This was my first time at H20 and I think my experience may have been tainted by the really annoying and sleezy guy at Rock 103 who wouldn't shut up the whole night but I am going to post my review anyway.
I did not find the atmosphere very pleasing. The inside was interesting enough as far as these places go but the acoustics are pretty bad, especially on the second floor. There is a bar upstairs and a classic stripper pole for dancing if you are the type that tends to drink too much and do embarrassing things that you regret later. Adorned on the wall upstairs are flat screen televisions that display live footage of the band that is performing. There seemed to be plenty of tables around to accommodate the crowd and I really enjoyed the crazy lights on the ceiling and translucent lighted staircase, but if you have had a lot to drink you might have some serious difficulty getting back down.
Everything was extremely loud so you will leave the place with hearing damage and might as well forget about talking to your friends while you are there. Loud is acceptable to a certain degree in clubs and usually desired for dancing but this was beyond acceptable levels and nobody was dancing. There was a pretty big dance space but mostly people were just standing around. I did enjoy watching the 60 or 70 year old couple get it on ballrioom style to House of Pain's, "Jump Around" though.
Overall, I enjoy the downtown scene much better but I thought this place was pretty decent and I would probably go again.
Positives
+ Bartenders put a lot of alcohol in your drinks
+ Lots of seating
+ Nice big open dance floor
+ Huge parking lot
+ Liquor store in close proximity for a nightcap
+ Stage for live bands to perform
Negatives
- Bartenders put a lot of alcohol in your drinks
- Excruciatingly loud music
- Not many people dancing during my visit
- Poor acoustics for the live bands
This relatively new Columbus dance club is modern, clean, has a big dance space, and is filled with cool lights and funny vortices that can lead an enebriated person to stare with uninterrupted enthusiasm. Â Cover charge is $10, drinks are about $3 for Domestic and $5 or more for import. Â The clientele seemed to be a fun and easy-going crowd full of people not afraid to get in the center stage and show some moves.
