Yummy! Â Our family of 5 Â enjoyed a Sunday afternoon meal, and LOVED it. Â Tasty sauces and HUGE portions, at least on the sandwich I ordered, the Big Louie. Â Bbq chicken and slaw with a side order fries, mmm, mmm. Â The kids meal grilled cheese sandwich came with generous portions of fries or tater tots, too. Â My husband got the 5 strips meal and my son got the chicken and waffles. Â Clean location, friendly server, and a filling meal. We will return.
Review Source:I think it's great that this place was created by former NAU students, but I really think that the drinks and entertainment need to be upgraded. I ordered a Cosmopolitan and a Whiskey Sour and I could barely taste the alcohol in either drinks. Their chicken strips are pretty tasty and affordable at $6, but I didn't think it was any better than some of the strips I've had at fast food joints. Overall, I think this place has potential - maybe get some karaoke or something for entertainment, otherwise it's not exactly the most happening of places.
Review Source:Every time I call the one on Milton, during business hours, they don't answer. This has happened over the last 2-3 weeks, a couple times a week. That being said, their food is wildly over priced. For chicken strips that are probably bought frozen at Sam's Club, Mac and Cheese that also tastes like a frozen casserole that they zapped in the microwave, and sauses that are low-quality and not very consistent, they charge faaaaaaaaar too much, especially for a place that advertises to students. Also, they advertise delivery for students but only one time out of the many calls I've made, were they actually able to deliver. As a local who prefers to support local business, this is an estaleshment that is taking advantage of the "go local" movement. Selling overpriced, crap food will not deter hungry drunk students, but it will deter locals who know a rip-off when they see it. Either you step it up and give locals a well made menu that is actually competative with the non-local options (in taste and price) or you stick to scamming students. Can't do both.....
Oh and the decor is, to put it nicely, sad. It seems like a business that some NAU greek-life alumni started to get away from their wives. Doesn't look or feel like this is a business that they want to succeed.
The ONLY reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the food. The chicken fingers are AMAZING.
The service, was TERRIBLE!!! Our server was running around like crazy, and kept giving us excuses when our order was messed up and then she brought us the check when we were not ready to ring out. We also overheard her ask a table across from us if she could "ring them out because she was trying to get off work."
This is NOT acceptable as a waitress! She had a huge attitude with us the entire time we were there.
Doubt we will ever be sitting there again after getting treated like that.
Ok, this place is AWESOME. I am baffled that I have not been there on a late night snack attack before. The chicken and waffles were great, the chicken was super juicy, not too coated but still crunchy, and came with delicious bbq sauce. I guess I don't have much to say about the waffles, they were just plain waffles and I was clearly distracted. But together this combination is so heavenly and satisfying! The food definitely gets 5 stars.
Their school spirit for NAU, their neighbor, also gets five stars. Decor, on the other hand, is lacking. It's pretty much a dive bar, but, for chicken. There is no sign out front. The wood paneling inside plus the retro booths is pretty gross and everything looks dingy. I just don't think it matches how good the food is!
On two occasions now, they have completely botched our order. Â Wrong sauces, wrong sides, etc. Â Add to that a pile of soggy fries, and overcooked wings, and you have the makings a great meal! Â The employees don't seem to give a rip about their jobs either, and take their sweet time with just about everything.. Â There are plenty of other places in town with better chicken fingers and wings. Â Don't waste your time or money.
Review Source:Our family of 4 orders 2 "grown man meals" and we all get enough to eat with leftovers. Â It is our KFC alternative and the chicken is moist inside but nice and crunchy outside. Â Sweet.
Went to the east side location...very difficult to find but its off 4th street by the ReStore dumpsters. Â Really. Â The kid that was our waitress brought our drinks and no straws, I hunted down silverware. Â Food was good, with the strips a little overdone on the outside. Â Mediocre fries. Â Baked beans that probably came out of a can. Â And a big pool table in the middle of the dining room. Â Probably won't be back, and I used to like it a lot.
chicken wings: good. tots: good. louie sauce: delicious. they also had football on so that was really important for us since it was a sunday.
chicken and waffles: meh. not really that great. i guess we were expecting it to be better than or close enough to roscoe's but we were disappointed. the chicken strips were a bit dry and the waffles were just ok.
the service was kinda slow, too. or maybe that's really how they do it?
anyways, it's a good option if you're passing by flagstaff and don't want to eat fast food. but i wouldn't go out of my way for it.
during my short vacation from vegetarianism, i decided to check this place out. it's always nice to support local businesses especially when they alumni from your school.
got the 5 piece meal which came with a side, fries and texas toast. which at $8 is a great deal. you get a lot of food. the chicken strips are really the star, and these aren't tiny little strips, but they are really meaty and "chicken-y". they were fresh out of the fryer, most and delicious. their coating is awesome - relatively light and very crispy.
the sides were okay, standard mac and cheese, what i'm guessing were frozen fries, and "texas toast" that seemed more like regular toast. Â the sides were not bad, but definitely not worth writing home about. Â but really, you're coming here for the delicious chicken.
I ordered the "grown man meal" and they were not kidding. I usually have no trouble putting away grub but this place always fills me up. The beans are killer, and the service was right there too. Not the greatest beer selection in town, but they have something other than bud miller and coors so I am a fan!
Review Source:This place is comfort food at its finest. My friends and I found this place purely by accident...All of us foodies by heart, we were looking for something  unique, warm, and comforting. Louie's chicken shack surely exceeded our expectations. The chicken strips, and huge variety of wings...everything! wow-I'm starting to salivate just thinking about it. Everything chef Huckleberry served us managed to hit the the spot. I honestly think we ate way more than our stomachs could handle,..but completely worth the food coma it put us in right after. This place is truly, a hidden gem in the snowy city of Flagstaff.
Review Source:Well the first thing I should tell you is that I do not fully comprehend the attraction of eating chicken with waffles. My wife and I ordered this since it was kind of their signature menu item. The breaded and fried boneless chicken breasts (3) were tender and moist on the inside although the breading had little flavor and was kind of bland from a lack of seasoning, It was fried perfectly. The two waffles were not crispy and were almost bread-like in texture which we did not care for. Prices are reasonable and in addition to the chicken strip theme they serve a pulled pork sandwich which I have not tried. There are a variety of side dishes to choose from and they are trying to obtain a liquor license to serve alcohol. I wasn't impressed with what we ate, but I wasn't repelled either, thus the 3 stars.
Review Source:The three stars is mainly for the service and ill give the food fours stars because it's good.
Me and my sister's group went on a Friday and saw that they were having a special which was three chicken strips and two waffles for $4.99. Â Pretty good deal!! Â We got three specials and a order for mozzarella sticks for my nephew. Â
Their drink selection i thought was pretty good. Â I've only been to one restaurant that serves kool-aid, but his place also serves Tang!! Â My nephew ordered the kool-aid which came out very weak. Â My nephew made that face like he was eating a lemon. Â I'm sorry if they're trying to be sugar cautious but he's a kid who likes sugar. Â We ordered the ice tea and green tea which comes out in concentrate form but when i got mine it had no taste. Â The guy behind the counter checked it and found out the green tea was out. Â So I opted for the ice tea instead. Â Also asked if they had a any splenda or NutraSweet, they said they didn't have any. Â Kinda thing you want to have for diabetics like myself. Â Â
Our food came which was three strips of breaded chicken and two waffles. Â The chicken was more chicken then thick breading and very tender and juicy. Â My only thing was i wish they had some Louisiana hot sauce available. Â This would have made the chicken even better. Â They have a hot wing sauce which was okay but wanted that southern feel of the hot sauce at the table. Â The waffles were good and very warm. Â Even without using the syrup was still good. Â
The staff were behind the counter most of the time and really never ask if we needed refills. Â Also when you purchase a drink you're only allowed two refills. Â Now I don't know if this place is considered a fast food place or a place that has table service. Â With this place serving alcohol soon, i would expect table service to get more business and bigger tabs from liquor sales.
The place is decorated with Lumberjack stuff and is really nice place. Â I plan to go again and try something else, maybe the pulled pork sandwich. Â Hopefuly my next visit will be better.
