Â Breakfast for Dinner. Â Who doesn't love that? Â But secondly, they offer a waffles and ice cream dish that I think would make a great late night dessert.
This place has some great tasting breakfast! My wife had come here with her mom awhile back and told me about it. I was ready to see for myself how I'd like it, I was very pleased with this place. Like I said great breakfast, great service, nice decor and very clean! The service is quick, you're not waiting forever for your food, pretty much you can get in and out as fast as you want to, but why not just stay awhile and relax with a glass of orange juice or coffee if you prefer and some delicious breakfast! We will come back and have, more than a few times!!!
