Check your ticket before you leave tip. It is automatically included.
We hadn't been back to Luigiano's in at least a year. They have made some very good changes to their food, decor and service.
Everything was fine until we got our ticket and realized we were automatically charged a tip. There were only two of us, and we had appetizers, entrees and ice tea.
The funny thing is, we were going to tip more than what was added to our ticket. However, the presumptuous action of just adding something that should be left to the patron to leave is distasteful to say the least.
We were brushed off when we asked why. You should have this published in your menu before people order.
I realize waitstaff make their money off their tips, but most people do tip. Adding it to a customer's ticket is extremely poor business practice. We are very good tippers, but treating all customers like they won't tip is insulting. You are doing the opposite of helping your servers.
Good stuff. Â Went with friends for lunch today...while I had been here before, I've not been since I moved back, and I had forgotten how good this place is. Â Also, what a good value it is. Â I used to always get the chicken alfredo and declared it heaven on a plate, but today I was in the mood for something different...but couldn't quite decide what. Â So I got the pasta sampler for under $8. Â The bread kept coming, and they had limes available for your water (upon request). Â If you want home Italian, this is your place. Â If you want cookie-cutter chain food, sorry. Â Not available.
Review Source:My wife and I were in the mood for Italian food one night, and chose Luigiano's in Mustang,OK. We chose this based on location and the reviews we read on the internet. I may be a little picky when it comes to Italian food, but both my and I agree that Luigiano's did not live up to our expectations based on other's reviews. Our server did not even know the wine list when I ordered a glass of wine. The calamari we ordered came out crisp and beautifully fried, but looks were deceiving because after a few bites, we were tasting poorly prepared calamari. The beaks had not been removed from some of the bodies giving that "extra crunch" which could damage teeth, and some of the entrails or ink was still remaining under the breading giving an unpleasant flavor.
My wife ordered the Shrimp fra Diavalo upon my recommendation because she was wanting a seafood dish with a bit of spice. Boy, I made a mistake because the shrimp were overcooked and "rubbery", the sauce tasted like watered-down tomato sauce spiced with only salt and pepper and the pasta was definitely not "al dente", more like "al mooshy". My entree was no better. I ordered the veal picatta, and it showed up with pasta with the same consistency, and the pasta was swimming in a pool of lemony scented broth not a lemon-caper-butter sauce. The texture of veal reminded me of some housewife's version of "smothered steak" cooked in a crockpot.
We had salads with our meal since they accompanied the pasta entrees. My wife's caesar was OK, nothing spectacular. I was excited to see they offered a Greek salad on the menu, and decided I would make a substitution for the house salad. The server told me it would be an extra charge. That charge was $3.85 for a same size salad as my wife's ( not that I'm complaining about the price, but that I expected something more than what I receivec) The salad came out nothing like I expected or had back-east from Italian/greek restaurants there when I was living in the New England area. It was merely iceberg lettuce, coarsely torn covered with small crumbles of Feta cheese, slice black olives from a can (not nicoise olives), big chunks and slices of roasted red pepper (I had to cut them with my knife into bite size pieces) and nothing more....... no cucumber slices, onions or pepperoncini peppers and to top it off they wanted me to choose a "dressing". No greek dressing so I opted with oil and vinegar.
Needless to say, we did not finish our meals nor took any of it home with us. The server came over and had the audacity to ask us if we "had room for dessert". I found it quite humorous. Then she asked us if we needed boxes. We politely replied no and asked for our bill. When the bill arrived, it was nothing more than a calculator printout with no descriptions of the charges nor any labels of any kind. So naturally I had some questions about the bill. When asked about one of the charges, the server quickly turned about and went for the manager without a word. Next, the manager shows up, and gruffly asks me if I had a question about the bill. When I went to ask if he had charge me for my glass of wine, and to explain the charges, the manager became rude and frustrated. At that point, I merely stated that the menu listed the price at $4.50 a glass and I did not see it listed. He then speaks in a loud voice saying that there is liquor tax that is charged on top of the price listed. Now my wife and I eat out regularly about 2-3 times a week, and I like to have an adult beverage now and then. However, I have never heard of a liquor tax charged on top of the advertised price in the menu. (Consequently, I found out later through the internet that there are some lawsuits in the state of Oklahoma on just that topic.)
To end the night out, the manager once again rudely asked in a loud voice, "This must be your first time here?". Obviously and the last one, as well.
I guess a restaurant has to cater to its clients and their palates, so I guess this is what passes over for italian dining in Mustang, Oklahoma. On another note, I don't even think the owner is Italian.......the manager had a foreign accent but no where close to sounding like the Italian owners I have met out east. Perhaps he was from another "Italy".
Definitely would not recommend this to anyone, friend or enemy!
Even in the small town of Mustang, you can get excellent Italian food!
I was one of their first customers and have continued to eat here on a regular basis. The great thing is, it's not like Macaroni Grill, it's not like any of those chain Italian places, and I guess that's what makes it the best.
This is NOT, I repeat, NOT a chain restaurant. This is a locally-owned small Italian place that caters to EXCELLENT food without the need to OVERcharge the customer.
My favorite is pretty much everything, but if I had to choose, it would be the Gigi's Salad which comes with house dressing, wrapped and sliced ham, cheese, etc on a nice small portion salad. They also serve great Pizza, Pasta (be sure to try the Eggplant Parmesan). They are open for lunch and dinner and are only closed on Monday.
The service is pretty good, not what I would call stellar, but they are ALWAYS busy because of the food. Back to the service, it's pretty cut and dry...Welcome to Luigiano's may I take your order? They bring you your drinks, some home made rolls, and then your meal. Of course, they do refill your drinks..and they stay out of your way while you enjoy their food. It's perfect because I've been to places where the damn waitstaff is so far up your ass while you're eating that they can taste what you're having. IN other words, Luigianos' waitstaff is not obnoxious.
Next time you're out near Mustang, make a point to stop in.
