The Loft

I've never had a more rude encounter at a business.  I walked in at 730 pm; clean cut, well dressed and totally sober to have a few drinks.  I'd never been there before before so I paused to look around when I got to the top of the stairs.  I was unsure if the podium set back from the entrance was for ID's or table seating.  After about 2 seconds the bouncer yelled at me like a drill sergeant; "I need to see your id!" Confused at being yelled at for no reason I answered "Yes Sir" and handed him my ID which he inspected more thoroughly than I've ever seen a bouncer do (I'm 31 btw and I find it doubtful that he suspected me of being underage) and kept looking up to glare at me.  When I took my ID back I guess I moved to quickly because he then screams at me "don't you dare snatch that out of my hand!" and stood up like he was ready to tackle me. I felt physically threatened. At this point I just walked out and took my business elsewhere.  I have no idea why The Loft hires hostile employees whom want to start fights with customers but they will never get my business nor do they deserve yours if this is how they allow their employees to act.  

I understand with all the college kids and young soldiers around they need to have thorough id checks but that does not mean they have the right to treat potential customers like criminals.  I've been plenty of other places that can manage an Id check without yelling or bowing up.

This review is only for the restaurant.  The food was pretty good, just a tad too salty.  We didn't have to wait long, which is a plus.  Will be eating here again soon, I'm sure.

I was in Columbus for a week and ended up going to the Loft twice. The first time, I had the pork chop with their Mac n Cheese. Their Mac n Cheese is by far one of the best that I've ever had! The pork chop was nice and juicy. Our server (I think Nick) was incredible and spot on.  He showed up exactly when we wanted him.  The second night my entire table ordered the filet mignon. Amazing! I ordered mine medium rare and it was cooked perfectly! They have an amazing seasoning which compliments their cut of meat perfectly. Our waitress was not as good this time though.  She seemed distracted and uninterested in serving our table, and acted as though serving food was beneath her.  Found that really out of character compared to the rest of the wait staff. In spite of the second server, would recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes here.
