Great family-style place with a huge menu and good Greek selections.  The Rosa Marina soup is the best in La Porte.  The owners are always on-site, so service is never a problem.  Food is consistently good, not outstanding, but reliable.  Breakfasts a speciality.  It's diner fare.

We were in town again, which is becoming a regular thing, since my Dad is never moving back :)

Long story short, my dad had surgery, didn't eat for 36 hours, and was starving, so he picked this place to fill his hunger void.

As soon as we walked in, I had a hunch this would be a hit or miss.  We were seated immediately, and after I sanitized the booster to my likeness, a staff person was rushing me for a drink, um no, can I seat my child please?

After my dad ordered half the menu, I decided, breakfast is my best bet, and if they cannot get it right, i will be upset.  I decided on corned beef hash and eggs with biscuits (sounds yummy right?).   My dad ordered a louie (reuben) and a combo platter (chuck full of fried goodies).

Food arrived, and the little person in my head was saying, um...where's the rest of it?  Although my weight loss junkie person was saying, uh huh, you don't need to be eating all of that!  Any who, the serving size was smaller than normal, but I am used to over sized, feed a little village, sized portions! The corned beef hash was dry, surprisingly my eggs were yummy, although confiscated by my 2 year old, and the biscuits were definitely home made.

My dads sandwich looked yummy!  Although I was not asking his opinion on taste, given his need to eat everything in sight.  They did burn a few onion rings on the combo platter, however my 2 yr old, solved that by dipping it in ranch dressing and cheese sauce that it comes with.

Tip: You only get 1 refill with your soft drink, so drink slowly!  Ha!

Our server was surprisingly lovely, although she only appeared when we ordered food, or she was waiting nearby, but I think she was the only one there :(

We were out of $30 before tip, which is a little $ for a diner, however daddy was treating his girls out to lunch!

While I will not be requesting to go to this place when we visit, I would say it is great for those who are looking for a great sandwich or typical diner food, but do not expect over the top!

If this is a La Porte classic, I'm running for La Porte Mayor!

    Little Burpee.
That's all I have to say.
Wait scratch that I have more to say.

I love small diners and family run business, they really know how to make a comfort meal, great prices and usually friendly service.

Louie's you on the other hand should have your restaurant certifaction revoked.
Not only was the food horrendous but the services was atrocious. I was stared at the entire time I was there not to mention I or my family wasn't finished eating and the waitress grabbed our food without asking if we were finished.

But it could only get better! right? oh yeah.
A child who is clearly under 1 years of ago and over 60 pds of fat is screaming and yelling for more food. Then stops to let out a burp so loud the Devil himself was scared.
Not to be mean but I noticed there was not a mother figure present and I figured the kid ate her causing that obnoxious belch.
Really let that kid walk, give him turkey bacon and some salad, fire the staff and stop staring at outsiders. Thank you and have a great day.

This is a LaPorte classic.  An unpretentious institution of American breakfast.  A perfect diner joint serving all the classics: eggs with sausage-bacon-potatoes, waffles covered in probably-not-so-fresh fruits with whipped cream, plenty of non-gourmet over-brewed coffee that you pour sugar and cream into.

Around national election time, reporters from Chicago to New York come here to interview customers to get a "pulse" of middle America.  It serves a mix of working-class folks from LaPorte.  The hospital is across the street.  The servers are friendly and the smoke is thick.  Unless you want the strangest, most-depressing, most basement-like dining experience of your life AVOID the NON-smoking room in back.  Yikes.  Suck it up.  Inhale the smoke and sit in the original dining space.  It's great.  It's comfortable.  You'll want a nap when you leave.
