In a word, the Lumberjack = yay. Â Greasy food, genuine people and menu items written on cast-iron pots and pans, dangling just below chainsaws, illustrations of Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox. Â
Their toast is just awesome as are their homefries. Â Now I've heard their non-breakfast items are very disappointing but I have never had non-breakfasty things there so I don't know. Â What I do know is that they serve comfortable comfort breakfast food in a great environment. Lumberjack is awesome.
In a town where cutting down trees is not just a hobby, but a way of life, locals need the right kinds of energy to get them through the day. Â Their breakfasts are town-famous, and for good reason: the buttered lumberjack-sized toast is crunchy where it should be, and soft where it ought to be. And the home fries are sumptuous without being greasy. Â
But don't expect modern conveniences - for instance, coffee is served in 6oz mugs that require constant badgering of the wait staff to refill, and air conditioners that don't quite cool the place off enough on hot summer days. Â But this is apparently how the lumberjacks like it - so that's how it's gonna be.
Priced and rationed for the locals, the Lumberjack Inn is a great value as long as you don't expect haut cuisine or anything resembling tofu.
