One of the things that keeps me coming back to Beaumont (besides my family). Logon has it's problems but I think (yes I know it's their tag line), it really is a rather unique place in Beaumont. Â If you're looking for a place that is not totally overrun by moronic college kids, this is the place to be. Â If you're looking for something different than the cookie cutter experience you'll have on Crockett St, this is the place for you. It's the kind of place you could spend hours at. Come in for lunch, hang around till 4:30 (late enough for a beer) and stay for the music. Â Anyway, the beer selection could be better. Infact, thats my plea to the Logon. You're in a unique position (and you have the clientele) to offer some unique brews (something besides New Belgium... That's not hot anymore) But I digress. I think you could focus a bit more on some really gourmet, quick food instead of the same kind of think i could make at home. But I digress again. What the Logon really offers is atmosphere and great music. Â Also you get to meet some pretty interesting folks if you happen to work behind the bar for 5 years.
Review Source:Five stars because the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The Logon has long shown a commitment to bringing in really good music - the best local and touring talent. Beer selection is good, food and coffee selections solid, and the old school tradition of an internet cafe is intact. The owners and staff here have shown a long term commitment to building and maintaining integrity that makes this one of the best spots in Beaumont. Logon does Beaumont proud! - I like to think of it as Beaumont's answer to Austin's iconic Saxon pub... bully!
Review Source:Good food, diverse atmosphere, caffeine, internet, pool table, cool staff, open mic night Wednesdays. Live music pretty much every weekend as well. I love going to this place because it's cozy inside and you can catch some really phenomenal local acts as well. This place has been around a long time and there's a reason for that. Stop in an support your local/non-chain business!
Review Source:This place would be really good, if...
Soome of the staff werent sooo rude.
I came on a saturday with 6 of my friends and family to support a friends band, there was a five dollar cover, no problem as we were aware of this before we arrived. However the guy at the door taking the money just sat there as we walked up, and didnt say anything about the money. He asked us which band we were there to see. I informed him that all seven of us were together and we were all to see the same band, Then he held up the 5$ cover sign and told us curtly "well theres still this" as if we were trying to sneak in without paying. as if that were possible with the large group of us looming so near. whatever. sometimes people let a rude comment slip. so we explain that we are paying seperately and the first of us hand over our cold hard cash. he takes it and dismisses us. now my boyfriend has the audacity to ask if we get a stamp or anything so if we go outside to smoke we can get back in. Ugh then this guy just sneers and responds that we will be on the patio already if we need to smoke. keep in mind that five of us had never been there before and had no idea there was even a back patio to smoke on, or that said patio is where we would be to watch the band of choice. Also note that on the way in there was an OBVIOUS smoking area in the front of the building, and thats where we had assumed we would be smoking. whatever rude guy. way to go on being the FIRST IMPRESSION we get of the place. you really set the tone. So we walk in, its pretty crowded, thats a good sign, its going to be a fun night afterall.
We go back and get ourselves comfy at the one pool table and couch in the back, and my family proceeds to begin a game of pool as we have about an hour to chill before the band we are there to see starts playing, a few minutes later another guy comes around and asks for an id to hold while we play pool, after a couple minutes of confusion, i guess we didnt realize that we had to pay for the pool after we just shelled out 35$ for the door, someone finally relinquishes an id for the guy to hold, Even though i said repeatedly that i had started a tab at the bar with an id and could we just use that, i was ignored so i guess that wasnt an option. Â OKAY it was 5.20 an hour for the pool, not bad considering we were splitting it between about four or five of us, but let me just add in here that the pool table was a bit rickety and there was only one.
(My BF says if theres only one table and its not a quarter table we shouldnt have to pay, i agree with that some, but i can understand these people have to make their money.. but EVERYTHING was so overpriced, and none of it was worth the money. 4$ per beer, Â restaurant prices for a sandwich that was not restaurant quality ((which i will get to in a minute)) plus a cover, plus pool hall prices for one rickety table, plus rude and confused service.. i just felt like i was getting F'ed in the A if you know what i mean.)
whatever, we will pay for the pool.
As i mentioned before i had started a tab and ordered a sandwich with a waiter. I want to go ahead an add here that the waiter guy was really nice, he came around to us frequently, and asked if we needed anything, and didnt even bat an eye if all we ordered was a free water (i could barely believe the tap water was free though) and he alone earned the second star in this review.
My sandwich. i was hungry, i didnt want to leave and come back (the door guy probably wouldnt have let me anyway) i ordered a veggie pita. Maybe im spoiled, but i only like food that tastes good. so choking down a stale wheat pita half filled with what appeared to be canned and slimy vegetables mixed in with a slice of cucumber chopped up tiny and slobbered with generic italian dressing until it was oozing all over the plate wasnt my idea of delicious. at all. :( but i did it.
I had also ordered a beer for my BF which i guess they were going to wait until the sandwich was done to bring it, but as anyone whos ever ordered a beer ANYWHERE before knows, that is NOT how we wanted it. so BF went to chase it down, only to find that no one had any idea he had a tab, or where to find it, or that there was a sandwich involved (Except the waiter who i had total confidence was preparing my food because he came back and asked a follow up question) but in the end he got his beer.
Most of us had a good time, but it wasnt because of anything the logon did to encourage it.
This place is trying to be really cool and hip in a town where theres a serious NEED for that sort of place, but at the same time theyre chasin that $$ and overlooking good old fashioned customer service and friendliness, the things that keep me coming back to a place.
People will keep coming here, im sure, but only until theres somewhere else to go.
On a side note, the wednesday night open mics really are awesome. if youre going to go, go on a wednesday and dont order a veggie pita
NO BETTER OPEN MIC NIGHT IN TOWN!
Attended the weekly Wednesday Open Mic night to support my friend and had a great time! Whether you've been taking the stage for years or it's your first time (like my friend) everyone from staff to audience to fellow musicians are nothing but supportive and encouraging. You can even have your original music digitally recorded. You can check out the details on their website http://www.logoncafe.net…
So what are you waiting for? Grab your instrument of choice (unless it's drums as I've been told from a reliable source it's a good set!), have a drink (or two..or three..) to calm any jitters, and groove hard! You won't regret saying your first gig was at The Logon Cafe.
